Don't think of me as late for saying this, cause I just saw this a few mintues ago, and i DO stay on top of each update...
HIP HOP HOLY CRAP OLIMAR'S IN THE LIST!!! blaugh
I bet it's possible to knock the Pikmin away, similar to Nana. AND... I have a safe bet hitting with the purple Pikmin causes the most damage, red one second down from that. Here how I'd break it down and why...
Purple: Most damage (In game they are 10x heavier and stronger)
Red: Second most damage, and maybe a fiery effect (In game they are flame retardant)
Yellow: Maybe an electrifying hit (In Pikmin 2 they were given a resistance to electricity, but i can't say how their ability to carry bomb rocks from the first one would go with that... litle help?)
Blue: Maybe an icy effect; might freeze prople if their damage is over a certain point (In game, they can go in water)
White: Least damage, but can poison; perhaps have Lip's Stick effect or something else altogether (In game they can withstand poison and ARE poison to enemies. they have other triats, like being quicker and can detect things concealed underground, but that may not be relevant in a Smash.)
Truth be told, I never thought Olimar would be in; Perhaps because he about the size of a quarter. But then what would we say to Kirby, who was said to be only 8 inches high? I can't imagine Kirby THAT small, can you?

I just thought of something! They could put in all three as ont AT (one would come out randomly), and get this: if you manage to hit the Glint Beetle, a Golden Hammer may drop out! Sounds good, right?

I would like to go rub this in the faces of everyone at GamFAQs who called me stupid for saying Olimer could be in, but I am a bigger person than that. Really though, if you think about it Olimer had to be in. Miyamoto worked on Pikmin, and at least half of the characters in 64 and Melee are his.
Miyamoto is spoiled, and all of his characters get in. Tsk tsk tsk Miyamoto. You are too greedy, but I still love you. I mean I love Wario too. I like greedy people don't I? Maybe I should see a therapist before I start dating huh?

I gotta be honest, I'm not really too thrilled that Olimar is in the roster. I mean, I got nothing against the Pikmin games, but coudln't they have put in someone a bit more... thrilling? I mean, you have choices like the original Mega Man, Simon Belmont, Marina Liteyears, Dixie Kong, Viewtiful Joe, Lucario, Lloyd Irving, Sheena Fujibayashi, Isaac, Andy, Chun-Li, not to mention a bunch of vetrin characters lots of people want to see who haven't been anounced yet, such as Captain Falcon, Luigi, Gannondorf, Sheik (Zelda transformation, I know, but still)... and if you wanna go long shot possibilities, there's always Cloud (appeared in Kingdom Hearts for the GBA), Tifa (if you wanted to do a long-connection), and for those who remember Shadowgate, I got two words for ya... Lord Jair.
Now, I'm not terribly upset, but if they wanted to make a big-time fighting-action game, I just think they could have picked someone closer to that class. I mean, at least the Ice Climbers beat things up with hammers.
All I gotta say left is... wow... Pikmin must have been more popular/loved thatn I gave it credit for. ^^;

Okay certain people can be ruled out as PC's. such as Ray 01 (AT[I think]) because they couldn't have a proper moveset. A PROPER MOVESET?! There's a spaceman that carries around little colorful aliens!!! WTF PROPER MOVESET?!

You know a lot of those characters can still get in. I am pretty sure Olimar isn't the final spot. The real reason he was put in is because he is an easy to aquire first party character. Also he is a Miyamoto original. Half of the characters in 64 and Melee either were created by Miyamoto, or was a character in one of his games. I am glad Olimar is in. Pikmin is unique and deserves the representation. *If Marina Lightyears gets in I will cry tears of joy. Her grab attack should totally be shaking the victem!*
