"Uh..." Phoenix began, his tone awkward. What was he supposed to tell this kid anyway? "Sometimes, mothers and fathers don't live together - it's kind of hard to explain. Sometimes they just... figure it's better on all fronts to be apart. Love is a crazy thing, I guess..." He muttered. "You can still seriously love somebody and not live with them in the end."
"Yeah. I'm sure the guy will get used to you guys though." Phoenix grinned suddenly, nodding. "Just watch out for his temper, he's amazingly angry when he wants to be." A nervous chuckle escaped him and he scratched the side of his head. "Though, uh, maybe its better to wait until you're bigger to ask him why he doesn't hang around with your mother."

Truee. Xanul pondered. Didn't his grandpa and grandma live apart too? And yet, they were so close, and had 10 kids! But really, Ayako and Saix were just...Argh. Grown ups were so puzzling.
The kit grinned happily, dark tails swishing. "I hope they'll sort the problem out though." Xanul wasn't exactly stupid, he could still sense some tension between his two parents. "Soo..." He chirped. "Since you know Daddy, you should know Uncle Edge and Aunt Kitsumi as well right?"
