Player A is a heavy swordsman(warrior, whatever you want to call him.. I forgot the class name) Player B is a Ninja...
Player A challenges B to a battle using the system. player B accepts, both player's screens flash white and show up with the guages, and buttons.
The timer starts counting down. Player A preses the attack button and decides to run in for a attack with the running-slash move... Player B quickly presses the dodge button and moves arround behind Player A... Now as the turn changes, player B is now being counted down on, with the reset timer. Player B selects the special move option, and throws a handfull of starz at Player A... Player A selects his shield option and blocks the stars... the turn switches... Player A selects the running attack again from the attack option... Player B again uses the dodge button to move out of the way... Player A, anticipating this, clicks on another spot on the screen, changing the direction his character is moving... Player B, quickly trys to counter by using the block command... Player B blocks the light attack with his 2 swords... turn change.... Player B, not liking the chances of a close combat with his opponent uses the move command to run a bit farther out from the way... turn change... Player A decides for a change in attack, he selects the Jump attack from the attack options... As A comes from the air with a heavy attack, Player B, anticipating another undogeable running strike uses the block command... Player B is sent a distance backwards as he is hit at the swords by the powerful attack... turn change... In response to the new attack... Player B uses one of his special attacks... Player B speedly slices by Player A who dosen't have time to counter the quick move, Player B ends up on the opposite side of Player A, and Player A drops a piece of armor from the attack... ..... well... I don't need to continue to much... you kinda get most of this part of the idea...

(PVM Version) A group of 4 people is walking through a dark forrest outside of towns looking for some battleing...
one of the group members heads a bit ahead, and a monster jumps out and attacks... the 3 others quickly rush up, and join in the fray... taking turn by turn attacks...

Yes, I hope they make it PvE (Player Versus Enviroment) and PvP, and I hope they let you form parties with one person as the leader, then they just walk around as the party, wherever they decide, and goes and fights monsters and stuff.

I think the battles should be turn based like the FF games and have some sort of menu with sub menus like
Offense Defense Magic Inventory Escape (can't escape from PvP battles)
Offense --> Attack (mid pow, mid spd, mid acc) Heavy Attack (high pow, mid spd, low acc) Swift Attack (low pow, high spd, mid acc) Special Attacks: - - - w/e
Defense --> Block (mid def, mid eva) Dodge (low def, high eva) Special Defense: - - - w/e
Magic --> Well, what do you think goes here
Inventory --> Items (healing, boosting, etc. items) Weapons (switch weapons to better suit the enviroment or your mood) Armor (same as weapons, but armor; includes shields)
And, well, Run.

Putting the Battle System in Towns could destroy the gentle ambience of the town. If it were to be PvE, There should just be a separate dungeon for it via a train station like the town.

You guys ever play that flash game Tatics Core? Cuz thats what i want to happen. It has this little bar at the bottom and the faster people like the ninja lady get more movement points and sooner turns and stuff, but I also really like the Fallout series with their "AP" or Action Points. if they could somehow merge the two it would be awsum!

Aurvandil You guys ever play that flash game Tatics Core? Cuz thats what i want to happen. It has this little bar at the bottom and the faster people like the ninja lady get more movement points and sooner turns and stuff, but I also really like the Fallout series with their "AP" or Action Points. if they could somehow merge the two it would be awsum! Now that could be pretty good. Action Points (AP) is actually really nice though sometimes, not really user friendly to those who dont get it. sweatdrop

Think about it... isometric grid-based Battle is better. I think I'll make an example of what it might look like on Photoshop...not that hard. I mean, we've got 4 direction sprites already, they fit with isometric grids... ...plus, Disgaea and FF Tactics rock. If you made Battle more like Final Fantasy, it would be more dependant on your strength(or amount of gold for weapons), whereas FF Tactics requires...well, TACTICS. See what I mean? No? Well, ok, but a PSO-style Battle would suck...graphically, and also those with slow connections would just lag and lag and lag...

It's great! Grid-based, like FF Tactics, everyone in the battle takes turns in combat, it's got a timer so people don't take too long in their moves, AP and movemnt points...play it! You'll see what I mean. I'll try to grab some screenshots. biggrin Or, an Avernum 3-style battle mode would mean better adventuring. However, I prefer Dofus combined with Disgaea.
