I remember 4 weeks ago in my Japanese class, my sensei told us a story about her husband.
She said,

"My husband went to Japan when he was younger. And when he introduced himself, he said he was from "Ca-na-da" just like any other American would say it instead of using your Japanese accent and saying, "Ka-na-da". And when people heard this, they laughed at him for the next 6-7 years."

When I heard this I bawled out laughing. rofl
But then this feeling of sadness and fear over came me IMMEDIATELY.
I became afraid of going to Japan *again*, messing up, and having all these Japanese girls laugh at me for years to come! gonk
My ego and confidence levels would plumet at a fast rate... crying

That would be bad.... I was trying to sing an ending song on an Anime on youtube. I love that show... It would be cool if america had a japanease cartoon channel. ^-^ Yay Keroro Gunso! and PPGZ and Mymelody!
But I'm not that good at saying the words yet.

What, they laughed at him, for saying an English word in English? I don't see the Japanese pronunciation of it being exactly on the mark, so I wouldn't think they're'd be any reason to mock the poor guy. If I were meaner, I'd probably mock all the people who sprinkle random English words into their language, ESPECIALLY if there's already a perfectly suitable word for what they wanna say in Japanese. To me, that's the Japanese equivalent to Spanglish here in the states, and it's no less of a butchering of both tongues. So people may laugh, big whup. I fail to see many of them employ a tongue they do not know well, to people they don't know well, in a land, they don't know well.

Well, for one, I don't know if people would even do that as much anymore. But if they're really that immature that they would, you could always just laugh at them back for their poor English pronunciation. (If you want a word in particular that Japanese people seem to have trouble with, it's "woman." The "wo" becomes an "oo/ew" sound biggrin )

Of course, there are probably loads of better ways to deal with the situation, but the point is, they most likely have no room to talk, so you really shouldn't take it too seriously.

Lol. I was thinking the same way *Koiyuki and O.O.K.*
But I'm laughing at that matter more than fearing it. rofl
(( Forgive my immature-ness... )) ninja
