Just like Jae to suggest something he hadn't even considered. "And I trust my father's eye but this is different. He dealt with Deacon when it came to things that involved the city. We are more or less living with him and placing our lives in his supposedly experienced hand. It's a blood-stained and treasure-obsessed hand." He wasn't arguing with her optimism, he never did. It was just the simple act of telling her his thoughts that displayed his trust in her. "Of course. But I really don't want it to come to that."

and the second Shyrae's feet hit the deck, the last anchor came up, and the Chimera started to disembark from port. though a look over at the blind elf.
"You know what. I think if we see Fang I'll be happy to let you go play with your little horse and see what happens. what part of outguns me three to one did you not understand?"
rolling his eyes lightly, pointing a finger at Mailk who raised a brow at him.
"Ask your father about what can easily happen is someone uses a battleaxe agaisnt someone who uses a dagger."
Malik lifted a hand with a finger pointed.
"the battleaxe needs but one hit to win. but it may have trouble hitting a dagger a lose, if the dagger is quick enough."
Hunter gave a nod.
"See? I'd prefer not to see if my dagger is faster than his battleaxe if I can help it. are those terms you might better understand, sweetheart?"
Malik gave a chuckle. that was going to be fun to watch.
Desdemona landed on a rocky outcropping form the mountainous area around here...a few places to roost to be sure. and since she wasn't allowed back on the chimera...she might be forced to rest on that woman's ship. a distasteful idea at best, and a very bad mistake at worse. she'd not like to have to kill the woman.
the salt flats she could see form here...and some of the more treacherous areas out there. the quickmires, the quartz spires...and many others. and there was Fang and the Serpent. tormenting and extorting some nomad camp or merchant ship she was sure.

"Aye my dear first mate. And despite the crevice, we're taking it head on. If we can't devise a way over it well then we're packed for a two week journey around. Hopefully though things will go in our favor to an extent." Looking him up and down a moment. "What's got you grinning this morning?"
"You forget that he knows that Kaznec. I doubt he would risk his son's life in such a manner that a fool would. Your father is no fool." No he wasn't...and to be frank if anyone had been around long enough, they knew that Lycear was a tad over protective of his son in his younger years...but it made sense after what happened to Kaz's mother. "She doesn't seem to think so, the other dragoness." Shaking her head lightly, merely offering up what she had heard. "I know you don't and I don't think it will...things will start to turn around. You'll see." Looking to both ships for a moment as they were readying to leave. "We could fly for a while if that eases you to be off of them."
"I just don't share your thoughts." She snickered. "I come from a place where there are much more dangerous things than canonballs and battle axes." Though a twitch of ears at her father's voice...who was more or less agreeing. But that wasn't a suprise, it was battle logic. Even though one couldn't see her eyes at the moment, one could tell she was glareing death at him even if she couldn't see him at that last statment. What did he just call her? "Arrogant human. I understand just fine. It seems to be you whom isn't up to parr with this all. You don't seem to understand that I don't care for any of your opinions or your bravado," all the while walking over to him rather surely, coming toe to toe with him eventually. Never afraid to get up in one's space...she could counter him easily enough, she had more tricks than he did. At least as the present ready. "Savvy?"

"No, he isn't but he doesn't know half of the things that have or could happen to us. He has enough to worry about back home, I don't want to contact him unless its absolutely necessary." He'd come out to prove himself, in a way. See new things and experience more. Father had faith in him and apparently so did Jae. He just had to 'grow up'. "The dragoness? What did she tell you?" A rather curious look to her before nodding and gazing up to the sky. "Alright. Come on." And giving her a steadying boost by holding her elbow.

Hunter flicked the hood of her cloak, letting it fall back.
"Savvy. but don't get on my a** for wanting to keep my skin, and the rest of this little team your part of skin's, intact as long as needed. IF you think I'm some horrible little man, you'd find me a saint compared to Fang. he'd have killed you by now just for being mostly blind. probably even use your head as a bow decoration."
before turning his attention back to the helm.
"course is the salt flats. gem showed me something interesting she picked up, and we're going to look there. keep an eye out for the Serpent. try to avoid her if we can. I'd prefer not to tempt fate anymore than need be with Captain Fang."
Malik gave a slight grin to Shyrae and went to her.
"I'm surprised you don't have a bag of cooking supplies. poor pickings at that last atoll?"
before a glance by the Claw.
"and looks like the other dragons are fixing to take a flight on us."

"Sounds like a plan to me. Nothing too dangerous much like with the storm. Though I am surprised Hunter agreed to that plan or did he not and decide he's going over it no matter what?" A scoff at that. 'Probably thnks his ship will grow wings and fly. Of course yours already has." He glanced out over the sandsea and took a deep breath. "The sun is bright, the sky is blue and I can hear the grunts and groans of men putting their backs into their work. What more could a first mate ask for?"
She watched the fight between Hunter and Savvy and shook her head. It disgusted her when people spoke of Savvy's issue like it was a flaw on her character. There was nothing wrong with that sort of thing and she compensated well enough. "There was absolutely nothing there. Not a decent spice to be had." A worried look to the two going toe to toe. "Do you really think it's a good idea to encourage those two to question each other?"

"Just that Hunter isn't as cold as he seems to be. They have history, though I can't quite figure how she can look at him in positive light. Gilded cages apparently don't make all feel the same way." Shrugging lightly before letting him help her up back into the air. Despite what some may think, it was a bit challenging to get straight up off the ground. Took practice. But as ships moved out, so did they though rather in air than sand. "Other than that...just searching conversation. I don't think we'll see her too soon though, she seemed loathe to come back to these ships too soon." Pulling a map from her satchel and handing it over to him. "A look where we're going, the salt beds."
Not much movement from her as he flicked her hood back, merely holding his eyes with her own as she apparenly had been doing all along. Oh yes it still amused her that he didn't know her name, yet used her nickname all the time. "My little team. There are three people on this ship myself included that I even give a second glance to." Grabbing him by his shirt collar as he had turneed his attention from her, and pulling him down back eye level, Chy on her shoulder hissing and shuffling at her own agitation. "You would both be fools then for underestimating exactly what I can accomplish. That's the problem with you humans...you only see the negative in such things. Mind your ignorance." Giving him a shove and stepping away from him.
"He's actually being agreeable for once. The man's not a complete loss when it comes to better thought decision making." But a chuckle. "My beloved Gale Claw can hardly fly...she just knows how to stretch her wings and gain her speed. Don't like flying really...I get air sick. And you don't want to know how I know that and I'm not telling you so don't ask." Hey a woman had to have her secrets even from those she had known for quite a time. A pleasant laugh though to his answer. "A true man of the sandseas if I ever saw one! Though a first mate would always like to be captain, no?"

"Savvy I think needs to see that not everyone is going to be impressed with her name or what she can do. and she needs to learn a bit about what it's like to be in someone else's world."
nodding to her absently.
"Nothing, eh? not surprising really in a desert enviroment. find anything else that might be useful? maybe hear something?"
Hunter smirked lightly..and just because he could when she let him go, slit the hem of the arm of her robe to her shoulder.
"You're right. you have a lot of talents. but you can't see me. you can't see if I'm armed, you can't see if anyone else is armed, you can't tell if anyone right now is even aiming a weapon at you. and if they were, the only way you know about it if your bird or your friends. your bird can't monitor the entire crew the Serpent boasts. she's a huge triple gun deck ship."
he sheathed his cutlass.
"You aren't in your world anymore, your in mine. and mine has it's own rules and it's own dangers. I could have lopped your head off not two seconds ago, and Fang would have. You even being within a league of his ship makes you a target to kill and loot. he doesn't want information, he doesn't want anything but loot. he'd cage your bird for sale, sell your magic supplies to the nomads, and use your robes as bedding for a slavegirl or whore he might take on board before slitting her throat and dropping her in the sand after screwing her and taking all the money and jewelry she had."
Turning back again to look at the sands.
"I may be vile to you. a uncouth little human. but I still have some sense of morality. faded, yes. twisted probably. but it's there. Fang and his ilk don't. We're here to help you and your group, wether you want to think of yourself as part of the whole or not, do the task assigned for our own share of compensation. and because of that, I am obligated to try to keep you alive to do your job. So don't be so ungrateful that your even able to stand a foot on this ship. just because you can't appreciate the life on a ship doesn't mean you need to a b***h to those that make their living out here."
Malik gave a grin and glanced at Shyrae.
"that was a nice speech. what do you think? will she give a smartass rebuttal..or try and hurt him?"

"I think she already has that well in mind. If anything she believes that people will draw back from her because of her blindness or attempt to take advantage of her. Most only cower when they know she's a necromancer and that gives her a bad rap. Of course it doesn't help that she treats everyone like trash." She shook her head and turned back to the fighting pair, listening to Hunter's points.
"He thinks we come from a land filled with milk and honey, doesn't he? Does he know anything of the savagery of our own kind?" Splitting her robe was unnecessary in Shyrae's eyes and she shook her head. Lifting her fingers she scribed a quick rune and his own vision began to fade. "There, now he's in her world. Maybe he'll understand why she hates the ship so much."
Thobias just rolled his eyes. "I wouldn't ask for your secrets, Gem. You give them willingly when you enamored." He chuckled, "Or have had too much rum." Turning to the crew to shout another order, he glanced at his captain and executed a low bow. "Not this first mate. He's quite pleased to let all the real responsibility and blame fall on his lovely captain. I get all the fun without all of the work and still have perks to boot."

A look to her sleeve and then back up, still indulged in such motions despite her lack of vision, ears twitching and attention turning back to the one before her as he started to pull a parent like rant. Frankly it only heated her blood as he used what she didn't have against her...and yet was so very very wrong about it. That was the problem with humans, they never thought of a possibility beyond what was presented when it came to things such as this. "You're still so very presumptuous and speak in ways that are anything but fitting for our present circumstance."
Once again grabbing him by his collar and pulling him down to her level, not liking when people didn't look at her when they were speaking to her and she could tell by the change in his voice that he was looking away. Thusly she was right in his ear for the moment. "Listen to me, for I will say it only once. You are the blinder of us two if you think that I see nothing. I can see everything you want no one else to, I can see where you are going and where you have been, and you would never know. Don't presume to try a comprehend something you would never be able to." Looking through another's eyes...was not without it's effects on her person, especially since magic was involved.
Letting him go again. "I don't need you or anyone else to look out for me because you think I lack the ability to do so, I've been taught how to look after myself. So if you think you're being the moral knight, then redirect your thinking. And if you do recall...I owe you no sense of service nor any drive to help you earn your own coin and splendor when you've already tried to make your coin off of me. You were the one who instigated your own troubles with me. You humans are so quick to forget the things that you bring upon yourselves."
"That's a lot of enamoring or rum to be giving out to one woman for a little secret of hers, lot of work, don'tcha think?" Giving him an amused look and rolling her eyes as he showed off, more or less. "Ah yes, have all the fun but be able to duck under the axe when it falls, just like any good first mate. "Watch that tongue of yours Mister Robins, or you may find yourself in a bind that you could find quite irritating. I mean that of course in the most loving way possible. Now then, let's get this ship moving and pick out my best shooters, we're going to have need for deck patrol, we're not stopping at night."

Hunter listened to her halfheartedly. yeah yeah, she holds grudges, yes she hates ships, blah blah.
though when his vision started to go...that got his annoyance. great. hmm, who would do that. gee I wonder.
"Someone get that other elf and I swear cut her damn hands off."
said in more of annoyance than in his normal ordering voice. though a back to looking, or not looking, as the case may be, at the oceans off his bow.
"and I never said you couldn't see. I said you need special tool, some of which you may not always have access to. I have noticed your ability to see things you shouldn't be able to. some necromantic trick."
A shrug.
"you're in the team wether you oringinaly wanted to or not. as much as I would love to have something eat you, I'm sure that would take a nasty bite out of my profits. so I have to try and watch for you wether I like it or not. and I never said I didn't instigate. I just know when to let the past be past under certain circumstances."
Malik looked at Shyrae, and slapped her hand.
"your wasting energy. and endangering the rest of us. and it's not milk and honey. you've just never been on a ship. there's a hundred ways to die out here by others hands, and there's a thousand ways to die just by bad luck."
A slight grin.
"though I imagine you'd love to see a sandworm or these sandsharks the pirates talk about...it probably would be bad for us."

Well Caden was doing his own thing now, he went to port this time and since he didn't dress like a guard from the city he was treated differently, that and what he had learn from what happened last time served him well enough. So now he had a ring in his possession, a normal golden ring with one ruby set in the middle, and he wore it on the middle finger of his right hand. It was a lovely ring and after all he has seen in port he thought that this thing was the only item worth grabbing, he got a good deal on it too.
But now he was coming up from below deck, sword still hanging by his side as his new ring caught the sunlight in the ruby and made a little red spot on the mast. There wasn't much to do but wait until they came upon the next area which they were going to search, but that didn't stop his ears from hearing the argument that Savvy and Hunter were having, which got a sigh from him as he followed his ears to see them going at it, but with words of course.

Shyrae glared at Malik when he slapped her hand and rubbed it lightly. That was a move her father would use...she did miss him. "A captain is only as good as his crew." Giving a shrug. She may not have been on a ship herself, but she knew plenty of drow who ran them. Vesendar was nearly on the shore itself. "So is the same in the Underdark or have you gone soft in your old age? Thinking that nothing else is out there to get you and the Underdark is in fact a big, fluffy place?" Teasing her uncle of course. Hunter's vision would continue to fade until he was fully and completely blind. She wanted him to truly feel what it was like to be in Savvy's shoes. A shrug, "No different from a jerheg or other various beasts."
"You'd drink it all yourself, Gem. All I have to do is be around when the secrets start to pour." Though he grinned a moment when she warned him and merely nodded his head. "Then again, those secrets would of course remain secret from everyone else and only be in my private thoughts every once in a while...or perhaps they've all been forgotten." But the time for play was quickly over and he tipped his hat. "Aye Ma'am." Picking out a few able men, he nodded to them. "You have first patrol. If so much as a bullet singes my coat, you'll become live bait for our fine friends. Understood?"

"Touch her and I'll rot your arm right out of it's socket and proceed to force feed it to you." Oh yes, one could definately find her father in her, mostly in her temper and in her attitude regarding the world around her...though one could suppose that she merely acted out because she couldn't see it all before it came at her. Savryn could actually be just as sweet and genle as her mother, it just didn't happen offen. "Using me for profit by proclaiming me part of your team? That's laughable. You can keep your concern to your damned self, I want none of it. Don't worry, I'm sure we'll make life hell for each other often enough. But you know what trouble you've gotten yourself into, so no need to remind you." Pulling off her robe and folding it over her arm, giving an exasperated sound before walking over to the railing and leaning against it, crossing her arms over her chest. Stupid pirate. First he tries to bed her, then tried to kill her, then frame her, and now this...someone was going to have to die soon, probably the next unlucky person to cross her path.
"Yes yes I would." Giving a cute casual little shrug that betrayed her pirate ways, or at least would fool someone to believe that she was only playing pirate and not actually one. "Good show to know when to open your mouth or just conviently get amnesia. Good man, good man. And people wonder how you got to be first mate." Nodding to him as he took to things and she meandered over to the helm, taking charge of it. Felt good to have control of her ship for a again.

Malik gave a small shake of his head.
"and jerheg is nothing compared to something that an ocean can hold, is all. Remind me to show you a picture of a surface creature called a giant squid sometime. oceans are a different world."
A slight chuckle.
"I don't fear the underdark so much. because it's the world I know. I had more trouble on the surface of Andal, actually. and the oceans there, and this sand ocean here..are more dangerous and put my guard up further because even now, as we speak, there can be something under the sands right below this ship that can destroy it in an instant if it wanted to. Hence, I'd prefer you not waste energy on blinding the captain. he has all the maps and charts. and if you hadn't noticed, is very hands on with his ship. I doubt his actual helmsman can handle this ship as well as he can."
Okay, so sight was going.
"Mister Richards. give me full sail, head toward the salt beds. get the men to help if they can, and get the women off my deck. I don't want to give the appearance of some fancy merchant ship or charter. and if that necromantic pain in the a** gives anyone trouble..shoot her in teh leg or something. just get her off my deck. I'd prefer to look as little like a target as possible to Fang, and pull down our colors. no need to alert him if he's gotten word we're in the area. he'll be looking for our colors."
