I have a riddle for you all:
In a room sit three great men, a king, a priest, and a rch man with his gold. Between them stands a sellsword, a little man of common birth and no great mind. Each of the great ones bids him slay the other two. "Do it," says the king, "for I am your lawful ruler." "Do it," says the priest, "for I command you in the name of the gods...." "Do it," says the rich man, "and all this gold shall be yours."
So tell me: who lives and who dies?

You ask a very interesting question, with very broad ideas and views. You have given power to a person who is not very unintelligent, and who is poor. He is common and powerless, but these three men thrust power into the sellswords hand by giving him the very choice to kill. So who lives and who dies. Well it would be the Priest and the Rich man. For by logic the law of man is the correct path, the sellsword would be rewarded for following the law of the land, The King. But then again the law of the land could forbid killing, so then it would be the King and the Rich man, but that would obviously go against the god, or gods. So by elimination, the King and Priest would die, for the Rich man gives him the gold and there are no consequences from either the law of the land or the law of the supernatural.
At least that is if you follow logic. Though real logic would say the sellsword kill all three and take the gold, or hold all three in his new fond power till a better reward is offered, other than gold. More power, over the king, the priest and the rich man. Even more options open up though, suicide, one death, or no death at as the sellsword chooses neither and leaves. So there you have it, the riddle is based on the responders logic and beliefs.
My answer then. The King and the Priest die and the Rich man becomes the Sellsword as the killer takes all his gold, for the riddle does say all his gold is there and he did offer all his gold.
