Earendil laughed. "It's a date then, as Kaito would say. We need to do something other than eat together."
He squeezed Lin's hand. "It's been a while since we've done something really fun together, and I don't think we've done much particularly special since Miyuki came. It will be fun."

Lin smiled at that and squeezed back, it was true they didn't do much where it had just been the two (or in this case three) of them.
"Agreed," Lin murmured, "It'll be fun, maybe... we could have a picnic..."
Granted unlike Gaia, eating outside wasn't a luxury, it was quite common, but it still would be nice. Maybe she should bring tea... the thought made her blush.

Earendil smiled warmly. "That sounds good to me," he grinned. "And we can just relax for the day ..."
Spend some quality time together, talk about some things that needed to be talked about ... already he was looking forward to it.

She could almost feel a bounce in her step at that, it had been so long, and honestly it wasn't like she and Earendil ever went on a 'date' before.
"And learn how to swim!" Miyuki cut in because she didn't want anyone to forget, she knew better than anyone how parents could just talk and talk and cuddle and talk.

Earendil laughed and ruffled Miyuki's hair affectionately. "And learn how to swim," he chuckled. "All of us."
After all, he had to learn how to swim as well. He knew enough to keep his head above water, but that was it.
"Do you know how to swim, Lin?" he asked curiously.

"Yes...."
It was a hesitant yes, because Lin hadn't swam for a long while or rather, it was her reason for not doing so.
"But I haven't since my wings sprouted and I don't really like to pull them into my back for long periods of time, but in the water they're pretty much dead weights."

"So ... no swimming for you," Earendil guessed. Without thinking, he let go of her hand and reached back to gently stroke one wing. "So beautiful, and yet ..."
They just got in the way sometimes, in cases such as swimming.

She inwardly she shivered, outwardly she blushed. Lin had never been touched like that, and she understood just then why it was considered a private touch. It wasn't a bad feeling, it was quite good.
And she probably should stop that train of thought, her feathers ruffled and settled again reflexively.
"Uhm... well I was told Mom's people live in cities in the sky, so it makes... sense..."
At least she wasn't stuttering? She didn't even know why it was such a big deal, she never reacted to Miyuki that way and she had been a really grabby baby.

The moment Earendil saw Lin's reaction to his touch, he recalled that she had said something once that implied her wings were not to be touched. He slid his hand into his pocket, trying not to draw attention to the action.
"Of course ... not built for swimming," he murmured. He smiled down at Miyuki. "Well, the two of us will swim, anyways. We'll just relax with Mummi when we can."

"Mummi won't get lonely?" Miyuki asked looking over at her mother.
She had never thought about her Mummi not going swimming with her before.
"I'll be watching," Lin assured her, poking Miyuki's nose before taking Earendil's arm.
Treating it like it was fine, it wasn't such a big deal (at least she kept telling herself).

"Besides," Earendil added, putting one hand on Lin's arm as she linked arms with him, "Amalirahc will be there with his parents, I'm sure, at least for the lesson part - since of course they'll have to teach us."
They reached the door to Lin and Miyuki's room, and Earendil stopped. "Now you go have your bath," he smiled at Miyuki, "and at supper I'll talk with Queen Aerin and the others, and see if we can choose a day. All right?"

Miyuki looked up at him with a slight pout, but knew she would have to take that bath (she didn't like to get water in her ears).
"Okay!" she kissed him on the cheek and wiggled to get down so she could hurry. The faster she cleaned the faster she could get to dinner and they could find out when.

Earendil chuckled, his eyes warm as he watched Miyuki run off. He looked down at Lin, and a faint blush tinged his cheeks.
"I'm sorry I touched your wing," he murmured softly, hoping Miyuki wouldn't be eavesdropping. "I wasn't thinking ..."

Lin bowed down her head in embarrassment, which was such a new thing for her because she generally always met a person's gaze. It was one of those qualities that had made her eerily like her father.
However, her father had no tact the majority of the time, so this was different.
"You were showing affection... don't be sorry," she breathed out, "I mean, it's more of a private thing, and ah... yea..."

Earendil's face grew warmer. "I'm sorry," he murmured, more softly still. "I will think before I act next time."
He leaned down and kissed her on the top of her head lightly. "You should bathe Miyuki, she will be waiting for you. I will be in my room, resting, when you're finished."
