Yes your right ^^ she is a great character trouble is nobody seems to think to put threads up really and when they do they do repeat ones. XP
anyways on topic yes your right she is a great character, i find it horrible that in the anime they take the mick out of her because she is a virgin scream though in the manga they dont luckily. ^^
caring teachers rock, even if Shinome is not much of a good teachr at handling situations (eg crying because of a student, going out on a day trip with them, not teaching them a lesson properly ( xd ) ) she is a good teacher by heart 3nodding and belive it or not not all teachers can be like that, i mean heck i remember that there was a teacher ni my old school that dident like kids.
so yes she deserves thumbs up!
