Earendil grinned at Miyuki. "Good," he nodded. "Lessons are important. And perhaps tonight you can show me what you've learned?"

He reached over and ruffled her hair lightly.

Now there was a way to get her to learn, Miyuki nodded at this happily.

"Okay!"

Lin chuckled, "That makes things even easier..."

The days passed, and things became routine. Breakfast, lessons, and then in the afternoons playing for the children. Time seemed to fly by, though it was enjoyable for everyone. Miyuki repeated her lessons to Earendil, Amalirahc had his practical lessons in the city, and all the while Shea and Mikhail worked on their plans for the new city.

Amalirahc and Miyuki had lots of fun with the other children, and became more and more influenced by them, until it came to the point where both of them wanted to take a turn bringing lunch for everyone.

Lin was a bit at lost at first at this idea of Miyuki bringing lunch (actually that didn't floor her as much as wanting to make the lunch). Cooking wasn't a skill she practice often, even though taught as a child.

It was probably not her strongest skill actually. So in truth, Lin was relieved to find out that Amalirahc wanted to bring a lunch as well. So while the two were off playing after lessons, Lin was going to ask Leyenda for well... cooking advice.

Leyenda watched as Amalirahc and Miyuki ran off to play again, then turned to Lin. They had been in the leather shop when Lin and Miyuki had found them, and now they would have to find something to occupy their time while they waited for their children to return.

She smiled at Lin. "So. Any ideas for today?"

"Actually I'm need to figure out how to help Miyuki make a lunch..." Lin admitted sheepishly, "It sort of came out of the blue but she wants to bring lunch and help make it and..."

And Lin couldn't even remember when was the last time she had cooked (and helping out didn't count). She had, back when she went to school for that social experiment but for her that had been over six years ago.

Leyenda laughed softly. "Well, Amalirahc has been asking the same thing for a few days. He says that the children all take turns bringing lunch for all of them, apparently he and Miyuki decided that they should take a turn as well."

She rubbed the back of her head awkwardly. "I just wouldn't know what to do. I mean ... we could ask about using the palace kitchen, I guess. What do you think?"

"I think that would work, I just don't know where to start other than that. I haven't actually cooked anything since we before we first sailed..."

She shrugged a bit, admittedly she had been bemused by the request.

"But asking if we could use the palace kitchen would be a good start."

Leyenda smiled. "Maybe we could even make it their lesson for the day," she suggested. "I know Amalirahc would love that, what about Miyuki? Let them make the lunch and then take it to their friends right away?"

They could use a day away from their regular studies after all, they hadn't had a day off since they'd first arrived.

"I think that would be perfect," Lin smiled, "It would be a good change of pace."

She didn't know how she did it when she looked back at on it, but she was always afraid that she would burn Miyuki out trying to make sure she stayed caught up on all her lessons.

"I agree," Leyenda nodded. "And it is still lessons for them both, since it is a life skill that they would be learning."

She tilted her head slightly. "Shall we head back to the palace for the afternoon? Or shall we find something to do here in the city? After all, we can't do anything about the lunch for the kids until tonight when Miyuki and Amalirahc are back."

"Let's find something to do here," Lin replied.

She did enjoy being in the city, getting to know the people here while the children went off to play. There were always people who were willing to chat and things to see.

And so they did. It was getting quite late in the afternoon by the time Amalirahc and Miyuki came to find them again. They appeared just about out of nowhere: suddenly, out of the shadows, Amalirahc pounced on Leyenda's back and shouted, "Got you!"

Leyenda let out a little startled yelp, but she laughed when she realized it was just her son. "Amalirahc!" she giggled, hugging him. "Don't do that to me!"

"Did Ama scare you?" Miyuki asked stepping out of the shadows.

She looked innocently up at Leyenda as if she didn't know he was going to do that (but knowing her she probably did know).

"Yes, he did," Leyenda replied as Amalirahc slid to the ground and hugged her from behind.

"Sorry, Mama," he giggled. "I didn't mean to scare you that much!"

Leyenda put one hand on his shoulder and smiled. "It's okay, sweetheart. It's okay. But now we should get back to the castle, all right? Your father will be waiting for us."
