Yeah, I've been trying to poke around and do something in the DOCUMENT style that says, "This scene is now finished as of yadda yadda," but people can post after that in the same area if they'd like (which personally drives me nuts, but it's not that big a deal)...
But I've been thinking. And I know it'll be a lotta work to get GOING, but once it's going it'll be easy to keep up with...
What if we had a "History," type thread, where we - possibly manually if there's no other way - put all the past scenes together chronologically. That way new folks that come along have a convenient spot to go and find the beginning and middle of our story so far, plus there's a central, easier-to-read spot to get an idea of what we do here in the roleplay.
Of course... Like I said... It's probably gonna be a huge pain to get that together... But it would be SOOOO SOOOOO SUPER NEAT to be able to read everything we've done up until now as a story.
Just some thoughts... I like the idea of some sort of expiration, though it'd kinda be nice to make mention of it before that point so that people can write in their last poses and kinda conclude the scene a little if needs be.
Anyhow, off to pose about! heart pirate heart

Savith: Make it five weeks, but leave open a "generic" thread in each area-section permanently.
And Llune: It seems like a good idea, but it sounds like it could be simplified, somehow...

Well, Crew can move threads, and if the thread title has a time reference to it, then we can lump plot threads and time threads into it's own subforum? the most stuff ends up on top, though. And Crew can lock threads, Llune, so I think the easiest thing would be to watch a thread's time stamp on the last post and give a coutdown in the Document OOC style. Something like, "Last activity, one week ago. Thread will be locked for RP in 4 weeks." and so forth until after Blaze's 5wk (great idea!) cutoff is reached, then the thread is locked and we use Llune's archival (great idea!) to move the threads.
It will be a small beast to set up but once done should be easy to manage. Perhaps a full time Scroll Keeper Crew Member to go through, read everything, edit the titles so there's the right time frame reference, the archive and move things? Once the Redesign is closer to done and I've moved all the info contained in some of the openning subforums, we can sacrifce those to house the Archives.
(FYI: Scroll Keeper is a reference to the original source of collective elfin history known as the Scroll of Colors. Egg did similar with the Great Egg in Blue Mountain.)
I love all this feedback, team! smile

Well then "the Beast" seems to be coming together already. It'd be nice if we had all the kinks worked out before we tried to run it, though...
Maybe Llune has some basic ideas of how it'd work to get the idea started?
(And I liked Egg, too. X] )

I've been giving this Archival some thought and wanted to share it before it floats away from me.
Crew has been trying to keep much of the time frame organized by Plots, which each having a distinct title, like a book. Since Crew can move threads about, we could have an Archival Subforum, then open threads for each plot and chapter and intermission (the times people are RPing freely between plots), and list them in order... most recent on top.....
The logistics of it though....

Hiya!
Sorry for the lack of participation. RL has been hectic, really hectic. My family wnet back to Iowa few a bit, 4 days about, which meant no computer. Since then its been cleaning, school (new classes adn already projects), and indoor soccer started up. Sorry.
But Dew is back. I don't think Dew was RPing with anyone when I left, so I hope no one got stuck because of me.
Oh and Starsong, I went to Colorado Springs and some small town or something near there in the mountians. Sherwood something-or-other. Its so cool, all the streets have robin hood related names. Love robin hood!

Heh, yeah, Savith sent me a text on my phone last night but I didn't get it till this morning cause the battery was dead. Was to inform you all that Savith's daughter was in the hospital. Im late, I fail.
Hope she recovers soon! RSV is not a fun thing at all!! I'm glad she developed it when she was older and can fight it better than if she got it when she was a newborn! Best wishes and prayers headed your way! I hope she'll be able to come home soon.

Hope your daughter gets better soon. If she's as stubborn as Savith, she should be fine. My prayers and my family's prayers are with you and her.
I'm back. Real life has slowed a bit. Work and school kinda of built up. And you know, one thing goes wrong at work, something else has to happen. I dislike Murphey's laws.
Oh, and I'd offer my assistance with the organization thing, but I'm the least organized person in my town. Given thats less than a thousand people.

I missed you too Savvy. *tackles Savvy* Are you okay? I hope your little cub is okay? But Creek has a point. Stubborness does play a large part in it. And respiratory things aren't always as bad as they seem. I know, not convincing. But children are resilient, and stubborn, and don't quite get the concept of giving up.
You work Creek? What do you do?

I work as a ranch hand, well part time. Mainly do little things like cleaning the stalls at the stables and every once and a while helping fix the fences. My dad does full time ranch work, you know, wroking with teh horses and such. (its a horse ranch). i can't do all that cause of school. But my dad got hurt and I've been picking up his work. it was easy over break, but now I got school. And some idiots were palying around near the herds fence and busted it. half the herd got out adn we spent more than a day rounding them up. Most are smart enough to stay close to the food, but some were idiots and just went running. Which reminds me. Got to go change the banadage on Dan.
Best of wishes and all my prayers to you again Savith.
