I see, well welcome to PoTS! For the record I'm not Korean nor do I speak the language in its entirety haha, I just know a lot of basic phrases in a lot of different languages. Kinda helps to know these things when you're in a foreign place.

Indeed it does...many do not take the time to understand foreign basic languages that can get them around for special occasions...!

Well in 2008 two friends of mine and I got stuck at the Brussels airport in....well Brussels and no one would help us. Luckily, I speak French fluently and people were more willing to help without the language barrier. In most foreign countries people are just less likely to help you if they can't understand you, and I'd rather not be stuck anywhere for longer than necessary with no way of communicating for any reason. Especially if you need to eat.

Sounds like a good enough reason to learn a foreign language as any. xD

You'd be surprised how many burger joints in Europe I've walked into (I'm talking like Burger King or McDonald's), and the word 'burger' itself isn't a word ANY of the cashiers understand. Just kind of had to point at the pictures of the meals. Which actually brings me to a slightly unrelated note. We in the United States have a ridiculous variety of food at any ONE fast food restaurant. In Amsterdam every burger King had six options on the menu for meals. Six.

Oh, I know. That's why i know how to count to ten in several languages. xD so if I do go, I can easily just say the number and point. xD

But I'm surprised that you've been able to travel so much. I want to travel someday, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.

Yeah, knowing the first ten is at least a foot in the door.

I traveled a good bit up until two years ago. I'll say it's harder to find time or money for travelling once you have more responsibilities on your hands.

I know, I still need to learn basic sentences like " My name is " " Can you help me " " Do you speak English/German " I say German because next school year I'm learning to speak German. xD

Did you know people in these other countries, or did you simply just wing it once you got there? Did you stay in hotels, or Hostels? =D

Those phrases are definitely helpful, mainly being able to ask for help. One that not a lot of people remember is "Where is....?" or "Do you know where.....is?" If you're lost this comes in handy since knowing how to at least get back to where you're staying if you do venture a bit out is necessary.

I have family in London, but I winged it for pretty much every other trip I took. I was supposed to meet a cousin of mine in Amsterdam, but he had some competition to go to so he couldn't leave Denmark. And both hotels and hostels. Never assume a hostel is cheaper than a hotel, I've been able to find awesome hotels with rooms I DON'T have to share with random people I don't know for pretty cheap.

Yeah, I never really thought about that, being able to return to where you are staying would be a fairly good one to know.

Oh, okay. I only said Hostel because of their terrible reputation. So are they as bad as people say they are?

Not at all. I've stayed in hostels that were fancier than the hotels around, with better service. You just have to look into all of these things before you go, you can't just show up and decide you need a hostel/hotel to stay at, otherwise you might find that they're all booked and you have nowhere to stay.
