Sorry for the double post....But, anyone have any suggests on where I can put Elle? sweatdrop

Jishin
I think you should maybe check with Azura to make sure this is okay, if you haven't? I know there are some RP rules about not having conflicting histories. I swear, I'm not trying to be a jerk about this, I just want to be sure it's all okay. Fractured dimension stuff is a lot like AU stuff and we've got explicit rules about only allowing one version of a particular reality.

He consulted me via PM first, actually, and I suggested he bring the discussion to you guys since you're more knowledgeable of Xillia/2's plot than I am, having actually played the games. As long as you guys have ironed out the kinks and come to an agreement, everything's fine by me.

The least I have done is read up on the endings now, and if I could offer my two cents?

Even though Elle originated from a fractured dimension and she technically should have disappeared when Origin destroyed all the fractured dimensions, I think it's simply that, in the True Ending, Ludger's sacrifice somehow protected her from not-existing? It sounds like in the Normal Ending, Elle disappeared because Ludger didn't end up sacrificing himself.

To the point, it looks to me like the Normal Ending doesn't count as a fractured dimension (is that what you guys were getting at?), it's simply a parallel timeline that branched out from the point Origin did his thing because certain circumstances were met.

EDIT: Forgot to add that what I'm getting at is that's how I think Normal Ending Ludger and True Ending Elle can coexist...in this RP, at least. rofl

In the True ending, Ludger's sacrifice prevented Fractured Elle from not-existing, because of two reasons. One, he ended Origin's Trial permanently by becoming the millionth catalyst before she did. Two: because he's dead, he would never father the Prime Elle, who would possibly replace her. Fractured people and things cannot exist in the Prime dimension if their Prime version exists in that dimension. It's actually unclear if Prime Elle would be born if Fractured Elle is alive in the Prime dimension, since she does not yet exist. (Fractured Milla prevented Prime Milla from being able to return to the Prime dimension while she was there.)

Fractured dimensions, as far as I can tell, are effectively parallel timelines, with a single catalyst that causes the divergence from the Prime dimension.

Addressing Jewel's point, I think one of the ways to read the endings is that the cycle of timelines doesn't end until Ludger chooses to make that sacrifice. Origin's Trial is not ended in the Normal ending. Chronos says so specifically, although the counter is reset. I don't recall him saying that in the True ending, but I could be mistaken, since I haven't gone to look at it since I played it.

I'm fine with however we want to play it. If you think it's fine, I'm good with it. 3nodding Though I'd suggest that since Fractured Elle exists, and as far as I can tell, this is still the Prime dimension, Prime Elle should not be a potential playable character while Fractured Elle is here.

Prime Elle wouldn't have been able to be born anyway, since Ludger died and he is her father. So, because Prime Elle was never born and never would be, maybe Fractured Elle became the Prime Elle...? God, where's Tobi when you need her two cents?

There can only be one version of a character anyway, so....Yeah. xd

Before I get to what I'm going to say....

Azura Cantarella

You dare ignore the presence of a dragon!? You shall be punished!...With tears, because Mikhail isn't violent and he'll probably just cry. Seriously, though, Ludger and Elle made it on the cast list before Mikhail? O_o?

This actually has nothing to do with the whole dimension thing. My mind would shatter if I tried to get into that. But....If it would help in anyway, I don't mind switching Gaius' timeline to maybe a few months or even a year after Xillia 2. Everything about him right now can easily be transferred into a later Gaius. Muzét can stay, too, since she has no obligatioms to actually stay in the Spirit Realm like Milla, so having her as a cameo still won't really be a problem either.

It'll probably be the True Ending because it has "True" in the name, but it doesn't matter because he's alive in all of them, I think, so whether he knows the reality with Ludger or Elle being alive can be discussed. Either way, someone who died will be standing in front of him and his mind will be blown.

Just a thought....If Azura gives the okay, of course. I don't know why I was tempted to actually mention this in the middle of the dimensional circus, but....Yeah.

EDIT
Sirea Angelie

I know the holidays are coming up and you're probably busy, but I wanted to ask if I should wait for Rose's post before responding to Roy. I meant to ask this awhile ago, but I completely forgot. Sorry if this seems impatient; it's not. I can wait.

If you don't mind waiting. I'll have Rose posted up as soon as I can. I might be hanging out with my sister and a friend today so it'll probably be when I get back that I'll be able to post. 3nodding

^^^ Just quotes in the spoiler

Heh, poor Mikhail. Roy's listed as playing himself, I think, instead of me being behind him, so just in case anyone missed that little fact .... hi, I'm Roy too.

On consideration, I would be willing to advance Alvin shortly after the end of X2 as well. It shouldn't change his gameplay much. He''s still working with Yurgen, but they're working a different angle — my thought is that they nixed the fruit idea and were working on a meat idea, given the skit involving Balan, Rowen, and Jude. (Again, minor detail that's potentially relevant as background.)

I've watched both the True and Normal endings, and played the True one. I think we should decide as a group what "ending" happened in our reality if we do so, on the assumption that all the original Xillia characters have the same back history. If His Majesty prefers the True ending, I'm all for that. (I like it better too.)

I AM SO SORRY. gonk I had another one of those brain fart moments where I opened a new tab to edit the cast list post, then closed it when I thought I hit the submit button when I actually didn't. OTL

Anyway, I don't mind the change. Gaius hasn't run into Alvin or Elize yet anyway, so I don't think there'll be too much of a conflict.

Alvin Svent

Ahh, I see. When I said "parallel timeline", I think I meant to say "normal" parallel timeline? As in, a timeline that doesn't really have anything wrong with it, so it progresses as normal. It sounds to me like fractured dimensions are..."corrupt" parallel timelines that end up falling apart, if that wording fits.

Hm...going off what Karasu said...I think it's simply that Fractured Elle remains Fractured Elle but her existence is safe because a Prime Elle will never exist in the timeline the True Ending is in? The fact that the Prime and Fractured versions of a person can't coexist on the same plane led me to that thinking.

Gah, I really need to get into Xillia and then 2 because I really adore exploring wibbly wobbly multiversal concepts, even if it tends to break my brain sometimes. rofl If only I could afford a PS3. ;u;

Uh....You know Gaius is forty in the True Ending, right? Sure you can account for a seven-year time skip? It's fine with me....Gaius is still a hottie badass regardless.

Also, please note that the seven-year skip is purely a guess. Elle looks like she's fifteen, so that's the age I settled on. sweatdrop

Jishin

But....Didn't Alvin follow Elize into the portal? If you switch Alvin over, then Erryn would need to alter Elize's time, too, wouldn't she?

So may responses.... -deep breath- Okay. Here it goes.

Sirea Angelie

Alrighty. I can wait. ^_^ Have fun today!

Jishin

If you advance Alvin to the end of the True Ending, then it would cause major problems. First, Alvin would be in his thirties, I think. And, since he followed Elize into a vortex, she would need to be switched over to a twenty-year-old Elize. Since you two have already met other characters, there'd be a problem with actually doing that. Your best bet is, if you do want to advance their timeline, the Normal Ending would be more appropriate given the situation.

Azura Cantarella

It's fine. I was just teasing. xp Anyway, thanks. I think it'll help Ludger and Elle in the long run.

Jewel of Antares

Yes, I can. Gaius most likely would have focused on his political duties.

Dragon Knight Karasu

Alright. So, yeah....Feel free to have Ludger call Gaius Erston sometime. He'll be totally up for it. You'll have to buy Gaius a drink, though!

Ugh. Too convoluted. This is why I didn't want to deal with X2. Way too many variables. You guys are right. I'll stick where I am.

Edited to add: why isn't Elize in on this conversation? *tags her*

Also edited to add: I am having a gut emotional reaction of: I do not want to have to avoid my fellow Xillia cast members, part of what I love about the game is their interplay with each other. So I would like things to be as not-weird as possible, however we can work that.

Because I'm too busy setting up for the holidays and making up songs to worry about all these dimensional overlaps.

Seriously, though. I'm willing to go with whatever Alvin/Jishin decides so long as it doesn't actually alter their appearance.

Heh. You're doing a good job with that, princess. Thanks for the pink link gift when I clicked to respond. *amused* So what's the latest holiday song, huh?

I'm going to stay put. Part of the reason I chose this particular time frame for Alvin is that I wanted to explore the changes that would make him into the person he is in X2. You don't just change overnight, especially someone who has a whole lifetime of damage to work through.

What this means: Alvin's not the person Ludger knows by the end of X2, and if Gaius chooses to skip forward, he's not the person Gaius knows either. Seven years makes a big difference. He's younger, less mature, more raw. Still trying to figure out what the right limits and angles are for who he wants to be. If they talk to him about his future, there's a real chance it will cause friction. (This is totally okay with me. I wouldn't have picked a character with so much conflict attached if I wasn't okay with it. Just be aware that there are landmines there.)

I really do want to meet Gaius IC at some point, which is why I'm trying to be careful about this. I'm sitting on a handful of lines I've been just dying to use. *sly grin*

Anyway. That's enough from me. I'm staying put, you guys do what you want.

Hey guys! Just letting you know that Alvin and Roy — and therefore I — will be on a small hiatus until Christmas. Sorry about all the hassle. I'm just really stressed right now (which probably means that all that stuff over the weekend was more complicated than it needed to be, I get that way, sorry sorry), and I need time to take care of way too many holiday things.

I may squeeze in a post here and there if I have time, but I don't want to promise anything.
