Was anything else thrown in there with your Asperger's like my ADHD?
Also, what impairments did they put in your evaluation?
I have an impairment in the mental rotation of objects, and I have an auditory processing impairment (selective-hearing). There was more, but I don't really remember this late at night. :{

Severe Depressive Disorder, Moderate Social Anxiety, Test Phobia, light sensitivity, auditory sensitivity. My brother has an auditory processing disorder. He can't hear you if more than one noise is going on at the same time.

My brother doesn't have it as bad as me, but yeah, everyone seems to. I think we get depression and anxiety because life is hard with Asperger's, and at least where I live, there's very little understanding.

The father of my kids is an Aspie and is thought to be Bi-Polar as well. I don't think he bothers with any medication. He's been to a variety of specialists who all say different things... so his diagnosis has always seemed to be a mystery... Its very confusing, has anyone else had such trouble with diagnosis of other conditions?

My Asperger's was 'post traumatic stress disorder with nonspecific cause' before I found a specialist. Asperger's isn't as well known as it should be, find someone that really knows Asperger's. They should be better equipped to separate the Asperger's from other problems.

Well, we aren't together anymore, so I can't really make him do anything. xp But I found his story saddening, seeing so many doctors and having a lot of difficulty in school. I wasn't sure if this was common or not, and thought it would be worth talking about.

My dad has had terrible social problems, but grew up in a time where the answer was 'deal with it.' He's about to turn 51. Fortunately, doctors are catching it earlier and earlier, but so many of us slip the the cracks and remain undiagnosed for decades.

hah.
borderline personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, social anxiety, bipolar 2, chronic depression, OCD, schizotypical personality disorder, and PTSD.
those are the disorders that have come and gone over the years. i would pretty much get a new diagnosis every time i saw a different doctor.
it made me so angry because i didn't fit most of them at all, and the only ones i did fit were the anxiety, depression, and OCD. those are classic with asperger. i wasn't properly diagnosed as an aspie until 26 years old.

No, not really. Not mentally/emotionally. Physically, however, I have Insulin Resistance and Diverticulosis.

My goodness what a headache! Sometimes diagnosis can be such a problem because (to some extent) it is based on someone's opinion of what they think is going on. I'm beginning to realize too that schools and doctors don't always know what is best for your child, or don't always recommend what is best for your child due to outside factors. (ie funding, resources, etc)
