The combined teens and adults just shook their heads in pity, and Audra sighed, wondering how the blasted snake could have convinced anyone that he wasn't a threat. Even to look at him one could see that he was a creature to fear, with the scales, claws, and constantly covered eyes. Growling as the kit turned to walk away, Audra spun on her heel and vanished into the pound, looking for someone with enough status to order the ignorant child to stay away from the monster.

The rest of the teens and adults just shifted around, looking at each other, and muttering unfriendly things about their imagined monster. A couple f them making as if to chase Ion down and drag her back, only going a scant few steps before they returned to the rest of the pack.

Quite a distance from the field, Touda had one book set aside from the rest that were to go into the box. The one book that contained the information about the species he believed himself to be. After debating with himself one last time, he began packing the box with the books, purposely placing the damning book near the middle so as not to draw undo attention to it.

Furious, she ignored them, heading out across the field to cool down. They were ridiculous, the lot of them. She couldn't grasp why they were so quick to assume that someone different from them was dangerous. A little voice in the back of her head spoke up, telling her that she had too, at first. Growling at it, she rationalized that her initial fear didn't make a difference when she had swallowed her doubts and had taken a moment to talk to him and get to know him. And she was glad she did. That... mob, for lack of a better word, was the monster in the pound, spreading it's hate and ignorance, instead of Touda.

Eventually as the kit stalked around the field with no black serpentine body appearing, the group realized that the monster must be gone, and began to dissipate until only a couple were left. Volunteering to stay and raise the proverbial alarm should Touda return while the kit was in the danger zone.

However, as the sky began to turn dark, even the self proclaimed guardians went back inside the pound to the warmth and safely, leaving the chill and mystery of the dark behind.

Slipping back out of his home after the sun went down, Touda slithered silently through the grounds. His body quickly becoming chilled with the lack of sun or warm air, only the residual warmth of the ground there to keep his temperature up. Reaching up, he removed his visor and let it hang around his neck, his golden eyes searching through the dark as he moved along toward the main door of the pound. He paused, hesitated really, by the edge of the meadow, looking around and scenting for any of the adults who'd failed to go back in.

Ion had stayed out until the would be evangelists had retreated inside, then feeling rather cold, she started back towards the pound herself, rubbing her arms.

Staying perfectly still behind his tree, Touda watched the kit trudge back to the pound. No matter how much he wanted to call her back, spend more time in the company of a wayward that didn't fear and hate him, he didn't want to risk alienating her even more from the other inhabitants of the pound.

Waiting until the young kit had gotten far enough away that his black scales wouldn't be seen in the night, he slithered toward the main doors of the pound. There he set the box marked with the kit's name down, not taking them inside as he knew that then they would never get to the kit. Better that no-one knew where he came from, so that she had a chance to actually receive them in the morning.

That done, the large serpent vanished back into the night, back to his own little cabin for the night.

Tired and slightly disenheartened, she trudged to her room without a word to anyone.
Not that that was unusual of course. She rarely spoke to any of them, most were idiots, and the few she did like were often busy. Sighing, she flicked off her light and crawled into bed.

((*Waves the magical time-shift wand* *POOF*))

Some number of days after meeting Iun for the first time, Touda slithered nearly silently through the forest bordering the pound. Through with his duties for the day of making sure all the paths were clear of poison ivy and the like, he made his way slowly around the perimeter of the pound.

Though one of his many jobs was to ensure that no children got lost in the sprawling forest, his gaze was focused toward the pound more often then to the trees away from it. Though he wouldn't admit it to anyone, even himself, he was really keeping an eye out for the little fox that actually seemed to be willing to give him a chance a short time ago. Fully aware that the others in the pound could easily have changed her mind, and aware that the knowledge contained in the book he'd slipped into the stake was damming, he couldn't quite crush the small amount of hope he still harbored that she would be willing to speak with him again.

Lying on her bed, legs crossed at the ankles, Ion flipped through the book across her bed, trying to drown out the sounds of the other children running through the halls past her door. After reading the same page over and over, she gritted her teeth and slammed the book shut with a thud on the section marked "Hellfire Serpent", a section she had been particularly interested in. Muttering nastily to herself, she packed the book into a small pack and waiting for the hall to grow silent as the stampede made it's way 'round their wing of the house again, she dashed out to freedom.

Finally, on his second time around the pound in as many hours - still denying to himself that he was doing anything other then his assigned job - when he saw a streak of furred energy shoot out of one of the doors a good distance from him. Immediately sinking back onto his scales, he went perfectly still in the shadow of the tree nearest to him, a trick that had helped him avoid being noticed many times before, and waited to see what the activity was about.

Checking over her shoulder frequently to make sure she hadn't been spotted and followed, she breathed a sigh of relief and slowed her pace, looking for a nice spot to rest where she could read in peace.
