To me the couple that lives happily ever after is an extended couple and this is the reason why I think so:

The reason Sasuke-kun left Konoha was because yeah he wanted to seek power to kill Itachi, but there was another after he enraged of his love Naruto's progress of becoming stronger. he taught that if Naruto would be stronger than him he would the one ******** Sasuke instead of the other way. So Sasuke challenged him to fight to prove who's dominant to the fight being stopped by Kakashi who thinks that lovers shouldn't fight each other. After the encounter with the sound 4 Sasuke left the village. He left the village because he knew that if he'd stay he would eventually kill Naruto. This left Naruto sad. So he wanted go get Sasuke back to resolve this problem between them. During the end of the fight was able to kill Naruto to obtain the ultimate Uchiha powers but didn't because he knew that if he would kill Naruto there will be nobody else that can satisfy his needs so he just Naruto KO'd there so he wouldn't follow him. But since hasn't seen or touched or kissed for so long he has forgotten the love they had, to this he is now willing to put himself into killing Naruto if he wants. but Naruto has not forgotten the love he has for Sasuke. on the way to save Sasuke Naruto finds that he has another love Gaara. the Kazekage that guards his heart, when he saw that Gaara was dead he was enraged to the point where he forgot about Sasuke and only care about Gaara like he was the only one he had ever had to love. and that's the whole. Oh yeah now he's back on the path to saving Sasuke but still loves Gaara. His new intension is to have a threesome with Sasuke and Gaara but first he needs to find Sasuke. but on one to find Sasuke he gets paired up with Hinata and is slowly forming a crush and little does he know that Hinata has always loved him. Will the treesome be turned into a foursome. we never know, but the possibility is very big. Oh and forget about Neji during the Chunin exams it all happened there. oh don't forget about Sakura her love for Naruto is growing and still growing. And last but not least Naruto's new found friend and lover Sai(actually in love with Sasuke seen when Konohamaru did his Sexy Guy Jutsu). All these hearts for Naruto because they all want him. So this end in a six way showdown. Narut-kun is so lucky. Naruto is bi just like me.
