The way I see it, Gaia will put this fee into effect, whether we like it or not! The best way we can possibly win in this situation is to compromise with Gaia and hope that they will change the fee to something else in our favor. In this case, I speak of a cancellation fee! Sure a sales fee would hurt every seller on the marketplace, but a cancellation fee would hurt every person on the marketplace that placed their item up for too much gold. hmm, This would slow down the loss of gold, but we still loose some gold.(what staff want)
I think we need to make a list of alteretives like this and once we reach about 100 send it to some Devs.

I think perhaps a max of 100 gold taken of per item would work good....
like when the 2% goes past 100 it will stop perhaps????>...

As long as a cancellation fee wouldn't also apply to items whose time runs out... I've put things up for the lowest price before and then had them expire because a bunch of other people suddenly put up the same item for lower ^_^*

That would stop those bid vendors.
It's so annoying, they keep canceling at the last few seconds. For the very reason that it's +/-1000 gold below their 'buy now' price. Honestly if they really want it at the price they had set in mind, they should just leave it as a no bid, stare

i agree to that idea..well i cancel sometimes but thats cause they are mostly like 10k below what is close to my price. but i see people canceling a simple 1k lower deal so i agree.

Cancellation fee is brilliant! I hate when people post items way too low, expect people to bid them up to full MP price, babysit the auction, cancel, list again for 5 minutes, babysit, cancel, etc.
2% for every cancellation is still a lot of gold altogether, but not totally arbitrary since it serves to deter an annoying behavior.

I think the only problem with that is that when people repeatedly undercut each other it would effect those who have to cancel their sale just to.. well sell their item o 3o;;
I have to do that a lot with MCs,because people sell them so often. I dont want to wait forever to sell my item,I want to get back my gold as quick as possible.
Speaking of Sniping... Its just another way of Vending. You cant criticize people for canceling their sales. Who really wants to lose thousands,perhaps millions of gold because nobody bid high enough for their item? >____< I know I wouldnt. Its their decision what they want to sell at. If they repeatedly keep putting their item up for bid and canceling just stop bidding. o.o

A cancellation fee would be good only for when people cancel the sale at the last minute. If they could do something like make it take effect when the sale has like only two hours or so left, or only a small number of bids if any.

I'm also an impatient seller and it would be annoying to lose gold just so I could sell an item cheaper - but it's a much better idea than automatically being taxed on each sale. Don't forget that this is an alternative to a very dumb scheme. Tax on cancellations is not perfect but is much better than Gaia's proposed tax on all sales. And the problem with people who cancel their sales is that they usually make 5 minute auctions for an item that costs thousands of gold but start it at 0 gold. I agree that it's "their decision what they want to sell at" but if they insist on getting full market price, they should just sell it for full market price. The vast majority of people bid in hopes of getting at least a slightly better deal than MP prices. But I've seen sellers cancel items where bidders have bid higher than MP prices. These sellers also cancel when a 30k item reacher 28k. Yes that is a 2k "loss" compared to the MP price, but it is not disgustingly low. If you want full price, charge full price, don't play games with buyers. These sellers usually warn against "noob bids," but the truth is they are noob sellers who don't understand why people bid, nor how to efficiently sell their items. Obviously a person should stop bidding on items sold by such a noob seller. But a cancellation fee would compel these sellers to post an honest starting price instead of making everybody guess how high to bid.

Day trading or playing the market as we should be able to do requires me to re-list items frequently. Competing for prices is pretty much a fundamental requirement of any market. Cancellation fees wouldn't be accepted by the administration anyway, nor would they negotiate with us in any sense, even if the Donnybrook managed to escalate to a point where they noticed a serious change in income.
