It 'twas then that Amaroq got in front of both the elf and ranger and got down to show that he would allow to ride on him since they were still in recovery. To show this he gave a curious whine that sounded as if he asked them to ride on him so they wouldn't hurt the progress the healers had made.

The ranger was looking down at the ground in sorrow. He had failed his homeland. His brown hair covered his blue eyes and he still wore his ranger clothing; the mask covering his mouth and his lowered hood. He looked up and saw a light from the many people walking, then he noticed an elf along with two another companion and a wolf.

Ranu glanced around as if in boredom, shaking his head politely to Ameroq, indicating he wished to walk. He'd been to Minas Tirith before, and knew it was forbidden to ride within the city unless so allowed by the Steward. His eyes flicked up to where the warning beacon blazed, its light burning into his eyes despite the fact it was day. Smiling at the possibility of Rohan coming, he worked towards the sixth spire, slowing to offer his hand to the elf. "Take heart, fair one. You are of a race far happier than mine, yet it is I who appears of brighter spirit."

Elrothiel also shook her head at Amaroq, but with a slight smile. She preferred the thinking time they would get by walking. She turned to Ranu as he spoke to her, accepting the hand. "My race is leaving middle-earth. Many have already departed for the further shores. Those who remain have a choice: to leave on one of the ships while there are still ships this side of the sea; or to stay, to gamble their lives on the rise or fall of the race of men. It is a desperate choice." She smiled. "These are dark days, but my spirits are not despondent. I am merely thoughtful, Ranu."

Amaroq nodded with a little confusion in his eyes as he did not understand the ways of men. He moved to behind them so that should they fall he would be there to stop their fall.

As the elf and her company moved forward, Bimithor got up and gave the elven greeting to the group.

Urelooke and his 10+ Berserkers had already slaughtered the Rohirrim with ease. Reinforcements for his horde would be here in an hour's time; by then he would be ready to kill the group that strode before him. "Looks like we're eating tonight." The savage beasts waved their swords and cheered. The troops were obviously trained and were experienced in war.

[Are you trying to say 10 berserkers took out several thousand horsemen?]

Ranu nodded, then asked in a curious yet disinterested tone, "Will you stay, or leave these shores?"

Elrothiel glanced at him, wondering if there was something behind the question. "I shall stay for as long as it is possible. There may come a time when Middle-Earth does not need my folk."

She paused, acknowledging Bimithor's greeting, unwilling to say more before a stranger. "Hail, Gondorian." She replied.

Bimithor looked down "I needn't be hailed. I failed my country.. I'm worthless."

Ranu nodded at her answer, replying softly, "Should such a time occur, I pray the Valar have let my soul depart before. A world without elves is not a world, to me."
He turned at the elven greeting, replying in the same tongue, adding in the Gondorian tongue, "Come now, let us not be dramatic, how have you failed your homeland? It still stands, does it not?"

Elrothiel smiled at Ranu's response. If she hadn't known better, she would have believed that the ranger was flirting with her. Her attention was diverted by the Gondorian's seeming crushed spirits. She was surprised by the utter dejection he showed, and was temporarily at a loss as to what to say next, grateful to Ranu for filling the gap.

"I still live and fight for my country, yes, but my lord and his council don't want us survivors." Bimithor turned around and looked up.

The horde and its reinforcements were gaining on the trail of the party. The berserkers looked around, anxiously waiting for the chance to kill.
