"We should make something like what they always make!" Amalirahc said excitedly. "Fish and sandwiches and sweets and snacks and every good thing!"

"I'm sure that will be possible," Earendil chuckled. "Now calm down a bit, all right? You're going to spill your dinner."

Amalirahc giggled sheepishly. "Sorry, Earendil."

And so, when tomorrow came, Leyenda and Amalirahc looked for Lin and Miyuki so that they could go to the kitchen together.

"Miyuki!" Amalirahc called out as he bounded into the dining room. "Time for lessons!"

Amalirahc grinned and grabbed Miyuki's hand. "Come on, let's go!" he beamed, tugging her towards the door. Just before they reached the door, he stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at his mother.

"Um ... where is the kitchen?" he asked sheepishly.

Leyenda laughed. "There, you see what happens when you just charge ahead, unprepared?" she grinned. "Over this way, come on."

She nodded towards the small door in the side wall that the servants used during meals to bring in their food.

Amalirahc just about stumbled over his own feet as the smaller child tugged him across the room.

"I'm coming!" he grinned, catching his balance and running after her.

Leyenda chuckled softly and walked with Lin, opening the door for the children once they reached it.

"I have to say, I'm looking forward to this," she smiled as they headed down a small hallway.

The hallway was short, and soon they were in a large open kitchen with several fires going in stone ovens. Every wall space was shelves, and there were cooking items everywhere.

"Hello!" one of the cooks greeted them. She looked young, perhaps not even an adult yet - about Celeb's age, perhaps. As with the other Sky Elves, she had fiery hair and bright green eyes, and it seemed that she had a permanent smile on her face. "My name is Saffron. Her Majesty has asked me if I might be your guide in the kitchen today, she mentioned how the children wanted to make lunch for their friends."

"And I want to make something extra special for Mama!" Amalirahc beamed. "Because it's her birthday today!"

Leyenda laughed. "You just worry about your friends, dear heart. I don't need anything special."

Amalirahc giggled up at her. "I'm going to anyways," he told her. He turned to Saffron. "Can you help me with that, too?"

The girl chuckled softly. "Of course I can. Come, Amalirahc-sola. Miyuki-sol. Let us make a meal that your friends will enjoy!"

She took each of the children by the hand and began to give them a tour of the kitchen, explaining to them what everything was and what it was used for.

Leyenda smiled back at Lin. "Thank you. I have to be honest, I'm curious to see what Amalirahc is going to make for me. Everyone's the same, they say they don't care about their birthday, but if they're honest they're just as eager as anyone to see how they're going to be surprised."

She winked at Lin. "Even Earendil."

"Want some advice about him?" Leyenda grinned, her eyes sparkling. "Don't convince him. Just do it. Honestly, that man will never let anyone do anything for him. He puts himself last for every single possible thing there is - in case you hadn't noticed with the time it took for him to say anything to you."
