Evil Black Swan Mori Kesumi Evil Black Swan The piccolo is an octive higher than flute and is way smaller. other than that, flutes and picolo's are the same thing. I play both. Same EXACT fingerings for both. The way it should work is that the people in the first, second and third chair positions of the flute section in a smaller band should be able to switch from piccolo to flute when needed. (Give or take a few depending on the size of the flute section) And in Larger band or orchestras you can have that and a separate section for piccolos.
Oh and OBOE AND CLARINET HAVE NO SIMILARITIES WHAT SO EVER. I PLAY OBOE AS WELL! YAY!!! ^^ ...Yay what? lol you play oboe too...and, yes! the oboe is a lot more like a sax then a clarinet...

see? someone who agrees with me? ^ ^
my basis is the conical bore, and the 2nd octave mechanism.
Though it's manual, not automatic like sax ^ ^

Oh, and as of yesterday, I own my flute!!! FINALLY!!! I can now officially name it...Adriana! (but it must be said in a spanish accent) and in honor of this memorable occasion, I'm getting Adriana cleaned at the end of this month...a day before I start back with pep band rehersals! Yikes, I hope they don't mess up my beautiful flute...

I found a bunch of sites with the Mario theme. If you googled it, you could find it (:
I need to get a new instrument. My teacher and BD both agree that I need to go the next step further.
I have a feeling I'm going to have to play piccolo. Our only piccolo player is a senior this year, and the piccolo player from the middle school might not even be in band.
