A dark mass positioned itself on one of the wider rocks that littered the Rocky Edges. It was very smooth and grey, just large enough for the creature to sprawl out on. Paws decorated like flames crossed themselves before the Kitsusagi and he rest his black head on them idly. His eyes were closed but his senses were still on full alert. His ears, decorated with the same pattern as his paws, were pointed straight up in the air and listenening closely for any movements around him. His three tails swayed idly behind him int he gentle breeze that carressed the land. They were an odd feature, each one looked like they had been dipped in something rather radioactive. They contrasted the other hues of his pelt quiet nicely. The male heaved a content sigh.
Autumn's breath graced the land but it wasn't untolerably cold yet. Autumn was his favorite season. Everything seemed to take on a serene tone when it came. The heat of summer was drvien away, too, which was the best part. Kieran opened his eyes to look out at the vast span of rocks that stretched out before him. His eyes were another unique feature. They glowed like two neon green beacons. They did so even without the aid of light too. It was rather unnerving for some and not many could meet his eyes for too long without looking away. Kieran remained motionless on his comfortable perch. The sun was setting now and twilight was fast approaching. Already tendrils of lavendar were spreading across the sky.
Time went by so quickly now a days. He closed his eyes again and readjusted his head, letting it rest slightly cocked to the side. His flame-colored bangs fell into his eyes and he didn't bother moving them.

It was Autumn already? But...when had that happened? The tan girl gave a small wince at the cooler air as it floated by. Perhaps, she had spent too much time hidden away in the library. But that was normal for her. Still, this change of season was a surprise to her, simply because it crisped her senses. Imagine when the even colder winter came upon the kitsusagi lands.
With ears tucked down, both for warmth and security, Nahanni pressed through the woods. Amazing what just a change of color could do to familiar lands. Were before the land was lush with greens, now it was overpowered with oranges and tans. So similiar to her own pelt, making her blend in famously. The rustling of her sash urged her forward, red tipped tails flicking sedately. If only she could find a hollow in the trees, or some structure to help keep of the chill. Home was too far, and she wasn't in much a mood to return. With her family acting so...different, she didn't want to rush back just yet.
Murky eyes peered forward as the treeline parted somewhat. Past the brown bark and fallen, yellow leaves was a stretch of land filtered with rocks. Like gold and bronze meeting silver, the kitsu was enlightened to see such natural contrast. Timidly, she stepped out on the cool stones, watching as they grew from pebbles to boulders. She remained as quiet as a mouse as she peeked to the darkening sky. Though, her attention was caught at a mass of color different from the stones. A shadow, perhaps? No. Nahanni stood stiff as she observed the form. What looked like some leaves and maybe grass turned out to be another kitsu. Her ears lifted shortly, wondering what the other was doing. Was he asleep, or even hurt?

You ever get that feeling your being watched? Well that's exactly what the male was experiencing at that moment. It was a peculiar feeling. Maybe he was just paranoid but it didn't hurt to check. With one fluid movement he turned his head to peer over his shoulder. His hunch had been absolutely correct. His gaze came across the form of not some woodland creature or boulder, but another being such as he. Every muscle in his body grew slightly rigid. In under three seconds he was on his feet and facing the female, his face only holding the faintest traces of suspiscion and other wise looking enigmatic.
Was this beast friend or foe? Sure she looked harmless but Kieran lived by the motto ' looks can be decieving. ' He wasn't someone who just warmed up to people. "Hello.." His voice cut through the silence that had befallen the two. It wasn't threatening in any manner, rather slightly curious. On the whole though he appeared quiet emotionless. He wasn't one to display such things very often. It just wasn't his style. "Can I help you?" He inquired, trying to sound at least somewhat polite. He still didn't trust the female. His eyes gleamed brightly as he looked at her intently.

Murky eyes blinked as the other kitsu moved about, surprised that his attention went directly at her. Did she make a sound? Or smell odd? Tan ears slowed back as the female backstepped an inch. Even from this distance, she could see some strange glow emitting from his eyes. A green that wasn't threatening, just...intriquing. Nahanni ducked her head and glanced to the side, not one to look others in the face. It was too embarrassing.
"Umm..." Her tails had curled under, sweeping the grey stones beneath. "I..I'm sorry." Had she intruded another's territory? The male's quiet stance made her feel anxious, and again she backstepped. She managed a peek up at his question. "No...no. I'm alright." She resisted saying sorry again, knowing it was a bad habit for her. The chilly air shook her frame once more. And now she was urged to walk on not only by the air, but by the peering eyes. Nahanni glanced to her left, then to her right. Perhaps the woods would be best, even if it was back treading.

Kieran blinked a bit. She was another who couldn't meet his eyes. From her very voice he could easily detect nervousness. He supposed he was a little too rigid. He sighed softly, sitting down and relaxing quiet a bit. Despite himself he felt like he could be at ease around the stranger. "No, it is I who should be sorry." He corrected her. "It's my nature to be wary of strangers." He curled his tails around him, trying to take on a more friendly appearence. He hoped he'd suceeded. It wouldn't have killed him to smile but smiling was just something the Kitsusagi just didn't do.
"So I apologize if I sounded hostile." His coal black fur ruffled in the breeze while the tips of his tails swayed idly. "Well that is good," He nodded to himself. At least she wasn't lost or anything of the sort. He was absolutely horrid with direction giving. He was mildly surprised to find such a female out in such a place though. She seemed like the sort who was scared of her own shadow. The sort who would stay cooped up inside all day. He noticied she'd scooted back a bit. Oh great he was probably scaring the living daylights out of her. "I won't eat you or anything," He paused. "It seems we got off on the wrong paw."
He stood up and approached her. His pace was very slow and his strides were meant to be very unthreatening. He stopped when he was about six feet away from her. He sat down again and offered his left paw, a very human-esque movement on his part but he thought it the formal thing to do. "I am Kieran," He ducked his head down, drawing the very paw he'd held out across his chest as if in a bow. A moment later he straightened himself. "And your calling is..?"

Nahanni flicked her eyes back to the other as he spoke up. At least he wasn't snarky, that would just be a damper for the poor girl. Slight brows rose at his explaining, finding it something like herself. Thing was, she was wary around everyone. Even family members. She let her paws rest on the ground once more, so as not to feel antsy. And she tried her best to keep her facial expression calm, even if her body was still tense.
Her head tilted down in a shake. "No, it wasn't you. I just reacted poorly." That was something she needed to improve on. By the time she peeked back up, she was surprised to find the other walking forward. Ears lifted as her body froze over. Both in nervousness and an attempt to remain polite. It'd be better than running with her tails between her legs.
"Oh." She returned the gesture, finding it somewhat normal. With her father, politeness and formality were learned qualities. Red hair fell over her face as she dipped in the bow. Even so, she kept a wary eye on the other. "Kieran. My na...or calling is Nahanni." She sat back in a bundle of nerves, tails curling over her chilled feet. "Hello."

Kieran scrutinized her for approximately five seconds. Actions did speak louder then nerves and it seemed she was no less nervous then she had been. He supposed he'd have to be careful unless he wanted to have her flee into the forest behind them. He looked up at the sky. The sun was still on its grand quest below the horizon. Night would bring the black Kitsusagi more comfort but he wasn't so sure about the scaredy-Kitsu before him. "No, I think your reaction was quite called for." He spoke after a bit of looking at the sky. "I am some random male you've never met before. I might've been some whacko but lucky for you I'm not." His voice, while it could've taken a rather harsh tone, did not. It remained quite the same.
The streaks of orange were gradually replaced by nothing but lavendar and dark blue as the sun ducked out of sight. Kieran cocked an eyebrow and looked towards where it had gone. "Speaking of whackos, they are probably going to start coming out soon." He looked at Nahanni, nodding. "Your name is lovely," He said. Maybe a compliment might ease her nerves a bit? The tension in the air around her was almost so thick you could cut it with a knife. And her name was rather pretty. But that was besides the point. "Think you should be heading home by now?" He inquired a bit curiously. Twilight was such a beautiful time. He would've been admiring the sky had it not been for their little conversation but he didn't mind.

Her eyes too followed his line of sight. It was getting darker now. A warm purple seemed to be bleeding into the sky above. What a lovely color; shame it only lasted so shortly. One ear flicked toward Kieran as he spoke up once more. Was that sarcasm? She had to turn her eyes back to him to see if he was serious or not. But his features were too stern to tell.
Her yellow ribbon shook with her as the hour of whackos was mentioned. No compliment could help ignore that now. But Nahanni tried, gaving a sweet shrug to dismiss it. "Credit goes to my parents." They had named her well, if not truly. Her face fell somewhat, along with her shoulders, at his suggestion. "Home?" Did she really want to? "No....not now." Attention turned back to the darker sky, though now she was more distracted than tense.

"Hmm, parents, eh?" Kieran paused, mulling this over a bit and looking a tad thoguhtful. "Must be nice to have some of those," He commented casually, not much emotion besides thoughtfulness showing through in his voice. Kieran watched her reaction to his words about her home. It said it all even before she spoke. He wondered what compelled her to stay away from her home. He dismissed the thought very quickly, though, because it was none of his business and he wasn't one to be nosey. He shifted position on the stone and realized that it was very cold and moved back to the spot his body heat had warmed. "It's getting a bit chilly," He commented, more to himself then anything.
He supposed he'd have to find someplace nice and warm to stay when he was done having a chat. Raising a paw he scratched his nose. "It wouldn't be good if I caught a cold, I'm prone to them every year around this time." He sighed a bit dramatically, feigning the drama of course. He didn't mind getting sick too much. It was best to get it over with as it was inevitable in the end. While the thought of someplace warm tempted him the thought of leaving a lady alone would make him feel incredibly guilty. He looked at the dark sky too, finding the moment of silence comfortable. Silence was something he was very used to.

Nahanni could only glance back at him, face placid but eyes thoughtful. She had forgotten that there were kitsus in the world that had no parents. And the idea was so foreign to her, she didn't know what to think of it. "It is nice." That's all she could say to that matter and remain simply put. Small paws shuffled in the stones, now with it being too dark to find much details. Just the bare minimum. To Kieran's statement of getting chilly, she nodded in agreement.
"A cold?" Oh, that was that illness that came hand in hand with cold weather. She'd never had that before, considering this was her first autumn, and soon to be winter. The girl tilted her head slightly. "Would you like to go somewhere out of the cold then? I can take you there faster than walking." To headquarters, that is. After all, it was the only public building she knew. Besides, it was too dark out in new terrain for her liking.

"Hm," Kieran wondered where she was going to take him. His mind instantly went to the place known as the 'headquarters'. He'd never even been inside, actually. It had looked really homey and whatnot from the outside, he had passed t by one occasion, but he had never been the social type and had just chosen to avoid the mess of Kitsu who he often saw there. He realized that might not've even been what she was talking about but decided to go with it anyway. "That would be wonderful," He stood up, first stretching himself out like a cat.
"A cozy fire sure sounds nice right about now," The thought was nearly pleasing enough to thaw out his icy brain. He raised a paw and scratched his nose and then the top of his head. He lowered to his mouth and exhaled briefly. The warm air hardly went past his fur coat but he felt a bit of it. It felt good. "Alright, shall we go?" He inquired, beginning to walk even before she'd given her response. He was going in a total random direction not sure whatsoever of where they were off to. He just really wanted to get there.

The young witch nodded as he stretched, still pondering what he may decide. Not that she'd take offense, since she had simply offered some help on a simple matter. Either way, that was where she was heading to at this moment, so why not ask for company? If only for a moment of transport.
"Oh." So Kieran did want to leave? Murky eyes blinked as the other began walking off, and she had to skip to catch up with the male. "W..wait a moment." The kitsu skid to a stop beside the other, before reaching at her yellow sash and removing the fan hidden there. It was a tiny object, just enough for decoration and use. But for now, it would be used. "This will get us there in a split second by magic." Tan fur flushed a bit and Nahanni peeked to the ground. "We just have to hold on to each other so the other doesn't get lost...if you don't mind." It'd be worth skipping the cold walk, but she was too meek to argue. It was an option, actually the original offer, that the girl had suggested to Kieran.
