There is one religion in this world that fears all the other religions in this world - Science.
Science, if you really think about it is a religion itself - it has certain beliefs...
It's a bunch of little theories bundled up.
Instead of faith, is uses pure logic in order to believe something is true.

Science shuns faith, in fact.

But, you know what Science is really here for?
Yes, to understand our world and try to make it better...
That's a very small part of it.
But science is here to pick at other religions - mainly ones that require faith.
Oops! Golly, I almost forgot - all religions require faith.
Except for science, of course.

And so, science has created a lot of things to fool the world.
The Big Bang theory...
Evolution...
Cloning...
Harnessing or mimicking God's power...
It's a bunch of fish paste.
They teach us these things to replace faith in God, or Gods.
Do you also know why else they do this?

They are afraid of us.
They are afraid of faith.
They are afraid... if there really is a God.

Golly, religion doesn't pick on science, but respects it.
So why does science disrespect us?
Us faithful folk?

It doesn't compute, does it?
There's a reason why science is disrespecting faith...
But, what's the main reason, I wonder?

Because Satan will use ANY tool he has at his disposal, and even if that tool was supposed to be used for good, he will twist it and alter it until it is something he can manipulate to bring us down to his level.
I have a friend who is really into science, but instead of making her shun religion, it only shows her more and more that there has to be a God. Several of her professors are not members, but also agree that there has to be something more, because it couldn't have fallen into place the way it has very easily.
There's an EFY song that I really enjoy that talks about such things. I don't know what it's real name is, but I think it's called "It Passes all my Understanding" if any one else has heard of it.

The man who was my Institute teacher and later the Stake President taught chemistry at the United States Naval Academy.

There are people out there in the scientific community -- and it sure does seem like a lot of them! -- who are disdainful of faith.

"Golly, religion doesn't pick on science, but respects it." Sadly, the disdain does go both ways. We're taught in our church that science and scientific inquiry can be another way to learn about God and His marvelous works. Not all churches think that way; not even all members of our church do. Because people distrust "the new" and because the scientific community does often seem like it's trying to tear down that which people hold sacred (not to mention that which they've built their lives and selves around) many people of faith do tend to pick on science.

I wish the people where I live were that way.
You know, in the 'not-so-much-shunning-religion-part'.

I need to go to EFY next year

I agree that science is not a bad thing. After all, there are certain rules and principles that Heavenly Father lives by that probably had some impact on how the world was organized. And if science is defined by the substituting of faith for pure logic, well, I think that when you go beyond faith and obtain a perfect knowledge of the Gospel, it becomes easy to see how logical it all really is. So I have no idea if anybody else follows what I'm saying, but in a way, science has a lot to do with our religion.

I also love that song from EFY. It's about how all the scientific discoveries that have been made only make the existence of God more logical. Really, how can so many specific things like the exact distance of the Earth from the sun, the human gift of agency, the fact that this planet is perfect for sustaining human life, etc. all be just a gigantic, random coincidence? It just doesn't make sense. It really does all point to some sort of divine existence and planning.

This reminds me of 2 Nephi 19:28-29, which says:
28 O that cunning aplan of the evil one! O the vainness, and the frailties, and the cfoolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish.
29 But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God.

So it's good to seek learning, just always remember where things all come from. The only problem with that is, the people who you'd think could most benefit from this scripture are the people who are so "logical" that they don't even believe in God to begin with, and therefore wouldn't heed the advice.

I am a scientist. A zoologist, in fact. So I study evolution and the creation of the earth and so on.

I've found that on the surface, religion and science disagree. But scratch that surface and all of a sudden, the two are singing one sweet song together.

Think about it.

Science is a tool to understand the world. Nature.

Heavenly Father is a God of order. Nature is God's law, yes? As a God of order, He must follow the law, and the law must follow Him. Understanding nature, the world, is learning of that law and how it is possible.

Studying the finer points of evolution just make it more clear that there *is* a God. It all fits.

Certainly there are those who shun religion, but there are also really good steadfast religious people who are scientists.

EXCELLENT point, Beamy!

I'll type it up in Notepad this time. But I WILL get it up here! ^_^ ...(probably tomorrow, as now I'm really tired...)

I'm horribly addicted to debating religion. >.<
