Well, it's official, I was just another seasonal at Toys R Us, and I'm no longer needed(although I could've guessed that, from how massively SLOW it became, after the holidays.). It should be easier for me to find work, now that I have some time under my belt. But now I need to figure out my next move, with Community College coming up, and all...

I know, it'll just take a little time.
On that note, enjoy this piece of American cartoon history.

Good luck with the job searching, Koiyuki. I'm sure you'll find something. I'm not taking classes at my community college this quarter... just trying to find a second job. What are you majoring in?

I know for sure I want to major in Psychology. For my minor, I'm currently deciding between English, Japanese, or something else, that has yet to come to mind.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 07, 2007 10:46 am

Japanese is fun to learn, but very difficult. The language isn't terribly bad, but learning kanji is mind-shattering.

Psychology's a good subject. I love studying it myself. Do you want to be a psychologist, a teacher, or something else?

Well, in all honesty, I want to be a writer, but I know that being a successful writer, is about is likely as winning the lottery, but I still plan to go after it with all I got. However, I also want to put food in my belly, as well as being able to use my skills, to help people, so I also want to become a psychologist(which isn't easy, in itself) My friends say I would make a good teacher, so that may be something I do, while I earn my bachelors and masters degrees.

Why would you need a second job, if I may ask?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 08, 2007 4:48 pm

I work in a physician's office, so I can understand that becoming a psychologist is difficult. However, you don't necessarily need a PsyD or PhD to do therapy, but it is preferred. I know Medicare won't pay Masters level therapists.

My current job is wearing me down, but it is also because it is my parents' business. Working with your parents can be rather difficult. There are a lot of benefits, but just as many annoyances. At the same time, I'm also very depended on. I won't be there forever, so I'm trying to move down to part time until they find an adequate replacement. I'm hoping to get a night shift job; they pay well, and I can't take a pay cut.

Is there anything you hope to attain with your second job's income?
PostPosted: Mon Jan 08, 2007 8:18 pm

Anything to push me closer to getting a camcorder so I can make short films. It's my dream to be a film director, plus I also want to put the money towards art supplies and traveling a bit to see my long distance friends. However, it's mostly for the camera and things following it, such as the cost to make the films themselves.

I wish you all the luck with persuing your careers. You seem like a versatile and capable individual.

I am SO pissed.

I get a call from my supervisor yesterday when I was about to leave for Santa Rosa (a three hour drive) to visit my grandmother and get my dentist appointment taken care of.

She tells me that I HAVE to work the next day (today), at 2PM.

So, I am pissed because she didn't tell me until the DAY BEFORE, AND I hadn't seen my grandmother (who is seriously the most amazing woman I've ever met) for at last two months.

Then, after driving to work (three hours!) as fast as I can, I get into work, and she's found me a replacement for the day....but....SHE DIDN'T ******** CALL ME AND TELL ME!

Then she comes up with a bullshit story that she had "told me" while she was talking to me yesterday....except not.

She had that tone of voice like "well, you shouldn't come back to work if you don't work tomorrow".

And then, she had the gall to tell me that I could just "take the rest of the day off" ...when I'd just RUINED MY WHOLE DAY TO COME INTO WORK BECAUSE SHE CAN'T SEEM TO ******** HIRE ANYONE ELSE TO COVER THE AREA REASONABLY.

So, I got so upset that I only got like four or five hours to hang out with my grandmother, that I started crying...really hard.

And then I talked to the other managers and supervisors and they agreed that she's not really doing her job, and then she came in and started saying "we all need to talk" like it was my fault..even though I was early to get to work and had just drove three hours out of my way and it was all HER ******** FAULT.

So, the managers above her gave me Tuesday off (tomorrow) because today was ruined anyway so I might as well work.

And they gave me Saturday off so I can take a test and HOPEFULLY get a job with the county (I got it in the mail on Saturday, but the supervisor didn't get any of the THREE MESSAGES I LEFT FOR HER ON HER PHONE, so she tried to deny it to me!)

I am just so pissed I can hardly see straight.

At least the work was pretty light tonight and I didn't have too many shitty customers.

But it seriously got to be pretty bad for awhile there.

*sigh*

*hugs* Life can often do much, to try our patience, Oni. That's something I've come to know everyday I live here.

And would hope that I am, Miss Faith. May I ask what kind of films you hope to make?

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune, Oni, but at least you got the day off to see your grandmother after all. I hope things are working out.

Koiyuki

Sure. I really want to make all kinds of films; some are more realistic than others, but I've come to believe it's impossible for any film to truly be realistic. Films take three-dimensional space and turn it into two-dimensional space, as well as the fact that the director controls how everything will play out. Even documentaries cannot be objective fact because they take place behind the director's eyes and tend to show only one side of the story. There's nothing with any of those facts, but because of that, I look at all my films as a form of fantasy. However, many of them take place in alternate worlds and societies.

The first two projects I want to accomplish are an episodic series following a girl's life and how it comes to an end, and the other is a short movie I'd like to bring to life. However, the second project will require lots of help from other people and businesses since it involves a lot of travel and needs cooperation. Hopefully I can purchase my camcorder soon and start making them. I'm not sure how I'm going to edit them though. A friend of mine is supposed to be getting FinalCutPro soon, but I haven't recieved an update on the status of that. neutral

Intriguing way of looking at the craft. Perhaps some gentle prodding is needed?

agreed.

I am the master of one liners it seems. Though I rather not use them in most situations I just, hell I dunno, I just do. Kinda weird huh? On another note I had the money for a Wii and called the local Gamestop and they had three in stock... for about two minutes and they were sold before I could get a damn foot off campus... Bloody hell.
