Rook waited, kneeling on the roof of the factory with sniper rifle in hand. She checked the scope, and checked it again. She would only get one shot at this.
The Jedi she was after walked out of the building, and Rook readied the rifle, lining the long metal barrel with the path to his vehicle. Midway down the path, the Jedi stopped. He then turned and looked towards the roof of the building. Rook felt as if he was looking directly at her, but that would have been impossible. Her stealth generator made her effectively invisible.
The Jedi then turned around and walked back into the factory. Cursing under her breath, Rook put the weapon back into its case and pulled out her blaster rifle.
"I guess I have to go to Plan B. So much for this being an easy assignment..."

As the last of the compeititors crossed the lines, Nakara kicked back, as he watched the carriers orbit in space. He already had prepared a message for the top 100 teams or competitors, but he had to make sure that they were finished. A fair amount of his personal invites were indeed in the top, but the one which he hadn't forseen was the winner, a personal registrator which managed to top his favored racer for this event. Noting the data from the space battle section, the shi'ido gave a smile as he got up and prepared for the next stage.
Sending out a message to the top competitors, direct to their ships, he figured he'd give them 12 hours on the planet before they blasted off. Each racer got a personalized letter to them, indicating when they were going to leave Umbara, which carrier to dock with (noting that they would remove the special nodes en-transit) and their next destination, the watery planet of Aquaris. He noted that the trip would take about two days, to give the compeititors a chance to relax, intermingle. Especially that Echani and Cene, who were both placed aboard the first carrier. Perhaps they would get to have some extra action.
~~~~~~
The loss at Malastare was unavoidable. Still, the squadron felt like they had been cheated, forced into an early retreat. But, orders were orders. Now above Haruun Kal, the Bathurst and her crew were sending details back to triple zero, in hopes of getting something back they could use. All the meanwhile, they had a chance to intermingle with a bit of the rest of the battlegroup stationed nearby, but not given permission to go planetside. The front lines were never a place for relaxation.
"That does it," Ritt said, sending off his request to the Jedi Council with his dictation program. "Now we just play the waiting game..."
The guard slumped to the floor, and Rook wiped his blood off of the combat knife and slipped it back into her boot. She had managed to take that one down quietly, and the less attention she brought to her actions, the better. She pulled him underneath some of the heavy machinery; nobody would find him for awhile, unless they made a regular habbit of crawling around on the floor.
The Jedi should be in one of the offices on the second level, according to the tracking marker on one of his subordinates, a spy for Marr's fiefdom. Suddenly, a dozen guards entered the factory floor and fanned out amidst the machines. Three of them went outside, probably to circle the building in search of her.
The spy must have been a double agent, and told the Jedi of her presence here. "No matter," she thought, "they would both be dead soon enough."
Rook reactivated her stealth generator and slipped through factory, passing through the watchful gaze of the patrolling guards...
"But where was that Twi'lek keeping that Rifle?" Kail asked, a look of puzzled bewilderment on his face. "Some things not even the Force can solve, Danson my friend," Altair replied with an exasperated sigh. He looked at the ramp to the Lightbringer, only a few meters away, but seemingly light years. His whole band, including M5, heaved their fatigued bodies into the vessel, and collapsed in their respective bunks.
Altair's trip to Nar Shadda had been interrupted by a run-in with Slavers, which had drawn the Investigator and his band into a months-long hunt to take apart the Slaving Ring, which had Sith backing. Nothing too onerous, however, just a vast quantity of well armed and really quite unpleasant beings standing between him and his objective. This final raid, which he and his band had personally prosecuted, had lasted close to 36 hours. But they had succeeded, so some well-deserved rest was in order.
Altair, who could refresh himself with the force if needed, felt that some good old fashioned rack time would allow him some time to think about nothing to do with the Sith.
That sort of simplicity was a luxury in his profession.
The moment he hit his pillow, he was out.
===
It was 6 of the most relaxing hours of his life before a well known Tootle woke him up.
"What is it M5?" He groaned.
The droid warbled a response, to which Altair replied with a sigh, "The message can wait, M5. I really am quite tired."
The astromech hooted a series of tones, and Altair sat up. "Sourced from Coruscant? From the Temple?"
The droid beeped an affirmative.
"Alright, route it to my personal terminal."
The Jedi pulled himself out of bed, and walked to his desk, where a short message played. He sighed, and looked at the chronometer. "I'll give them another few hours."
With that being said, he himself returned to bed, with a word burning his subconscious. 'Thule.'
===
"Thule!?" Danson said, obviously confused.
"Yes, Kail, Thule." Altair replied with a wry grin.
"If I may, sir, why the kriff are we headed there? Its so...out of the way." The Weapons expert asked.
Killem and Lycia nodded in agreement with Kail.
Eisenor nodded. "We lost contact with Thule some time ago. We figured the Empire had simply taken it, but Republic Intel found several comm transcripts from the Sith about investigating what happened to Thule, ruling out Sith Empire involvement. We're being sent to assess the situation."
"Assess the situation? Pardon me boss, but isn't that Poodoo for straight Intel?" Lycia added heatedly.
"Republic intel has confirmed the presence of at least one, possibly more, Dark Side Users. We're to eliminate them if we can." The investigator responded.
That silenced them all.
The thought of going up against a what might be a Sith would make most beings change their line of work. With these loyal companions, however, all it brought was some introspection, and made them work as hard as they could.
Killem nodded slowly and rose, "I'll need my best blades then."
He walked from the room as Kail asked "This isn't a raid then?"
"No Danson, arm yourself well, but discretely." The Jedi replied.
"Are we going in covertly or undercover sir?" HIs pilot queried.
"I'm not sure, Lycia, but get the Lightbringer underway. I'll decide en-route."
The Arkanian Offshoot nodded briskly, and walked for the cockpit, M5 following.
That left Altair alone. Another Dark Sider. He patted the saber at his side, and walked to the practice room. He'd need to brush up on his Makashi for this one, for sure...
Having boarded the transport taking them to who knew where, Cene was inspecting the damage to her ship. She would need to restock on ammuntition most certainly. The Echani worm had dodged or shot down more missiles than she normally would have required to take down an opponent. That was annoying. A thought occured to her. She remembered that the Echani was placed aboard this ship as well. Perhaps it was time to take stock of her opposition. Securing her equipment belt and checking to make sure her pistol was charged, she strode off to find the Echani.
Outside of the ship, Ardee and Pash were examining the damage to their ship and had made an interesting discovery. "What do you mean you've never seen this before?" Pash asked, suited up in his disguise. "Thats exactly what I'm saying." Ardee replied. "The tech in these tracking modules are unlike anything in the known Galaxy. This is some pretty unusual stuff." Ardee closed the panel after taking some of the less vital circutry for anaylisis. "We've been shot up so much I doubt they'd notice it was gone, but I'll look into this." "Do that." Pash said. "You might have something there." "Proximity sensors indicate you have something here too." "What?" Ardee pointed. Following her direction, Pash saw a tall, armored figure looking around the bay, the T-shaped visor marking the origin of the armor. Pash blinked as he noticed something else about the armor that made the figure distinct. "A woman?" He muttered incredulously. "That guy in the Verp bird was a girl?" "Judging by the musculature, weight, and height, I really dont think you can call that a girl." Ardee quipped. "And I think she's looking for you..."
Finding the armored Echani, Cene noted his build and height, about a fifth of a meter shorter than her. He didnt look so tough. None of the Echani did, initially. "You were lucky in space, chaakar." She said, glaring down at him. "But now, all your fancy maneuvers wont save you from me. This contest will be mine."
The day had been devoted to making calls to his contacts. Koren was in dire need of someone who had the time to devote to training his troops, a mercenary of sorts who he could trust. The job was not easy and the quality of life was harsh, but the pay was hardy and the chance to impression soldiers was invaluable for a man looking to get his name known.
But after a long day of spreading the words all over Keldabe, he was worn down and needed to visit his favorite Inn to lie down and enjoy some nice grub. So he hopped a speeder into the southern section of town, where his destination lie.
((Finally xD))
Deakin had the sudden feeling of being old. Really old. Old to the point where a little boy would run up to him, asking about war stories. It bothered him, and he shook it off. As he proceeded around, trying to find a relaxing place, he stumbled upon a young woman crossing his path. "Excuse me, sir," she said kindly. Deakin nodded.
"Pardon me, miss," Deakin replied. "You wouldn't happen to know where a young man like myself could find a place to grab a bit, would you?"
"Yes, sir," she laughed a bit. She probably thought he was an old man, trying to pass off young. "There's an inn, not very far at all from here. Just keep heading straight, you'll find it."
"Thank you, ma'am," Deakin replied, implying she was old herself. "Take care." Deakin hadn't nodded. He felt somewhat insulted. Not enough for a kill, but, enough to keep him up at night.
Looking up at the woman, Pash was certain she was trying to intimidate him. It would be a difficult thing to do for a person who held no fear. "Perhaps, Mandalorian." He said simply as he turned back to his ship. "Now excuse me. My pilot and I have to attend to our vessel.."
Aurora looked up at Ritt from her datapad she had been reading, going over her gun-camera footage as well as the damage her fighter had received in the last combat engagement with the Sith over Malastare. Bookmaking the section she stuffed the datapad back into her hip pocket. “It’s a good thing that we’re trained in patience isn’t it.” She smiled up at him.
"Patience only means you can wait. It doesn't mean you can't be annoyed or bored. But, I'm a poor jedi when it comes to keeping still. I can only imagine how much harder it is for the zeltrons," Ritt stated, leaning back in the chair and wondering what to do.
"We are scattered from our fleet, and without Stryder there, I'm not really inclined to head back to Tett... neither is the captain, for that matter. I don't know what's going on, but until we hear orders from him, I think we'll just batton down the hatch here. By definition, our orders are still the same as last time, and that was to disrupt supply lines for the sith. Without any particular sith mentioned, that gives us the right to be just about anywhere, really."
Aurora raised an eyebrow at the mention of Zeltron’s not being able to sit still. “If we’re not going back to Tett and we haven’t received any new deployment orders then we should only wait here until the repairs and re-supplying of the ship have been completed. Hanging around in orbit not doing anything isn’t good for the general moral, especially after having to fall back like we did. We should go commerce raiding, find a nice juicy convoy, and give the crew a victory before they have a chance to dwell on what just happened to us at Malastare.”
Was this Echani dog dismissing her? That riled Cene up. She was not some low class thug. She was a Mandalorian! Grabbing the Echani by the collar, she hefted him up and smacked him against the side of his ship. "Listen, worm." She said with a growl. "You dont know who you are talking to. I am Cene Quell, Mandalorian Warrior. Not some peasant you can dismiss off hand. I think you might need an attitude adjustment." She clenched her free hand into a fist. "Any other remarks you want to make before I rearange your skull?"
