((Before anyone has a heart attack over the length of this, I just want to say that I'd been toying with this post for a while, and adding on little by little before I realized what it was going to be. Since I hadn't done some "self rp" in a while, I felt it fitting that instead of halfarsing it as I normally would, I'd do my girl some justice and really work on it. xd ))
And thus it was such that Dama was again abandoned by her bond-mate, perhaps for the last time. Sighing softly, she shook her head, flattening her ears against her head, and raising her eyes to the heavens above as if looking for something, some kind of answer to unanswered questions. Yet nothing of the sort appeared to her, enlightening her mind to that which utterly confused her. Turning away from the direction in which Kitwana was headed, away from pride rock, away from everything, Dama slowly began to wander, her eyes lidded yet thoughtful, her white tipped paws dragging through the sandy dirt, white poofed tipped tail trailing through it as well. Always alone, never meant for the company of others... She should be used to this, shouldn't she? It wasn't like Kitwana cared for her, though, in some strange way, Kit was the only one she cared about. Not in any particular way, but they did have a bond. Many a time they had huddled together whilst younger, shivering in fright of their captors. It was these memories, however that she shuddered off, as if trying to rid herself of the evil flashbacks.
Towards the waterhole, just barely within the young lioness's vision, something darted across the plains. Mid-stride the grey pelted femme paused, head up, ears perked forward, tail tip pointing in the direction of the dart. Sapphire blue eyes picked up the target instantly, her sharp mind instantly knew what it was. "Waterbuck..." The young husky voice drawled the very word out. Not even a moment later a change seemed to happen over the lioness. No longer was she the delicate downhearted beauty who's pelt seemed misplaced in the desert, but she was a lithe, stealthy killing machine, ready to stalk her prey. Ears flattened against her skull, eyes slowly lidded to slits, focused sharply upon the large waterbuck ahead of her. Dama lowered herself to the ground, carefully placing each paw as she crept forward. Even at this distance, one wrong move could prove to be the fatal blow to her quick drawn plan. Inch by inch she progressed through the savannah, carefully attune to the wind, and noise around her. Briefly, the lioness's glance darted away from the target, gazing at a scrub tree to gauge the wind's change in direction. A change in course, the silvery gray lioness resumed her stalking, making painstakingly slow advancement towards the right of the buck.
Dangerously close, a bald ibis fluttered up from the ground, the sun shining upon it's dark plumage and staining it brilliant greens, rich purples and stunning blues. Crystal blue eyes widened at this effect, never having seen such a bird before. It wasn't a moment later before the gray lioness glanced back at her target to see if the bird had alerted the buck to her whereabouts, but all seemed well thus far. Even so, Dama paused in her advancement, waiting a moment, then two before venturing to move once more. It wasn't worth the chance of losing this lucious morsel to stupidity. The buck simply raised his great head to glance aloofly at the fluttering bird, before lowering his muzzle back down to the earth, snuffling for the tender shoots of grass that grew closest to the ground. Stomping his feet to rid himself of the constantly biting flies, Dama could feel the gentle tremors of the earth as it shook from impact. The waterbuck was an impressive animal, had to have been weighing considerably more than others of his species, but it was hard to tell. Times had come hard to the buck as well, and the beast wasn't as nourished as he could've been. Ribs noticably stuck out of his sides, but not so bad that he looked like a walking skeleton. His horns didn't have the sheen of a wellfed buck, but their size alone was impressive. Such horns could easily skewer a full grown lioness and toss her aside like a ragdoll. So, with this in mind, why was Dama foolish enough to attempt this feat?
Hunger rules all in the savannah, and the gray lioness' was no exception. It had been a while since she'd feasted, and although Dama had hoped to have Kitwana accompany her on such an outing, so she could show him what she was made of. However, that wouldn't be the case this time, since the adult male had wandered off, again considering her a fool for her foolish thinking. And who was to say he was wrong? Maybe she was foolish, but she had to believe in something at the moment... Shaking her head to rid her mind of such thoughts, Dama settled to the task at hand. She must clear her mind if she was to bring this large creature down. Taking a deep breath, Dama closed her eyes, focusing on letting everything else just slide away. It was only her, and this buck. Nothing else was around, nothing else could stop her from doing what she needed to. When her eyes reopened, they locked on the buck with a confident and determined expression. Once again she strode forward, low to the ground, one ear flattened to the ground, the other perked up forward, listening to both her steps, and the buck for any sign of detection.
Inch by inch, and foot by foot, the silvery-blue lioness crept closer and closer to the waterbuck. Once more, a change in wind caused the young female to change her direction as well, keeping her scent away from him, lest it startle him into a run. If she could just get close enough, she could take him without much of a chase. A few steps closer and she was there, at his left hind flank. Sweat darkened the hide of the waterbuck, droplets visibly rolling down the powerful hind legs. Dama could smell the tension in the air, could feel the apprehension of the creature as he glanced towards the waterhole itself, feeling watched. Just a moment longer - the former slave held her breath, waiting for the massive head to turn away from her once more. Still as a rock, she crouched, biding her time, knowing that if she didn't time it perfectly, her grand kill would disappear in a flurry of dirt and hooves. Patience was a virtue, regardless of how hungry she was. The buck turned his head away, bending his head down towards his right front hoof to snatch a clump of grass, and Dama leaned back on her haunches, readying herself. It was the moment she'd been waiting for, and her increasingly powerful hindquarters sprung her up and forwards with ease. Claws extended, the lioness caught hold of the back of the creature, and powerful shoulders pulled her up to where her rear claws could dig in as well.
The buck, alarmed by this sudden movement and pain in his back, quickly leapt forward, trying to jump out from under his attacker, but her claws were already sunk in. At a dead sprint, the great creature dashed, twisting this way and that, trying to dislodge the unwanted lioness, but still she remained. Dama leaned forward, sinking her teeth into the vulnerable flesh of the waterbuck's neck. Twisting her head this way and that, she dug her teeth deeper and deeper into the neck with each shake, bringing her razor sharp canines closer and closer to the bones and vital spinal cord. Blood speckled both hers and her prey's hide as she shook the lifegiving liquid loose. Her back claws, however slipped, and she began to slide off the buck's back as he darted to the side unexpectedly. Her teeth remained clamped upon the neck however, and as she slid off the large creature, she tore through the neck, breaking it. A squeal sounded from the pained buck, as his neck wrenched the wrong way, his horns coming dangerously close to his side. Dama's right shoulder was pierced as she tumbled to the ground, flesh ripping open of her own as the buck landed atop of her. In a flurry of dust and dirt, all became dangerously still.
A moment, then several passed without movement from either the buck, or the lioness underneath. But it wasn't long before the buck's body began to quiver and move, as Dama slowly inched her way out from under his crushing weight. It took several more moments before she fully managed to pull her self out from under the creature and do her best to stand up. Her right shoulder was a mess, torn from the top of her half-circle shaped marking, almost to her elbow. There was no telling how deep it was, although she still had slight use of the limb, suggesting it wasn't quite as bad as it looked. Favoring the leg, she hobbled around to the head of the fallen creature and bowed her head in respect for that which gave it's life for her. "Thank you, great buck, for your flesh shall nourish those less fortunate than you. You'll be honored as you return to the earth from whence you came." Raising her head, the gray lioness glanced towards Pride Rock, feeling guilty for having taken such a large creature for herself alone, and on another's lands at that. She couldn't take sole possession of such a large meal. It would be a waste, but perhaps, just perhaps, there were others atop the great rock would could find use for it as well. Taking the buck's neck once more in her jaws, blood splattering all over her pelt atop that which had already dried, and it was hard to tell who's blood it was, her own or the creature she now tried to drag. Such a kill would've been quite the effort for a grown lioness who remained uninjured, but for an adolescent with such an injury as hers, it was mission impossible. The mousy lioness only got about three feet before having to drop the carcass and sit down hard on her rump. Her crystal blue eyes glanced around the plains, looking for someone familiar to help, or anyone, for that matter, but it didn't seem that anyone even lived around here at this point.
Craning her neck to get a good look at her shoulder, the young lioness gingerly licked at the torn skin. Easing herself down onto her left side, she continued to lick gently at the gaping wound, doing her best to staunch the seeping blood. She knew, from past experience, if she didn't stop the blood now, it would only keep bleeding and that was never a good thing. As long as she rested her for a few minutes beside her trophy, the blood could stop on it's own and form it's own seal, which would allow her, hopefully, to get to Mufasa before it started up again. Panting hard from the adrenaline and exertion, Dama allowed her head to drop to the sandy dirt beneath her, closing her eyes against the sun. Her stomach growled in argument, but for now it could wait. She just wanted to rest for now, before making the trek back to Pride Rock.
((Edit: Whoa, never thought it was quite that long either....until I really got a look at it posted. xd ))

Uumi wrinkled his brow and a slow snarl curled his lips. "It's not like you aren't hunted for!" He assumed so anyhow, she was just a cub. His fur was fluffed, and his body tense. It did not relax when his twin showed up by his side, it got more tense. There he was again, being protected. If anything it'd just make him worse in this ruffian's eyes.
Speaking of her eyes, they were frightening. His tail lashed out behind him in a childish anger, it seemed his anger was getting the best of him while young. Not only that but soon Kib and Mchele would be showing up, unknown to him. Four on one. Pridelanders coming out the bullies.
His ear flicked a little. He wouldn't always have to depend on Kiuma to save him? would he? His eyes locked on to Syeira's, the crimson clearly betraying his anger. Finally his tense look was forced to smug, showing Sye 'hah, what will you do now? Outnumbered.' what a brat.

Orange ears flicked forward a bit more as Danzi listened, tilting his head slightly. Actually, it was kind of boring doing this, listening to cubs talk and throw insults at each other... He was distracted when a beetle crawled onto his paw, starting up his leg. Blinking, the adolescent tried to blow it off, thinking to himself 'Shoo, get off me, bug!' Of course, the beetle didn't listen, and it kept crawling as he kept trying to blow it off his leg, then tried to shake it off his neck. He cringed, trying to flick it away when it crawled up to his ear. Ack, that tickled! He shook his head, still trying to get the offensive little bug off, finally getting it to go flying. Green eyes watched as the bug rose into the air, then started down... Toward the cubs... And it wasn't even a flying beetle, either... He hoped it would land where they wouldn't notice it.

Inside, a little spark of fear jumped in the depths of her heart, but it died as soon as it had been brought to life. She had done nothing, except pass a few words with the kid, if the pridelanders tried anything - well, that only proved what she had always thought of them.
Slowly, she sat down in front of the pair, lowering herself easily into a sphinx position, tail wavering behind her figure in a very fluid snak-manner, once again creating that image of a serpant. Her bright eyes fluttered up to the female that had now come to the aid of the sickly thing, figuring he could only be related to her, considering they seemed quite a bit alike. "Is your whole family as angry as you two?" Her brow quirked, a wicked smirk settled on the line of her maw.

Green eyes silently peered through the long blades of grass. Her cream colored tail lashed out like a kitten preparing to pounce, which she was. Rehani hadn't listened to a word going on between the others, and could honestly car eless. The goings on weren't of her concern yet. She smiled, white teeth glittering.

Finally settling down, the adolescent rogue let out a silent yawn, tail twitching lightly. It would have been easier to just go around them... He wasn't quite sure what held him there, though. His nose twitched as the scent of a fourth cub, holding the same sort of scent as the two red cubs, drifted to him on the wind. Ears flicking about, he glanced around, wondering where the cub hid and if he'd have to move before he turned into a new plaything.
