I was told by Jahoclave that my best bet was to post it here. Something about instability. I think it must have had something to do with Serieve being busy and things being reconstructed. But I'll pm it to her just in case.

But Jaho was probably right, because one of us is bound to see it here, even if Serieve is wrapped up in other things. Scary_Fairy: Well, I'd guess not. If you're posting multiple critiques, though, you might as well just become staff.

Also, I'm not that good with the prose, and that really wouldn't help, would it? ninja

I'm new to the Gaian Press- and I applied after I submitted. But yes, if you're critiquing multiple things then it's just easier to become staff. Then you can also get uber-recognition! xd

It shouldn't make a difference whether you're staff when you submit; in fact, I've been thinking of submitting. If I can find something that isn't complete, what's that word Prisma used, tripe. And if you critique poetry, and Zoeidina critiques prose, it all works out. Neh?

SIX. Staff Application - 08.19.05 (1) What are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing? Strengths: I can get things across concisely, and pack a good bit of punch in a poem/piece of prose if I'm having a good day. Weaknesses: I have a tendency to not make sense on bad days, and I can't write long pieces of prose. (2) What's your favorite kind of writing -- poetry, fiction, editorial, or prose? Poetry. I have a tendency to not be able to read long pieces of writing at one time, so.. (3) On a scale of 1 - 10, with 1 being a disappearing-and-reappearing writer and 10 being a chief editor, how active do you plan to be at the 'zine? I plan to be around a 5/6. I'm a bit too shy to actually post that much, but when I do, it'll be my best. (4) How often are you online at Gaia? Once a day, if I'm not at my dad's or on vacation. (5) Preferred position? *Critic: Help review the submissions and offer commentary in the 'zine every now and then. Include a sample of your writing for this position. Critique Sample Fix your punctuation, and the slashes aren't needed at the end of each line. Mechanics: At the end of the second stanza, why not make a line that rhymes with 'dejection'? I think the last couplet in that stanza could be deleted. In the fourth stanza, in the fourth line, turn 'delay' into 'delays'. I just seems to read better in my head. In the last two stanzas, you just brought in lines from other stanzas. What's up with that? The constant rhyming made it feel a bit kiddish, too. Idea/Concept: Almost every songwriter does this. But, the difference between a good songwriter and a bad one is that the good one thinks of unique ways to let it all out, and the bad one just takes ideas from others and makes it a bit original by writing the song themself. You are the latter. I think you can keep the idea, but spill it in a different way. You can make this better, I know it. Sample of Writing origami By Scary Fairy "its a wish of time and space," she says. he really doesn't mind [or care]. it all just adds up to everything and nothing of approval--- like crumpled paper ............hiding in the streets. ............and we're just folding our fingers into images we've never seen but always wanted. fingernails littered the sidewalk ............as we pressed paper cranes to the ground so dirt dusted their wings. we couldn't help ............but say hello goodbye. [I just thought, incase Sereive doesn't check her PMs for a while, I'd post it here. I'll delete it if needed.]

Welcome to all the new guys! Sorry I haven't been around much this month guys; I'm back home for the summer, and I haven't unpacked all my stuff or gotten my desk set up yet, so I'm a bit unorganized right now. For any new reviews, there's a thread (which you may or may not have already seen) where we can hang out, discuss projects, etc, and I'll be updating it with a list of past reviews soon. Again, newbies, welcome to the crew!

Kyou Nitsune So we don't have to be on the staff to write reviews/columns/critiques? I suppose not for reviews and critiques, but I'm not so sure about columns.

You don't have to be staff to write reviews/critiques, even though it's probably better if you are (especially if you do multiple reviews/critiques or do some every issue). Columns, you should probably be staff for. Especially if, once again, you plan on doing one every issue or so (or every few issues).

Yeah, I'm looking into setting up a new policy that anybody who wants to do more than a guest column will need to submit three columns to begin with as part of the application. It's kind of annoying to have a person come in and then only do one or two columns. I should also probably set up a thread for guest column submissions somewhere. On that note, my column is in.

Awesome, thanks for the help.
If that plan takes effect I'll be sure to take advantage of it. 3nodding I'll start writing some columns soon just in case.

On that note, my column is in. that sounds like a good idea, both having a quest column section and making regular columnists submit 3 to begin with.
