As Matsuo's sword plunged downward there was a noise from upstairs and the demon appeared at the top of the stairs. It moved slowly down the stairs. If Matsuo continued her thrust it would pierce the heart of the David that lay at her feet and thier would be a slight cough that expelled blood from his mouth. The demon would then move down the stairs slowly and smile at Matsuo and 9. ((If your sword can actually destroy illusion then it would disperse the illusion shortly after your stab. If not it will linger for about a minute.))

((Alright Xol but I'll do you one better. I'll go fix another cup of coffee while I wait and then reply.))

As 9 ran up the stairs the demon released another flash of blackness and suddenly David was in front of it being held as a limp human shield. His breathing had strengthened and his eyes fluttered weakly as if he were nearly concious.

Meanwhile Shadow looked at the series of attacks Xol had launched. The floor wasn't even a distraction, Shadow was after all an earth mage so that was not intimidating. As the anti-matter shot towards him though his eyes narrowed. He remembered quite well the results of this type of Xol's attacks. Shadow decided that evasion was the best strategy right now so he said quickly. Using tricks? And what is your speed, healing, and energy attacks if not tricks? Even as he spoke he was sinking into the floor and moving through the ground to arise on the other side of the attacks. He emerged from the wall behind where Xol had launched his attacks and looked around quickly to relocate the dark seraphim.

As 9 attacked the illusion seemed to shatter and suddenly the tables were turned and the demon seemed to be revealed to be holding David who now had a knife in each leg and was moaning softly in pain. Words formed slowly from his mouth as he said. "Why mother. Why'd you have to hurt me?"

There was a slight hissing sound in the air behind her that seemed to be the demon rising to strike her. Warm breath, smelling slightly of brimstone, would caress the back of her neck. As an image of a demon rose as if to strike her.

9's claws ripped out the demon's throat and a viscous dark fluid sprayed into the wall as it's body fell down the stairs landing at the bottom in a sprawl. As it hit the bottom there was a loud snap and it's head lay at an unnatural angle. Behind 9 however came a pained gasp and David's voice continuing the weak pained question of "Why mother? It hurts so much and you did it. Don't you love me anymore mother? What are you turning into? Those claws scare me. Please someone help me. She wants to hurt me again." With that he trailed off into weak, pained, sobs.

David tried to pull away feebly his sobs trailing off to a terified, hiccupping, mewling. He sounded so frail and so fragile that it seemed an unspoken statement hanging above 9. 'You did this'. He cried as he tried to pull away and his legs kept bleeding. "Stop. Someone help." David tried to call out but his words were barely more than a weak whisper.

The demon simmered into the sight of all but 9 as it fed on her fear and used the strength it gained from the fear to increase the power of the illusion. As it did so David's body would begin to cool and his final words would be a soft confused "The Lady? She was nice to me when I was in the forest. Her and the nice man Tyrsais helped me when you were away. That was before you changed though. Tyrsais was so nice that time when he took me to the Lady. She had a nice laugh but she said that she gave me something. I never saw it though so I guess I lost it. That was before I was sick though. That was before you hurt me." As he spoke his voice faded and the light left his eyes as his spirit faded. His blood clotted around the knives in his legs and suddenly he was just a rapidly cooling body.
