Jacob let out a strange sort of squeaking sound as he watched what he used to think was Lairon's fail-proof attack seemed to fail, as though it had dished out a massive amount of damage, the pink-haired hottie and her creepy Cacturne had retaliated quickly and appropriately, and just like that Lairon felt as though he'd been the one on the receiving end of that last hit. The armor-clad Pokemon staggered back, a bit punch-drunk from having so much of his health drained all at once. Though his Pokemon had been on the wrong end of that one, Jacob couldn't help but smirk over at Sasha. "Nice one, Babe," he called, glancing over at Ben as he was forced to recall his Mawile, though the Deceiver Pokemon was quickly replaced by the ever-familiar Scizor. Looking back at Lairon, Jacob grinned. As much of a beast as Lairon was, there wasn't much else it was capable of other than imitating a freight train, so Jacob decided to stick with what Lairon was best with - running things over. "Give 'em all you got with this one," he called. He knew quite well that Lairon was quite low on stamina now, but at the very least it meant there wouldn't be much for the Cacturne to drain. "Head Smash, now!" The armor-clad Pokemon let out a roar, already charging Prickles at full tilt, his head plate glowing brightly and more intensely than before.
One down, Keegan thought to himself now that the Mawile had been taken care of (even if technically it had knocked itself out, but Keegan wasn't going to complain about it), but he had no time to celebrate Moeder's first victory as the highly-anticipated Scizor was quickly sent out, and Keegan glanced around as the crowd around them let out an appreciative cheer. "Well, if they want a show, we'll give 'em a show," the redhead muttered to himself before looking to his Kangaskhan. "Moeder, let's see an Iron Tail," he said, knowing well that the only effective move Moeder had was Brick Break, but he didn't want to use it just yet. The Parent Pokemon let out a roar and quickly closed the gap between her and her target, and her powerful tail shone with a steely hue as she swung it at the Scizor. ===== Eve's Umbreon managed to recover somewhat quickly after being tripped by Lily's clever Vine Whip, and it was clear that the dark type wasn't very happy with being made a fool of. It also became apparent that both of Eve's Pokemon were capable of using Shadow Ball, though this time it was the Umbreon's turn. His rings all seemed to loose their golden shimmer as the dark sphere was formed in front of him, and with a sharp growl he lobbed it at the Bulbasaur. Lily wasn't quite so quick on the draw this time and the sphere of ghostly energy slammed into her side, pushing her back a few feet. "Lily, fight back with a Razor Leaf," Miharu said quickly, and the Seed Pokemon pivoted quickly on a foot before loosing a barrage of razor-sharp leaves at the Umbreon. It ducked and weaved but couldn't avoid them all, but it still stood tall once the attack had ended.
Neither Sparkle nor the Eevee, meanwhile, had moved a muscle since their Shadow Ball and Thunderbolt attacks had collided in midfield, as both could sense the other's strength, and neither one of them wanted to be the first to show their unease. Sure, their trainers had started the match off as a friendly one, but young as they were, both the Flaaffy and Eevee were aware of just how even friendly matches could become heated and tense. Eve broke the silence between the two first, calling for the Evolution Pokemon to use a Quick Attack. The little brown furball raced forward, its cute face twisted into a scowl. Miharu, on the other hand, didn't give Sparkle an order until the Eevee was almost on top of her, and that order was for a Thundershock. Though weaker than Thunderbolt, Thundershock was a lot easier and quicker for Sparkle to perform, and with a sharp bleat she launched the bluish electricity forward at her target. Eevee gave a cry as it felt a painful shock flow through its body, but it wasn't enough to stop it as it crashed into Sparkle a moment later, both Pokemon tumbling through the grass in a furry, woolly mass.

Diemia blinked a few times as she continued to study the massive Arbok in front of her, and though she didn't usually like taking defensive measures she quickly decided that she didn't like the look of those fangs. Her shell quickly hardened and became more impenetrable, and she shot a taunting glare in the Arbok's direction before slamming her claws down on the ground, clearly unafraid of the Cobra Pokemon.
"I've never seen that Pokemon before," Devon mused out loud, eying the Corphish warily. "Is it like, related to Krabby or something?"
"She's a Corphish," Riza answered, missing the glare she'd just been given by Diemia, who was quite annoyed at the fact that there was more talking than fighting going on. "Corphish are native to Hoenn, but you never know, they could be related to Krabby." She shrugged, imagining the River crab Pokemon in her head. They didn't really look all that similar now that she thought about it, but for some reason she was almost tempted to try and catch one just to see how its abilities compared to Diemia's.
"I've never been to Hoenn," Devon answered, looking over at his arbok. "But maybe someday. But anyway, back to the battle! Arbok, let's give your Wrap attack a try!" Hissing in agreement, the large snake darted forward, flaring the intimidating patterns on its belly as it moved. Though Riza called for Diemia to evade, the stubborn Corphish just stood there, hardly moving even as she was ensnared within the Arbok's powerful coils. * * * * * Though being knocked around by the Buneary's powerful ears was quite painful, Miles refused to let it show, and instead darted back to avoid being struck a second time. After being stomped on, electrocuted by his teammate and now smacked around like a punching bag, the Buizel was ready to get serious. Katie thought for a moment, aware of just how agile the Buneary was, and she knew that she couldn't risk having it dodge too many more attacks. "I know! Miles, try your Swift attack! She can't avoid that!" she called.
Oh, swift never missed, except for in extreme cases! The Buizel nodded and jumped up, spinning around in the air as he whipped his tails, sending a stream of shiny golden stars after the impish little Pokemon. The Rabbit Pokemon's ears perked up at this and she tried with all her power to dodge and outrun them, but the Swift just wouldn't let up. She did manage to keep ahead of them for a little bit before the relentless stars caught up to and pummeled her. Buneary was now starting to look weak as she got back up to her feet. Perhaps messing with this human had been a bad idea after all.

Claire deftly moved across the room toward the large staircase in the corner. It seemed like these people were happy to leave the inside of the first floor unguarded since they had taken control of the outside. But just in case, it was best to not dawdle. Claire took a first cautious step onto the wooden staircase. A light squeak, but nothing too bad. Hopefully the rest of the stairs would be just as forgiving otherwise sneaking around would be quite troublesome.
Claire peeked over the banister into the next floor. No one in sight just yet, but the large wooden pillar in the center of the room obscured her view of the far side. Well, since they already knew she was here, to some extent, no need to be overly cautious. Claire strolled leisurely up the stairs. The blonde girl began to cross the room to the next staircase. As it came into her view, a pair of black panted feet were descending down the staircase.
Crap! Claire thought as she quickly jumped to the side where she would be less likely to be seen. Before the man could get a chance to notice her Kokoro leapt from her perch on Claire's shoulder, flames ablaze. "Quiiiil!" She challenged.
"What?" The main exclaimed as the fire mouse obstructed his escape route. "What's a kid doing here? Well, if it's a battle you want, then that's what you'll get!" The man exclaimed as he threw a Pokeball into the air. After the short explosion of light, a small brown Pokemon with large ears was revealed: a Sentret.

It all happened so fast that it was incredibly difficult for anyone to follow. By now, all the young martial arts students in the Dojo had gathered around to witness Mateo's battle with Sabrina's younger sister, and the spectators all let out a collective gasp of surprise as the Misdreavus made a daring move to get behind Medicham. Medicham herself was quite unprepared for Anna's sudden movements and the flames covering her fists winked out as she turned to see where the ghost had gone off to. The scene unfolded as though it were in slow motion; Medicham's expression of shock was seemingly frozen on her face, the ghostly energy surrounding Anna flickering slightly. There was absolutely nothing Medicham could do as the Shadow Ball sped towards her, her eyes wide with fear. Though it seemed like minutes, it was over in seconds. The Shadow Ball caused a great deal of damage and Medicham fell to the mat. With great effort the fighting and psychic Pokemon raised her head, and gave a respectful nod to Nina and her Misdreavus. Well-played, Miss Williams, Miss Anna, she thought-spoke before succumbing to unconsciousness, and she was returned to the safety of her PokeBall a moment or so later.
"M-Medicham has been d-defeated," Tei called from the referee's platform, the shakiness in his voice reflected in the wide, shocked eyes of the Dojo's students.
"Mateo-Sensei lost?" whispered a young boy, a white belt tied about his waist.
"I can't believe it," added a girl, wiping her eyes on the sleeves of her white uniform.
Mateo raised his hand, and hushed silence fell over the members of the Dojo. His expression was pained as he locked eyes with Sabrina, and then with Nina. "That's it," he said plainly. "You have won." He extended his hand for the psychics to shake, but the disappointment was clear in his brown eyes. "Congratulations." ===== "Eevee, you have to get away from her," Eve called, eying the Flaaffy warily. She didn't want to chance the electric type's Static ability kicking in and paralyzing Eevee. The little brown furball jumped to his feet and dashed away, being sure to sweep his bushy tail along the ground and kick up a cloud of grit and sand into Sparkle's face as he retreated.
"Sparkle, fight back with a Thundershock!" Miharu shouted, but the sand had done such a good job of blinding the poor Flaaffy that her attack missed by quite a bit. Eve had to move out of the way to avoid being zapped. Meanwhile her Umbreon had taken matters into its own paws and was rushing at Lily with what looked like a Tackle, though this time he wouldn't be caught off guard by her sneaky usage of Vine Whip. Once again the vines had snaked out in an attempt to trip him up but he deftly hopped over them, pivoting quickly and throwing all his weight into the Bulbasaur's side once again.
"Lily, quick, use Giga Drain on him!" Miharu shouted, finding that she wasn't having any trouble keeping up with both of her Pokemon. The Bulbasaur recovered quickly, and instead of retracting her vines she sent them out a little further, and soon the Umbreon found himself ensnared and unable to move. Lily growled loudly and her vines began sapping the health from the dark type, feeling more and more rejuvenated with every passing second. "Now, toss him!" the small girl commanded, and once her Giga Drain was finished, the Bulbasaur lifted the Umbreon off the ground and tossed him through the air. Umbreon landed with a thud on the ground some fifteen feet away, but he quickly got back up to his feet, growling.

"All right I think we are ready to take that Slowpoke on, what do you think Cranidos?" The Head Butt pokemon nodded his large head slowly, he might tip over if he did it to fast. "All right then, Crainidos use your Headbutt against that Slowpoke." Roark somehow didn't seem to have any problems seeing in the sandstorm for some reason, neither did Cranidos it seemed. The Cranidos eyes locked onto the Slowpoke across from him before taking off his head lowered ready for attack.
Slowpoke could only really watch as the attack came at him and slammed right into his face. "Poooooooooke!" Was all he could mutter as he went sailing through the air. His face hurt a lot! The Dopey pokemon just fell down with a loud smack to the ground.
"Its ok Slowpoke! Hang in there!" Robin shouted ignoring the sand that filled her mouth. Robin watched as her pokemon slowly picked itself off of the ground.
"Follow that Slowpoke with a Pursuit!"
"Oooh! Slowpoke blast it away with Water Gun!" Jumping up onto her toes Robin worriedly watched the two pokemon clash. The Pursuit hit hard but in return the Water Gun blasted the Cranidos right in the face. Both pokemon reeled back and it looked like Slowpoke might be going down pretty soon. Though the Cranidos wasn't looking to go either, that Water Gun had really hit it hard.
"Pretty good, still your Slowpoke is looking pretty tired. Your going to have to work pretty fast, and Slowpokes don't work fast." Roark grinned as he watched the two pokemon interact. "Cranidos use your Headbutt again."
"Slowpoke blast it away with your Confusion!"
The two pokemon meet in the middle of the arena. This exchange would probably signal the end of the battle and with a suddenly huge gust of wind from the sandstorm neither Roark nor Robin were sure what exactly had happened.

As suddenly as the Sandstorm had started it finished and in the middle covered in a lot of sand were Slowpoke barely standing and a knocked out Cranidos. Upon seeing that she had won Robin let out a loud woop as she and Luffy charged into the arena and scooped up her Slowpoke. The poor pokemon passed out the moment he was jerked up by Robin, of course Robin and Luffy didn't really notice. "Haha! You did great Slowpoke!" The two laughed.
"Well, that certainly was an interesting battle." Roark said as he recalled his pokemon back into its pokeball. Heading over to Robin with a bag in his hand he waited until Robin and Luffy stopped their little party before continuing. "Thank you for the good battle. It was a lot of fun. Here is the prize money, the TM for this gym and the most important part, my badge."
Luffy and Robins eyes went wide as they stared down at the badge that was pinned to the bag. "Oh wow! Its so shiny!" Laughing slightly Robin recalled her Slowpoke as she took her prize from Roark. "Thank you for the fantastic battle. I had a blast. Maybe we can do it again sometime."
"That sounds like it could be fun."
The two of them exchanged numbers and Robin got Ace's pokeball back. Over all it had been a good battle and a great day to. Skipping over to Ampersand Robin gave him a big grin. "See I told you I could do it! Now we are one step closer!"
"You sure did show me. I didn't think that your Slowpoke could pull it off." Ampersand gently teased her as he got up. The taller man patted Robin on the head and gave her a small grin. "Come on lets go get your Slowpoke healed up." Ampersand offered.
"Sounds good." Robin grinned as the three of them headed out, though before she left she gave one last wave over at Roark. "That was a lot of fun!" She laughed as they headed over to the pokemon center. At her side Luffy grinned up at her to. He would have liked to participate in the battle to but it had been fun to watch.

Flannery bit her lower lip as Mike didn't answer her question; not really, anyways. She'd already been pretty sure that he wouldn't tell her where he was, but that didn't make it any easier to hear. She nodded along silently as he told her about his treatment at the asylum in Saffron, and she closed her eyes, her vivid imagination giving her a pretty good idea of just what he'd gone through. She'd heard about the incident in Saffron on the news a few days ago about how a 'dangerous' patient had escaped, but given the copious amounts of fire and destruction, it really didn't take a genius to figure out that the escapee had been Mike.
She gripped the phone a little tighter as he rambled on and on, not entirely sure she believed the words streaming from his mouth. He died? She blinked, all sorts of scenarios rushing through her mind. There were all kinds of incidents when people died, but were resuscitated moments later. Could that possibly be what he meant? Flannery gripped her temples with her thumb and index finger, shaking her head. No, that most likely wasn't it. With Mike, nothing was ever that cut and dried. She listened quietly as he continued to speak, occasionally making enough sound so that he knew she was still on the line. She closed her eyes, feeling hot tears streaking down her cheeks. He was waiting for her to speak now, but what could she say? How could she respond to the ramblings of someone who'd been declared clinically insane?
She took a deep breath and sat down cross-legged in the middle of the floor of the girls' change, very glad that she was here during the least busy time of day. "Mike..." she said slowly, "I believe you. I honestly do." She didn't know what else to say just yet, but she wanted to make sure that he knew she was there, and that she was willing to hear everything he had to say. I may not agree with everything he's done, but everyone deserves a second chance, the redheaded gym leader thought, still fighting back tears.
=-=-=-=-= Sleep Powder, Jaeshan thought, cringing a little at the thought of Shelgon snoring away peacefully while Vileplume attacked relentlessly. Not this time! He looked over at Shelgon, and grinned. "Protect, once more!" he shouted, knowing that it wouldn't fail since it had been at least two rounds since he last used it. Shelgon looked up at the pretty glittering blue powder and once again threw up her Protect shield, watching as the blue spores meshed with the green barrier to make for a very nice effect. "You'll have to do better than that," Jaeshan called over to Erika.
=-=-=-=-= "Oh, don't worry, Jaeshan!" Erika shouted back. "I intend to! Vileplume, you know what to do!" The gym leader didn't seem bothered by the fact that her Pokemon's first attempted Sleep Powder was blocked, but that was probably because the moment Shelgon's Protect fell, Vileplume was already busily sending another cloud of blue spores at the shell-clad Dragon. "You can't Protect against Sleep Powder forever!"

The group of Drifloon hovered around the scene for a few moments, perplexed as to where the voice was coming from. There was no child around at all! Three of the Drifloon deflated and floated to the ground, looking rather upset. Yet one remained vigilant - their glorious leader! The Drifloon floated close to the ground, one of his tassles running through the grass. He was going to find the source of this trickery. The voice grew closer and closer as he flew towards the middle of the field. His handle scooped up the orange device and he held it tightly, looking rather angered. The little girl's voice continued to boom through the Nav and he dropped it to the ground. He had to admit that these humans were rather crafty in their attempt to lure them out of hiding.
"Cable!" Kilik barked, running out from behind the building. His Electabuzz ran out with him, "Hit 'em all with that Discharge!" He reviewed the moves Cable had learned while hiding from the Drifloon, finding out that the move he used against Lucario was Discharge - an attack that hit all targets in the battle. Electabuzz ran towards the group of four Drifloon and jumped into the air, curling up almost into a ball, crackling with electricity. A smirk appeared on his face as he uncoiled and a massive wave of electricity burst from his body, catching all of his foes in its wake. "Alright!"
An ambush! Drifloon had very little time to react before he was struck full force by a very powerful electric attack. As his comrades fell, totally down for the count, he remained standing. He floated up and shook off the damage, shrugging. He had to admit, he wasn't even mad. This particular human had to be pretty smart if he was outsmarting Drifloon. However, it was a battle this human wanted and boy was he gonna get it! He wrapped his tassles around the Electabuzz's throat, pulling tightly in his Constrict attack!
Kilik growled and crossed his arms over his chest. So the Drifloon wanted to fight dirty, huh? "Use Brick Break! Punch it in the face!" Struggling against the ropes coiled tightly around his throat, Cable swung a punch straight up to the balloon and...his fist went right through! His eyes widened and he struggled even harder. Great job, Kilik! Turns out this thing was a Ghost-type! Kilik took a step back. "Well!" he laughed, "This is a surprise! Can't say I expected him to be a Ghost-type!" He pulled out his PokeDex and held it up to scan the Drifloon - something he should have done before the battle even started.
"Drifloon, the Balloon Pokemon. It's a unique typing of Ghost/Flying. It is whispered that any child who mistakes Drifloon for a normal balloon and holds on to it winds up missing. Legends say that Drifloon takes the child to the underworld and they're never heard from again. However, some feel that this is an old wives tale."
But what if it's not?! Kilik thought, shoving the device back into his pocket. "Alright, Drifloon, listen up!" He barked, "I'm gonna catch you, and when I do, you are going to tell all your friends to give back those kids! Understood?" He held the empty Great Ball in his hand tightly. The balloon tightened his grip on the Electabuzz and looked at Kilik curiously. Him? Be caught? Tired of waiting, and having heard the discription the PokeDex provided, Cable clenched his fist and flew a solid Thunderpunch straight into the balloon Pokemon floating over his head. The attack was so - pardon - shocking that Drifloon loosened his grip and Electabuzz jumped out of the way, blasting the balloon with a Shock Wave attack a few feet away.
"Alright Cable," Kilik said sternly, "Relax. Drifloon, you're mine!" He let the ball fly and it connected with the top of Drifloon's head, falling to the ground. It wiggled once...twice...
Kilik gulped. If this failed, he was out of luck. It was his last Great Ball.

Nina stood in stunned silence as she watched the ending of the match unfold. Time felt as though it slowed tremendously as she watched Anna unleash her attack, which struck the Medicham at near point-blank range, causing the larger Pokemon to fall to the ground. As she watched Medicham raise her head and nod, she smiled a little bit in response to it; You were excellent, she thought. She watched the Pokemon being recalled into its Pokeball, and then turned her glance to Anna; she nodded quickly, the Ghost Pokemon returning to her Trainer's side. Sabrina joined up with the two of them as well; she proudly rested a hand on her sister's shoulder for a moment. "You did good, kid."
Looking to Sabrina and wearing a soft smile, the only thing she could do in response was nod a little bit. Turning back to Mateo, she saw him extend his hand out for her to shake; she took it, shaking it gently, as though he were made of porcelain and could break at being mishandled in the slightest. It was a moment or two later that she hugged the man; "Thank you," she whispered to him, "thank you for this opportunity. I can see why you became a Gym Leader." Pulling away with a smile on her face, she thanked him again, bowing her head as her own sign of respect. She turned around and began her walk to the door, Anna in tow. Sabrina stayed behind for a moment with Mateo, however.
"Thank you, Mateo," she said, extreme gratitude present in her voice, as she shook her fellow Gym Leader's hand. "Thank you so much for battling with Nina. Now that she's bested you, however, it means that she must face me as well..." She grew silent for a moment. "But, that's a bridge I will cross when I come to it. Thank you." She turned around, and hurried to catch up with Nina, who had since walked outside.
"What took you so long?" she asked. "Were you gloating to Mateo or something?" Sabrina rolled her eyes. "No," she responded. "For your information, I was thanking Mateo for battling with you. You know, to be honest with you, I didn't know if you were going to pull through or not. Mateo's a wicked strong Gym Leader, and--"
Sabrina immediately grew silent as a familiar voice rang in her ears.
"I'm just kind of on the run, and...I don't...I don't want to go back to the asylum!... I've died and even that couldn't stop me!... I've got a plan. A plan to make everything right in one go, but I need a lot of friends to help me out..."
Sabrina must have had an utterly horrified expression on her face, because Nina kept asking her what was wrong. "Sabrina, answer me! Are you okay? Sabrina!"
The elder girl was silent for a few moments. "Mike..." was the only word that she could muster at first. "Something's... terribly wrong."

Mike let out a happy 'Aha!' at Flannery's answer. "I knew you'd understand!" He said, spinning around in joy. "You're the best! The very best! The most beautiful and best!" He chuckled to himself. "So listen, here's the plan. Write this down-maybe-if you think you won't remember but I know you will! I want you to meet me at exactly 11:38 behind the Gym. I'm bringing a bunch of friends. It's a surprise, and I'm kind of still wanted, so don't tell anyone okay, love? Especially not Keegan's mom. The whole town'll know if she gets ahold of this." He took a deep breath, and another, and another. For almost a minute he said nothing and tried to relax. When he spoke again, his voice was back to its normal pitch, and he spoke much clearer.
"I need to get back to my training, but I promise tomorrow I'll tell you everything. I'll answer any questions you have, and I'll explain everything that has happened to me. I'm so sorry about everything Flannery. I hate to put you through this, and I know it's selfish and stupid of me to expect that you could ever love me after everything, but I promise, tomorrow...I'm fixing everything. After this is all done, we can get lunch at that place you love. You know, that place back home...I love you, okay?" As he said the last part, he felt himself choke up, and he gently closed the device when he heard her answer.
Mike looked up, noticing that all his Pokemon had stopped what they were doing and looked at him. Camerae and Beacon were confused, but Portabello looked at him with concern. "Don't worry buddy." Mike said dismissively. "Things are fine. I just need a moment." The Breloom went back to his babysitting, and Mike recalled Beacon. He couldn't stand having the Ampharos's innocent and thoughtless gaze burn a hole in the side of his head. Mike sighed, clutching his chest. "Flannery." He all but choked out. He coughed up a bit of smoke and let out a deep breath. "I don't deserve you..."

"Heh, looks like your Corphish needs more training," Devon laughed as his Arbok put the squeeze on Riza's Corphish. "Go ahead and use Bite now!" The large, purple snake didn't seem to have any troubles following orders and it lunged at Diemia, trying its best to dig its fangs into her hardened shell.
Riza shook her head a little at Diemia's disobedience, but as the Arbok attempted to sink its fangs into the Corphish's body, Riza suddenly knew why Diemia had refused to dodge. 'Of course, how could I forget,' Riza thought, smiling to herself. Diemia was easily one of the sneakiest and most conniving Pokemon she'd ever met, and as soon as the Arbok had let its guard down the Corphish opened both claws wide and clamped them down onto the Cobra's slender body. The snake-like Pokemon let out a loud, pained screech and flailed wildly, releasing its grip on Diemia and practically jumping back to where Devon stood.
"Oh, I get it," Devon said, glaring at Riza. "You knew what was going on from the start!"
Riza shrugged, and glanced down at Diemia as she scuttled back over to her trainer. "Of course," she said, even though she hadn't actually figured it out until a few seconds before hand. "Nice Vicegrip, Diemia, now how about you blast 'em away with your Bubblebeam?"
"Corphish corr!" Diemia cried, raising both sets of her claws. They snapped open and two streams of shimmering bubbles were fired at the Cobra, who was still trying to recover after the vicious Vicegrip it had just suffered. The snake looked up in time to get a face full of bubbles and it cried out, writing on the ground in pain. * * * * * Miles gave a broad grin when he saw his Swift attack hit home, and he gave a toothy sneer to the Buneary, daring her to try and attack him again. The rabbit Pokemon wiped her mouth with her furry arm and scoffed, this weasely Pokemon sure seemed full of himself, and not only that but now he was trying to taunt her into attacking! Deciding that this was going to end on her terms the Rabbit Pokemon bounded forward, both her long, furry ears rolled up to help her move a little quicker. Miles prepared himself as the Buneary got closer to him, but at the last moment she sprang up and over him, somersaulting in mid air and Pounding hard with both ears, which had lashed out faster than he or Katie could have seen. The Buizel was sent tumbling head over tails and he came to rest flat on his back.
"Miles," Katie said quietly, shaking her head as she recalled the fallen Buizel. It wasn't what she'd had in mind for his first battle, but he'd sure shown that he had a lot of heart. She looked over at the Buneary and held up the empty poke ball. "See this? This is for you," she told it, but the Rabbit Pokemon just laughed before punching the air. Bring it on, she wasn't scared! Katie looked down to Kord, who seemed a little surprised that the tough Buizel had been taken down so fast, but he nodded and ran out to face off against the Buneary, static rippling over his body.

Junko only nodded slowly as the boy tripped over his words, kind of like the way he tripped over his own feet only a few minutes prior. "Eh, but siblings are like that," she explained, continuing the conversation "And it probably doesn't help that we're twins..." She put her hand up to her forehead and fiddled with her bangs a bit, looking cross eyed at them as she did so. She turned her gaze quickly to the zipper-mouthed Pokemon when it approached them. She assumed it was Mazarin's, as it was communicating with him with interesting body language. She identified it as a Banette instantly even though it wasn't native to the Johto region. Junko's mother was a Ghost Pokemon trainer and happened to own one named Jupiter. Looks like Hades made a friend she thought, as the two seemed to get along with each other.
"I'll go with you." Junko offered when the boy mentioned smoothies. The silver headed boy was quite eccentric in his actions, but then again Junko herself wasn't exactly normal in the way she acted either. This Mazarin kid was definitely amusing so she figured, why not? Jomei would surely be infuriated to know that his little sister was hanging out with some unknown guy. He was always very protective of her, only he was allowed to bully her. But whatever, this would be his punishment for losing the race. "A smoothie sounds great right now."~~~~ "Alright!" Jomei exclaimed in excitement when the attack connected. "Now, hit it with another Tackle before it get's back up. Finish it off!"
Pizza nodded without looking back at his trainer and prepared himself to make another assault on the owl laying in a pile of its own feathers. The Fire Type leaped off his hind legs at full force towards his opponent. The bird hooted angrily and quickly dodged the onslaught by flying back up into the tree in which it had first been seen. Pizza did his best to stop himself but his momentum carried the poor fire mouse face first into the trunk of a tree. The little owl hooted gleefully at the sight of the Cyndaquil's misfortune and bounced around, knocking more leaves to the forest floor.
"H-hey! Get back down here! We're not done with you." Jomei shouted, stomping his foot ferociously on the ground and clutching the egg as hard as he could. When he realized what he was doing to the poor unborn creature, he immediately loosened his grip. He sighed in relief when the egg seemed to make it through his tantrum unscathed. He then turned his attention back to the Hoothoot just in time to see it making its exit. "HEEY! Come back heeeeeere!" the boy screamed after it, "You stupid Owl! What are you? Chicken?!"
His insult seemed to hit a nerve in the little Flying Type as it instantly flung itself around and made a dive right at the boy's Fire Mouse, who was still trying to rub the pain from his head from the blunder before. Jomei tried to warn Pizza of the incomming attack but before he could get the words to leave his mouth the bird's beak had slammed into his Pokemon's exposed back. The force of the blow sent the Cyndaquil tumbling into an assortment of bushes.

"What?" was the only response that Nina could manage. Sabrina shook her head a little, rubbing her temples with her index and middle fingers of both hands.
"I just caught a surge of Mike's energy," Sabrina replied. "In doing so, I was able to catch bits and pieces of him speaking with someone; I don't know with whom, though. What I heard him say was that he's on the run and doesn't want to go back to the asylum." "Wait, the asylum in Saffron?" "That's my assumption, yes. He also said that he died, and that now he's planning something 'that will make everything right in one go,' and he needs a lot of friends to help him out." "So, are you suggesting that we go to him?" "I'm not suggesting it; I'm recommending it." "That's all well and good, but... where is he? Did you find that out?"
Sabrina shook her head. "No, I didn't," she replied. "But, I know a way of finding out. It'll take a few minutes, though, so why don't you go heal Anna up?" Nina nodded, and without a word, darted off for the Pokemon Center, Anna following closely behind.
Sabrina reached for her belt, grabbing a Pokeball and releasing Oracle from within. "Ah, Sabrina," the Alakazam said; "what can I do for you?" Sabrina quickly explained the situation to Oracle. "And I need you to read my thoughts and trace his energy as accurately as you can." "With pleasure." Closing his eyes, Oracle centered himself and focused on Sabrina's mind, specifically on the thoughts of Mike that she had unintentionally stumbled upon. It was but a minute or two later that Oracle was able to pinpoint his location.
Nina exited the Pokemon Center with a fully healed Anna, only to be startled by Sabrina and Oracle appearing in front of her via Teleportation. "We found him!" Sabrina exclaimed. "He's on Cinnabar Island, inside the volcano that houses Blaine's Gym!" "That's all well and good, but you do realize that he doesn't know you're alive, correct?" "Don't worry about it. You can just go in the Gym first, and explain things to him. Now, come on! We're wasting time!"
Resting one hand on Oracle and using her free hand to grab hold of Nina, who in turn rested her own free hand on Anna, Oracle Teleported the group out of Saffron, bound for Cinnabar.

Nina and the others materialized outside of the volcano; the blue-haired girl was uncertain as to what she should expect in dealing with Mike. If he had broken out of Saffron's asylum, he was clearly dangerous, moreso than he had been before. It wasn't even a question that Nina had to keep her guard up as highly as she possibly could. She stared pensively at the volcano for a moment or two, before shifting her gaze back to meet Sabrina's. "I'm going to go in," she said, "and I don't want you to come inside the Gym until I tell you to. There's no telling how Mike will react to me, let alone to you. If I tell you to get out of here, then I want you to do that. Okay?" Sabrina nodded, wordlessly. Taking a deep breath, Nina looked towards the volcano, carefully approaching it; without looking back at Sabrina, she wandered inside, Anna at the ready.
The girl talked with her Pokemon as she walked. "I don't even know what I'm going to say to Mike," she confessed. "Like, really. 'Hi, Mike! A lot's happened since you went batshit crazy and escaped from an asylum in Saffron City. Oh, by the way, Sabrina's not dead; she was just kidding.' Yeah, that'll go over really well." "Very funny," Anna commented, dryly. "Just... I don't know. Tell him the reason that you came to see him." "What, and say that Sabrina told me?" "No, not outright. Say that you picked up on his energy and sensed that something was wrong. If he presses the matter, just say that you had an outside source that was able to help you discern where he was." "What, do you really expect me to go with that?" "I don't hear you coming up with anything!"
Unfortunately, Anna was right. As flimsy of an idea as hers was, at least it was an idea; she would just have to go with it. The pair stayed mostly quiet for the duration of their walk; after a time, Nina came to the end of the winding corridor that she had been following since entering the volcano. She was met with a door, which she could only surmise led to the Gym Leader Blaine's arena. If Oracle was correct-- and he always was-- Mike would be inside. Wiping the sweat that had been mounting on her brow, and taking another deep breath, Nina grabbed the handle, and opened the door.
Oracle was partially correct; while Mike was not in the actual arena, Portabello and an Omanyte were playing in it. Nina smiled as she saw the familiar Pokemon. "Hello, Portabello!" she said, approaching the Breloom. "And who's your little friend?" "His name is Camaerae, apparently." Anna smiled a little bit. "You're just a youngster yet, aren't you? And you're awfully cute." "Anna, he's not your type, in multiple senses of the word. Can you ask them where Mike is?" "Pff, bossy! See if I win you another battle again." Anna spoke with Portabello and Camaerae, then turned back to Nina. "Apparently, he's on the other side of the volcano. I'd suggest we get moving."
And so, they did, bidding Portabello and Camaerae good-bye. After a bit more walking, a familiar figure came into their view; Nina felt her heart freeze for all of a moment, before she said the first thing that came to her mind:
"Hello, Mike."

Jackie barely flinched as the attack connected with her forehead. Ben was certainly glad that it was his Scizor out and not any of his other Pokemon. Even Sarah would have been knocked silly from that attack. "Your Kangaskhan is really tough!" Ben said with a smile. "I'm impressed it was able to last this long against my steel Pokemon, but it ends with Jackie! Metal Claw!"
"Sciii!" Jackie hissed, rearing back a glowing claw and swinging it at the Kangaskhan.
"Head Smash?" Sasha repeated. She had never heard of that move before. Whatever it was, judging by the speed and intensity of the Lairon's charge, it was a powerful move. The ground began to shake as the Pokemon drew closer, and Sasha began to worry for her Pokemon. "Attention, Prickles! Vous pouvez le prendre! Quand il frappe, faire la même chose que la dernière fois!"
This was going to hurt. Prickles held his arms out in front of him once again. Once again, the Lairon smashed into his chest. Prickles felt his body snap in more than one place, and spit up a bit as his stomach was forcibly compacted. The Cacturne slammed into the ground, but thanks to his roots, came bouncing back up like some sort of inflatable clown toy. As he came back up, Prickles swung weakly at the armored Pokemon. The Lairon snarled and clamped down on the Cacturne's arm as he tried to fight him off. Prickles slammed his eyes shut in pain, and his head began to spin. That second attack must have done more damage than he thought. It was getting tough to stay conscious. He was getting dizzy...
"Prickles!" Sasha cried, seeing her Pokemon struggle. "Je sais que tu peux le faire! Giga-Sangsue!!" The girl screamed at the top of her lungs, hoping to snap Prickles back to attention.
The Cacturne perked up at his trainer's ungodly loud scream, and realized that there was a dinosaur chewing on his arm. Not willing to deal with that anymore, Prickles slammed his free hand down on the Lairon's headpiece. The Pokemon roared in pain, freeing his other arm. The Cacturne then grabbed the Lairon by the face, digging his spines into the side of the Pokemon's head. Prickles pulled the now disoriented Pokemon close, and looked it right in the eyes as his own eyes began to fade into nothingness. With a low hiss, the Cacturned drained the remainder of the Lairon's energy from him. Unfortunately there wasn't much left. With an angry grunt, he threw the now unconscious Pokemon on the ground. The Steel Pokemon fell to the dirt with a metallic clang as Prickles leaned back, letting the roots and Leftovers add to the slight recharge.
