My friend had pointed out a very interesting fact at school a few months ago-
The Bible is the most acurate historical text. I never thought of 'comparing' the texts with other accounts, but the events that happen...We find later that they really did.
-and to Xillion- You haven't been told correctly... -were did you learn that?- He's no 'monster', and there's a reason why he's called the 'creator'. The monster under the bed didn't make you and the place in which you survive in.
If you want to talk about what is doubtful, how likely is it for the world to just HAPPEN to be in the right path around the sun with a temperature that could substain life, just HAPPEN to have the right materials to keep life, to create and nurture living beings. Do you realize how complex each strand of DNA really is? You think that can happen NATURALLY? Take some classes in Biology.
Pardon the direct hit, but maybe these standards and processes should remain consistant.

Most people use the bible as guidlines to life. It teaches them what is right and wrong, and "truth". To them the Bible is "truth" and to other's science is "truth". Where is it anyone's place to say the bible is wrong, and science is right?
~ I Love Tommy ~ Science may not be any more right than the Bible, but science is something that can be proven, usually through math. In incidents of morals, of course, it's a different matter. "Right vs wrong" follows different rules than "true vs false". I suppose I should have clarified that in the beginning.
FYI: When I said right I meant truth.
Math is only numbers. There are people who don't believe science. Some people still think the world is flat, others don't believe evolution ever occurred. Just because science said it did, doesn't make them believe it anyone more. That is the exact same as your view on the Bible; Just because the Bible says so doesn't make it true.
~ I Love Tommy ~ If you can't use math or science in a debate, then you can't debate, well I suppose you can, but it's a very poor fact. The bible is not mathematically proven, in fact it goes against math by claiming that the Universe is a meager 6k-10k years old(which is ridiculous, because we can see things in the universe that's millions of light years away, and radio-carbon dating also show's that to be false). I'll use math as an example actually, in math you cannot assume anything to be true without proving it, once it has been thoroughly proven it is given the title of "Theorem". The bible is not a Theorem, it is a postulate to some, but unless it's a postulate to both sides then neither side can use it. On a side-note, Please stop comparing science to the bible, this goes to all of you, it's annoying, and they are polar opposites, everything in science is INTENSELY criticized after being presented with an enormous amount of evidence for it, while the bible is just taken as true without any real proof. Science is what makes the modern world modern, the only good thing the bible did was give a simple answer in a time when science didn't really exist.

Science is what makes the modern world modern, the only good thing the bible did was give a simple answer in a time when science didn't really exist. On the contarary. Science supports the bible more than counters it. one- That is taking the bible literally. To say that time was cut short in reality is being humanly self centered- God is timeless, who knows how long one day is for him? The seven days could be metaphors for changes in time, like the natural cooling and heating of the earth since it was created. That's just an example, but we cannot thrust aside the possiblity of this being truth just because it challenges our 'logic'. Human logic is scewed anyway, only taken from what we have seen so far. Many things in science are theories anyway, and instead of trying to disprove them like they should in testing, they try to find any possible way to show they are right. This does not go for all scientists, but that way of thinking is certainly out there.

The bible should not be held as an actual book of facts or truths. It is merely a code of morals and a book of faith. It should not be used as evidence in debates of scientific fact, although should be used as evidence when morals or cases of beliefs are at stake.
