I truly dont see how people CAN pair Mello and Near together. I mean, I dont mind it and people that like it, but its my least favorite pairing and I dont see how they can be together. If you look at how there personalities are, they dont match up very well at all. Not only that but Mello hates Near. Yes, he may have worked with him, but that doesnt mean he liked him. Not only that but just because there rivals doesnt mean there in love. But, pushing my rant aside, I think they might have been friends just a bit when they were younger. In my beliefs, I think when Mello and Near discovered that one of them were going to be L's succesors, THATS wnhen Mello started to hate Near. Because he knew he was going to be competing against him and also because Mello wanted to win and become the succesor.
