Jelena had seemed to become completely oblivious to their talking of her as she sat right there, working on her OODDS. OF course that was usually the case when she got sucked into her work on some level. And her OODDS were quite the sophisticated piece of equipment that she was putting back together.
Not to mention she had to keep checking things over, making sure new components wouldn't short out the old ones, that it could still be wireless as well and plug in without the two different systems fighting with each other...and all contained in a pair of glasses. Figured she would invent the hard thing.
Though the alert noise from her computer caught her attention long enough to have her slide over and take a look. Oh, new email...from Joey? Something must be overly funny in the Earth papers or something. He usually dropped her a line for that.

"That's ridiculous. It was all Jellie's dream, all her idea. Everything. It was her vision and her imagination taht started it all. The government doesn't do any good for anyone anyway. Personally I think we should just do away with it but that's never going to happen."
She started moving files, transferring papers and soon the pile on her desk began to lessen considerably. It had taken her most of the day but she had taken out teh first big chunk of the organization process and she was damn proud of that.

Jelena...stared at the screen. Just stared. Honestly her toes had gone numb from sheer shock and she just couldn't move. Only star. The email from Joey was a typed up version of the printed article. No...no this had to be one of Joey's pranks...he knew better than to pull this...he was being overly harsh.
Yet as she continued to read she could only grow more anxious at it. Finally she seemed to snap out of it, or rather snap all together. The message was quickly deleted and she pushed away from her desk, standing up, leaving her precious OODDS still have in pieces. "...Excuse me a moment..." Rather unemotional voice there as she turned and walked out of her office. Of course the moment the door slid shut behind her she broke out into a run down the halls. God no, please let it be a joke.
She would hit a transport and dash through Radiance, only to have a equally frantic Joey meet her at his stand and pull her into the back, to show her the actual paper. "Oh God..." Holding that paper in her hands, she felt the rest of herself going numb as her breathing picked up slightly and she shook her head, trying to deny it. But it was all there in black and white, all the information, all acurate...color photos of her Echoes, of her with her Echoes, computer diagrams, procedures, camera shots of the back project zone...almost every intimate detail. "No..."

James got up..curious as to what had alarmed her. when he got the the computer screen...hmm, nothign there. So insert COIN and fidn out what she was looking at...pop it up on the screen..and he read through the article. His eyes got hard, violent..and he looked over at Lillia..walked over to her, grabbed the back of her coat, adn dragged her infront of the computer, shoving her down to get a good look at the screen.
"Explain that. Right now."
His grip moved to her shoulder with the biomechanical arm, and gripped down hard, forcing her in the seat.
"Writer, huh...but not that kind? so how much did you make to sell out Echo?"
that voice was getting more violent all the time.

Joey gathered her up in his arms, her dead weight a little trouble to manipulate in a manageable hold before he got hold of her bride style. Before he had had a chance to react, she had passed out, falling and popping her head on the counter to boot. Just great. First the paper, now she probably had a concussion.
He kicked open the door and started off at a half run down to Radiance's medical bay, not minding the blood on him from her...now wasn't the time to be squeamish at all...Fleet had just stepped into some deep s**t...of course, running down halls with an unconscious scientist in your arms, gets quite the bit of notice and quickly enough had some whispers going. What was going on in Fleet?

She was busy at work when she felt James' hand grab the back of her lab coat. "What..." He forcibly dragged her and there was nothing she could do, he was bigger than she was.
Then she was forced to look at teh screen and her eyes widened. The headline blared out at her and she shook her head. "No..." Her eyes scanned the article and she tried to get up, to pull out of his grip but she couldn't.
His hand on her shoulder was beginnign to hurt and she struggled still trying to break free of his grip. Denials rushed to her lips but she couldn't voice one of them. The world tilted sickeningly and she swallowed. Someone had sold out teh Echos.
Her hands started to shake and she couldn't say anything though she glanced at the byline and said softly, "That's not DJ."

He had been looking at the article now too, with a look of equal anger to James'. Erik took a personal communicator out of his pocket as it buzzed with an accompanying blinked blue light one it. Was much like the old day cell phones, but much better in vast vast ways. "Donner." And he listened to the voice on the other end, before terminating the transmission and putting it back in his pocket. "This is bad..." And he took to tearing out of the office as well.
His destination? Radiance medical bay, via call from Joey. Seemed Jelena had not taken it in the best manner after seeing the actual article. Why did he have the feeling of impending doom?

James wasn't having it. his living hand grabbed her and pinned her on the wall, the other slamming into the wall next to her hard enough to dent it.
"DJ!! What the hell are you completely stupid! Jacob Daniels..JD. then man obviously used a pen name! What did you tell him! How much was it worth?!"
His finger poitned at teh screen harshly.
"YOU were the only one even within a thousand miles of anywhere that man coudl have been even if its not your DJ! What'd you do, go get drunk and blab about everything?!"
James was yelling now. And when James yelled, that ment bad things to people he yelled at.
"You realize that if this causes ehco to get shut down, they'll down the whole god damn fleet?! Did you think that maybe without the Bioware techs here that me rennell and roselyn might not LIVE another year or less? Fell good to know that you may have just potentially KILLED three people? besides ruined lord knows how many careers and cost how many jobs?!"

She said nothing, just let him yell. Years of confrontations in her household had taught her to be quiet until the one who was so angry ran out of steam. Then they were more likely to listen to reason.
She could have tried to convince him she hadn't done anything but it wouldn't have mattered. Although she winced when he mentioned his death and others lost jobs. How had this happened?
Was it true...was Jacob Daniels her DJ. The same man who had been with her, kissed her, held her. Had he sold her out? No, her heart denied it and she shook her head. James was scaring her now and the dent in the wall was warning enough. He had to calm down or she'd be battered beneath his fist.
"James...please..."

"Please?...PLEASE!?"
that mechanical hand balled into a fist again.
"You sold us out! you got the deepest parts of this project on public display! do you REALIZE the backlash that's going to happen?! DO you even have the slighest clue? they are going to come in FORCE, do you understand. Military invasion of the fleet. my security might stop them, but even if it does, hwo woudl you like this wonderful PRISON you've created. So much for your damned DJ then. Wonder how many other secrets you spilled to your precious 'writer'! huh?! tell them how to dismantle us? tell them just what teh access codes to the MISSED are?!"

Nope, he wasn't calm yet. So she stood there, or more hung there since he had lifted her off the ground during his rant. She kept her head high and refused to show any emotion, not even fear though she was feeling it.
She was also holding onto some small that Jacob wasn't DJ. DJ wouldn't do this to her, he knew how much she cherished this job, how much she loved Echo. He'd never betray her like this, her heart told her.
But even as her heart voiced its objections her mind was already coming to the same conclusion. She had spoken to him about it, she was guilty. But it wasn't with the malicious intent James had in mind. And she still said nothing.

Erik more or less came skidding into the medical bay, almost tripping himself up as he went to Joey and the med tech who was tending to the gash on Jelena's head. Nothing major to fix really...shot of nano fusers would fix it. Instant stitches without the stitches. "She just passed out?"
Joey stepped back, letting Erik take up a closer position to the still very passed out Jelena. He nodded his head. "Standing there and reading it then bam, she was on the floor and bleeding. Clipped her head on the counter I think."
He ran a hand through his hair and let out a sigh. "You have it on you?" And he took the paper Joey had stuffed in his belt and read it over for himself. "How did they get this much? The only people who know THIS much are Trevy, me, the computers and Radiance high ups." Shoving the paper his attention turned back to Jelena, who lay there limply on the examination table. "Hell..."

James tossed her on teh ground, literally, and glared down at her, fists clenched at his sides, glaring at her.
"Say something. defend yourself, plead, ask questions, I don't care what. but this silent act is pissing me off. and if you don't start talking of your own volition, I'm going to make you talk. and I am not going to be nice about it. not even in teh most remote meanign of the word."

"To be honest, she has a concussion. But it's not that bad really. I was more worried by her raised vitals than the bump on to her head." She took the old route, getting out a vial of smelling salts, shaking it then cracking it and holding it under Jelena's nose. Sometimes, the old ways were the best.
Jelena came back to consciousness with a start. Seemed she was in a med bay bed, hooked up to monitoring equipment. Of course that equipment signaled alarm as soon as it all settled into her brain once more what had happened. "The article!" Moving quickly to sit up, only to have Erik grab one arm and Joey the other, both pushing her back down to the bed, all the while equipment alarms going off from the sudden spike in vitals.
"Jelena, you've got to calm down. Lay still." They both merely held her down until she stopped struggling and fighting them. Instead she went eerily quiet. Now this was perhaps more disturbing than anything for the two men. What was more disturbing than that? Tears.

Lillia went down with a thump. She hit the floor and winced as her head smacked against the wall. She slowly stood up refusing to remain on the floor where he had thrown her and leaned against teh wall for support. Her knees were shaking and her stomach twisted as she thought about that article.
She looked back at James, unblinking and said softly, "There's nothing to explain. But if you're ready to listen, I'll tell you what I know."
She waited to see if he was finished being violent and was ready to listen to her or not. She was not going to begin even trying to explain until she was sure he was calm. After all the minute she claimed she was innocent and didn't believe it was DJ, he was just going to get angry again.
