Interesting. Here, I call it the "Kawaii Effect". It basically is a statement that girls and women a like will try to find that kawaii side of them and how everything has some sort of cuteness to it. For example, in a hand out showing how to take out trash and such, it had such cute chibi characters in the brochure. Girls try to go out and find that kawaii side of them (that also explains that Japan has one of the most unique fashion scenes because of this), but yes the emphasis is true that when girls become older they want to look more sexy than cute.

More sexy than cute. Heh. Not I. Lolita all the way, nyo.
In being cute, I am sexy.
I love Hello Kitty. Not in blatant ways, though. Toasters, Waffle makers, vacuum cleaners... They have Hello Kitty everything. A notebook, necklace, and a few phone charms is all I need. 3nodding

I prefer Chococat myself a little more, but Hello Kitty is the classical sanrio character. I have found this funny website called Hello Kitty Hell. It is very funny you all should check it out, There's all kinds of weird/interesting/stupid/cool/funny stuff there! I lol'ed when I went to the website.... Hello Kitty beer.....wow..... even though I love japan I can say I don't like hello kitty all that much
