Raidek bowed his head to the woman who had told them about mind speech. "Thank you Madam." He turned and moved his focus to Sai, knowing the others would most likely go along with Sai if he could get him to agree to allow him to travel along with them. Raidek didn't want to tell the others of his true identity without his mask on. He centered his thoughts on Sai and made the connection.
His tone was light and chipper. He moved toward Sai and continued, He bowed slightly,

"My, thank you very much." Kaera said and accepted the feather with both hands, gently. "I promise to keep good care of this." She bowed over the feather to Tura. Kaera then turned to regard the young nobleman who had overheard their conversation. Not that she had had any intention of concealing the truth from anyone. She was as happy to teach him of this old skill as either of the other two mages. "Oh, it's quite all right, young man. I believe that knowledge is something to be shared. And I am happy to share it with you." She said with a smile. Sai was surprised to hear a voice in his mind that he did not recognize. He had thought for sure that Kaera said that it became easier to use this skill the more you knew of the person you were speaking to. Maybe this young nobleman was just exceptionally good at this particular trick. Sai knew one thing for sure, though. There was no way he was good enough to do that himself. Sai walked up to the man, close enough that they could speak without being overheard, which seemed to be the other mans intent. "How is it that you've heard of us? I've only been traveling not even a full week. How is it that you know of me but do not know my name? And why would you need powerful allies? To counter powerful enemies perhaps?" Sai asked.

Raidek took a moment from Sai and looked to the woman, "As do I." He smiled warmly at her and gave another bow with his head, before returning to his look to Sai. "That is a great number of questions." He smiled, chuckled lightly and began to answer them.
"Words can be heard in the city if you listen. Well, I should say that I have heard about several mages in the city, and did not know particularly whom you were until I saw your friends companion. Few mages are blessed with such splendid companions as hers. As to why I desire...skilled allies, say to any sort of other ally is that travel can be dangerous for one whom is searching for sages to duel. Strength in numbers and all that, and I would believe especially from this little bit I've been around the two of you, that you would make significantly better company then say some hired mercenaries. It is not that need protection from a powerful enemy or enemies, it is that travel throughout the world is better in the company of others, especially when those others have magical talent. Here I am beginning to ramble though I'd probably continue if I'd not stop myself."
He chuckled again, lighlty and smiled. "What say you, have you room for another in your company? Or are you in need of more questions answering, or even perhaps supper on me, I'd be more than happy to oblige, but first allow me to introduce myself. He tucked the weapon case under his other arm and held out a gloved hand, "I am Maximilian Travers or Sir Maximilian Travers if you'd prefer, but I wouldn't."

Sai was still a bit skeptical, but he was beginning to feel a bit put at ease also. He grasped the other mans hand and shook briefly. "I'm Sai. That's a long name, mind if I call you Max? And as to whether I'm alright with you traveling with us... Well, I have no objections. But you should probably ask my friends too. The lady mage with the griffin, there. And the mage in black out there also." Sai turned and led the way out of the shop. He walked over to and stood beside Kin. As he did Stratus landed behind them and coiled up behind his partner. Sai communicated what he had learned to his partner, with the dragon seeming as excited as he ever got. "Sorry about the delay, Kin. I know you wanted to get moving right away. We couldn't have passed up the opportunity to learn about this, though." Sai said to his friend. Stratus decided to try out this new technique after Sai had shared the knowledge of it. He also focused his thoughts on Vilya, as Sai had done. He had never been able to communicate with any human besides Sai and was anxious to see if it would work. He called out to the young mage with his mind.

Vilya raised an eyebrow at the newcomer. He seemed harmless enough. Tura sniffed the air carefully, his scent seemed slightly familiar but she could not place it. His air and posture were completely different, and at his comment the gryphon raised her head slightly.
Vilya greeted him with an incline of her head upon Sai's introduction. "Vilya." she said just moments before her name echoed in her mind. She whirled round to face the dragon with a wide smile. "Incredible!" Then she focused her own thoughts... Turning her attention back to the question at hand she replied happily. "I trust you Sai, if you think he'd be a good addition to our group than I'm for it. Besides, Carryway had heard of us, that's how he tricked us onto his ship remember? I still don't think you're very popular with the imperial guard." That last bit she said while trying to hide a smile. There was always a possibility that he worked for the guard though...Vilya kept this in the back of her mind.

Kin nodded at Sai's apology though he didn't mind waiting as much as he made it seem. Studying the new male that introduced himself as Max, Kin gave him a stern look but said nothing. Kin thought to Vix.
Vix thought back.
It also makes it more difficult to separate Vilya and Sai if I ever wanted to start my fight with them.
"New technique?" Kin asked dumbly to Sai soon after.

"Yeah, the new technique I just used." Sai said to Kin. He finished by speaking into his companions mind. Sai turned his attention to Vilya when she spoke to him. He supposed she was right. Their group was gaining quite a reputation very rapidly. "Alright, then, Max. I guess it's all good. You can travel with us. Welcome to the group." He said and held his hand out to the finely dressed mage. Stratus, meanwhile was still testing out the new techniques they had just learned. He spoke into her mind in his usual mental monotone.

Vilya was snapped out of her thoughts by the dragon's suggestion. She smiled up at him, "I would be honored." she said happily. "Speaking of which...where exactly are we going next Sai?" She put a hand gently on her companion's feathered shoulder and drew a map from the bag the gryphon carried. "If I recall...lets see...we left just before mid day.. The sun was..." Vilya spoke quietly to herself as she worked out the location of the floating city. "Here." she finished, pointing to a massive lake almost touching the Northern shore of the continent. "The closest towns are the small fishing villages scattered along the coast...they're usually pretty modest but we may be able to find a sage in this one." She moved her finger to a slightly larger dot, the name spread in elegant cursive beside it. "Its also a trading town."

"Yeah, the trading town sounds good. Discreet. I've still gotta keep a low profile till we can get our previous situation resolved. Now we've just got to figure out how to get out of here." Sai said and gestured out of the town, towards the stormwall. "There's no way we can fly through that. We'd have to hope that there's another ship heading out soon..." "That's not actually true." Kaera said. "What? There's another way?" Sai asked. Othalla spoke into their minds. "Then why bring it up?" Sai asked. "Because there are people who already have them. It's possible that you could get one of these people to escort you out for a much smaller fee than purchasing one of these items." "Well, then that sounds like the obvious choice. How do we find someone that would have one of these items?" Othalla continued. "He's the only man that knows how to craft these items, and he's only ever made a few of them. So he should know the names of everyone who owns one." Kaera said. "He runs a small shop out of his home in the upper district." She removed a small tablet of parchment from a pocket in her dress, muttered an incantation under her breath, and wrote something on the top sheaf with her fingertip. She tore off the parchment and handed it to Sai. It proved to be rough directions and an address. "Go there." Othalla finished.

Kin folded his arms. Getting one wouldn't be that difficult if we just killed them. But then again, they would get suspicious if I ended up getting one so easily... "Well, let's just go." Kin stated impatiently.

"If its between that and fighting pirates, I say we find the 'old grump'". Vilya had not forgotten the battle they had fought about Carryway's ship. She shuddered involuntarily at the memories and followed after Kin. "Well, lets get going. We should try to get back to the surface before sundown, Tura hates flying at night."

((Alright, creed, I'll just assume that you're going ahead with whatever we do then.))
"Alright." Sai said, and led the way. They arrived at Immanuel's shop a short while later. The directions had proven to be simple, accurate, and easy to follow. The building was a home, as Kaera had said it was. There was no sign stating that it was otherwise either. The house was simply built, despite its size, and appeared very practical. Sai walked up to the door and knocked. It took a few moments and then the door was answered by an old man. He was solidly built with wide shoulders and a visibly muscular physique that was obvious even through his finely cut, if practically heavy and durable, clothing. He had bright blue eyes and and closely cropped, salt and pepper, hair and a beard framing a blocky, strong jawed, face. "What?" He demanded. "Sorry to bother you, sir." Sai began, and stopped abruptly as the door slammed shut in his face. Sai's jaw dropped in shock, he had never before been treated so rudely, or dismissed in such a manner. He stepped off the small porch, his hands clenching into fists. He didn't trust himself to go near the door again. Stratus thought to him. Sai responded, surprised at how quickly the man's reaction could elicit such a response from him. "Vilya, maybe you'd better talk to the old man." He said.

Vilya was just as shocked, and blinked at the door as Sai came back. "I guess I could take shot..." But she was interrupted by a strong thought that echoed through everyone's mind. Tura strode forward, brushing past her companion, tail flicking irritably. "Tura! No, that wont help!" But it was too late, the gryphon had reared onto her hind legs and fit her claws neatly into the gap at the top of the door. Hinges flew as Tura jerked the edge of it toward her. She grabbed the piece of wood in her beak and ripped it clean off its frame. Standing back, the door still firmly in her mouth Tura glared at the human behind it. Vilya stood for a moment, then recovered and offered her hand to the old man. "Um...sorry about that...I'm Vilya, and we could really use your help."
