Hey there! M'name's Taiyou. Just call me Tai, for all intents and purposes.

I've been drawing since like...what, 4th grade? Off and on.. started out drawing horses. That didn't go over so well. Dogs? Nope. I'm an animal lover, but I'll be darned if I can't even begin to fathom their anatomy once I pick up a pen.

But people? I love drawing people.
Working on the whole "nature" or "cityscape" background kinda stuff. Yeech.

ANYWAY. Never been to school for art. Never took a proper drawing class in my life. Took a colouring and pottery (don't ask, I don't understand either) class in 3rd grade and hated it. Thought those oil pastels were pretty spiff, though. xd

So I got my art start through anime. A friend showed me how. My first art piece was of Sailor Moon. or... Sailor Moon's stunt double, Stupid Moon.
Okay, bad analogy. But it was UGLY.
But within a week, I managed to surpass my friend in my art quality. She was pissed. smile

I'm not gonna go on from there, but I will say that I have a love/hate relationship with photoshop, my tablet, and my artwork in general.

It is mediocre at best, and downright painful at its worst. But a passion is a passion, even if it's really just a cold fish.
That make sense?

SO. I've always got a critique (albiet a nice one, generally) on the tip of my tongue. I'm so happy to have been directed here.

See y'all round!

Well, I don't think art classes help much, besides getting you to work.
Ironically, I'm going to an art college xd

You're not alone on that whole "nature" or "cityscape" background kinda stuff. I srsly need to works on that.

The hs fundamental art classes especially, they really teach you bad habits. Tracing/gridding... wtf!?!

One of my friends gave me her grid. It was... excruciating.

I ripped my hair out for about five minutes, then handed it back to her. >P Blech. What's that teaching you, other than how to do still lifes and whatnot? "Here, copy all this and if you keep at it, eventually you'll get better!"
-.- I think not. *puffs up*

Psh, it doesn't even teach how to do still lives very well.

I like freehand artists, who do things without guidelines/gridlines anything... They just really amaze me.

I use grids for abrastacts or for photos. ussually draw a quick shape for scaling and then just go with it.

A lot of artists don't actually take art classes but they can still draw well!

You're da gallery looks really great too. ^^

And seriously, I'm sure that anyone who's ever seen an old picture that they drew would feel embarassed. I started drawing like... powerpuff girls in grade two. D: I never did draw sailormoon, though I started drawing anime at around grade seven, but only took up frequent drawing last year (in year nine)

I suck at digital work, but that's why I practise to learn more. Hope to receive some pointers from a talented artist like yourself some time. ^^
