Well, we all know that Photoshop is not the only graphics program out there, but it certainly is one of the most popular. However, not everyone can afford the outregeous price for it, or at least not when they first began.
1. Compare Photoshop to other Graphics Programs 2. Maybe even go as far as comparing Photoshop CS3 to Photoshop Elements
-Other graphic programs include- [[Feel free to suggest more programs that I left out]] 1. Paint Shop Pro 2. Corel Painter? 3. The Gimp

I've never really used any other digital imaging programs. I have CS2, and wouldn't go so far as to download CS3 only because as far as I know, there is only 1 or 2 minor changes.

Hmm. I know a lot of people in my classes have gimp and PSP.
I have only ever used CS2 and Elements. There is no way elements even comes close. My version, at least. It doesnt have pen tool or most of the filters and effects. It was just harder for me in general.
As far as CS3, Ive heard very different things. My teacher says the changes are HUGE but Ive heard around here that there wasnt much different...

CS3 is pretty much the same in my opinion, but the layout of the program is a little bit different.
I've tried The Gimp before. It's alright if you don't have the money to pay the big bucks, but there's no eraser tool. At least not one that I could find. D:
I started out with PSP, and I really like some of the tools it has. However, it can't compare to PS.
I looooved Elements. People say that it doesn't have quite as many filters and tools as CS2, but there are ways to work around that if you know what you're doing.

Woah, I think this thread changed since my first post. XD The only other digital imaging program I use (oustide of imageready) is Ultra Fractal. But that is alot different than photoshop, so I won't compare the 2.

ive never used any other, except cheap free online ones, and i dont know anyone else who has either. But i've used Elements 6,CS2, and CS3 CS2 and CS3 are not much differnt that i can tell except the layout is a little differnt but otherwise i think i can do everything else i did with CS3.
Elements isnt much of a step down from the CS versions. Except u cant use the history brush or the pen tool(which were my favorites in my photoshop class)
my friend has CS4 ive never used it but she says its pretty much the same as CS3 and CS2
