Slaine didn't seem to take Mizi's sudden struggling into alarm. It may have just been his sleepiness still in effect, but he still wondered what was getting the older boy so worked up. Is this how he normally acted the morning after being wasted? Shifting to rest the side of his head on one upraised palm, he used his free hand to manuever around Mizi's struggling leg to assist in untangling the sheet. It was always so much simpler to just pick off than trying to kick away in a hurry, he thought idly to himself.

The waiter's dark, yet all-too calm eyes found Mizi's panicked ones. If the other could see it, they held a certain assuredness within them. Assuring that not only was he completely relaxed, but content and happy. "I don't know where you'll be going so early in the morning," Slaine said, dropping his head back onto the mattress and hugging a pillow close to himself. "But wherever it is.. would you mind putting some bacon on for me?" A soft smile turned the corners of his mouth.

With the other's assistance, his leg seemed to flop effortlessly off the bed to accompany him on the floor. But Mizi was numb to the sensation. He was still gazing at the boy above him, catching hints of the strange almost calming stare that met his own. When the other broke away, Mizi found himself awkwardly pushing himself to his feet. He watched the boy still lying atop the bed and backed away slowly. He nodded with regards to the request for bacon but found himself hitting the wall to the side of the door and unable to bring himself to leave entirely. He stood there, frozen, looking confusedly at the tremendously gorgeous boy on the bed. Had they..? "Slaine...?" he tried to speak softly but the noise came out more like a mix between a croak and a high-pitched crack.

Ok, now Mizi had him a little worried. Slaine quirked a curious brow as the other made contact with the wall, but his voice spoke higher levels than anything. It had the young waiter out from under the warm, comforting blankets and on his feet. With the standing, it showed that he too wore a pair of pajama pants. Not stark evidence that nothing had happened, but at least neither of them had woken up in the complete nude. Then again, Slaine was beyond oblivious as to the reasons Mizi was acting to strange. In no time, he was standing in front of the other boy, hands reaching out to gently lay atop his shoulders.

"Mizi.. What's wrong?" he asked, true concern showing in his eyes. He was a little past thinking it was only a bad dream that had spooked the drink mixer. "Is everything ok? You're acting a little.. weird."

Mizi watched nervously as the other came to him and stood before his motionless frame. His bare feet were only inches away from the other's and over a foot from the door. The hands resting atop his shoulders threatened a part of his brain to malfunction. It was hard enough to talk to Slaine being shirtless across a room, but right before him? A wild look in his eyes, Mizi's eyes darted about the room in paranoia. "I... "

He looked back at Slaine looking rather upset. "Did I make y-- did I .... you... we... do things.. ? It's me. I.. my fault.. I'm...." A hand reached up to cover the forehead of his now hanging, frustrated head. He'd never felt so... lost with Slaine. Now the other probably only wanted him for the talents he had, that is, if Slaine still wanted him.

He muttered, "Mistake... I'm.. this... mistake..."

Mizi looked like some sort of caged animal in Slaine's eyes right now. Nothing he was saying was making sense to him. What was it that was making the other boy so riled up, so upset? Then the heart-wrenching word 'Mistake' hit his ears. That seemed to be the only thing that did register through the waiter's mind.

".. Mizi," he whispered, brow creasing in confusion, maybe even a tinge of hurt. "Are you saying.. we're a mistake?" The thought of something he wanted for so long actually not being desired by the second party was.. heart-breaking. Simple as that. "Mizi, please don't tell me that's what you're saying. Please." He was chewing lightly on his bottom lip, his fingers firming their hold on the other but nothing close to being threatening.

The brunette's fear and desire were having an all-out war within the messed-up confines of his mind. He wanted this to be okay. He wanted it to be all right. He wanted the boy standing in front of him-- to be with Slaine. But it killed him to think of it. Slaine... someone so good to him and seemingly much more pure, couldn't love him. Ever. Why?

~"You decided to prostitute yourself? Well, that's all you'll ever be good from now on, I guess. You can't ever stop, Mizi. Once a sl*t, always a sl*t. It's disgusting, you know. You're disgusting. I never loved you, Mizi. I could never love a whore. "~

Those were the departing words of Val Halpinard. Those were the words he left Mizi with. Those were the very words that haunted Mizi nearly every night for the last three years.

Mizi didn't expect love. No, it was too early in their relationship for that. But.. there was a way that Slaine spoke to him, held him, kissed him that threatened the fragile, protective bubble he'd placed around his own heart. And he couldn't help but think the other wanted something from him that he wasn't sure he had to give to him. The older male felt guilty for leading on the younger one into liking him... or what if Slaine only liked him the way Val did? A favor here or there... then every night.. and then dissatisfied, they left the brunette alone, in the wake of their lust and unfaithfulness.

The swirling emotions in his mind pulled the tears from Mizi's watering eyes. He shook his head. "No," he whispered crying softly, "No, we're not. I-I-I'm the mis..mistake."

"Dissatisfied?" Radevel echoed in question. "No, that's not quite the case. What is, however, is that you were deliberately trying to disobey me. I've let little things slide countless times with you, Talis, but now.. Now you hold something. Some people, perhaps even you, may think of it as a sort of 'upper-hand', but I'll tell you what it really is. What you know about Shinto's arrival here, you're holding a 'No Way Out' card. A very dangerous prize to be sure." The white-haired man let a silence hang like death in the still air. Even the call of occasional traffic below sounded muted from the dense tension.

"Let me tell you a quick story, Talis," Radevel said suddenly, raising his forearm to rest above his head on the tinted glass of the window. "There was once this very powerful demon. From his birth, he had been damned to live on the earth among all the humans. He hated it. He found them all to be so weak and so simple. By any standards, he didn't have a bad life, but he was forced to keep these little secrets. Secrets of who he really was and what he could do, secrets his father would whisper to him through his sleep, secrets of his weaknesses. Of all people, he hated his father the most for he was actually the cause of him being on earth. Very tragic. But later on, as the powerful demon grew and matured, looking to fit right alongside the humans, he became jealous and possessive of his secrets. He didn't want anyone to know of them as he did when he was younger and more naive. But it turned out, a young man learned of one of his secrets. The demon found out that the man was planning to betray him and expose the secret into his enemy's hands. Oh, but that wouldn't do. He couldn't let things fall apart so easily. So, simply enough, he damned him, just as he had been himself, to a series of torture and unthinkable pain. Easy enough to say-" a short, quiet chuckle escaped him- "he didn't live very long afterward."

After giving a couple moments for his words to settle in, he turned around to let his gaze fall fully upon Talis. If possible, Radevel's eyes resembled death itself. "So no.. You won't tell a soul about this, will you?" It was a straight-out threat. No emptiness could be found in his tone. It was simply a given threat.
Trapped like an animal.

The boy sat on the bed, not quite sure what to make of this 'No Way Out' Card. He hadn't even thought of using Shinto's existence as an upper hand. Rather, he just wanted the boy dead and out of the picture or traded off to someone else in a business deal, though he knew that either of those scenarios were unlikely to occur. The tension in the room was hard for him to bear. Was Radevel saying... he'd never be able to leave him? Not even if he wished?

As the plot of Radevel's short 'story' unfolded, the nerves in Talis's gut threatened to make him sick. His chestnut eyes widened in both shock and fear; his boyish frame trembled. He had an inkling that this demon... this demon among people-- that Radevel might be referring to himself. But Talis couldn't fathom it. He couldn't imagine anyone torturing or hurting Radevel. Radevel was his punisher. His master, over being his lover. He was so big and intimidating. He could break the boy at his disposal. How this victimized demon and a wrathful demon who dealt others pain and suffering be wrapped up in the one man he adored? Secrets. Horrible secrets separated them, was all Talis could think of. And he knew one thing about one whore in some basement. So... the one who broke a secret died? Was Radevel making this up?

When the man's formidable gaze fell on Talis directly, the boy's shaking became more violent. His breathing became shallow and erratic. No. He wouldn't. He shook his head and bit down on his lip to distract himself from crying. He was so frightened! He'd been afraid of punishment. Of losing Radevel. Of Radevel finding out about his sporadic naughty activities. But... Radevel had never looked at him that way. And Talis finally realized maybe being with Radevel was the most dangerous thing he could do.
"No, I swear... I won't, Rad."

Great.. Tears. Slaine tried to look through the glossy eyes of the boy in front of him, as if trying to read past them. He wanted to know what was bringing these sudden emotions into play within Mizi. Whatever they were, however, he couldn't let the other boy go without offering some form of comfort. So with that in mind, he brought their bodies together in a firm embrace, his arms wrapped tightly about his shoulders.

"Mizi, don't say that," he said softly, almost pleadingly against the side of the older boy's head. "You're not a mistake. Nothing even close. Mizi.. To me, you're a blessing. I couldn't be happier than when I'm with you. Please.. don't run away from me. I need you."

And yes, that's how Slaine really felt. He felt -no, knew- if Mizi were to leave him, that emptiness would return. Not like it had been before as some barely noticed part of himself, but a gaping black hole. Since him and Mizi confessed their feelings for one another, that emptiness was gone. Filled with the need to love and desire only one person. And that single person was Mizi Weller.

There he went again. Holding him. Mizi could feel that bubble straining in his chest, taking away his will to push Slaine away. His mind screamed at him that he was cruel to lead the other on; Slaine deserved so much better! But Mizi was rendered incapable of relaying any further information to the other as Slaine's reassuring voice reached his ear. He cried harder for a moment, unsure how to react fully to the caring words. Happy? He was thrilled he had truly made the other content. But... need him? Mizi needed Slaine, too. But more than anything, he needed to know why Slaine was saying these things and if they were true. They sounded so sincere!

Mizi broke off his tears and his arms slipped around Slaine's waist, pulling his lower body close to the brunette's as he clung to and held that part of the waiter needily. He was frightened to ask the question; he didn't want to know the answer. After a few moments of hugging the other to him, his nervous voice came out in a whisper. "Are you only saying this because we.. we.. slept together? What did I do to you, Slaine?"
PostPosted: Fri Jun 09, 2006 5:07 pm

They were.. closer? At least Mizi wasn't pushing him away. Something Slaine was halfway expecting to happen. The question hit him in a mess of confusion. Sure he had definitely enjoyed their 'night' together, but that wasn't the reason he had these longing feelings for the older boy. It only helped fuel it further. Now what he needed to do was convince the drink mixer to believe the same thing.

Slaine pulled away from Mizi only enough to look him in his beautiful, tear-stained eyes. "What you did to me, Mizi," he started, pausing to make sure he heard every word, "was give me a new reason to stay around. Because of you, I won't want to sleep past noon all the time. I'll want to wake up earlier just so I can see your face in the morning. I don't like you only because we slept together, Mizi. I like you because you've captivated me and now I want to be with you always."

Mizi's brow furrowed slightly, his breathing coming out a little ragged from emotion. Every word was processed. He shifted from one foot to the other, but his body relaxed in Slaine's hold. He had been swayed; perhaps it was time he believed Slaine rather than continuously harboring doubt. Mizi's violet eyes stared into the younger male's searchingly, but somehow he knew he'd find no trace of insincerity. They then turned their gaze upon the other's lips. Grazing his nose against Slaine's, the brunette leaned in and kissed him carefully. Eyes flitted upward to see if the waiter was okay with this gesture.

A sick pleasure fulfilled Radevel's hunger when he noticed the boy's shaken form. He knew he was trying to pry fear out of Talis, and just that had been accomplished. He just wasn't sure, though, if he should continue to drag his fear out or let it go for the moment. His cold gaze remained on the other as he didn't bother to count the moments, listening to his harsh breathing pattern with content. He knew if he wasn't one who had learned to control his anger so well, by now, he would have killed the boy. He could hear the sincerity in his voice, but that would never be enough to convince the white-haired man. He didn't know what could be plausible proof, but he wouldn't be satisfied until either he found it or his anger dissipated.

"Of course you won't," Radevel said assuringly to himself and threateningly to Talis. "One utterance of this situation to anyone -anyone-, even to me, and you'll regret it." Taking in another full look at the smaller one on the edge of his bed, he began a casual stride toward Talis. He didn't stop until he was standing right before him. Once there, he leaned down slightly and reached a hand to raise his chin. Then, he whispered in his ear- "I trust you'll be good and obey from now on." It wasn't a question, it wasn't a request. It was just a statement. And after such, he placed a light kiss on Talis' cheek.

Slaine answered the kiss gratefully with closed eyes and an inwardly relieved sigh. To feel Mizi's offered gesture, being the kiss, was just what he needed to put his mind at ease. The thoughts of what had caused Mizi to act in such a manner still lingered, but for now, he was merely glad that they both seemed at peace once more. He didn't move to deepen the kiss, not wanting to seem too forward in their moment of soothing passion. Removing one hand away from the older boy's shoulders, he lightly grazed along his jaw line before pulling back slowly. ".. Now that I'm up," he started, "maybe I should be the one to make you breakfast. How's that sound?"

Sunrise happened slow. Daniel didn't like sunrises. Because, they naturally dispelled illusions, made the world concrete again. This is no good for a magician.

When the light swam across the porch, the world remembered again that candles do not light and unlight themselves at the wave of a hand, and what's real is what you see glittering with morning dew, and that was all.

Daniel didn't like sunrises. He slept through them on purpose. But, not one with a defeatist outlook on life, he stood up and brushed himself off... although what he was trying to brush off, he didn't think about. Habit. And he went inside to the bakery, seeking... something sourdough, to match his mood. And then something ridiculously sugary to will himself into feeling upbeat again.

And through the doors he commenced looking like he belonged there. And there's a lot of little things to looking like you belong someplace that most people don't think about. Not looking around too much is part of it. And while not looking around too much, he stopped himself from snarling as he imprisoned a loose hair that'd drifted across his vision behind his ear.

It sounded wonderful.

However, Mizi wasn't one to play off of another's kindness. Bleary plum hues widened slightly and a hand quickly left the other's waist to try and wipe away the traces of his tears and vulnerability. He shook his head softly, trying to compose himself, yet it wasn't going as fastly as he would've liked. "Y-you don't have to do that, Slaine. I'll be okay. G-give me a minute. I can still do that, umm.. what was it? Oh, right. That bacon thing you wanted..." he protested in a soft voice, head bent down slightly as he now used the back of his hand to dry his eyes. He sniffled quietly. "I just need a sec.."
