((OOC: What does Ariel look like? I was picturing a black filly with four white socks/stockings, and maybe some kind of white face mark - what about you?))
Esmeralda felt tired all of a sudden. For some reason, the idea of watching Xavier try to worm out of the hole he'd dug himself was no longer entertaining. She was feeling nauseous, as she had been for the past couple of months off and on, and she just wanted to take Sahara back to the barn, go to her room and sleep until it was gone. Until everything was gone.
"He's telling the truth," she said wearily. "To be honest, Summer, I can't imagine why you're interested in a guy like this. If he were trying to cheat on you, I'd let you know, because you seem really sweet and I think you deserve better. However, he wasn't. He was just being pissy." Her unwanted conscience thus soothed, she turned Sahara back towards the barn and walked the mare on, leaving Xavier and Summer behind without a second glance.
~
Roman watched the baby's first explorings with the pride of a new father. "She's so beautiful," he murmured softly. As he watched the baby, his thoughts flashed to his sister. Esmeralda would want to be here with them. He ought to go find her sometime so she could go on a walk with them and the little family. But for now, it was something that he and Lily shared. Their little secret.
When Ariel stopped about three feet away, it was Phoenix who stepped closer and turned his head to get a better look at the filly. After a minute, he snorted softly. His gaze turned to Kelly, then to the foal again, and Roman would have sworn the stallion made the connection. Maybe he was overestimating Phoenix's intelligence, but he didn't think so.
"Possible," he agreed. "But none of them seem too worried, so I doubt it's anything really serious." He patted Phoenix's neck. "Let's not borrow trouble." He watched the father and daughter interact for a few minutes before smiling slightly. "I think they're getting to know each other. I hope they are, anyway."

( OOC // Yeah, pretty much the same here. I think she would have a little white star on her nose or something. )
Lily saw the unmistakeable paternal look in Roman's eyes and smiled. The feeling of almost-parenthood always came swirling back to her when either one of them interacted with Ariel, and in her view it wasn't hard to see why. When a person experiences a birth, especially if they're close to the parents, they feel compelled to help out in the parenting. They were in a similiar scenario, and so as a human relative might have with human babies, they were almost parents. Almost. She felt as though her maternal instincts had been on the rise since Ariel was born, and remembered feeling giddy even when Kelly was pregnant. Yeah, she is. The girl said this in the same tone Roman had, a soft murmur. Feeling joyful, she stroked Kelly's neck gently and grinned.
Ariel seemed completely unafraid as she nudged Phoenix's neck gently with her nose. Lily wasn't sure what the gesture meant, but she was definitely surprised by the foal's increasing confidence. Shes warming up to him really quickly. She said, glowing. She was glad everything was turning out smoothly. Kelly was watching the interaction between her foal and her former mate seemingly coolly, but she also appeared ready to defend if it turned out that Ariel may get into some sort of trouble. As was Lily, but right now it was a tranquil and happy moment. Kelly eventually calmed enough to graze a tiny bit, but would still watch over her foal like a hawk if she felt trouble was brewing. The maternal instinct again: sometimes you never know whats going to happen.
Lily agreed with a nod as Ariel nudged at her father again, asking for something or just being playful. Phoenix was actually behaving extremely well, because somehow Lily had thoughts that he would be aloof or a little mean. As Kelly did, she began to calm down, not enough to graze but enough to treasure the moment with all her heart. This is amazing, Lily thought out loud in a voice that stayed as a happy murmur. I'm so glad this is going well.

Summer stopped and felt her anger slowly faded away as she turned and looked after Esmeralda's retreating form. She then turned her attetion back to him, "Did this have somethig to do with you yelling earlier?" she asked him quietly. She then stopped being angry altogether and realized she was back to her normal happy self though she couldn't say why she was surprised. Her mood swings had been wierd lately but she couldn't explain them. "Look I'm sorry I accused you of cheating I don't know what came over me and I really am sorry." She smiled at him and threw herself into his arms and kissed him on the lips with all of the love she possessed shown in this one kiss. She then pulled away and asked him, "Am I forgiven? Oh and what made you yell like that earlier?" she still had her arms wrapped around his neck so he couldn't go anywhere.

((OOC: LOL. Xavier totally owes Esmeralda now. White snip it is. And maybe a star on her forehead.))
Roman smiled faintly as he watched Ariel examine her father minutely. When the filly nudged her father's neck, Phoenix lowered his massive head and sniffed the baby carefully, snorting softly a time or two. He seemed to be identifying the foal. "She is," Roman agreed, surprised. "I would have thought she would want to wait for her mother to check him out and make sure he's safe first." But he couldn't deny being pleased that Phoenix and his foal didn't seem to be having problems with each other. He'd thought for sure that the stallion would do something, even if just to prove to the foal that he was boss. But there was no problem whatsoever.
It was both interesting and adorable.
Phoenix shook his head a bit when Ariel nudged him again, and whickered almost sleepily. It was a lovely moment, and Roman treasured it as such. When he glanced at Kahlilia, he knew he wasn't the only one. "They did good, didn't they?" he asked with a small smile as he patted Phoenix's shoulder. "Real good."

Ooo, I just had a thought. When the shuttle bus or something comes around four [I don't remember what time it is though here] some of our lovely campers can go and visit Chris [:
To Misery :: No problem. We still miss you though! )
Kahlilia was holding back a grin, feeling a hyper mixture of paternal pride and joyfullness. Maybe that was why human parents became so ecstatic when their child first learned to talk or to walk. Finally, she understood it.
Ariel occupied herself with examining Phoenix for a few minutes further, growing braver and braver. However, as most babies did eventually, the foal grew bored and went back to her mother's side. The entire interaction between father and daughter had lasted about five minutes, but it was a wonderful five minutes that had quite actually been a huge acheivement. When Ariel stepped just infront of Kahlilia the girl smiled and patted her gently, murmuring something unintelligable to the foal that sounded like praise. Then, being in an explorative mood, she did her little run-trot back over to Roman and Phoenix and whickered at Roman, waving her little tail again.
Now having to hold back laughter all over again, Lily smiled. They really did do good, the girl replied softly, stroking Kelly's neck. Great even. I'm really proud of them. Now, Lily wanted to reward them somehow. But how to, or what to give them? She might have to think about that a little ...

Xavier was quiet when Esmeralda adressed Summer briefly, seeing such a thing as what Blaire would call a 'girl talk' as to scare her older brother away. Nodding slowly at Summer's question, he kept his head hung. Why was he being such a b*****d? He needed to make it up to Summer, and especially Esmeralda, now. However, that did not mean that he was going to change his ways, it just meant he would keep the dangeous extent of his anger under control. Hopefully, at least ...
I'm not angry at you, Summer. I love you more than anything else in the world and ... Xavier didn't let the kiss stop for a long time, holding her in his arms as they let their passion take over. More than anything else in the world ... Yes, of course you are, he replied to her after the kiss ended. However, his arms remained around Summer in a hug. He hesitated to answer her second question, but he knew there was no way he could go anywhere. So, in a joking tone resulting from the calm after anger, he said, I think I mentioned the prank to you ... you know the smell coming from the cabins? Manure. Tons of it. He gave a light shrug against her grip. I can probably 'rent' another room for now. Its all good. With that said, Xavier kissed his beautiful girlfriend again.

Summer didn't have the chance to laugh at what he told her about the manure all she was able to get out before he kissed her again was, "I lo," then the rest of her sentence was drown out as he kissed her. Instead she kissed him back but didn't deepen this kiss like she had the last one. This kiss she was going to use to tease him until he couldn't stand it so she slowly slipped her tongue into his mouth and wrapped it around his tongue. When she finally broke the kiss she was gasping for air and then came the laughter. She laughed at what he'd told her and said, "So does that mean all of your clothes are smelly and full of manure as well?" She then started laughing again but she then remembered him saying something about 'renting' another cabin and she got a wicked idea. "I may have a solution to your rooming problem but we'd have to be secreative about it." She said to him as her hands went up to his hair where she tangled her fingers into it. "I think you should room with me." She suggested to him then she kissed him again, a quick lite kiss that left her wanting more of him, of his kissing and just being around him.

((OOC: I don't think that's okay, Summer. You naughty girl. XDDD @Infinity: I want Esmeralda to have someone to interact with, and I think it would be wonderfully ironic, considering what just happened, if it was Xavier. So I am going to PM you my idea, and you can tell me if it works for you, okay?))
Roman chuckled as he saw Kahlilia's lips twitch. She looked like she was struggling to hold back a smile. "Go ahead," he said cheerfully. "You can't strain a smile muscle any more than we already have today." Phoenix snorted softly, making him grin himself as he patted the horse. "Yes, it's all because of you. We'll pretend Kelly didn't have anything to do with it to soothe the male ego," he teased the horse, laughing as the stallion shook his head in what appeared to be the horse equivalent of an eye-roll.
When Ariel whickered at him, he laughed softly. Holding Phoenix's lead one-handed, he reached out the other hand towards the little filly, palm up, for her to inspect. He thought it was something like puppies - she might want to get used to his scent before she allowed him to pet and praise. "Hey, baby," he murmured to the filly. Although he wasn't aware of it, his voice softened almost to the tone one would use with either one's child or one's lover.
Glancing up at Kahlilia's words, he smiled. "My only regret is that we're not going to see her grow up," he said softly. "I'd like to see who she'll turn out more like." Examining the little filly, he said, "I think she's going to be big. Like her father, I mean. She's got that sort of awkward look."
~
Esmeralda rode around to the far side of the barn, meaning she didn't see either Kahlilia or Roman. The sick feeling was spreading through her again, and she had to hastily dismount from Sahara. Having to trust that the mare would go nowhere, she let the horse stand in the alley, went around back and was quietly and privately sick. Breathing painfully, she went back in and stroked Sahara's neck softly. The mare hadn't even moved. "You're such a good girl," she murmured as she removed the horse's tack. "Such a good girl."
Leading the mare out the back, she turned her out in the paddock and smiled sadly as the horse rolled around. "I wish things could be that easy for me, too," she said softly, leaning on the paddock fence as she watched the mare.

( OOC // I can't believe I was actually busy enough to have to postpone posting [heh] for the entire day. It surprises me when I get busy.
I got the PM, btw - this is going to be so much fun to play out [: )
Kahlilia finally giggled, a very feminine and semi-quiet noise. Her energy in both happiness and slightly similiar excitement in the progress was beginning to grow, as she could feel it glowing in her features and as of right now maintaining a more tranquil aura. However, that could change as she knew.
Ariel did take a minute or two to sniff and inspect Roman's hand, and after realizing he would be of no harm to her she nudged at his hand that was being held out to her. Obviously, now she wanted to play and probably wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer. She was having a lot of fun, exploring this new world around her and meeting others. Kahlilia wasn't sure if Ariel had seen them when she was born or had opened her eyes first, but she did seem to have put a lot of trust in them already.
Looking at Phoenix and then Kelly, Kahlilia nodded in agreement to Roman's guess about Ariel as an adult mare. I would love to see her grow up too ... but I have a strong feeling Kelly will take good care of her. Smile soft in a maternal way, she added, I wouldn't doubt that she'll be pretty tall. Both of her parents are. Or at least, they were in Lily's view. She wasn't sure about Roman. And shes already playful like both of them too. Done with her little ramblings, Lily giggled again when Ariel nudged against Roman for a second time, asking him for attention.

As Xavier and Summer kissed, both of them became more aroused with one another and seemed to radiate with their love. Xavier was thinking about how he had slept with Summer in the showers and in the barns, but both times combined couldn't ever compare to what he was feeling right now. He had been aware that he had cut off her sentence and knew what she had tried to say to him, so when the kiss ended after a while he grinned and said, I love you too. Chuckling when he heard the girl laugh, Xavier felt himself give a smirk again upon her offer. Still laughing a little jokingly, he replied, I don't think its going to be very secretive with the noise we're going to make. That was quite obviously a suggestive comment, given his sudden mood. After hugging her a little closer, he added, That would be amazing, Summer. It really would. Thanks. It was then Xavier realized that Summer was becoming more seductive as he was, and in truth he liked it. Do you want to go there now?
Please say yes ... please say yes ... For some reason, Xavier felt he owed Summer for having her so worried. She didn't deserve that much weight on her shoulders, and hell yes he would repay her somehow. On that thought, too, Xavier also had to repay Esmeralda - big time. He was smart enough to know that, but it was what he would do that was currently stumping him. Maybe he could ask her later.

((OOC: Sooo excited. Gonna set it up now. biggrin Hurry up and get Xavier and Summer to their cabin!))
Esmeralda left Sahara after a while. She was tired, and wanted nothing more than just to sleep it off. For the hundredth time, she wondered how she was going to tell Roman. She didn't care about telling her parents - they didn't matter. It didn't matter what they thought. But her brother... Would he think less of her? She didn't think she could stand that.
Shaking her head wearily, she went to her room. Stopping, she lifted a brow slightly. Sitting in front of her cabin door was a bunch of letters. It made her smile a bit. Maybe Dev had written her back. She scooped them up as she walked inside, closing the door behind her. Smiling down at them, she began to set them out. She loved letters - they were almost more exciting than presents to her. It was so much fun to anticipate what might be in them. Hmm. Two from her mother - one looked longer than the other. One from Dev. A couple from friends.
She was about to open the first one - Dev's came first, of course, he always did - when another wave of exhaustion came over her. With a sad grin, she muttered, "Well, fine. Later, then." And she settled down in the chair to wait out the tiredness so she could read the letters.
~
Roman glanced at her when she giggled. He couldn't remember having heard her giggle before - it was cute. There was a slight blush in her cheeks that was also pretty cute. He wondered why it was so surprising to him to see her happy. Had it been so long since he'd seen it?
When the filly was finished sniffing his hand, he chuckled and ruffled her tiny mohawk of a mane. "You're cute, baby," he told the filly, "but I think I'm a bit too big to play with you just now. Maybe when you're older." Nonetheless, he rubbed the base of her ears in an affectionate gesture that always made Phoenix lower his head and nuzzle him. The filly seemed to love it, prancing just slightly under his hand.
"Kelly will take care of her, of course," he murmured. "I'd just feel better if we could be there to take care of her, too." It was silly of course - Roman knew that Shannon looked after her horses. But still. Ariel was their baby, in a very real way. And it felt strange to know that in a few months, he and Kahlilia would be leaving her training and care to someone else. "She'll be gorgeous. And smart, like her folks." Bending a bit, he kissed the star on the filly's forehead. "Won't you, baby?"

( OOC // Silly Silent, I have to wait for Wolf to respond. xD
How is the Male Musketeer going to act when he finds out? :9 Excitement is contagious, as is curiousity. )
Lily didn't catch his glance visually, but a feeling came over her in that second. Something fluttered back into her heart without her fully realizing, but she pushed it aside quickly. She didn't feel now was the time for confusing emotions that threatened to eat her alive. But somehow, the feeling was happy and joyful, one she had come close to feeling but never had fully understood. What was it?
Kelly bent her head to graze lightly again and Lily looked over at Roman and Ariel with a soft smile. As it seemed in the current moment, the two females were taking turns. Kelly would take a very brief break to graze or do whatever else, and Kahlilia acted as a mother. It was close to invisible, but it was there. Hopefully, neither would take on the persona of a nervous mother hen. That wasn't something anyone needed.
Listening to Roman quietly and intently, Lily realized that in fact they would have to leave two months from now. They would leave Phoenix, Benvolio, Kelly, and Ariel, back into Shannon's care. Who were they, had they changed since the summer had begun? Phoenix's changed personality was very visible to her, but what about the others? What about little Ariel? Feeling as though she actually was an actual parent to the filly, Lily knew she would have a hard time leaving. Someone would have to pry her away from the horses and back to her little Cooper. She would leave for a college seven hours away in the winter and, for some reason, feel like she lost her baby ... Yeah ... I sort of wish I could stay here. She didn't want to sound selfish, but it was the truth. Her maternal instincts weren't about to cease, and when she did have to leave they would go plummeting down and leave her spirit in a place that she didn't want to think about. How to go about this? Well, Kelly will be a good mother, the girl reminded herself harshly. After all, we'll make sure she gets put into the right hands. Definitely. There was still another two months, and for now, that was enough. When it dwindled down to a one-digit amount of days, she would return to the thought. And once again, have to be pried away from the horses.
Ariel was all but basking in the attention she was being given, loving this moment just as much as the others were. It was clear she still wanted to play, to stretch her little legs, but for now she could obviously settle for affections. She made a quiet whickering noise at Roman's question, probably saying, 'Yep!' Having finished grazing by now, Kelly looked up and inspected the others coolly, still keeping her eye on Phoenix for anything he might do. Lily noticed, and just hoped neither parent would get mad at the other or do anything bad. However, she had confidence in them. Shes really going to be a star when she grows up, Kahlilia said, tempted to say 'no pun intended' when she saw Ariel's nose and saw the white star. However, she simply added, And she'll probably love that, huh?

((OOC: Nuuuuuu! XD I just about choked laughing at 'Male Musketeer'. Also, I...don't really know yet. I will find out about the same time she does!))
Roman glanced away hastily, combing his fingers through Phoenix's long mane. He noted the burrs in it absently - the horse must have picked them up over the course of the ride. Inwardly, however, his thoughts ran a much different course.
Why couldn't he talk to her? She was just a girl. It was harsh, he knew, but all the same it was true. She was just a girl like any other, and he was just a boy like any other. So why couldn't he talk to her? Why was he so nervous? Why did he have to be this way? When they were just being friendly and easy, there was no problem. But when he wanted to talk to her more seriously, about-- about...God, he couldn't even think the word without a mental spasm.
So for what had to be at least the tenth time since he'd met her, he put it out of his mind and concentrated on the horses. "So do I," he said softly, not looking at her. The idea of having Ariel taught and trained by strangers...It felt almost like giving up a child of his own. Leaving Phoenix behind - what would come of the stallion's enormous talent if no one would ride the horse except him? Would anyone ride the horse, now that he'd proven that the animal was safe? Only he didn't like that idea, either. He didn't want strangers riding Phoenix any more than he wanted them training Ariel.
Shannon did fine with her horses before you came here, he reminded himself harshly. She'll do fine by them once you've left. There's no need to worry about it.
He blinked down at Ariel when she nudged him once more. Chuckling wearily, he shifted his hand so that he could scratch the filly under the jaw, another place that Phoenix liked a lot. Absentmindedly, he loosened Phoenix's lead, and the big horse moved off a little ways to graze, still keeping an eye on the others. Roman realized that Phoenix already considered both mother and baby his, which made him absurdly happy. "Yeah, she is," he murmured. "And she'll love the attention - it's what she's made to thrive on. Right, Ari?"
