recently, before i moved out to University, my dad got really worried about how much hair i was losing...

It's not like...bald patches or anything, but he noticed that my hair was getting thinner, and that alot was coming up in the hoover (vacuum cleaner...in case no one knows what i mean by hoover ^^; )

So, after that i began to get paranoid, and realising how much hair i was loosing like...after brushin, in the shower etc.

So, my dad said i should get a good bit of hair cut off...like, a few inches at the bottom. I was really hesitant 'cos i want to grow my hair...but, i did.

It didn't really stop...some days ALOT would come out and others it wouldn't be as much. My dad thinks it's from shock...

My mum died last May, so he thinks it was from the shock of that, 'cos it was really sudden...

But, i thought it might've stopped being bad by now because i'm over it...well, not OVER it, but i'm used to it by now...

Does anyone know any thing i can do to maybe encourage my hair to become a little bit thicker? I'm beginning to get really paranoid about my hair ^^;

I'm sorry about your mom. sad

Sadly, i don't really know anything that would help you with that... See a doctor? I dunno...

Personally, I have no idea why you'd be losing so much hair.
Try going to a doctor of some sort?

Hmm... Well, if it helps, some people just naturally loose a lot of hair. My sister has very thick but fine hair, and she loses a lot of it every time she showers, or brushes her hair, or blowdries it. But it's never been a problem for her.

Your dad might be correct, it might be from shock, although I'm not sure it would last this long. I'm more inclined to think it would be from stress. Sometimes, we don't realize how much stress we're under until physical things start occuring to our bodies. I do believe hair loss is one sign of stress. If there are a lot of things happening right now, that could be why.

I've never heard of a way to stop it, but you could google it if it's really concerning you. There might be some natural or home remedies I've never heard of. But, as long as you're taking good care of your hair, I don't think it's anything to be worried about. Also, I don't think the length of your hair would make a difference, so feel free to grow it out. ^^

well, balding and hair loss is mostly associated with being only a male problem, but females can experience hair loss and balding as well. in fact, i hear the number for women that are affected by hair loss or balding is around 30 million - less then men, but still a good number nonetheless. (for example, my grandmother, who has very thin hair is experiencing hair loss herself) So, the symptoms you're describing could be a sign of alopecia. I agree with whoever said that you should see a doctor. I hear hair loss can be effectively treated nowadays.

I hear you calling and it's needles and pins
I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name

Yeah, Memarcus is right. Women have their own version of male pattern balding. You might want to see a scalp doctor, maybe he can suggest a shampoo or something that would be gentle on your hair.

Yeah it could be from stress..
At one point I also noticed my hair was falling out, i have naturally thick hair so i didnt really mind. And then after a few weeks, it just stopped falling out.
I dont know if i was under any stress though...o.o

See a doctor about it.

My hair thins out too but I have thick hair and it only thins out every now and then when I'm brushing it or taking a shower, not all the time.

My hair would do that sometimes.
But it would be because I didn't comb my hair.

My advice, see a doctor. It might be from some sort of sickness. It could be stress too. And he could advise you on things to do to fix that.

Most of the time hair loss is from stress. I lose hair constantly, 'cuz I'm under alot of stress. I stress alot o-o; But if it's really getting to be an issue, you should buy some hair thickening shampoo. I forget what it's called but my mom used to use it 'cuz she has super thin hair.

It could also be genetic, but most of the time it's from stress.

If you go to the doctor, they'll forward you to a psychiatrist, and then label you crazy most of the time =o= I suggest not seeing one.

But it's true Dx I was just being honest ;-;

When I was throwing up from constant stress, they were gonna send me to a psychiatrist to "deal with my issues". Turns out it was just my stupid sister and her husband arguing outside my window all the time that made me sick ><;

But my point is.. don't go see a doctor. I lose hair all the time xD I also have majorly thick hair, like enough for 3 people o-o;

It could just be a phase, perhaps? >>;

i know you were xd thanks <3

i bought some Sunsilk shampoo that's meant to keep it...something...for longer. i find my hair gets greasy quite quickly, and i really don#t want to wash my hair every day 'cos i've heard it dries it out...so, this apparently keeps it from getting greasy and heavy as quickly...i hope. i find that when it's greasy i feel more conscious about how thin it is
