Chris Kitmyth What they could do is mature Amy up a little bit. I mean, she I beleive is around the age when teens start to get a little bit of a clue about how to handle things. Hence it ticked me off that they showed that, and then reversed it.

They seem to be prone to doing that though alot. It seems as though whenever a step in the right direction is started and people say "yes" to it, t hey end up tossing it aside =/
((Tails SA1 vharacter advancement is my reference for this one))
But when you compare Amy in SA1 to Amy in Sonic Heroes...

Precisely.
Tails is the other character I'd have said got a particularly raw deal between the two games, but that's a whole other topic.

It all depends on which sonic universe you look at it from.
If you're looking at this situation from the comics standpoint, forget it. Its allready been confirmed in the comic that Sonic has the hots for Mina Mongoose and/or Princess Sally. In fact, if my memory is correct, isn't it one issue of Mobius 25 Years Later that Sonic is actually married to Sally? But thats beyond the point.
Contrast to Sonic X however, its either in the Japan, or French version upon Sonic and Co. return to their homeworld, Sonic's first stop is Amy's home, and he actually states that he loves her. I'm not sure which version it is, I may need citation on that.
My personal opinion though is that its a cute pairing, but I would think about any serious relationship. One thing though that I think would bring the two together and seal the deal is if the sonicverse continues its darkening path; A possible near death experience for either of them perhaps? Yes, I know there was that situation in Sonic 2006, but I don't consider that game a huge influence on the Sonicverse (thank you 4kids).

Quote: In fact, if my memory is correct, isn't it one issue of Mobius 25 Years Later that Sonic is actually married to Sally? Since M:25YL is nothing more than an alternate universe anyway, I'd call it a moot point rather than a yardstick. And whilst Sonic and Mina may've kissed once and looked at each other a lot, they were never a couple. The only character other than Sally that Archie've shown Sonic getting it on with is actually Fiona. In the original Japanese version, the background music is actually playing too loudly to hear what Sonic says. It's lip readers who reckon that it's "I love you".

I've not seen the French version either - I only saw the French series when it wasn't released in Japanese.
It's been a while since I watched the sub, but I think the subs suggest that's what he's saying. Mind you, how one goes about lip-reading an animated character, I'm not sure smile
I have to admit, I was paying far more attention to the music at that point anyhow smile

Well, you know with some of the more modern cartoons which use actual humans in them and not fuzzys, they can do a pretty good job of making the mouth move properly.
The problem with Sonic and co in how they are drawn in the cartoon, their faces are somewhat flatish....and I don't think thats easy for them to be manipulated.
