Seeing Damiano finally making his move, Sombra's steps now turned into a charge. It was now Damiano's spell was unleashed and Nathan noticed his companion was in danger. "Umbra transfero!" Nathan casted and Sombra's body melted down into it's own shadow below it and then crawled out from Nathan's own shadow safely behind him. Nathan then jumped onto Sombra's back and he spread his wings and quickly took flight.
"Glacies fulsi!" Nathan chanted and Sombra's growling mouth opened wider and a bright like condensed there until a large amount of ice shot out in small sharp darts down at Damiano.

Damiano watched as the winged lion sunk into nothingness only to reappear by its master's side. Obviously the sage understood the value of keeping his companion away from the heat of combat, which was a good thing seeing as Damiano was expecting a match from someone with more than half a brain. He continued to watch as the sage himself took action and leaped onto his companion's back. As the two took flight and the sage started the casting of his second spell, Damiano listened carefully to the words. He did not know this spell, but he was certain by the familiar words that it would not be able to penetrate his rings of silver fire.
When he saw the magic take effect as many small shards of ice shot toward him, Damiano sighed. "And I thought it would be harder than this," he said as he brought his staff above his head and held it horizontally. Damiano watched as the shards came closer and closer before starting to spin his staff around vigorously. His eyes glowed with lingering magic as he invoked the spell he had formed to shift. "Proteggia me Fuoco nel Aria!" he commanded in a clear, booming voice. He stopped spinning his staff and slammed the end of it onto the ground; the spell took effect immediately after.
The rings of silver flames guarding him started expanding, the fire growing at an alarming rate. As the ice shards closed, the flames intensity increased and formed a globe around Damiano. The flames would cause the ice to melt away harmlessly as was intended. Damiano stood in the same spot, watching as his spell devoured the sage's magic. He couldn't help but smirk as the sight. When the last of the shards finally fizzled into steam, Damiano called out in the tongue of his magic, "Ritorna!" The globe of flame shrunk and returned to its ring formation. Once again there were four rings of silver flame surrounding Damiano protectively.
"Good Sage, I would suggest you not trifle with me any longer. I will not release my companion until there is need and if you continue like this, there will never be one," Damiano stated in flat, yet mocking tones as he brought his attention back to the sage he was dueling. The young sage was likely still sore about yesterday's performance, which could be used as an edge if Damiano could cause him to lose focus. With luck, the young sage was still a young person at heart and would take the mocking and teasing to heart, blinding him in rage or some other fit emotion.

As the ice spears melted away, Nathan mumbled a spell very quietly though it was the same one he had casted before. "Umbra transfero..." As he casted, the water which melted away from his previous attack and fell to the ground was absorbed into small portions of their own shadow and tot hat of not yet melted ice spears.
"You will find it difficult to dodge something which is already beyond your shield!" Nathan asserted down at Damiano who continuously provoked him.
"Glacies Umbra transfero!" Nathan boomed and through Damiano's shadow, icy shards began to form and point upward at Damiano and then without much more time lapse, shot out of the darkness and at Damiano.

Noah realized he was in a tenuous situation. He lay on his back, nearly underneath the griffin, which was much larger and more physically dangerous than he was. He drew his magic in and prepared a series of spells. "Splendens lux lucis." He said casting a brilliant flare of light into being directly underneath the griffins face. As soon as he finished the words of the incantation he began the next. "Aestus ictus." He said, casting the spell from the soles of his feet. A burst of hot air exploded out from the soles of his boots and thrust him, head first, out from underneath the intimidating creature. While Noah was busy extracting himself from his crisis Luz was still occupied with his. He whirled about coming face to face with the scimitar wielding mage again. He decided to be reckless, thinking that his strength behind his sharp claws would cause more damage than the girl with he scimitars. He charged ahead, towards her and swiped directly across with one huge paw, claws extended.

Tura could not shut her eyes in time, but even as her vision of the solid world vanished, her mage-sight remained and she heard the spell and saw the boy move. A talon came out like lightening to catch the boy's foot, with the momentum he had he would likely be sent spinning out of control. Vilya jumped as the lion came at her putting one hand on its shoulders twisting to land between its wings. She brought the flats of her blades up, aiming for a soft spot at the base of the animal's neck. If done right she would be able to stun the beast.

"What?" Damiano stated rather surprised. Had the sage actually tried such a simple counter? It was then that Damiano remembered his dislike of Shadow magic and anything to do with such things. If this sage was going to use nothing but shadows to alter his spell paths, then Damiano would have to teach him not to rely on such techniques. The best way to do this would have to wait for now, however, due to the ice shards approaching dangerously close to his back. He spun around, his staff in both hands, spinning violently again.
"I hate shadow magic..." Damiano muttered as he began to let the magic envelope him. He concentrated on his new spell, a fairly simple defensive spell, which should render the shards harmless; or at least mostly so. His eyes flashed open as he practically shouted, "Armatura dello strego!" In an instant, the magic enveloping seemed to solidify into a semi-transparent field. It encased him fully as though it were armour. He turned to look at the sage and grinned. "Every magus knows how to defend themselves from physical weaponry. The spell shielding me is something a novice can cast, so it should do well to protect me from your magicks" Damiano taunted as he chortled lightly. He was hoping that his taunts would throw the Sage off guard, at least for a moment.

"You're far too arrogant." Nathan stated in a harsh sounding voice which also gave clue to Damiano that he had become very close to him in the time he shielded from the ice shards which fell to the ground. Not only was Sombra in range to slash at Damiano now, but Nathan used the large shadow created by he and his partner's riding combination to overshadow Damiano.
"Umbra tumbus." The shadow which now covered Damiano from Nathan and Sombra burst upward from the ground from all sides like some sort of black liquid, much different from the darkness Kin had been wrapped in. It shot up quickly and swirled around Damiano until it formed a cage shape and started to shrunk down to completely enclose Damiano inside it's dark unknown depths.

Damiano did not know this spell, not did he intend to read into its inner workings. He watched as it surrounded him, his smirk ever present. He couldn't help but laugh as it finally closed him in. This was perhaps the best gift the sage could have given him! Damiano was holding up a strong front, but he was starting to get tired from all the subsequent casting. Now, in this expanse of darkness, he would rest.
Damiano sat down, his worries gone. He didn't care that the expanse was attempting to break him, he didn't need to care. He waved his hand in a vertical, circular pattern and muttered, "Aria" before finally sitting himself with legs crossed, and arms relaxed against his legs. The spell he muttered was another simple one that would grant him fresh air to breath even in this casing. Before he truly began to rest, Damiano urged the magic he controlled to reinforce his mage's armour so that it would not break or so that he would not be crushed. The Sage wanted to catch him so badly, and Damiano wanted the time to rest. Both parties would be satisfied for now.
Ark inquired lazily. The dragon was also tired from the rigors of lending out his power. Damiano thought teasingly to his companion. He could feel more than hear the dragon's laughter. his companion responded.
Together, now, the both of the sank into a light rest. It wouldn't be as calming or fulfilling as a full night's rest, but it would be enough to return to them some strength. With luck, there would be enough to continue casting some of their favourite spells. For now, however, they would think of nothing, feel nothing, and hear nothing. Their trap was a blessing, despite what others might think.

Damiano dismounted Sombra and stood in front of the shadow-covered figure before him which encompassed Damiano. He's too relaxed, he won't know what's coming. Nathan thought.
"Desparatus." Nathan said, in attempt to de-spell Damiano's mage armor and therefore the darkness would continue to crush Damiano. A moment after he casted his spell, Damiano clutched his fist and readied his arm as if he was about to punch through the darkness at Damiano.

Ark said flatly as though this was no surprise to him at all. Damiano was still resting his mind, the dragon could tell, as the mental waves between them were loose. With a sigh, Ark decided it would be best to exert some of his own power in order to safeguard his companion. In his spirit realm, Arkanathalasana began to stretch his wings as though he meant to take flight.
The mage's armour was failing, the dispelling was going to work. The reinforcements Damiano made were for physical pressure, which mad efor minimal adjustments and minor taxation. The Dragon companion, linked to his master, knew the spell would fail and, somehow, understood that it had to. Composing himself, as one does before the storm strikes at their home, Ark stood in his spirit's realm proudly, and full of grace. He urged Damiano again but to no avail, the young mage was enjoying this far too much for someone who was as nervous as he was not an hour before. Ark thought to himself as his draconic eyes began to flare. His silver scale, cold as ice, shook with him as he roared mightily.
From within the shadows, a light began to flare into existence. It was the light of a spirit stone releasing the companion from within. The Shadows rippled within the casing as the light fought to break through it. The reverberating sound of the roar caused most of the physical rippling and a strange, human quality was mixed in with the roar of the beast. Arkanathalasana had finally gotten through to Damiano, who in turn, roared with hsi companion. With this, he stood and began to unleash the energy that held his companion at bay. The mystery would be revealed, and the fighter would truly begin.
Damiano thought back during the intense moment of release. Damiano could only hear the laughter of his companion in the back of his mind. He could feel it, however, in his chest and the dragon began to materialize and take full shape. It would likely break through the shadows, so Damiano was beginning to think of his next move.

Sombra thought to Nathan as he briskly positioned himself behind Damiano and his unknown partner which was about to break through the darkness.
Nathan replied quickly. "Glacies macies." Nathan silent casted and ice began to encompass both of his hands and forearms much like a gauntlet but with many sharp pointed ends where the fists were.
Nathan commanded Sombra and soon after both Sombra and Nathan went for a surprise attack as Damiano was escaping out of his last spell. Nathan's deadly sharp ice fists attempted to strike Damiano as Sombra tried to swipe either Damiano or his newly summoned bound creature through the darkness with his powerful paws.

((I apologize for the extreme lateness of this post. I've been suffering from writers block...))
Noah felt the griffins talon catch on his foot and throw off the angle of his escape. He rolled over as he was blowing out from under the creature and that roll turned into a near out of control tumble as he continued to propel himself away. He finally bounced, rolled, and thudded to a stop over a dozen feet away and heaved himself to his feet. He whirled his staff in front of him and prepared to throw a surge of magical energy into some form of fire spell. He managed to glance to one side long enough to see what a challenge the other combatant was giving his brother. Maybe if he finished up quickly enough he would lend his sibling a hand. His attention shifted back to the task at hand. Sage Noah gathered his magical power and prepared his spell. "Incendia pluvia." He said and held his left hand extended at the griffin. A glowing red heat began to gather in his palm and expanded into a disk a foot in diameter. The drops of fire the size of rain drops began to spew forth from the disk of flame, dozens of them in rapid succession. They leapt forth from his hand and hurled themselves through the open air between himself and the griffin, aiming to burn a multitude of tiny holes into her. Luz twisted as the girl leapt into the air above him. Her blades came at him, flats first, at the space where the back of his neck would have been, and where the front of his neck was now. He lashed out with one massive paw, aiming to impact the blades and knock them aside. With his much greater size and strength he partially hoped that he tear the blades from her grasp entirely.

The exhilaration of the magic surging through him was enough for Damiano's sense's to awaken anew. He was aware of the tearing of the shadows his companion was contributing to and vaguely aware of his own strengths having returned slightly. His mind was a blur of thoughts, none of which were focused on the battle. All he thought of now was freeing his companion and himself, from this drab cage the sage had so rudely placed them in.
He came to one thought as the tearing of magic fibres snapped in his mind. He could assist his comrade with a spell, one that should also ensure a modicum of safety for them both while they re-entered the battlefield. Damiano thought to his comrade as he readied his staff and positioned himself. Ark said offering his council. He wasn't fond of being in a defensive position, let alone one where he couldn't see what he was defending against.
Damiano began to summon up his magic. He closed his eyes and whispered words to fill the air. He held his staff out and stirred their air with it, his momentum building slowly. It was a cacophony of sound inside their deteriorating cage as the air began to build speed with every stir of Damiano's staff. Without any clear escape, the air took to swirling around, searching for escape. "Raffica di Vento!" Damiano shouted, finishing the incantation. His eyes flared open and he raised his staff causing the air within the shadowy prison to burst into a violent gust. Ark took this as his cue to unleash his own might and, with both efforts working simultaneously, the magic surrounding them finally wore off.
The powerful gust of air was now free to escape and spread in a hemispherical manner, centered on Damiano. In this brief moment, Damiano and Ark realized just how lucky they were with the choice of spell, for the strong gust of wind would definitely slow the sage and his companion enough for them to apply a guard against their strike. However effective it would be was another question entirely. Damiano shifted his weight and positioned himself with his staff raised to defend. He was not as adept in physical combat as Vilya proved to be, however he was no novice with a quarterstaff.
Arkanathalasana's silver scales reflected the light brilliantly as the dragon shifted itself into a better defensive stance. Despite his size, he was quick and graceful, and above all his companion was in need of defending. He spread his wings, allowing for them to span their full length, and opened his great maw, roaring defiantly at the winged lion while unleashing an aura of fear he hadn't found need to use for ages. Ark had never faced these winged lion creatures before, but from what he had seen from the match Kin and Sai had participated in, these creatures wouldn't know how to deal with the likes of him.

As Damiano escaped his spell, Nathan lunged forward with his fist full of deadly sharp ice and attempted to punch at Damiano. From the other side, Sombra now stood in front of Damiano's partner. Sombra has not seen this creature before and was a bit taken back by it's appearance though it did not stop him from continuing his charge and swiping his mighty paw at the dragon.
