I know what the poll says, but I remember reading somewhere, as well as many search results that also state this, Sakurai personally believes that Geno is a First or Second party character.

Case in point... The original Smash Brothers, a poll was held for Jigglypuff's spot. at least 3 other pokemon beat Jigglypuff for desired appearance. Poliwhirl, Nidoking, and Mewtwo. (who appears in Melee later, but this is the first Smash Brother's we're talking about). Instead, Jigglypuff is sent in.

My thoughts too, Yamato. I'm 99.99 percent sure he's not making an appearance, unless they have downloadable characters somehow.
Sauvie: He was in for a while, but kept a secret. It's confirmed that at the moment, Megaman is not in Brawl.
