Until waterbender decides to turn the ground to mush, pretty much making any non prodigy earthbender be completely unable to bend it, but the waterbender is right at home.

Until a firebender comes along and melts all the defences at once with his flames. not to mention they can literally fly. making Earth attacks useless.

Zetsu, I just watched the show last night and I gotta pick some things. The waterbenders could make the ground into mud, but both Toph and Katara could bend mud because it had both earth and water. And very few firebenders can melt the earth. Many could break a boulder flying towards them, that much is true, but if one were to make a very large wall of stone, fire could not just penetrate it.
EDIT: The Dai le were awesome!

Like I said, a non Prodigy bender couldn't do it. Toph is supposedly the best earthbender next to the king.
They can still fly over the wall.

I don't really remember those guys... aren't they the guys that guarded that city that was secretly run by the fire empire?

It seems to me like it wouldn't be that hard to move mud, even for a normal person. Plus only Ozai was able to fly, a fire lord... or wait was was that word... Prodigy?

As far as Avatar elements go..
Fire is the most offensive and powerful.
Water is the most versatile.
Air is pretty much equal to water, but is more based around agility.
Earth is the most balanced.
Honestly, earth is the most fun.

My favorite chracter is the flying Bison. Not sure how to spell hsi name. I think you spell it Aapa. He was cool.

Appa, love him. I'd agree with you Hinote. But I'd have to pose that every element could be used much in the same way. Iroh was able to use waterbending principles to create a defense for lightning. It might be possible that using an earth style, one could control fields of fire, fighting using the battlefield instead of shooting fire. Perhaps using Airbending to create the agile defense that it desperately needs. Of course I'm just pulling things out of my a** here.

@Hark: I dunno man. Maybe not too long. I still can't really do this kinda guild anymore cuz I can't deal with how people "fight". The only thing I could really do is play Deus Ex Machina and run a guild.

Fire= Lightning
Water=Ice
Earth= Metal
