Also @ Ghosts: I don't think we should ban the dead people from the thread for game duration, I think we should totally allow hauntings.

You have this very well planned. Sounds great though!

I think I like the idea of awarding prizes by merit better ;0 We can discuss and give everyone that participated some say in it also. If there was something that happened that everyone laughed about for days, we can take that into consideration for example.

OHAY THERE IS ONE PART OF THIS I SUCK AT THOUGH.

We need a name for the game :<

@ Day looked at the thread it looks great. I'll see if I can think up any other titles, but it seems pretty good as is

@ Ane, I can't buy a parking permit. I have to park in the streets around my university or the student car park... I'd rather take the bus than park in there. It's DANGEROUS

I have to register my car so I can even bring it on campus...and I need the parking permit so I can park closer to the art building.

If we don't have a permit we get fined for parking outside of the student car park, but the student car park is like parking hell... and well a lot of the students can't drive and so your car ends up with a ton of dents etc. But you only get given a permit if you're a lecturer or a visitor ¬.¬

Our lot is alright, I've never had my car dinged while on campus or anything- but we get a lot of people who are carjacked or robbed in our parking lots after hours D;

That's why I don't go to school after hours anymore.

@Aneyana: I think you'd have time ;0 It won't be quite as quickie as Carmella's game was, since it's more oriented towards being social and fun and less towards being solved as quickly as possible. I'm not going to put a time restriction of a week on each game or anything so even if you only popped in like... Once every few days or so as time allowed, it would still be all good xD

Ohhh yes we can have people vote who they think should win!

Also I think the ghosts can hang around to help confuse or work out who is the killer. But they just can't name anyone.

Hummm or perhaps if we had someone announce who they thought was the killer each round and if they were wrong then they get killed? But we will have to figure out who has to guess each round... or perhaps we can do a survivor thing where they all vote to see who the killer is and the person they 'vote off' if it's right they win and if it's wrong that person dies.

I think that over complicates it D; Voting would also limit what the killer could do which would make that element less fun. 'We're voting this person off.... Guess I need to think of a way to kill them now.' As opposed to 'Time to kill someone, who is where and what do I have to work with.' It would take some of the spontaneity out of finding corpses and clues too- if they're voting on who they think it is, then they know they're either going to get it right or find a body. It makes the story behind it less compelling to follow I think.

Having one guess is more realistic, too ;0 In mystery novels, the detectives only get one shot at getting it right.

@Rounds: I'd envisioned a round as the time between when the first corpse is found and when the mystery is actually solved, with one chance to guess. If we give multiple opportunities, even at the risk of death, there's really not much chance that the killer is going to win because everyone is just going to guess someone and it's going to create a competition to see who solves the mystery first. All the teamwork elements will vanish :<

I can see where you are coming from. I guess I was trying to get rid of the whole 'but I was KILLED first so I didn't get a fair shot' but if they are 'ghosts' then I guess it's not so bad because they still have a guess.

So Basically you're saying there wouldn't be any penalty for being 'dead' as such, more just the fact the time to solve the crime is running out???

As it's set up, there's no reward for actually solving the crime- because it's co-op play and it can't be traced to a single person regardless of who pops up and actually says 'IT WAS--' and names a name. It's on a merit system for who contributes most to the actual game, so even the ghosts can win the prizes if they're posting.

In the game thread I made it was explained as basically being participation prizes- if there's something exceptional that you do (such as finding a clue that everyone else and their cousin missed) or even other things like actions that get everyone laughing and having a good time.

That was what I came up with to ensure that it was fair to everyone, including the dead and to ensure that everyone had a fair shot at the same goods at the end without jumping the gun and just blurting a name out.
