I disagree with the idea that there was no historical Jesus. There were a lot of people back then who claimed to be the messiah. It's not hard to imagine one guy whose memes took out all the others'.

Hey, if there was a Jesus, you'd think that there would be at least some Roman records of the guy.

However none have been found, so you know what? I'm going to go ahead and assume that Jesus Christ is just a compilation of a bunch of other guys, with some mythology thrown into there.

I celebrate Christmas only because I grew up on it. I celebrate no religious aspects of it, I use it to spend time with my loved ones.

Also, Jesus' real birthday is unknown, the Church decided to cement the date on the 25th.
My mother is convinced it's sometime in January since the calanders are different and other s**t she rambled once on a long car trip.

My mother is made of awesome.

True the Calender we use is different then the one they used back then. The point is that Jesus' birthday was never officially documented and so the Church just decided to pick a day and say that's when Jesus was born.

My Mom is awesome too. She gave me a small bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey for my birthday last year.

Mine gave me two gift sets of Bombay Sapphire gin because they came with pretty martini glasses, and because I was really fond of gin and tonic at the time.

Same here with the celebration part. But I actually got into a conversation about this with a few Christian friends and discussed the date of Jesus' birthday. From what I've seen and heard a good amount of historians think he would have been born in springtime as that's when most animals give birth. I think there was another reason having to do with going back to Rome to do something but I can't remember what. Maybe pay taxes or reaffirm citizenry? I'm not really sure.

I shall be celebrating Christmas because it's what I grew up with and it's pretty much morphed into a secular holiday now. (and because the smell of pine needles is awesome)

Christmas. smile I'm celebrating it to make a non-existent point to my fellow classmates that are Christian. And 'cause I like free stuff.

There was this dude in my class that said "Merry Christmas" and then "whoops, I meant Happy Holidays" in this really obnoxious voice. Phsst.

She said she would get me a Redneck Shot Glass later to drink the whiskey with at around Christmas time. She didn't, but I don't care.
