"This is gunna be my first gym battle Robin, I hope you have a good plan Robin." Ampersand joked as he watched the girl walk into the pokemon center with Luffy at her side. Really though Roark was the beginner gym leader and if Robin wanted to she could just send Luffy in to wipe the floor with all of his pokemon.

Robin put Ace and Slowpokes pokeballs down on the counter and turned to face Ampersand with a serious look on her face. " I am going to challenge Roark fair and square." Glancing down at Luffy the two of them stared at each other for a moment before Robin turned back and took her pokeballs back from Nurse Joy. "It is a sign of respect and I most certainly am not going to disrespect a fellow trainer." This was going to be a battle between trainers and in a battle between trainers one did not take the easy way through.

Ampersand didn't really understand what Robin was talking about, he didn't care much for honor and all that other stuff. Still if Robin wanted to follow it then he wasn't going to make fun of her, even if it did seem rather silly to him.

Robin and Luffy took off towards where Robin remembered where the gym was from her previous wondering around the town. Not bothering to knock, Roark knew that they were coming and it wasn't like it was someones room or something. The two of them headed up to the top of the rocky hill in the middle of the gym. At the top of it there was an arena with various big boulders placed at random places in it.

Just as they reached the top Roark walked out of a room that apparently was his bath room in a rush of steam. The gym leader was toweling his hair dry, the gym leader didn't look like he thought Robin was going to show up a little early seeing that he was only dressed in a pair of clean work pants and the towel around his shoulders. "Your a little early." Roark muttered a little embarrassed at being seen like this. It wasn't often that a cute, somewhat naked girl got to see you half naked before they challenged him to a gym battle. Ok maybe it happened to some people but not to him!

Robin herself couldn't help the flush that appeared on her face. Sure she had thought that Roark was cute when she had met him earlier but now he was all steamy and half naked and clean from the shower. "Oh um, oh sorry." Robin muttered her face flushing and she covered her face a little but not able to stop herself from taking a little extra peek.

Quickly finishing dressing the awkward moment passed as the young gym leader adjusted his glasses. "All right. I am all set so lets get that gym battle going." Roark grinned at Robin as he held out a pokeball.

"I'm all set!" Robin quickly pipped in getting excited now for her second gym battle.

"All right, lets do a one on one pokemon battle, two pokemon each and no items. If you win you win my badge and a bunch of other cool things."

Roark was in gym leader mode now and Robin could feel the confidence coming off of him in a way that she hadn't sensed before. He had to be a really good trainer to be a gym leader at his age. "All right, sounds good to me." Robin got on her part of the battlefield and not really wondering if this was a good idea to send him out or not Robin grabbed Ace's pokeball and released her Chimchar onto the battlefield. The chimp pokemon was as relaxed as always as he stared at the gym leader. The fire pokemon seemed to sense that this battle was more important somehow and a grin spread across his face.

"A Chimchar huh? Most trainers evolve it into a Monferno before they challenge me." Roark didn't say anything else though on the subject as he tossed the pokeball he was holding earlier releasing with a loud roar a very rare and very ancient pokemon.

"Tigrex!" Robin couldn't help but cry out as she beheld the magnificent pokemon that Ace was gunna be facing. She was confident in Ace's abilities but just seeing this spectacle of a pokemon was something on a totally different level.

Sam's mom laughed. "Oh I'm just kidding around Sam! My goodness, dearie me, have a sense of humor!" Kya smiled awkwardly, and shifted her weight.

"Mom...I think you are freaking Kya out."

"Oh am I? Sorry about that! Oh guess what hun?" Sam rolled her eyes.

"Did you find another baby picture of me?" Sam muttered, remembering when her mom had shown the ultrasound to Orion.

"What was that?"

"Nothing, Mom. What's up?"

"Your father and I got some funding for our next expedition!"

"Mom, I've told you, you're spelunking trips are not expedi-" Her mom waved it away.

"Oh I know, I know. But you'll never guess where!"

"If it is at the Ruins of Alph again, or at the Tanoby Ruins...or anywhere else, you've been there, done that!"

"No, that's just it! We're going to the Solaceon Ruins!"

"...The what?" Kya piped up.

"The Solaceon Ruins. They are similar to the Ruins of Alph here in Johto, except that they are in Sinnoh." Sam stared at her mother's image on the screen.

"Mommy, you're going to Sinnoh?"

"Oh Goose, only for a couple of days! Don't worry, you can call us there! Oh, maybe Daddy will even find some new Pokemon there! Oh, your dad wants to say hi, kay?" Her father's image entered the side of the screen, squishing against his wife.

"Hey Goose, I heard the whole conversation. So you are in Ecruteak huh? Gonna check out the Tin Tower?"

"Nah, don't think so. I just want to get to Goldenrod as soon as possible."

"Oh well, some other time. Well, next time you call us, try us in Solaceon! We should be arriving tomarrow!"

"Alright, well bye Daddy! Bye Mommy!"

"Bye sweetie!" her mom cried. The video screen went blank. Sam turned to Kya.

"I've decided that I should never call my parents in the company of other people."

"Aw, Sam, I think they were really sweet. You could do much worse." Sam shook her head.

"I love them, I really do. But sometimes, I wish they had another kid. Then they wouldn't fawn over me so much."

=====================

Zolin slept fitfully. Eztli crouched to the ground, looking a bit like she was about to play leapfrog. Scott stared disbelievingly between the sleeping Cubone and Eztli. "Eztli...I know better then that...What about all that philosophy stuff they teach you in Trainer School? About loving your Pokemon and keeping it healthy and all that other crap? Didn't you just talk about that?"

"Yes...but they also need discipline. Just because I allow Zolin to be hurt, doesn't mean I don't love him. He is going to learn from his mistake, just as I'm sure you have." Eztli watched the Drowzee carefully. She wanted to at least make sure that Zolin woke up, and realized his mistake before she recalled him and sent Xipil out. But at the same time, she didn't want him fainting out there. She really did care for Zolin, she just couldn't tolerate his disobedience. The Drowzee's eyes glowed again as a multi-colored aura surrounded him, rippling and expanding out towards Zolin. The aura enshrouded Zolin, fluidly moving about. It suddenly shrunk and squeezed Zolin tightly. In his sleep, Zolin's dreams were suddenly warped, becoming much like an M.C. Escher drawing. Eztli showed no worry on her face, but inside her gut twisted. She wanted to just take Zolin out of the situation, perhaps just have Xipil kick the Drowzee's butt, but once she was committed to her path, she wasn't going to change it.

"Eztli..."

"Scott, enough. If you don't like my way, leave. Find another trainer to stalk. If you stay, be silent." Eztli stayed where she was, statue-still. 'Zolin...come on...wake up...' she pleaded. Zolin merely twitched. The Drowzee lowered it's head, and it began to glow. Zolin cringed, as if he could anticipate the coming Headbutt. The Drowzee sprinted forward, and rammed it's head into Zolin's soft belly, sending Zolin flying. As he landed, Eztli stood, Zolin's pokeball already in her hand. However, Zolin still slept, and Eztli grimaced as she realized she would not recall him. She kept the pokeball in her hand, at her side.

Scott, for his part, was trying to remain calm and neutrual as Zolin was attacked. He was slowly realizing that just because Eztli was a Pokemon Trainer, it didn't mean she followed the guidelines set by the traditional people. Guidelines were just that, guidelines. He wished he could ask Eztli about it, but talking to Eztli at the moment didn't seem like the safest idea. Eztli didn't know it, but when she was in battle mode, her eyes smoldered like the fire at the kiln, and her body stiffened. She became so intently focused that she came off as cold and horrible.

Upon seeing the pokemon the gym leader released Ampersand let out a long and low whistle. The older man was sitting on a bench that was a little ways away from the battlefield so his aura wouldn't interfere with the battle. How had he gotten his hands on such a rare and powerful pokemon? Ampersand didn't know much about pokemon but he did know that these pokemon were rare and this one was a bit rarer then most.

"Tigrex?" Roark had no idea what that was but apparently it was something to be impressed with if they thought his Aerodactyl was one, the look on the Ambipoms face was especially priceless. "Well, let's get this party started! Aerodactyl lets start this off with your Bite!" The large pokemon nodded and growling slightly the dinosaur pokemon took off across the ground its hind legs and claw hands pulling itself forward with surprising speed.

"Dodge if you can Ace!" Robin called out but there was no chance in hell that her pokemon could dodge an attack at that speed. The Aerodactyls large jaws clamped down around Ace causing the Chimchar to give a loud cry of pain, those jaws really hurt! Not wanting to be in them anymore Ace took as deep of a breath as he could and blasted the Aerodactyl in the face. The attack didn't do much but Ace got lucky and the grip loosened and the sprightly Chimchar got out of it as fast as he could. The poor fire starter was panting as he stared with determined eyes at the ancient pokemon.

"I hope you have a good strategy because Aerodactyl and I are not going to let up. Let's go Aerodactyl show them your Wing Attack!"

The large pokemon didn't even acknowledge that he had heard Roarks order and just charged forward his large claws eating up the ground as its wings started to glow with power. Ace was ready this time though and as the large pokemon made a swipe at him with the glowing wing he jumped back out of the way landing on one of the many rocks scattered about the arena. After feeling the sheer power of that bite attack Ace wanted nothing to do with that pokemon anymore! There was no way he would be taking this battle into close quarter combat!

Robin herself wasn't quite sure what to do with this. Ace really didn't have any attacks that could hurt this monster of a pokemon. Though he did seem to be able to dodge it, sorta, if he was ready for it. There was no way they could dodge it forever though and man alive was this Tig-Aerodactyl going to let up! It was so strong! Still she wasn't going to give up and neither was Ace. If the two of them won this battle or not it was still really good experience for them.

'I knew she was tough,' Riza thought as she watched the Fearow fly back up again, seemingly ready for another strike. Devon's Sandshrew was looking considerably weaker after Plua's last attack but it, like Devon, didn't seem like it wanted to give up just yet. "Hang in there Sandshrew!" he called, watching the Fearow as she flew up into the air. "Let's try your Swift attack, since it's so high up!" The Sandshrew gave a little nod and jumped up, tucking its body into a ball before starting to spin. A dozen or so shiny golden stars were sent spiraling up towards the Fearow, and due to their homing capabilities, were unavoidable.

Plua squawked loudly as the stars crashed into her one after the other, a few feathers drifting down as a result. Riza wasn't too worried though, as the look on Plua's face was more than enough to show that it would take more than a few little stars to take her out. "Bring it down with a Fly attack!" The Fearow glared down at her new trainer, but followed through with the order, knowing it was probably the best thing to do. The Beak Pokemon narrowed her eyes as she dove down for the attack, once again slashing into the Sandshrew with her sharp claws and beak.

Katie quickly discovered that trying to chase down a Buneary on foot was a very difficult task, as there was no possible way for her to keep up with it in this forest. She'd released Kord and Miles to chase down the little thief, as they were her two fastest Pokemon, and she'd released Noa as well to help keep an eye on them. In no time at all however, all four Pokemon were completely out of sight and Katie dropped down to her knees, not even caring that she was getting them dirty, again and she sighed heavily. "I can't believe I was robbed by a stupid Buneary," she grumbled, staring at the mossy ground in dismay. "And now I have no idea where my other Pokemon are, either." She sighed again and looked around as she was suddenly aware of another presence nearby. "Who's there?" she asked, her tone a mixture of curiosity and fear, but there was no answer.

Katie bit her lower lip and stood up again. She heard a familiar cry and looked over to see a familiar, tawny coloured Staravia land beside her. "Oh, Noa! Where is everyone else?" she asked. Noa chirped and pointed her wing in the direction of the path. "Well, let's go then," she said, slinging her bag up over her shoulder. "Lead the way, Noa!" The Staravia nodded and flapped her wings, lifting off from the ground and flying ahead of Katie, but being sure to keep the girl in their sights. After a while Katie was sure they were well more than half way through the forest, and she figured that long as she got her Pokedex back from the thieving Buneary then this wasn't such a bad little adventure after all.

Fantina laughed loudly once again, and by now passengers had started filing off the ship, some hurrying more than others in a possible attempt to get away from Mismagius, who seemed to enjoy the terror she was instilling in the people. The purple clad gym leader stepped down off the ramp as well, doing a twirl as she looked around. "Ahh, bonjour, Vermilion City! Je l'aime ici!" She continued to laugh and twirl as she walked along, temporarily forgetting that Ryka was following her until she realized she had no idea where she was going. "Excusez-moi, cher, but I have no idea where any'ting iz in zis place. You will have to act as my tour-guide, s'il vous plaît? Zat way, we will be sure to find a wonderful place to teach you all about contests!" Mismagius floated alongside her trainer, laughing and mimicking her every action. She couldn't wait to show Ryka what contests were about as well.

How much time had past, Crenu couldn't say. The fire had long since died out, the bits of wood and grass he'd picked up having been burned down to ash in the intense flames. "......" His mind was clear now, his thoughts sorted and filed in their proper place. It was now that he was coming to his senses and questioning his decision to 'fix' his arm. Perhaps he had done more bad than good, his arm was now stinging like hell and burned, as was his palm. But the bleeding stopped now that there was no open wound so it wasn't all bad. It's possible that the burn wouldn't heal either, assuming his hunch was right....but no he couldn't be right. No. Either way, he'd rather deal with a long lasting burn than a constantly bleeding cut. Unfortunately Crenu had no ointment to soothe the pain, so he just gritted his teeth as he used some fresh bandages to wrap up his arm a well as hi palm. With one more bandaged up body part than before he hoped Riza wouldn't notice, and he could play it off as a simple cut if she did. The bandages pressing against his skin hurt like hell, especially every time he moved, but Crenu ignored it as he gathered up his things. Not really feeling the need to rebuild the bike he simply put the pieces in his bag and got up to leave, picking up his coat and sighing as he saw that it was to damaged to be used anymore. "...so much for hiding them with this thing..." Tossing aside the useless coat he made his way back to the road in just his dark grey tank top, the summer heat made a coat troublesome anyway. For now he would continue on to Saffron where he would resupply and wait for Riza, maybe get some training done as well. It didn't take more than a few minutes for the wincing and signs of pain and discomfort to vanish from Crenu' face as it returned to it's normal stoic composure.

He figured this would be easy, having such a type advantage. Yet when that Counter landed and threw Cable for a complete loop, Kilik suddenly realized that he would have to play it safe and be smart about his attacks. Knowing now that he's got Counter, he thought, crossing his arms, I'm not going to be able to land any physical moves. "Cable, use your Shock Wave!" he called out. Shock Wave? No way! That move was way too weak to handle an opponent like Lucario. He extended his arms, that Counter hit so much harder than he had anticipated and he could feel his health suddenly drained. He truly needed to do something much more powerful if he had any hope of coming back from that and spread his fingers, sparks of electricity briding his fingertips. "Eeeeleee..." he growled, the bolts now merging to form a large electric sphere, growing bigger by the moment. "Eeeeleee....!!" Sparks were flying all around Cable, small rifts in the ground forming from where lightning would strike down and whip about. Chimchar jumped out of the way suddenly, barely avoiding a stray bolt that easily would've knocked him out. The power behind whatever was coming was incredible! Treecko put her hand up to her mouth and bit on her thumb. She'd never seen Cable do anything like this before, and it was somewhat scary!

Kilik was on the same boat as Treecko. He'd never seen an attack like this before, and he realized it must've been some kind of move he had learned, deep down in the confines of his mind. That's not Shock Wave, but whatever it is, I like it! Finally fully charged and ready to go, Cable smirked, holding a large ball of pure lightning in his hands. "BUUUUUUUUUUZZ!!" he cried out, throwing his hands out to his sides. The sphere flew straight at Lucario, exploding into thousands of thunderbolts halfway to it's target. A very powerful Discharge had just been unleashed!

"You see," he began, caressing her arm, "I am new here. I'm headed towards the PokeThlon and I wanted to know if a beautiful lady like yourself could accompany me. However if you're too busy..." he slowly let her go and looked dramatically off to the distance, wind blowing his hair softly. "Then I'd...understand."

"Oh!" She giggled, "This is just my mid morning jog! The PokeThlon Dome isn't out of the way on my route," she took his hands back in hers and looked at him, "I will!"

"Oh," he nearly broke down, "You are too kind, madam! Too kind! My name is Mazarin Stank..." he paused. He didn't exactly have the best or most attractive last name of all time.

"What?"

"Mazarin Steinman. A pleasure," he kissed her knuckles and looked up in time to see her blush.

A hint of a smile seemed to appear on Mateo's face as he heard Nina issue her command - he'd fully expected for the younger sister of the infamous Sabrina to have taught her Pokemon to use Psychic attacks, and though most trainers specializing in the fighting type wouldn't stand a chance against them, he hoped that he and Medicham would, what with all the training they'd been doing. "Thunderpunch," the young blackbelt said calmly.

Medicham watched with determined eyes as her Shadow Ball was bounced back at her, already swinging her fist around, which was sparkling with electrical energy. She thrust the punch forward, smashing her fist directly into the Shadow Ball and causing it to break apart, though it wasn't without consequence. The ghostly energy hit her and she shivered, but she wasn't about to give up so easily. Her powerful legs carried her momentum forward, and she let out a sharp "Chaaam!" as she neared her target, fully intent on slamming the electrified punch into the Misdreavus.

Miharu doted on Aska a little while longer before recalling the fully-grown Pidgeot, deciding that she didn't need a visit to the Pokemon Center. The flight from Olivine hadn't been a long one, and she figured that flying was as natural for her as swimming was for a water Pokemon. The small girl checked the map on her PokeNav, finding that the PokeMart was relatively close to the lighthouse, so she began to make her way in that direction. It didn't take her very long to arrive, though once inside she discovered that this shop didn't have much for sale; even their medicine section seemed a bit lacking. Nearby, however, there was a clothing store for ladies and Miharu decided to check it out, having noticed the tears in the knees of her jeans had gotten so worse they were nearly coming off. The small girl had never been very good at shopping for clothes, and before long she was wandering through the aisles, her green eyes wide with a mixture of fear and uncertainty.

She'd been just about ready to give up and leave when she was approached by a girl several years older than she was. She had long, strawberry blonde hair and she wore a vest and name tag to show that she worked at this store, and though she practically towered over Miharu, she was smiling. "Hello there, can I help you with anything?" she asked, her hands behind her back.

"Well, actually, yes," Miharu admitted sheepishly, gesturing to her jeans and tank top, which was also starting to look pretty sorry. "As you can see, I am in dire need of new clothes."

"Mmm, yes, I can see that," Mimi (as was the name shown on her tag) replied, looking at the girl's outfit with a serious expression. She seemed to get lost in thought for a moment before snapping her fingers. "I have just the thing, come with me!" she exclaimed, grabbing the smaller hair and pulling her off in what to Miharu was a random direction. "You'll feel like a new person when I'm finished with you!"
PostPosted: Tue Jun 08, 2010 7:44 am

About an hour later, Miharu stood in front of a full-length mirror, staring at herself in awe. First of all, when she entered this clothing shop, she'd only intended to replace her jeans and possibly her top, but now as she gazed awestruck by her own appearance, she could hardly recognize herself. Mimi had apparently decided that the rough tomboy look Miharu so desperately seemed to cling to needed to go, and instead of jeans or pants in general, she'd paraded the younger girl through the dresses section, forcing her into dress after dress until she was satisfied with what she'd deemed 'highly fashionable'. According to Mimi, the very dress she'd fitted Miharu was also the favored fashion of Jasmine, leader of the Olivine City Gym, though Miharu's dress was quite obviously a smaller size, and had a slightly different colour scheme in order to match the lovely hibiscus flower pin Miharu wore in her hair. Mimi had also selected a matching choker and strappy sandals to complete the look.

Finally regaining her composure, Miharu shelled out the cash for her new look and stepped outside, still feeling very strange. Since she always wore long pants, her legs were incredibly pale if not nearly white, which was in stark contrast to her upper body, which had acquired quite a tan thanks to all the time she spent outdoors and training, but it wasn't as though anyone cold tell for Mimi had also picked out a light, white sweater for her to wear over her shoulders if she felt too self-conscious. Mimi had also assured her that with more exposure to the sun her colouring would even out, but Miharu wasn't so sure.

It wasn't long after leaving the clothing store that Miharu decided that if she was going to do some serious shopping for her Pokemon, then she had to go to Goldenrod City. She'd be able to find just about anything in their massive department store, and before long she'd released Aska, and once again in need of the bird's service, though at first the Pidgeot had stared at her trainer as though she'd sprouted a tail and a second head the duo was soon soaring through the skies once again, their destination Goldenrod City.

This is the only way to travel, Miharu thought as the scenery whipped by below them, and though Miharu had traveled this way on foot or on her bike several times before, it seemed very alien from above. It wasn't long before the Radio Tower was within their sights, which meant they'd be landing soon. Her initial unease with flying was already a distant memory and she could feel the disappointment welling up as the Pidgeot touched down outside of the Pokemon Center (a fact which made Miharu wonder if the red-roofed buildings were just easy landmarks for Flying Pokemon to spot). She thanked Aska for the ride and recalled her into her Poke Ball for some well-deserved rest, already looking across the street to where the Department Store stood.

As she crossed, she couldn't help but notice that she was being watched by a trio of boys as they had come out of the center. She could hear them whispering among themselves and she turned on a heel and cast a sharp glare at them once she'd made it safely across the street, unaware of the fact that she now looked like a girl, and thus was attracting the attention of the various teenage males in the vicinity. What are they staring at? she thought, nearly tripping over some kid's Raticate as they had been walking by, and she uttered a quick apology before ducking into the department store, not wanting to make any more of a spectacle of herself. She quickly checked the floor directory before stepping onto the elevator, only able to relax once the doors had closed behind her.

"What was I thinking, allowing that Mimi to talk me into this," she grumbled, tugging at the ruffles at the hem of the dress, and she sighed and smoothed out the wrinkles as the elevator made a soft dinging sound, signaling that she'd arrived at the desired floor. She took a deep breath as she stepped off the elevator and looked around, relieved to see that for the most part, the floor was fairly vacant. I guess it's not a busy time of day, she thought thankfully, relaxing a little as she grabbed a shopping basket and began to browse around, even though she already had a good idea of what she wanted to buy.

As Ace rested on top of the rock he got an idea, there was no way any of his attacks were going to do much if any damage to the Aerodactyl. Still he could use his environment against this ancient beast. Jumping up Ace pulled a face at the Aerodactyl using his Taunt ability, and finishing it off with a confident smirk. He needed this pokemon mad at him ready to charge without a thought if this was gunna work. It seemed like it was working to as the ancient pokemons eyes glowed red and it let out a snort of steam.

"Well then if you want a full on attack then we will bring it to you. Aerodactyl lets show them your Thunder Fang!" Roark didn't seem at all fazed by the fact that his pokemon couldn't use any thing but attack moves, then again Aerodactyl didn't have that many non-attack moves. The large pokemon let out a loud and intimidating roar as its fangs started to charge with electricity.

On his rock Ace could only hope that this was going to work, this was really his only chance to win against such a monster. Still something could be said when Ace stared down the large pokemon as it charged forward its large claws tearing up the ground as it dashed a straight line to Ace. The agile Chimchar prepared himself jumping down so he was standing in front of the rock instead of on it. The Aerodactyl was so fast considering its size, Ace couldn't even dodge all the way but he was only clipped by the strong pokemon.Ace was sent flying to the side while the Aerodactyl crashed headfirst into the rock Ace had been standing in front of.

Robin had no idea what Ace had been doing but she figured that she would let him do whatever plan he was planning. The redhead watched the exchange between the two and by the time she figured out what Ace was doing the Aerodactyl was all ready smashing into the rock. "Oh! Your so smart Ace!" Robin cheered as she beamed with pride at her smart friends actions.

On the other side of the arena though Roark didn't look to worried, in fact there was a small grin on his face. "Sorry to take the wind out of your sails but you might want to check out the battlefield."

"Eh?" Robin blinked a few times as she turned her attention to the Aerodactyl. The large pokemon should be really hurting if it had just smashed into the rock like that. That wasn't really what happened though as the ancient pokemon didn't even look fazed. "What the?" Robin frowned as she looked closer at the Aerodactyl. "It isn't even hurt!" Robin exclaimed after a moment.

"Aerodactyls special ability is Rock Head. Hitting his head on rocks isn't really going to do much damage to him, your going to have to think of a new strategy." Roark really was an ace trainer to even take these things into account. There was no doubting it Roark was a gym leader and deserved every bit of that title.

~~~~~~
Dante and Hera had watched as all the others left them in the middle of the city and couldn't really bring himself to care all that much. They were all busy and he really had things to do himself as well. Shifting the egg in his grip Dante figured it was time to head out, there really wasn't much in this city for him, though he could challenge the gym leader if he wanted. Maybe he would do that later when he thought he and his team were more in sync with each other. "Lets go visit the lakes." Dante mentioned offhandedly to Hera as the two started to head off. He was supposed to meet up with these legendary pokemon like had with the other ones. That and the fact that they would probably bug him until he did just that.
The walk through Canalave was calm seeing that a lot of people who had traveled over on the boat were now leaving to disperse over Sinnoh. Hera and Dante didn't have any problems such as trainers itching for a battle as they walked through the city's check point. Once they stepped outside though they quickly discovered where all the other trainers went. There was a huge line for people who couldn't surf across the small bit of water. It was a good thing that Dante had a pokemon that could cross the water. Adjusting the egg reached into his bag to fish for Shiva's pokeball before he remembered that she was with Keegan now. Frowning somewhat he wondered what he was going to do exactly about this, he didn't really want to wait in line but he didn't have a water pokemon anymore.
"Ooh! When did you get that one?" Sasha asked, putting a finger to her pursed lips.
"Sure?" said Ben with a shrug in reply to Keegan's request. He wasn't sure that manners had any part of a competitive Pokemon fight, but at the same time, what could one little attack do? He wasn't too worried about it; she didn't seem too tough.
"Merci, Keegan!" Sasha said with a wink. "Vous êtes un gentleman." She turned back to her Pokemon. Prickles stood motionless in the sun-baked battlefield. "Mettez-vous dans le sol, Prickles! Racines!" The Cacturne suddenly opened its eyes. It lifted up one leg and smashed its foot onto the ground. The spikes on the bottom of its foot dug into the stone and dirt. He did the same with the other leg. Soon, the Cacturne was firmly rooted to the ground, and began feeling small traces of water and nutrients work their way up from the earth. Prickles held out his arms and smiled tauntingly.
She crossed her arms and smiled. "Qu'ils viennent à nous."
Ben paid little attention to the girl and her cactus. Steel types had a strong resistance to both Grass and Dark Pokemon so it was low on his priority list. The Kangaskhan however, was a bit more intimidating. "Sarah, use Vicegrip!" The Deceiver rushed forward on its little legs towards the much larger Pokemon. The mouth hanging from the back of its head bounced like a ponytail in the afternoon breeze as it ran. When it got closer, however, that ponytail opened wide, and the Mawile whipped around and let its toothy appendage chompy down on Keegan's Kangaskhan.
Keegan glanced over at Sasha as she inquired about Moeder, and he shrugged, pretending he hadn't heard the gentleman comment. "From a friend," was all he answered before glancing over at the Kangaskhan. She flexed her arms and bared her teeth, eager for a fight. Both she and her trainer then looked over at their opponents. The kid with the Mawile didn't seem too concerned with Sasha and Prickles, and once the Cacturne had finished its move, he didn't hesitate to set it on the attack.
Keegan grinned, and cracked his knuckles. Moeder braced herself as the strange little critter latched onto her thigh. Keegan had seen a few Mawile before, and if he remembered correctly, it was of the steel type, and he knew just what to smack it with. "Moeder, Brick Break," he said sharply. The Parent Pokemon certainly didn't look very motherly as she reached down with one arm and grabbed for the stem that connected the Mawile's jaws to the back of its head. With the other, she swung her fist downward, arching it up at the last moment for a strong uppercut.
Jacob, meanwhile, had been dividing his attention equally between the two opposing Pokemon, not sure which was the bigger threat until he saw the Kangaskhan's manhandling of his friend's Pokemon. He frowned, not really sure what to do as of yet, so he decided to play it safe, for now. "Iron Defense," he called out, and the Lairon, which seemed about as indecisive as his master, pawed the ground a bit as his armor-clad body began to shimmer with a steely glow to show that his defenses had just been strengthened.
It didn't take very long for Miharu to find the three items she was looking for, though she quickly discovered that they would end up costing her more cash than she had on hand. She sat down on a conveniently located bench and sighed, sifting through the three discs sadly. She'd be able to afford two of them no matter which of the three she left out, but the problem was she couldn't decide which one not to get. She sighed and opened her bag, digging through it to see if there happened to be any spare change floating around in there, or maybe even something she could sell. That was when she got the idea to look through her TM case as well, and sure enough she came upon the last two TMs she'd won - Focus Punch and Attract - and she knew right away that if she sold them, she'd have more than enough money to buy all three.
She didn't even really have to think about it as she gathered up her things and headed for the front counter, placing the three discs she wished to purchase in front of her. The clerk, an older gentleman with snow white hair eyed her carefully as he tallied up the amount she owed him. "You're awfully young to be out shopping by yourself, aren't you?" he asked.
"I'm fifteen," Miharu replied quickly, holding up the Focus Punch and Attract TMs. "I'd also like to sell these."
"Hmm, alrighty, then," the man said, taking the two discs and studying them for a moment before he began punching in numbers. Miharu took her money out of her bag and handed him exact change, watching with a bored expression as he counted it out slowly. When he was satisfied that she wasn't trying to swindle him, he handed over her purchases. "That's it then," he said, nodding at her. "Thank you, have a good day."
"You too," the girl answered, though in actuality she didn't care what kind of a day he had. Being told she looked young or small was possibly the one thing she hated most, and no matter where she went, everyone seemed to taunt her about it. The girl continued to curse and mutter to herself as she took the elevator back down to the main lobby and headed outside, her new destination the National Park.
"Beacon!" Mike called out, following the trail of drool droplets on the ground. Thankfully, the laboratory wasn't totally demolished. A few tables and beakers were on the ground, but all the extremely expensive looking computers were still online. Mike could hear some honking in the near distance. "Well, he's close." he said under his breath. "Portabello and Napalm, go look after Camerae. I've got this situation handled."
Of course, Master. Both Breloom and Magmar quickly exited the lab.
"Oh Beacon!" he called out again.
"Hank!" The Ampharos sounded closer. Mike tried again.
"Beacon!"
"Henk?" He sounded confused at the noise that came out of his mouth. Mike wasn't.
"Beacon!"
"HONK." Beacon popped out from behind a cabinet and fell flat on his face. There wasn't anything to trip him, it just happened. The Pokemon blinked a few times, then began licking the floor like it was some sort of frozen treat. Beacon honked in delight, and continued to voraciously lap the tile floor, making sure to catch every bit of dust and debris on his tongue. Mike wouldn't be surprised if his Pokemon's warped brain actually convinced itself the floor was chocolate. After that was over, Mike walked over and grabbed his Pokemon by the hand. Beacon instantly stood up and rested his head on Mike's leg; his honking coming to an abrupt stop. Mike sighed.
"At least I know one way to make you behave." He said with a smile as his Pokemon stood at his side. Beacon was at times completely unresponsive, but he absolutely loved attention. All he needed was for Mike to hold his hand and he'd be all set. Wait a second. "Beacon are you like, alright? Does this Burn you at all?"
The Ampharos looked up, an astonishingly blank look on its face.
"Uh...yeah." Mike had to shake himself free from the Ampharos's hypnotically retarding stare. "Let's get you out to the Gym where you can play with Portabello and the others." Mike hurried his way outside and detached himself from his Pokemon. Beacon was about to start complaining again, but thinking fast, Mike handed the Pokemon an oddly shaped rock he noticed as he was walking in to take a shower. Beacon, without a second thought in his head (because there is simply no room for more than one), placed the rock in his mouth and began sucking on it. Mike sat down, free for the moment, and watched his Magmar and Omaynte play while Portabello sat on the side of the volcano and meditated.
"Parfait." Sasha smiled as the only other threat decided to be defensive. Keegan had the Mawile taken care of, and Prickles hadn't taken any hits yet, so it was time to punish them for picking the wrong target. "J'espère que vous apprécierez ce! Donnez-leur quelques pointes!" Prickles threw his arms forward and fired a volley of spikes in an arc towards the opposing side of the arena. The green spines landed sharp side up, covering a great deal of the field. "Keep eet up, Keegan!" Sasha said as she focused on the Lairon across the field. While her partner's Kangaskhan had the Mawile, she was pretty sure the metal dinosaur was going to try its hand at a salad luncheon next turn. "Get ready, Prickles!"
"Sarah!" Ben cried as he saw his Mawile take a heavy hit. Steel types were known for their tough defenses, but even the metal coated Pokemon looked like it couldn't take too many more of them. "Crunch Attack!" Reeling from its wound, Sarah stumbled a bit before turning around and opening its giant maw on its back. The teeth emanated a sinister black glow, and they once again clamped onto the Kangaskhan's leg.
Ryka was so intent on watching Fantina that she didn't realize that the boat had stopped at its destination. She quickly gathered all of her possessions and tried her best to follow. Of course, her purpleness definitely stuck out from the crowd, but there was a surprising number of people getting off of the boat! After a bit of weaving through the crowd, and many apologies, Ryka found herself outside of the port, in Vermillion City. She had little time to relish the moment, however, as she had to keep up with Fantina. She quickly glanced to the right to look at the Vermillion Gym. I think we can save you for another day.
Ryka had been walking alongside Fantina for about 10 minutes when Fantina admitted that she was lost. "It is fine!" Ryka exclaimed, "I am quite familiar with Kanto. I would be honored to be your tour guide, Mis- err, Fantina." Ryka took a quick look around, then looked down in thought for a moment. "Why don't we just head to Cerulean now? That way, you can be prepared for the contest, and maybe even show me something on a real stage?" Ryka suggested, pointing in the direction of Cerulean.
Please don't tell me he's gonna do this every time, Kasiya thought, rolling her eyes as she watched the Piplup sulking. He's got such an attitude! He's like a strange mixture of Keegan and Shocker's personalities. combined. She chuckled to herself, wondering if trying to play at his ego would be enough to spur him into action. "Hey Al, are you just gonna let her make a fool out of you like that?" she called, grinning as the Piplup's head snapped up, and his little eyes narrowed in annoyance. With a grunt he raised his little flipper high in the air and charged towards Nova. He's using Pound, Kasiya thought with a chuckle, looking over towards the Charmeleon to see how she'd respond.
Nova would have raised an eyebrow if she had one, but the look on her face was enough to convey her thoughts. She growled as the Piplup neared her, rearing back in preparation to blast the tiny penguin with as much flames as she could muster, but one strict look from Kasiya and she was forced to swallow the fireball that had started to form in her mouth. This momentary distraction allowed for Alphonse to jump up and slam his Pound attack right into her belly, and the Charmeleon staggered back from the impact, clutching her stomach. That had actually hurt! She continued to growl as she took a step back, her gaze staying fixed on the Piplup. She wasn't going to take her eyes off him a second time.
"Nice going, Al," Kasiya said from the sidelines. "Try another one!" The Piplup nodded in eager agreement and ran towards the Charmeleon a second time, looking quite confident. Nova wasn't going to be taken in so easily this time, however, and took a tentative step back, wearing an impish and very toothy grin. The Charmeleon held her position until the last possible moment, and the second Alphonse was close enough she pivoted quickly on one foot, sending her flaming tail lashing out like a whip. It had the desired effect of sweeping the Piplup's feet out from under him and he was sent face-first into the ground. Okay, that's totally something Nitro would have done, Kasiya thought, stifling a giggle. Alphonse was slow to get up, though this time it was more from the exertion than anything else. "That's enough for now," Kasiya mused, recalling the tired Piplup. Nova trotted over to her side and Kasiya patted her on the head. "You get a little bit more amazing every time you come out of that Pokeball," she told the lizard, who replied by giving her trainer's leg a one-armed hug.
Though he respected Erika as a trainer, Jaeshan couldn't help but feel a bit better knowing that he'd finally managed to get to her. This Exeggutor's going down, he thought, even as it rushed towards Shelgon. He'd never heard of the move Wood Hammer before, but he figured it was a Grass-type attack and that Shelgon would probably resist it. "Fight back with Dragonbreath!" he shouted, hoping this would be the attack to bring it down.
The shell-clad Dragon growled as the Exeggutor slammed into her, probably damaging itself more than her. Shelgon inhaled deeply and opened her mouth, sending a wave of scorching, indigo-coloured flames over the Coconut Pokemon's already charred body.
Erika was already holding Exeggutor's Pokeball in her hand, ready to recall it back, and she did, frowning a little as the Coconut Pokemon fell to the ground, totally unable to continue. The gym leader closed her eyes and sighed. She was down to her last Pokemon, but that didn't mean she was out of it yet. She held up the sphere in her hand and smiled at it. "Don't let me down," she whispered, tossing the ball onto the field. "Vileplume, Sludge Bomb!"
The Flower Pokemon appeared on the battlefield, ready for action. She took a few steps forward, her giant petals shaking with her every movement, and she lowered her head. A moment or so later a large, highly toxic glob of purple sludge was launched forth like a cannon ball at Shelgon. No holding back, Erika told herself.
