I have a question about Fright Week. Are the House Elves just basically cleaning up after the other students during the event, or can they take place in other activities going on as well? Thanks (:

For fright week, I think a costume contest is a good idea. We could have a few different categories: Harry Potter characters, other movie characters, scariest costume, funniest costume, etc.

It seems lots of you guys' ideas are a bit different from what we've been originally discussing.
Juni: do you think that we'll have a sort of "official" skeleton to release here by Wednesday so that we can have feedback from the guild. Once we do that the discussion about the upcoming event will be moved here too. What you think?

I have a question about sorting ^.^
I can answer yes to all 3 questions posted, but my name is not listed in those eligible to be sorted. But anyway my main question is, it says "not sorting until next term" ...when exactly does each term begin?
I'm unclear of that.

That list has not been updated redface No one's name should be on there, but if there is, it's from the last sorting
Always check the school calendar (located on the first page in the Entrance Hall) for those kind of dates. Right now the next sorting to look for is Early Sorting, and you can find those requirements in the Entrance Hall as well.

Idea for Fright Week: I think that a thread should be made that week for everyone to post their favorite scary scene from any of the HP books/movies. And/Or a thread to post a scary story/video, as if everyone was sitting around a campfire telling ghost stories.

Wouldn't it be cool if we could go around the castle and actually trick-or-treat. Say you roll dice and if you get 1-4 you get one piece of candy. If you roll 5-6 you get a rock. 7-9 something else and 10 nothing.

That would be cool, Neavah. One option could be you get two pieces of candy. (Maybe only use that option for one number so that it's rare/more unlikely to get.)
How do you think the whole trick-or-treat thing would work best? Would people post and roll a dice in all participating threads? Would it just be one thread and the "house" changes every 6 hours, so you can roll/post once every 6 hours to try get more candy? Or some genius plan that I've failed to see - as always? sweatdrop

Hmmm..I don't know. It might be easier for be to keep track of things if its in one thread. Maybe they can just RP they are in a different part of the castle, but still post it in the same thread.

The mods have been hard at work developing some ideas for Fright Week.
Here's the plan so far (after reading what we have so far you guys are encouraged to offer feedback and suggestions on the ideas because we want to hear them). If you have any questions, post them here.
Fright Week 2008
[x] The Haunted Maze (where all the fun happens!)
-This is the tentative "main" thread of the event. What comes into your mind when the words "haunted" and "maze" are mentioned? Tricks and Treats and a scavenger hunt are ideas in the works for this thread.
[x]Costume Contest (the official event contest)
-This year the students (and elves) will get the chance to design their House Ghost! It's a tektek contest, so you don't have to have the items. The House Ghost will be the official mascot of their House in HPGoG. The limit of the items is 10K, and more information (including the Entry Fee) will be posted as this conversation moves along.

I like the idea of designing a house ghost, but I'm not so fond of the price limit. I tek tek avis and I find it to be alot more difficult to do with a lower price limit. I vote for no limit. I like the idea of a costume contest. That would be pretty fun. If only I could finish my dream avi in time. >.<

The reason we're using a limit is so the House Ghost can be affordable. The 10K is the most our beloved Headmaster will donate to the cause. There are FIVE ghosts that have to be created. However, each House is allowed amongst themselves to go over the price limit as long as that House pays for it. The Ghost is a representation of your House so we wouldn't dare tell you guys not to make it. Only the house member's entry who each member votes as the best entry will be the one the Mods work with. Hopefully I didn't confuse you. More on that will be later.
