Vixen is meh. She's a convenience character.
Okay I'm not understanding somethings.
Since when do only two people make the decisions? It wasn't just two people who carried this rp and brought it to where it is today?
Instead of worrying about being fair to the new people we need to worry about what's best for the presevation of the rp.
Do we really want to be that thread who has a bunch of new people with a bunch of new characters who magically disappear after a week or a month? I've seen it happen a million times.
Why can't people who've been here since the earlier times have as many as they want since they've proven they can balance them?
The new people we have with us now should get an allowance of all of their characters and if they can keep up with them and the speed of the rp then cool if not, we ask them to cut some of the fat and keep only whose important?
I'm totally not down with just two people making the decisions. What got us so far was Dark's implementation of a democracy not a dictatorship. We can either all be annoyed and let everyone get their way in some form, or all be a** hurt and no one gets their way.

I thought that the crossover limit counting towards the other RP's max count was an obvious factor. Allowing someone to cross characters on TOP of a max count of 6 per RP, thus resulting in a registered character count upwards of seven or more in one RP, is completely unfair.
If you crossed all 6 characters from one RP from the other, you would hit your max of 6 in both RPs. Conversely, if you didn't cross ANY characters over in each RP, a person would be able to have a total of 12 different characters, half in one RP, half in the other. They also wouldn't be allowed to cross, save to the special case of a full-out dual thread crossover arc. But in all practicality, the likelihood of both of those instances occurring seems rather slim to me......

Lol I'm so glad I'm too lazy to deal in the other rps.
I say excluding the current new ones we implement a low and strict character limit on the new ones.
There's no way for us to know if they're going to last and if they're not.
I'd rather be strict and watch them drop like flies, than be gracious and watch them drop like flies AND compromise the integrity of the plot progression.

Precisely. New people would be able to submit up to 4 character profiles right out of the gate (which in itself is an unheard of occurrence; if that did happen I know I'd be keeping a close eye on them), and if they stick around and show promise, they are rewarded with the option to manage up to 6 characters per RP.
Why is that such a difficult concept? It seems completely fair to me, and creativity is still able to flourish under both those limits.

Oh well sanku yu Eric.
Okay here's my two-cents on the whole she-bang.
If you have a large amount of cannon character that you do NOT use for more than 70% of the story arc, then that character will be up for grabs to someone who WANTS to rp with them 100% of the time. UNTIL that person comes along you can puppet that character as you please, but by no means would you "own" them as much as you "own" your originals or mainstay cannons. For example. I do like Vixen but if someone came along and took her and played with her 100% of their posting time, then Vixen is theirs. Until them I'll puppet her as I see fit.
This should definitely help when cutting down on who has how many characters and also if you do NOT use the cannon more than 70% of the time you are not allow to technically claim them as YOUR character the way I can claim Ivy as mine and Eric can claim Two-Face as his. So that means that these characters are definitely up for grabs, puppetable, but by no means owned by anyone.
If you don't want to give up your cannon that you use smply occasionally then I suggest you find more things for them to do because now you're just holding on to extra that could be someone elses full potential.
This is my understanding of it all.

The only reason I hoarded Canons in to keep the rp from slowing down.

That's how I see it too, Haur. It also falls back on my suggestion of a canon limit of 3-4 for experienced RPers, but no more than 2 for new members. As I mentioned before, it's easier to move around if only 1-3 canons lock up due to someone dropping without notice, but 4-6 locked canons can bring a whole RP to a standstill. A 4th canon would be allowed only if someone has proven to be here for the long run and has been proactive throughout their membership.

I think the new people should start off with a temporary 2 person limit. It's mean it's elitest, but if they're about the same things that we are then they'll be at our same limits/levels in no time.
I had no problem with having to be forced to make my first character a cannon when I tried out for the X-men Rp where I met Dark and that didn't hurt the attendance at all. It helped maintain the integrity of the rp.
I think Slag just wants to cut off the fat and refresh things. Like spring cleaning. Find what you want and don't want.
I don't think the limit should go towards in-depth functional originals since they are what keeps the rp going. It's not just batman and the bat crew. It's not just the cannon villains. We need the PEOPLE of gotham and that's where the originals come in.

Thank you, Haur. I was starting to think I was the only voice of reason in here......
And from a practical view, rarely do we get someone signing up for more than 2 characters when they first join. Usually someone want to be a canon or toss an OC in, and half of the time they disappear within a few months, leaving the character locked in limbo.
