I think he's talking more about the people who just say the are a christian. You know the "Why yes, I am a christian. Pass the beer." type of people. They go to church once or twice, are in FCA, or have a Bible in their room and think that qualifies them as a Christian. And then they act like they aren't. Sinning like its going out of style. So then people think that behavior is tiypical of all Christians and call everyone hypocrites.
Or at least, that's the kind of people that irk me and make me feel ashamed to be a Christian.

In that case, as I also wrote, they're just proving they're not Christians. Christian life is radically different from wordly life. True Christians are able to give anything away, even if it's something licit, if it would bring a bad name to Jesus. That's not a reason to be ashamed of being a Christian: It's a reason to humble yourself before the Lord, and teach them the right way. 3nodding

Every case is different, but 9/10, or at least in my experience, it will explode in your face. Various things can go wrong. They'll try to turn it around on you, they'll get angry and tell you "Who are you to judge me?" or something of that sort. Its no fun. I'm not saying its not doable, just not on your part. I'd advise getting them more involved in church or something. That's my strategy.

I'd advise getting them more involved in church or something. That's my strategy. Simple again. Two Bible passages for situations such as these: "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.' If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector." (Matthew 18:15-17). "Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!" (Hosea 4:17).
These passages teach that there can be some people who will not accept others to point at their faults and teach them the right way. They become like the men in 2 Timothy 4:3: "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."
In the end, given the fact that they do not want to listen anyone's advice, God just tells us to leave them alone. Keep in mind that we can only leave this in God's hands after we have done our part in trying to help them see their fault. After all, He will be the One who will ultimately judge those cases.
Blessings. smile

Christianity is the hardest lifestyle to live. I mean, think of all of the worldly things true Christians give up. For people to really live a life of sacrifice is very very hard (I mean, the word 'sacrifice' isn't fun to hear). At least the 'hypocritical' Christians are trying by believing. Yes, they give Christians a horrible name and stating you are a Christian automatically labels you as a hypocrite. But instead of getting angry and deciding to give up the title as Christian, take the critisizm as a sacrifice for Jesus. Stay proud as a true Christian and prove you aren't just another 'Sunday Christian' by living a life following hard after Christ.

Don't let other how idiots choose to live their lives determine how you must live yours.
If they're going out there and giving Christianity a bad name, then its your job to correct and then maintain the good name of Christ.

A PM/CONVO FROM ANOTHER GUILD MEMBER dirtdevilgrunt13 Tommy The Clown dirtdevilgrunt13 Howdy, I am from Fire Fall, I wanted to talk to you about one of your posts. 1. Stop the cussing, your gonna get your butt in trouble. and for two, the title of Christian was just a theroy name given to us. Christ, the man who saved us, and IAN stands for, one who follows. So in a sense denying it is wrong. But, I agree of not saying ya, I am Christian, NOW BELIEVE IN MY LORD! No, not right. But, being ashamed of the Lord's people isn't right. "Deny me before your peers, I will deny you into heaven" 1- CHRISTAIN WAS AN INSULT/TITLE GIVEN TO JESUS ENTUSIASTS MEANING LITTLE CHRISTS' 2- OK THEN I GUESS IM NOT A CHRISTAIN IN THAT CASE. =]
Little Jesus was refering to him by when he was born.. Wow, you really dont listen? How old are you? 10? 11? 12? THIS IS KINDA WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT && REALLY FRUSTRATING.

Actually, Dirtdevil is right.
-ian suff. 1. Of, relating to, or resembling
Example - "Canadian" meaning "from" or "of Canada."
Same concept.
"Christian" meaning "of Christ." It's not insulting. It's just a "title" given to followers of Jesus.
And as Cometh The Inquisitor was saying.... Yes, there will always be people who are overzealous and quite often jerks about their beliefs, but it shouldn't affect your faith, and your beliefs or your "title." Rudeness and self-gratification is human nature. A major downfall of humanity. Not Christianity.
"Christian" doesn't mean "Obnoxious followers of Jesus who want to force you to love God with ignorance." Not at all. Because I, for one, am a Christian who is not like that.

Especially the last part.
It is hard to live the Christian life. No one has ever said it was easy, but just think of the benefits you will recieve for living such a life! It is difficult to proclaim (or even just to admit) that you are a Christian.
About 90% of my friends from school are either completely blase about my religion, or they carry a distinct dislike for it. Yes, it hurts. It hurts a lot to know that something I care so much for is so silly and negative in the eyes of others. The only thing you can do though is show them what a Christian life should look like, and why you have chosen to lead that life.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross seems foolish to those who are on the way to destruction; but to us who are on the way to salvation it is the power of God.

Hey there guys... I was reading through several posts here and I have a few thoughts.
First) As Christians you should truly desire that people know who you are and what you stand for (or rather, who) Christ should be a working and visible part of your life.
Second) A lot of people are mistakenly identifying Christianity as a religion when it is a faith. A personal RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ the Saviour.
Third)I live my life as an in your face Christian. No, I don't tell people to believe or die but my words and actions glorify God and when people comment on my being a "goody goody" I simply explain to them that clean living and respect for others is a mark of my commitment to Christ and my acceptance of Salvation. I invite others to my church and bring th eLord into nearly every conversation because that is my job, to evangelize.
Last) If you identify yourself as a Christian and truly have God dworking in your life, you absolutely should not be cussing!!!

I say, as long as your truely love God with all your heart, and believe in him and all that other stuff, then your good, but, never ever be ashamed to let people know that you are a follower of christ, because..." if you deny me, then I will deny you in front of my father" remember that???
