After a quick stop at Professor Rowan's laboratory to drop off some notes and share a quick beer, Blaine was off to the second item on the to-do list.
"Ronald." The Gym leader said as he boarded the helicopter. "I want you to drop me off at Mt. Coronet. I have some training to do."
"Uh, where on Mt. Coronet?" Ronald asked. "It kinda, you know, covers half the region."
"I don't care! Just put me right, uh, here!" Blaine pointed on the map to the location just outside the Oreburgh City limits.
"So what am I supposed to do while you're spelunking?" The pilot asked.
"I don't care, go grab a coffee. I'll call you when I'm done. This shouldn't take long at all." After a short flight, the helicopter touched down outside the mountain. Blaine stepped off, Proton's pokeball in hand.
"So uh, you want me to grab you a coffee?" Ronald shouted, trying to outdo the spinning rotors.
"No I don't want a coffee!" Blaine shouted. "Now shoo!" Ronald frowned and took off. "Sheesh." The Gym Leader scoffed. "What an annoying man."

Blaine approached the giant maw of the cave and scoffed. "Don't think I'm scared of you. My mountain could erupt and kill us all. You're just a giant, over-glorified dirt mound." Thoroughly offended, the mountain bid him passage.
When inside, Blaine released Mike's Pokemon. It looked around in confusion. Where was it? Weren't they just in a much hotter place? The Magneton turned to look at the man holding his Pokeball. 'Magneee." it droned.
"Why hello there, Proton." Blaine said with a friendly wave. The Magneton said nothing in reply, but shifted his magnets to fashion himself a mustache of his own. The older man looked on in amusement as the Pokemon shifted around to mimic his new trainer. "You certainly are that boy's Pokemon alright."
"Magneee."
"Now I bet you're wondering why you're here." began the Gym Leader. "In Mt. Coronet-that's where we are-there exist a strange field of electromagnetic waves. I'm sure you feel them."
Proton looked around with his three eyes. Come to think of it. This new area did feel a bit...different.
"Studies have shown, and trainers have proven," Blaine continued. "that when you train two Pokemon-that's Magneton and Nosepass-in this area, after a while they experience a strange transformation: an evolution." The man nodded. "And your trainer asked me to take you with me on my trip to Sinnoh-that's where we are-and help you evolve." Proton droned in agreement, mimicking Blaine as he combed his mustache by floating one of his magnets across the other. "Heh, you are quite the Pokemon, Proton." Blaine said with a laugh. "Come on, let's find us some Pokemon to fight."

Blaine and Proton walked inside the dark cave as they looked for something to battle. The Gym Leader took out a flashlight, and Proton made this tips of his magnets glow to further light the path. "Now, what we need are some Zubats or Golbats. They are always hanging around in caves like this."
"Magneee." Proton droned, fiddling with his screws.
"Yeah, all we need is one of those little bloodsuckers to show up and we'll be all se-OOF!" Something caught the Gym Leader's foot and he fell on his face. He would have, if Proton hadn't thrown one of his magnets out to catch him. "Why thank you, Proton." Blaine said, lifting his flashlight to see what it was he tripped over. The light revealed a large, rocky arm that just so happened to be attached to a large rocky Pokemon.
"Graaav!" the groggy Pokemon roared, angry that it was woken up from its nap.
"Tripping over Geodudes and Graveler," Blaine said with a distant look in his eyes. "I feel like a kid again." A loud scraping noise alerted the man to a rock being hurled at his face, and he clumsily dove out of the way. "Ow!" His back popped. "Nevermind. I feel old again. Proton, use Screech! Against a rock-hard Pokemon like that, you want to start off by lowering its defenses. Bring it down to your level!"
"Magnee!" droned the Pokemon in reply. It brought all three of its magnets together and rubbed them against each other with such rapidity it was like a thousand nails on a single chalkboard. Both the Graveler and Blaine cupped their ears.

"Graavler!" the rocky Pokemon roared, taking one of its free arms and throwing a hefty rock at Proton. The rock hit the top left Magnemite square on, and sent it flying back, humorously leaving both magnets and screws in place. The Magneton fired a lightning bolt in retaliation, but it had no effect.
"Electric attacks won't work on a Ground Pokemon, Proton." Blaine said as he checked his Pokedex for Magneton's movelist. "Try, oh boy, only two moves that work, Magnet Bomb!"
Everything had an electrical signal, even this Ground Pokemon. Using that, the Magneton fired one of its magnets towards the Graveler. It traveled in a zig zag pattern, then stuck itself t othe Pokemon's forehead. "Graa?" it said in confusion before being thrown back by a tremendous explosion.
"Aha! And thanks to that Screech earlier, he will be feeling that in the morning!" Blaine laughed as he stood up. A popping sound could be heard. "Oph! And so will I!"
Bits of rock and dirt broke off when the Graveler shook himself back to alertness. That whatever-it-was hurt! Not playing around anymore, the Rock Pokemon jumped into the air and slammed into the ground. The earth beneath Proton cracked open and erupted a shower of dirt and gravel into him. The Magneton buzzed in protest, and his body parts separated and floated around wildly to get the mud and dirt off of him.

"End this fight before it brings the whole cave down on us! Do another Magnet Bomb!" Blaine ordered, holding on to a rock for stability.
"Magneton!" Proton buzzed, his magnet lights glowing bright red. It spun of its magnets and fired it at the Graveler. It stuck to its side. The Pokemon tried in futility to remove it before it exploded, but to no avail. After another explosion, the Pokemon would trouble them no more.
"Good work, Proton." Blaine said, walking over and patting the Pokemon on the side. There was a bright light as the two magnets that were sent off as bombs reformed right before the Gym Leader's eyes. "Fascinating." He remarked, adjusting his sunglasses. "Now let's-" He was interrupted by a loud humming noise behind him. Proton's magnets began to shake violently. They were pulling in something; something big. There was a crashing in the distance, followed by a loud gong-like sound. The ground beneath them began to shake. Blaine took a step behind the Magneton, just to be safe.
"Magne?" Proton droned, its magnets glowing a curious blue color. The noise drew closer and closer. Suddenly, one of Proton's magnets shot off into the darkness. Another fired, then another. The Magneton tried to pull them back, but instead ended up getting dragged himself. Wait a minute, this wasn't how it worked! He could always disconnect his magnets from him, why was he being pulled? The answer came across as a blue tint covered the Magneton's body, and he was sent soaring sideways into the wall. Proton hit the wall and broke apart, his pieces scattering everywhere. Out from the darkness, with some of Proton's magnets still stuck on him, came a large metallic Pokemon. It was green in color with intricate silver markings and two large arm like appendages on its side: a Bronzong.

The two magnets still attached to the Bronzong detonated. The explosion made a loud 'dong' sound and sent the Pokemon spinning into the wall. Despite the powerful blast, the wall suffered much more than the Bronzong, which only had a few scuff marks on him. Proton's parts swirled around as he put himself back together. "Mangee!" he buzzed, his magnets turning a bright red again.
"Proton! Electric attacks will work against this one, so blast it!" Blaine clenched his fist as he gave the order.
Gladly. Proton's screws spun like drills as he built up sufficient electricity to 'blast' this new foe. "Ton!" The cave lit up as the Magneton practically exploded with energy, sending a terrible wave of lightning at the Bronzong. It connected, sending the Pokemon into a wild spin once more. However, as it spun, it began to glow in the same blue that was wrapped around Proton before. Not given enough time to ponder the correlation, the Magneton was sent into the wall with a blast of telekinetic force.
"Hold on there, Proton!" Blaine reached into his pocket for one of his emergency potions and ran over. "I hope this works on machines!" he said as he gave the Pokemon a good spraying. Right as he emptied the bottle, the Bronzong picked Proton back up with its mind and was getting ready to throw him into the wall again. Proton had other plans. Its extremities spinning rapidly, the Magneton loosed a terrible noise that distorted the air around it. The wave washed over the Bronzong, and it lost its focus.
"A Supersonic?" Blaine asked. "Not bad. Not bad at all!"

"Okay Plua, let's start off easy with a Fury Attack!" Riza shouted, pointing at the Sandshrew, which was still looking fairly energetic and healthy, despite being partially roasted underground. Plua gave a cranky-sounding squawk and flapped her wings, scattering a few feathers as she flew towards her opponent, still feeling the annoyance of having been beaten and captured earlier. She repeatedly jabbed at the Sandshrew with her beak though even she could tell that it wasn't as damaging as it should be thanks to the mouse's tough hide.
"Sandshrew use Fury Swipes to fight back!" Devon shouted, not at all intimidated by the large bird Pokemon. "We train against Spearow and Fearow all the time so that thing doesn't stand a chance!" Sandshrew squeaked in reply as it jumped up and landed several strong scratches to Plua's chest, and again the Fearow let out a very angry squawk but it might have been in response to be called a thing.
Riza glanced over at Plua, quickly picking up on the Fearow's anger. "Let's give your Aerial Ace a try," she then said, watching as the Fearow sped off towards the Sandshrew, claws and beak at the ready. She let out another loud screech as she moved in for the attack, already feeling better as she felt them tearing into her opponent, his thick hide doing nothing to protect him from a critical strike. * * * * * Katie kept up her fast pace until she felt too tired to continue, so she sat down on a fallen log for a bite to catch her breath and get a bite to eat. As she munched on a granola bar she enjoyed the sights and sounds and smells of the forest as she wasn't sure when she'd be back here again. She was also thinking about her upcoming gym battle in Eterna City and she couldn't help but wonder what Gardenia was like. She'd heard that she was a very nice but kind of eccentric girl and had a love for grass-type Pokemon. "I bet it's gonna be a fun battle, either way," she whispered, smiling to herself.
It was about that point that a wild Buneary emerged from the underbrush, chasing after a butterfly. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Katie sitting there, though she didn't seem to be scared of the human. If anything she looked as though she wanted part of the granola bar. "What, you want some?" Katie asked, watching the rabbit Pokemon curiously. The Buneary didn't say anything, but both her ears were quivering slightly. Katie broke off a small chunk and held it out to the Pokemon. The Buneary hopped a little closer, her nose twitching intently. For a moment it looked like she'd take the food from Katie's hand but instead at the last possible moment she reached into Katie's backpack and grabbed her Pokedex before bouncing away. "Hey!" Katie yelled, her granola bar forgotten as she grabbed her bag. "Give that back, you rotten little thief!" * * * * * "Ooh, a gym battle?" Fantina remarked, quite intrigued. "Zat sounds very exciting, non? I wish you ze best of luck with zat." She picked up her magazine again and opened it, giggling happily to herself as she skimmed over what must have been a highly amusing article. She perked back up at Ryka's question, still giggling. "Oh, non, non! Just Fantina will do, mon chérie. Z'ere iz no need for formalities here. I am on my way to Cerulean City, where I have been asked to sit in as a juge d'invité spécial for ze next Pokemon Contest. I am so excited zat I can hardly stand it!" She flipped a few pages in the magazine, and showed it to Ryka. "Look, me voici!" There was a relatively large photo of Fantina, holding a very gorgeous golden trophy adorned with red velvet ribbons. At her side floated a ghostly, purple Pokemon with red gems set around her neck. "And zis iz my most trusted partner, Mismagius!"

The Bronzong tilted to the side, losing some of its balance in its confused state. However, even in this state, Proton wasn't about to drop its guard.
"Thunder Wave, Proton!" Blaine shouted. "Further disable him!"
Proton fired a weak little blast of electricity, hoping to paralyze the bell. The attack connected, and coursed through the steel Pokemon's body. It flailed its arms in anger, glowing and intense blue color. Rocks around him began to glow in the same hue, and swirled around him like a barrier. Proton fired another Thunderbolt, but the spinning rocks deflected it. The Bronzong drew closer, blocking shot after shot as it approached. In desperation, Proton fired on of it's magnets, which bypassed the Bronzong's defenses and scored a hit. Unfortunately, it did little more than provide the enemy a smokescreen where it could fly out of and surprise Proton. The bell slammed into Proton, the still spinning rocks tossing the Magneton's parts across the cavern.
Proton pulled his pieces back, and covered the Bronzong with his parts. The Bronze Bell stopped, and tried to smash the scattered pieces with his rocks. By manipulating polarity and being in good favor with lady luck, Proton managed to avoid getting any of his pieces smashed. The Magneton's pieces swarmed around the Bronzong, narrowly avoiding the rocks thrown their way.

"Proton, try to reform and blast him with another Thunderbolt!"
"Magne!" Proton buzzed, his magnets still glowing a bright red hue. He needed to do this right. A rock smashed right near one of his magnets and he stuck it on. One less target. Another rock crashed nearby another magnet. This one was easier. Soon all three of the Pokemon's magnets were attached. Now! The Magnets exploded, taking out all but two of the rocks orbiting around the Bronzong. In the confusion, Proton slipped off of the opposing character and put himself back together. He couldn't generate any electricity without the magnets, so he needed to reform them.
The Bronzong wasn't going to give him the chance. As soon as he saw Proton trying to reform his arsenal, it grabbed one of the Magnemite heads with its psychic energy and tore it away from the body, throwing the remaining two rocks at the two faces left. The rocks smashed into Proton, who was once again in pieces. The Magneton tried to pull himself back together, but he couldn't.
"Proton!" Blaine screamed. "Get up!" He reached for another potion, but that was his last one. "You gotta get up!"
The Bronzong glowed blue, and once again pulled some rocks from the ground to surround him. The separated Proton head rolled weakly towards the rest of his body, but it wasn't going to make it. The Bronzong flew over to the lone face and smashed into it, grinding the rocks against the metal ball. Sparks flew as the rocks scraped and pelted the helpless face.
"Proton! Get up!"
A loud screeching noise echoed through the cavern, and it was suddenly filled with a bright white light.

All the scattered pieces of Proton glowed a brilliant white light and crackled with tremendous electrical energy. All of the light was drawn to a central point in the cave, where it fused into a giant ball of energy. Lightning crackled and shot out in all directions, lighting the cave. A nearby Zubat enjoying a nap was blasted off the ceiling. The Bronzong raced towards the light, but was pushed back by a blast of lightning. The lightning wrapped around him, binding him in paralysis. The energy pulsated and crackled, forming into a large, disc shape. light swirled to its side and back, forming large 'U' shaped appendages. The form split into three shapes: one large center body and two smaller, but attached parts. In a flash, the light dispersed, revealing Proton to be a fully evolved Magnezone.
"Spectacular!" Blaine cheered, looking over the newly transformed Pokemon. "Now let's send this Pokemon packing!"
"Magneee." droned the Magnezone (albeit in a slightly deeper tone), its magnets, now much larger, emitting a deep and sinister red glow. It moved his large center eye in focus on his enemy. The Bronzong raised another barrier of orbiting rocks, but Proton blasted through it with his newly improved Thunderbolt. Sensing defeat, the Bronze Bell Pokemon attempted to escape, but Proton's magnetism kept him from fleeing. As he tried to run, his body locked up due to paralysis, and he smashed into the ground. Proton hovered over the now helpless Bronzong and detached its magnets. The three floated above the steel bell and discharged an awesome amount of electricity straight into the disabled Pokemon. After a few blasts, it submitted, and stopped moving. The red glow on its magnets subsided, and it quietly floated over to Blaine.
"Very impressive." remarked the Gym Leader. He never had the chance to see Magneton or Magnezone in action, because only a fool would expect a Volcano Badge with Steel Pokemon, but he was very pleased with what he saw. "Mike is going to be very pleased to see you like this!"
"Magnezone!" droned the Pokemon, his magnets glowing bright blue. The Gym Leader flipped his phone open and called for Ronald to pick them up. "Sorry Proton, but your magnetism will meddle with the helicopter's navigation systems, so you'll have to stay in the ball until you get back. Plus, you're too big!" Blaine chuckled as he recalled the Pokemon. Having not walked very far, the Gym Leader only had a short trek to make before he found himself outside Mt. Coronet. He saw Ronald in the distance, coming in for a landing.
"Nope. Not too long at all."

Alphonse devoured the food Kasiya had given him in record time, and when he was finished, he shoved the now-empty lid back towards his trainer, patting his stomach happily. Kasiya looked around as she put the canister of food back into her bag, hoping there would be more wild Pokemon around for her to battle with. She didn't see any, though, except for a few Starly and Staravia flying by overhead, and she was quite certain that Piplup were unable to take to the skies. "Starly must be as common in Sinnoh as Pidgey are in Kanto and Johto," she murmured to herself. Alphonse looked up at her curiously, not really sure what a Pidgey, Kanto or Johto was. If it was something to eat, he'd love to try it! Kasiya stood up and stretched, giggling a bit when she saw Al do the same. "Oh, hey! I have an idea!" she said, unhooking a Pokeball from her belt. "Since there's no Pokemon around for you to battle with, you could train against one of your teammates!"
Alphonse stared at her again. This human certainly was strange, especially with all the strange things she said. He hadn't a clue what teammates were, and he continued to stare in her direction even as Kasiya clicked open a Pokeball, allowing the release of an orangey red lizard-like Pokemon that was easily three times Alphonse's hight. "Piiip?" the little Penguin asked inquisitively, eying the flame burning brightly at the end of Nova's tail. He remembered Professor Rowan saying something about Water-type Pokemon having an advantage over Fire-type Pokemon, and he stood up on tiptoe and stuck out his chest. After mastering Water Pulse, this fiery lizard thing would be no problem!
=-=-=-=-= There was no evading this attack for Blaziken, as instead of a concentrated blast intended as a direct attack, Exeggutor spread it out, and instead caught the dual Fire and Fighting-type in a psychic hold. Blaziken struggled with all her might but couldn't seem to break free. Not only that, but her mind had begun to feel muddled. The attack ended and Blaziken dropped to the ground, landing clumsily on all fours. "It's time to go all-out, Blaziken!" Jaeshan called, deciding he was tired of Erika's Exeggutor making them look like fools. "Flamethrower!"
Blaziken let out a roar and jumped to her feet, fully intent on barbecuing the Exeggutor until it was an unrecognizable crispy critter, but that wouldn't be the case. Blaziken took a step forward, already gathering the flames within her, but in her confusion she somehow tripped over seemingly nothing and face-planted the floor, causing pain for herself, and more embarrassment for her trainer. Jaeshan sighed and held up her Pokeball, recalling her. Not only would this cause her confusion to go away, but it would also reduce the severity of her poisoning. The blonde sighed and ran a hand through his hair, feeling more and more stupid as each round passed by. "Shelgon, don't let me down!" he called as he sent out the dragon Pokemon. "Dragon Dance, let's go!" The command was barely past her trainer's lips as the Endurance Pokemon initiated her mystical dance, feeling the familiar rush of adrenaline that signaled a much needed boost in both her speed and attack power.
=-=-=-=-= Erika couldn't help but feel bad for Jaeshan and his Blaziken, assuming that he'd sent the Fire-type out knowing he'd have a tremendous advantage over her. The Blaze Pokemon had never really gotten much of a chance to attack her Exeggutor at all, as all it had to show from that last fight was a bit of a bruise on its midsection where she'd kicked him. The sight of the Shelgon, however, confused her, as she'd never encountered a Pokemon like that before. Even so, she remained calm and collected, never letting on that the strange Pokemon had slightly unnerved her.
"Stomp, Exeggutor," she called, figuring that such a large, round Pokemon would make for a nice, large target. All of Exeggutor's heads seemed to cheer in unison as it tromped forward, leaving fairly large footprints in the ground as it ran. As it neared Shelgon it jumped, its powerful legs carrying it high into the air as it prepared to smash both feet down on the dragon Pokemon.

"Yes," Ryka agreed, "very exciting, indeed. But these Pokémon contests...they sound very exciting, too! And congratulations for being selected as a guest judge! It must also be very exciting." Ryka contemplated the idea for a moment before asking, as politely as she could, "If you would not mind my asking, what exactly are Pokémon contests? I have never heard of them before."
Ryka took a look at the magazine being shoved in her direction; she didn't mind, of course, but it was hard to look at anything else. "Wow! That is a beautiful picture...and such a large trophy!" Ryka said in awe. The banner in the background said 'Ribbon Cup'. Was this like the Pokémon League of contests?
"Oh, Fantina, congratulations! And your partner - Mismagius? - she is beautiful, as well." Ryka smiled at the photo, at how happy the two of them looked together. Maybe someday...that could be us, Iris. More smiles surfaced at the simple thought. Yes, maybe contests could be fun, too.

Mateo inhaled deeply and closed his eyes, his expression one of resolve. He wasn't the least bit surprised to see the Misdreavus sent into battle to counter his Medicham, though by no means was he a stranger to battling against Pokemon of the ghost type. He opened his eyes once again as he heard Nina give her command, and he looked quickly to his Pokemon. "Calm Mind," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. The Meditate Pokemon gave a quick nod and closed her eyes, bringing her hands up in front of her face. As she did so, her entire body began to shimmer lightly as she concentrated, in doing so managing to block out the effects of Anna's Confuse Ray as well as raising her special attacking and defensive capabilities. "Do not underestimate us, Miss Williams," Mateo said calmly, his face expressionless. ===== Miharu winced after seeing Aska take a direct hit from the Growlithe's Flamethrower, though her worry faded as she saw the Pokemon flap her wings, bringing herself higher into the sky and possibly out of the reach of the Puppy Pokemon's flames. I can't believe she's evolved, Miharu thought fondly, memories of the bird as a tiny Pidgey flashing through her mind. Aska's evolution had seemed to spark something in Tingle as well, for the Metang seemed more eager and alert than Miharu could ever remember seeing it. The Marshtomp was looking significantly weaker after being blasted by the Metang's Psychic and without being told to, the Iron Claw Pokemon followed it up with an Aerial Ace, leaving the Marshtomp in an unconscious heap in the sand. Sydney could only stare in awe, astounded by both the evolution and the sudden onslaught of attacks from the Metang. At Miharu's command, Aska dove down from the sky, initiating a Fly attack.
Needless to say, the battle came to an abrupt end right then and there, and Sydney recalled her two Pokemon, still looking slightly dazed even as she congratulated Miharu on the win and her evolution. Miharu thanked her and the two walked back to the Pokemon Center to get some much needed treatment for their Pokemon, and Miharu knew now that she and Aska would soon be soaring through the skies, glad to be getting off this island.

Nina tilted her head a little bit, a smile on her face. "Impressive, Mateo," she commented. To be perfectly honest, she wasn't expecting his Medicham to be able to so easily avoid being affected by the Confuse Ray. "It seems as though you've invested a lot of time into raising your Pokemon, so that it wouldn't be susceptible to such tricks. Yes; I've no doubt that the time you've spent with Medicham has been the most invaluable asset to its strength." Her smile broadened a bit. Anna smiled a bit, as well. It was eerily sinister. "However," Nina went on, "time is an asset of mine, as well, specifically the ability to determine when a Pokemon's end is near. And let me say one thing: you're gonna want to have Medicham pack as much living as it can into the next couple of minutes."
Anna opened her mouth and a hauntingly beautiful and melancholy song filled the air. The lights in the Gym flickered a few times, before going out completely, only to be turned back on a moment later. A large, ghostly clock with three numbers and one hand on it appeared for a moment; the hand was resting on the number 3.
"The bell will toll for you, Mateo."

Nova stared down at the little blue blob standing in front of her, clearly neither impressed nor intimidated by the little Penguin's stance. "Chaarr? Meeeleon?" she asked, looking up at Kasiya, her tone seemingly stating "You're kidding me, right?" Her flaming tail flickered in annoyance and she crossed her arms over her chest and snorted, sending out a short puff of smoke. She'd been hoping that the next time Kasiya let her out of her Pokeball that she'd get another shot at that leafy idiot, Pan. Taking another look around, though, the Charmeleon quickly realized that she, her trainer, and the runty blue Pokemon were alone. Nova growled and bared her fangs, assuming that she'd been sent out to take down this little runt. "Chaaar!" she growled again, spitting out a small stream of fire. She was ready!
"Nova, stop it," Kasiya said quickly, getting to her feet and putting herself between the two Pokemon before the Charmeleon could turn Alphonse into charcoal. "This is Alphonse, he's the newest member of our team. Al, this is Nova!" The Piplup huffed and folded his flippers across his chest, still not sure what Kasiya meant. Nova, on the other hand, upon hearing that the little blue pipsqueak was now part of the team, relaxed her stance a bit, though she couldn't help but be annoyed at Kasiya - another Water-type! What was she thinking! "Anyway," Kasiya went on, oblivious to the Charmeleon's annoyance, "you two are gonna train together! Doesn't that sound like fun?"
The two Pokemon blinked and exchanged glances - no, not really, but neither of them wanted to disappoint the blonde-haired girl. At Kasiya's direction, the two took positions opposite each other. Nova still looked unimpressed, while Alphonse looked confident, and though Al had the type advantage Kasiya was pretty sure that Nova could clean the Piplup's clock without even breaking a sweat. "Alphonse, start with your Agility," she told the penguin. "Nova, you use Dragon Dance. I want you working on your speed and evasion while Alphonse continues to work on his accuracy." Both Pokemon nodded and did as they were told, both glowing slightly as their stats received the very welcoming boosts. Kasiya smiled, quite excited at the prospect of working with her two least experienced Pokemon.
=-=-=-=-= Jaeshan grinned when he heard Erika's command for a Stomp, and he looked quickly to Shelgon. It seemed the calm and serene gym leader had just made her first mistake. He didn't even have to give Shelgon an order as she hunkered down, her eyes narrowed into determined, yellow slits. Exeggutor's large feet slammed down hard onto her back, but the dragon's hard, thick shell was more than enough to protect her from most of the damage. She moved quickly to the side, snorting as the Coconut Pokemon toppled to the ground, leaving it wide open. Jaeshan smirked. "Flamethrower," he shouted, not wasting a single second.
The air around the Shelgon seemed to intensify with heat as she drew in a deep breath, taking in power for her newest attack. She stepped forward as she exhaled a powerful stream of flames, and both she and Jaeshan seemed to cheer a little as the Coconut Pokemon disappeared in a wave of fire. Now THAT'S a Fire-type attack, Jaeshan thought. No more measly little Embers!
=-=-=-=-= Erika let out a frightened gasp as her Exeggutor practically bounced off Shelgon's hard, impenetrable shell and landed hard on the ground nearby. "Exeggutor, get up!" she shouted, urgency and worry present in her voice for the first time since the match had started. The Coconut Pokemon looked quite distressed as it rushed to try and get to its feet, but in its haste it fumbled and fell over itself, and in doing so leaving it wide open to Shelgon's powerful Flamethrower. Each head let out a pained screech, and once the flames died down it got to its feel, blackened patches now covering most of its body. Many of the large palm leaves growing out of the top of its head had been singed down to little nubs. "Oh dear," Erika whimpered, even as the Pokemon danced around angrily. It seemed this challenger was better than she initially had given him credit for.
"We're not out of this yet, Exeggutor! Use Hypnosis!" Erika called, trying to regain her calm, cool and collected composure. The Coconut's eyes all began to glow with a bright, golden-yellow. Let's see how well she fights when she's sleeping, the gym leader thought, though she was still worried.
