The shocked and confused look on Ben's face was almost more rewarding for Jasper than Zorua's successful deflection had been. He nodded at the boy's first question, but then followed it up with a shrug. "She's uh... special?" he offered with a bit of a goofy grin. Zorua-gator preened - of course she was special!

Both Jasper and Zorua tilted their heads at Ben's next command, and the bandanna-wearing trainer pursed his lips slightly. Had that really been Croconaw out there, getting that up-close-and-personal with the gator's face would likely have gotten the adorable little mouse on the wrong end of the water type's scary fangs. Zorua braced herself, not sure how to react to being swatted in the face by the Pichu's tail, but it unnerved her and she gave a growl. "Follow it up with Pursuit," Jasper said, scratching his chin a bit. Normally, getting hit would break the fox's Illusion - perhaps the attack had to be directly-damaging in order to break it? As Jasper pondered his Pokemon's curious ability, Zorua-gator became cloaked in a sort of dark energy, lunching at the Tiny Mouse Pokemon while it was still in close proximity.

Upon realizing that she was beginning to run dangerously low on empty pages in her sketchbook, Hayley flipped it closed and tucked the pencil into the coils, beaming at Mike. Sure, she still felt a minor twinge of nervousness - she always did whenever she showed someone her drawings, but she realized it wasn't likely that this boy would have anything negative to say about them. "Of course!" she said, packing the sacred book carefully into her backpack. "Just say the word and we can have like, a mini-exhibit or something." Still smiling hugely, the brunette turned to the pair of electric mice, whom seemed to be getting along more than well. So well, in fact, that the experienced Shocker was showing the incredibly-eager Kaylee some nifty little tricks of the electric type trade.

It seemed that all little errands had been completed now, and the brunette recalled Kaylee to her side. The little Pikachu was having none of this walking crap, however, and in a few quick jumps, had perched herself happily on Hayley's shoulder. The girl and her Pikachu watched the other two trainers somewhat distantly; regardless of how adorable the two trainers were together, Hayley couldn't help but feel a teensy bit left out, and maybe even a teensier bit jealous - not of either trainer specifically, more because they had someone. That line of thought did trigger Hayley's occasionally forgetful and flaky brain into remembering part of the reason she'd left home in the first place, and she made a mental note to herself to start looking for leads as to where her missing brother could possibly be.

Hayley looked up as Mike directed a question at her, and she blinked a few times before nodding quickly. "Yep! Our very first badge. Or, badge attempt, I guess, as it doesn't really count as a badge until you're holding it in your hand. I'm definitely a bit nervous though, I mean I've never even won a battle before! But hey as my Papa always says, go big, or go home!" The brunette laughed, mostly to herself, and she reached up and rubbed Kaylee's cheek, causing the mouse to close her eyes and sigh happily. "We've got this, though," she said, giving the two veteran trainers a bit of an impish look. "I'm sure Kaylee will do just fine against Brock!" She waited for all of a second to burst into a fit of giggles, shaking her head and dismissing the statement. "I'm kidding, of course," she said, now earning a bit of a nasty scowl from the Pikachu. "Hey, rock/ground types and electricity don't mix. When we find a water Pokemon gym, then you can totally be a rock star, okay?" Kaylee still looked mildly offended, but she glanced over at Shocker again, and nodded. Truth be told, she'd much rather sit on the sidelines and laugh at Ivy getting her butt kicked than actually participate in the battle.

What felt like days worth of training blurred by in a couple of hours. With no trainers around and only Geodude to fight (and maybe the occasional Onix) Kilik was getting rather bored of the same cave walls. He sighed heavily, leaning back against a large boulder, checking his Poketch. Six hours. Six hours he'd been down in this cave since breakfast, and it felt like very little progress had been made. He glanced up at Chimchar, who was showing his own signs of fatigue and near-boredom. "Well," Kilik said with a bit of a stretch, "care to take a lunch break?" His stomach let out a mighty grumble, which was matched by his simian companion's. The boy knelt down to Chimchar's level and pulled a few things out of his pouch. "Let's see we got...three granola bars, a can of peaches, and..." he picked up a crumpled bag, "half a bag of broken up potato chips. Not exactly a feast, but no need to hike all the way back to the Center just to grab some lunch." While his stomach would say otherwise, Kilik sat down and got comfortable against the wall.

Chimchar wiped some dirt from his forehead and hands, letting out a heavy sigh. What a long day it's been already! When was he going to evolve? He could feel it in his bones, something tingling! Genki must have felt something similar when he got near his evolution, mustn't he? He snatched up the can of peaches from in front of Kilik and popped it open, drinking the juices first. They were quite delicious and, to be honest, very refreshing. Somehow, despite being in Kilik's bag all day, they were still pretty chill. The chimp glanced up at his trainer and blinked. This was the first time he'd seen Kilik look so...glumly.

And glum he felt. He rested his cheek against his hand and sighed, biting into a stale granola bar. He checked his watch again. Only five minutes had passed since he last looked at it. What was the problem? Boredom? Fatigue? Anxiety? Nah, couldn't be. I could beat Roark with my eyes closed. Or was it something else that was bothering him? He had figured Katie had made it to her destination intact and safe. Kilik checked his watch again and still no message. Did she get hurt? He shook his head. No, she was a very capable trainer. The boy stood up and brushed some dust from his pants. "None of my other friends have called me, either," he said to nobody. "Must be busy haaaangin' out." Though he preferred to travel alone (so he could move at his own pace and not need to rely on others), having a companion from time to time was nice. He looked down at Chimchar, who was standing on edge. "Huh? What's the probl--" he glanced up to see exactly what the problem was.

A very large, very intense Onix loomed before them. The boy clenched his fist and immediately felt all senses of loneliness, fatigue and mostly all of his negative emotions flood out of him. "Finally, something interesting! Chimchar, let's do it!" A battle, an almost fear-inducing battle, was just what he needed to get his blood boiling. This is what trainers live for!

Chimchar poured the chip crumbs into his mouth and threw the bag haphazardly to the ground. His tail flared up and he could feel that tingling feeling intensify. Everything seemed hotter, and he imagine the ground practically melting beneath his feet when he took a step forward. "Chiiim...!" the simian clenched his fists as well. Time to put up or shut up.

Ben winced as Pichu was hit by the onrushing gator, falling back and landing on the ground with a cry. As Pichu slowly brushed itself off and rose to its feet, Ben was surprised that it was not hurt more. Surely an evolved Pokemon like that would be stronger... Ben furrowed his brow. This was getting more and more confusing. Clenching his fists, Ben called out another move. "Pichu, Thunder Wave! Stun it so it can't move!" Pichu dashed quickly toward the Gator before leaping high into the air and loosing a stream of electricity that aimed directly for Croconaw's muscles. If direct contact wouldn't paralyze the Pokemon, then this attack would.

Normally Riza would have smiled when her stubbornness won out over Crenu's, but this time things were different. The situation was much more serious and she watched him as he drained about half the bottle. She didn't know a whole lot about what could be wrong with him, but after she had hiked through Mount Moon she'd been pretty parched and fatigued herself so the water wouldn't likely hurt him. She could see that he was struggling to stay focused and she knew that it must have been hard on him.

"Finish it," she said, pointing at the half empty water bottle. "Or at least drink a little bit more." She managed a kind smile, but it didn't mask her worry. The red spots on the bandages were steadily growing larger and she could see that he was having difficulty breathing now. She squeezed his hand and leaned forward and kissed his forehead. "All right. Celadon it is." She also didn't know if there were any hospitals or medical centers in Pewter. "Oh, I know you'll be okay to fly. Just leave that up to me." She stood up, taking Faustus' poke ball from her belt. "I'd been hoping to save him for a surprise for later, like perhaps the next contest, but I'm afraid you've forced my hand. We'll get to Celadon in no time now."

The magnificent Dragonair appeared along side his mistress, cooing softly. He recognized the blonde boy leaning against the rock and gave Riza a worried look. "Don't worry, Faustus, we're taking him to the hospital. And don't you worry, Crenu, Faustus is plenty big and strong enough to fly the both of us there." Obediently, the still newly evolved dragon lowered himself so that the two human passengers could climb onto his back. Riza made sure they were both secure before she gave the command and the Dragonair rose into the sky, Celadon city their destination.

As Riza urged him to drink more, Crenu brought the bottle to his lips and finished the rest. He hadn't thought about it but the hike had made him quite thirsty. That was the furthest thing from his mind though, just staying upright was hard enough. He wasn't really feeling better, but he was feeling more stable in a way, and ve watched Riza curiously as she spoke. "Surprise?" He eyed her pokeball curiously, clearly her Fearow wasn't inside. He stared in great interest as a completely new pokemon emerged from the pokeball, a rather glorious Dragonair sitting before them. It would seem that her Dratini had evolved, that was one hell of a surprise. Definitely something that would dazzle the contest stage. But leave it up to her? Was she expecting him to ride with her? Crenu already had his hand on Pet Shop's pokeball, but he just didn't have a choice. The raven haired beauty ushered him onto the dragon, and Crenu hung on tightly as they took to the sky. It was a surprisingly speedy pokemon, the long serpentine dragon easily taking their weight as it raced towards the big city of Celedon. Crenu felt dizzy again, with the lack of blood in his system changing altitude wasn't so easy and he nearly lost his balance. He clung to Faustes and regain himself as they flew, he felt so worthless and weak. But the Dragonair did the job and before long the three of them touched down near their destination. Crenu did his best to stand on his own as he got off of Faustes, but the rapid change in altitude so soon really did a number on him and he collapsed to his knees. Crenu could barely keep himself conscious, he had severe tunnel vision as things started to go dark. His bandages were a deep crimson and soaked with warm blood, but he refused to go down. "...Got...to stay...awake.." He tried to get back up, damn near crawling forward as he tried to stand. But he knew the facts. "Riza I'm...I...sorry. I..lo.." The lights faded as the darkness closed in, Crenu hit the floor no longer able to stay conscious. He was still breathing, but it was weak and labored.

"You won't be disappointed," Kasiya smiled as Hayley put her sketch book away. "You really need to see the one she did of Seto! It's amazing and looks just like him!" She smiled as Shocker had made her way back over, looking quite satisfied with herself. Kasiya knelt down and scooped the bigger mouse up in her arms. "Hey, maybe you shouldn't do that," she told the mouse fondly, kissing her on the nose, and then between her eyes and then on the nose again. "Someday Kaylee might use all your moves against you." Shocker just shrugged. She didn't see anything wrong with helping out her fellow Electric-type, and she looked forward to seeing just how strong the little Pikachu would be someday.

Kasiya was on the receiving end of affections from both her Raichu and boyfriend, and at times it almost seemed like Shocker and Mike were in a competition of sorts. The blonde just smiled, more than able to tolerate it, and she shrugged. "Well, if they gave awards for frequent party-swapping, I think I'd have five of them by now," she admitted. "But don't forget, sometimes it wasn't by choice." The girl closed her eyes and sighed, but Shocker didn't give her a chance to feel sad as she nuzzled her trainer. Nothing would ever separate them again, and both trainer and Pokemon were resolute about that.

The attention was then shifted to Hayley, and Kasiya chuckled quietly to herself, hoping that she and Mike weren't making the brunette feel like a third wheel. Kasiya remembered her first badge quite well - it had also been here, in Pewter City and she grinned impishly as she recalled Ariel's sweeping victory. Shocker, still a Pikachu and Hiro (still named Growly at that point) the Growlithe had watched that battle from the sidelines, practically green with envy. She'd opened her mouth to mention that having the Grass-type Snivy would make the gym match a cinch, but when Hayley calmly stated that she intended to use her Pikachu in battle with the Rock-type trainer, her skin paled a little. "But-" she started, but of course, the brunette was kidding. Kaylee wasn't overly happy with the decision, but if Hayley intended to make Misty the target of her second badge, there was a large likelihood that Kaylee could take most of that battle herself. "I agree, you're going to do fine," she said. "And a win against a gym leader will be the best first win ever," she added.

Mike's superb navigation skills and ability to follow a GPS had them at what the sign out front promised as the store with 'The Best Ice Cream in Kanto.' Kasiya surveyed the building; it was cute, homey and looked like it was locally owned. "Best ice cream, huh?" she snorted. "I'll be the judge of that!" The girl and her Raichu then proceeded to stroll into the little shop like they owned the place. They were the only customers at the moment, but that suited Kasiya just fine. She and Shocker parked themselves at the counter, both grinning excitedly. "A giant cherry sundae, please!" she said, looking to Shocker, who touched a paw to her chin thoughtfully, and she nodded.

"Raii-chuu."

"And one not-as-giant chocolate sundae, as well!"

Jaeshan listened attentively as Kevin spoke, taking in the advice and nodding to show that he understood. He wasn't quite sure what he meant by dazzling and points however; sure, he guessed the glow Sigilyph had taken on looked... nice? The mentions of Stun Spore and Sleep Powder seemed familiar, as did the concept of poisoning, but Jae wasn't sure just why. Before he knew it, though, Mismagius had launched a Confuse Ray.

"Sigilyph, Tailwind!" Jae called quickly. Sigilyph, not liking the idea of getting confused quickly flapped his little wings and kicked up a gust of wind. It blew from behind the Avianoid Pokemon, boosting his speed and he narrowly avoided Mismagius' Confuse Ray. Jaeshan smiled. His newest Pokemon was already proving to be something special.

"GRRROOOOOORRR" the Onix bellowed, rushing forward with a Tackle attack. Both Kilik and Chimchar dove out of the way as it crashed into the wall behind them. The rock snake turned quickly and wrapped its tail around the simian, lifting it from the ground. "No!"

Helplessly digging his nails into the rocky hide of the Onix, Chimchar grit his teeth and struggled hard against the snake. He could hear Kilik calling out to him, but the words seemed muffled and far away. Instincts told him to punch the ever loving goodness out of the Onix's tail. Yet all he could muster was blasting as strong as an Ember he could from his mouth right into the Rock-type's eyes. Chimchar felt himself fall from the grip of the titan, and landed on the ground with grace, panting heavily. That Onix got a sneak attack in; it wouldn't happen twice. Clenching his fists together and pounding his chest, the little ape shot fire up into the air which landed at his feet in a perfect circle. Chimchar continued to pound his chest, as if trying to intimidate the Onix into leaving.

Kilik wiped some sweat away from his forehead. Suddenly, the flames that were at Chimchar's feet flared and engulfed the simian completely. It was quite bright, enough so that the boy had to shield his eyes from the flames. Meanwhile, the confused Onix, having recovered from being practically blinded, thrashed his tail and swung at the hovering fireball. It missed and nearly took Kilik out in the process. The boy climbed to the top of a rock, where he figured he'd be relatively safe from the thrashing tail of that Onix. "Chimchar, let's go! Take him out!" He called out. The fireball floated for a moment and flashed forward quickly across the face of the Onix, causing the titan to groan in pain. It was almost impossible to see as the ball bobbed and weaved around the snake, attacking it from all sides before it could even formulate a reaction.

The fireball hit the ground and slid back a bit. In one final desperation attack, the Onix thrust itself forward to Tackle and found nothing but a fist brought down directly onto its nose. As the fist crashed into him, the flames disappeared and before the trainer and Onix stood a newly evolved Monferno. His long tail burned brilliantly in the dark cave, and a smug grin appeared on his face. "Ferno!" he cried, attacking more and more as the Onix lay helpless.

Kilik jumped up and cheered. "Yes! Finally! Way to go Monferno!" He took out his Pokedex and held it up.

"Monferno, the Playful Pokemon." Kilik couldn't help but laugh at this. It looked anything BUT playful, "The evolved form of Chimchar. To intimidate attackers, it stretches the fire on its tail to make itself appear bigger. A bigger fire on its tail and a brighter blue pattern on its face means its rank in its pack is higher. It skillfully controls the intensity of the fire on its tail to keep its foes at an ideal distance." it chimed. After the initial scanning, it opened up Monferno's moves, which Kilik concluded it was using Mach Punch, a powerful move that strikes quickly. When he looked up from his device, he had noticed the Onix had retreated back to wherever it had come from. Kilik hopped off the rock and ran over to his Monferno, hugging it closely. It reminded him a lot of Flareon; just how warm and inviting it felt.

Monferno was breathing heaviliy. Not out of fatigue, but the adrenaline of his evolution was finally wearing off. He waved his tail back and forth and relaxed slightly. His muscles loosened and the ape let out a quiet sigh. Then he looked at his hands. Finally, he'd done it! He accomplished what Genki had! And while he was sure the other Monferno was close to evolving a second time, it was only a matter of time before he had reached that plateau was well!

Kilik stood and placed a hand on his newly evolved Pokemon, smiling brightly. "I'm so proud of you, Monferno." He took all of his Pokeballs and tossed them out, to introduce his party to their new teammate. Cable was just as ecstatic as Kilik was, and Grovyle waved her leaf back and forth excitedly. Klink and Drifloon, on the other hand, seemed very disinterested in the whole thing and opted to float overhead together. "Ahhh," Kilik waved a hand dismissively, "They'll appreciate it eventually." He recalled all but Klink, allowing the gear to enjoy a bit of freedom. Being a...baby and all, he needed his exercise. "Say!" Kilik glanced down at his Monferno, "Let's go back to the Pokemon Center and heal up. Then, we'll call Katie and show you off!" And with that, Kilik dashed quickly out of the Oreburgh Mines, with Klink floating by his head and Monferno running at his heels.

Ken watched with arms crossed, how was Jae going to counter this one? Perhaps a psychic move or something similar to cancel it out. Maybe he would upright dodge. Or take the hit and try and counter while confused. For all Ken knew this pokemon could have an ability like Own Tempo that prevented confusion. There was no way to truly guess, and he smiled at the chance to find out. The man I'm the trench coat was pleasantly surprised however by what actually happened, Jae called for a Tailwind and as the Sigilyph narrowly avoided the Confusion Ray Ken was only pleased. "Boosting yourself and then dodging. Very risky, I love it! Heeheeheehee they're getting frisky! Let's see you dodge this one, Psybeam, darling!" Ken gave another twirling command as Mismagius complied. She cried out eerily as her gems glowed brightly, firing a strange pulsating purple wave at her flying foe.

The disguised Zorua let out a giggle, dancing back as her opponent crashed to the ground, but the previous Charm had taken more than the edge off. Regardless, the fox was having fun, and Jasper couldn't blame her. Ben's next command was for a Thunder Wave, and while the jolt of electricity would be weak, that fact didn't make it any less dangerous. "Blast it outta the sky with Extrasensory," Jasper called quickly. Charm wouldn't have affected this move. The mouse had jumped up high in order to get a better angle on what it and its trainer still believed to be Croconaw, so both Jasper and the fox were hoping for an easy target as it would be difficult to dodge in midair. Zorua reacted to the command quickly, eyes narrowed as she sent another concentrated burst of psychic energy, aiming to intercept the airborne Pichu. The weak electrical charge, meanwhile, arched down and unfettered, struck the dark type, causing her to wince slightly. She'd been expecting the shock to hurt, but instead an odd, tingling sensation had swept through her entire body and she couldn't seem to shake it off.

'Hang on just a little longer,' Riza thought as the Dragonair sped through the sky. The scenery blurred below them but the raven haired girl didn't so much as even look at it. Faustus remained calm and focused, keeping his movements to a minimum so as not to drop his passengers. The flight, while actually relatively fast, felt like hours and hours to Riza and even as Celadon City came into view, they couldn't get there fast enough. Using the map app on her phone she was able to pinpoint the Celadon hospital and Riza was able to direct the dragon's descent.

Faustus carefully touched down in the ambulance bay, startling the hell out of an orderly who just so happened to be outside taking his smoke break. "Hey, you can't park your uh...Dragonair there!" he shouted. "This is for ambulances and emergencies!"

Despite Riza's protests, Crenu got himself down off the dragon's back, but he wasn't able to remain on his feet for long and had quickly collapsed to his knees. "This is an emergency!" the dark haired girl screamed at the orderly. "Don't just stand there like an idiot! We need a doctor! Go get help!" The orderly blinked a few times before nodding, dropping his cigarette as he turned and ran in through the hospital doors.

Riza dropped to her knees beside Shiro, trying hard to keep her emotions in check. "We're here now, help is coming, Shiro. Stay with me, you got that?" she said, also trying to keep him from attempting to get up again. "The doctors are coming, they're going to help you, okay? Stay with me, Shiro! Don't you dare die on me! I'll kick your a** if you so much as think of going toward the light! Shiro! I mean it!"

As the boy lost consciousness, people in medical scrubs swarmed out of the hospital, nearly pushing Riza to the side as they loaded him onto a gurney. Some of them were asking Riza questions but all she could really give them was his name and age, and some of the other factors like the bite injury he'd sustained nearly a week ago. A mixture of fear and worry and a little bit of relief settled in as they wheeled Crenu in, and after Riza had recalled her Dragonair into his poke ball a nurse ushered her inside as well, leading her to a waiting room of sorts as she continued to grill the girl with questions.

"Fight back with another Powder Snow!" Autumn called, her hands balled into fists. She knew her Smoochum could not be hit with another Shadow Ball without being knocked out. Carolyn's little cheeks puffed out again and she expelled another snowy gust, covering the Solosis in even more icy crystals.

Katie narrowed her eyes. Being hit with all that snow could be dangerous. "Darla, shake it off and use Shadow Ball! We can end this!" Darla gave a weak cry, finding it harder and harder to move her body as the liquid inside was beginning to freeze.

The Solosis was just able to form the dark sphere and hurl it forward, but her aim was too high and wide and it sailed well over the head of the Smoochum, and over Autumn's too. The Solosis then drifted to the ground, frozen solid. 'This is not good,' Katie thought with a sigh, though she did smirk at the thought of the Solosis literally "chilling out".

Psybeam, that was one of the moves that Jaeshan was hoping for Sigilyph to learn before they challenged the gym. This wouldn't be as easy to dodge as the Confuse Ray had been; the ball of light had been moving a lot slower. "Sigilyph, Calm Mind again!" Jae called quickly, and the Avianoid Pokemon fluttered his wings, body once again glowing as he calmed his mind and focused his thoughts, not flinching even as the Psychic-type attack slammed into his middle, causing him to drift back a little. Jaeshan smiled, nodding approvingly as he wondered if he should have Sigilyph use Calm Mind a few more times before giving that Stored Power move a try.

"You should be fine." Mike added. "Provided your little grass critter has had enough training. If you want to do some more training before, I'd be happy to help out." He thought for a moment and laughed to himself, he'd have to dig pretty deep into his team for a Pokemon that would incinerate the poor Snivy. Even Pumpkin would be a poor choice for a training partner. "Yeah. If I'm correct, Misty is the next gym after this, so both your Pikachu and...Snivvy?" Derp. "They'll both clean house on that one. Your poor Charmeleon won't see much advantage until Erika I'm afraid." That isn't to say using a Fire type against Surge was the worst idea. After all, he did use Napalm, then just a little Magby, against the 'Lightning American'.

Soon the trio had reached their rather quaint destination. Mike smirked at Kasiya's judging tone. "And I'll be the judge of that." he added, pointing at the 'NeverMelt' part of the sign and nudging her playfully. He pondered for a moment before ordering. "Well, time for a little experiment." he said, chuckling. "May I have a small coffee ice cream in a ceramic bowl and a metal utensil?" He flashed an apologetic smile. "Princess is very particular." He might as well label himself as a brat rather than try to explain his condition each time. "Oh, and I'll be paying for all three of them as well." Mike motioned behind him, and stuck his tongue out at the chubby mouse and preemptively waving off any objection Hayley might have had. When the three had received their orders, Mike walked over to a nearby table, plopping himself down in the seat that was least covered by the umbrella. The afternoon sun beat down on him, but all he could do was scoff. "That all you got?" Trying his best to hide his reservation, Mike took a cautious bite of the ice cream, which melted in his mouth with an softly audible sizzle. Well, it didn't hurt! At least, until he swallowed. Then both girls and the Raichu were gifted with the amusing sight of Mike's face as he ground his teeth against each other as he was dominated by a right powerful brain freeze, his lower jaw protruding quite comically. "That!" he sputtered, trying to play of the embarrassing expression with a laugh. "That," he coughed up a bit of smoke. "Smarts a little!"

Jaeshan's Sigilyph took the attack head on, mind hard at work as it continued to boost his abilities. Ken had to admit it was impressive that the odd pokemon was able to keep his focus through that attack, but it wasn't all that dazzling. "Hmm Calm Mind is a great boosting move. But you can't just do that forever you know. Eventually you're pokemon will have to strike back. You'll get hit by a status move eventually and that can really throw a wrench in all your boosting. Thunder Wave!" Mismagius nodded as she floated herself closer to the Avianoid pokemon. She donned a fierce look in her eyes as her gems glowed yellow, blasting forth a wave of intense electrical energy.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Crenu lay there helplessly as Riza cried out to him and hospital employees hoisted him up and rolled him away. Orders were given out, interns scrambled to do their job. Medical jargon was written down as quickly as it was spewed, tests were run as Crenu was carted down the halls to treatment. His shirt was opened up as his pulse was taken, his blood soaked bandages were cut away as nurses hurried to swab away the blood and start cleaning the wounds. Bags of O negative blood were hung up and injected into his system as they determined his blood type, and the doors shut behind the group as Crenu was taken to the treatment area where the rest of his clothes were taken and bagged and replaced with a hospital gown.

It was about half an hour later when Crenu's main doctor strolled into the waiting room. An older dark haired gentleman with a gentle face, studying his clip board as he walked up to the raven haired girl who had arrived with his patient. "Hello. I am Dr. Wayne, your friend Shiro is under my care. He came in with severe blood loss, several lacerations, and some pretty bad second degree burns. Some already stitched up, but not very well. He is stable now and resting, you can see him if you'd like." Dr. Wayne lead Riza through the halls towards Crenu's room, watching her and his chart at the same time. "Now I know you were already asked this, but what happened? Anything at all can help us. Is there anything you haven't told us? You're not in trouble here, we just want to treat him." He had stopped just outside of Crenu's room. Inside lay Crenu, fresh bandages over his wounds, hooked up to an IV. His items in the corner of the room, the boy slept appearing peaceful."Think about it. I'll be back to check on him in a bit." He left her and kept down the hall to check on another patient.

Riza sat in the waiting room, vaguely aware of the two other people that were in there with her. One was a young man, probably in his mid twenties and the other an older woman. At one point when she looked up, she caught sight of the silvery blue haired lady staring at her, and she frowned, resisting the urge to demand just what the woman was staring at. She looked down at her hands, a little startled to see that they were spotted with dried blood. A closer inspection revealed she'd also gotten some on the white bow that decorated the front of her tank top. A mild panic had settled in and she practically jumped to her feet, seeking out a restroom where she washed up. Normally she would have fretted over her messy hair and ruined makeup, but all she did to remedy it was pull the long, jet black locks into an untidy ponytail and wipe the streaks of black from her cheeks.

She returned to the waiting room to find that the older woman was gone, leaving her alone with the guy. Fortunately he didn't even seem to notice Riza and that was just fine with her. It wasn't much longer before another figure entered the room, and Riza looked up when she realized he'd walked up to her. He introduced himself as Shiro's doctor and Riza jumped to her feet, only able to nod meekly as he mentioned that she could see Shiro. As they walked, Dr. Wayne asked the same questions Riza had already answered before, but she answered just the same, trying hard to recall every detail she could. "Thank you, doctor," she said quietly, waiting until the man in the white coat had left before she walked quietly over to Shiro's bedside.

"Oh Shiro," she said quietly, pulling a chair over so she could sit beside him, and she carefully laid a hand over one of his. The doctor had mentioned the lacerations and burns, but she'd only known about a few of those. He looked peaceful and calm, which was quite a difference from what she'd seen of him before. "What did you do to yourself?"

While Katie chortled at her own frozen Solosisicle, Autumn saw a golden opportunity. With Darla frozen solid, she was helpless. "Carolyn, now's your chance! Hit it with a Pound attack!" The Smoochum didn't need to be told twice, running forward and slamming her tiny hands into the frozen psychic-type.

There wasn't a lot Katie could do, but she called out for a Shadow Ball anyway. Naturally the frozen Pokemon couldn't do anything, and Katie frowned. The Smoochum smacked Darla again, and the orange haired girl gave a sigh. She didn't want her little ball of psychic rage take any more damage. "Okay, okay, Carolyn wins this round," Katie said, holding up the Solosis' poke ball and recalling her. "Your Smoochum's pretty tough," she added, now holding up a second sphere.

Autumn gave a relieved sigh as Carolyn was declared the winner, and after letting the little psychic/ice-type celebrate a bit she too was recalled. "Thanks, though she isn't always that...intense. Your Solosis definitely got her all riled up." The milk maid also held up a second sphere. "Wanna make this next round a double battle?" she asked. "My Pokemon need practice in working together."

"Sure thing," Katie nodded, now taking Miles' poke ball in her hand. "I love a good double battle!" She tossed out both spheres, revealing the aforementioned Floatzel and Nell the Buneary. Autumn smiled widely, releasing her own two Pokemon, a cute pink Clefairy and a bigger pink Pokemon. It took Katie a moment or two to realize it was a Miltank.

Hayley smiled broadly at the kind words she was receiving from Kasiya and Mike. She was well aware of her type advantage, yes, but that didn't really mean anything. She chuckled a little at the mention of Misty; she hadn't even begun to think about the next gym. Right now, she was a little more concerned with defeating Brock, or at the very least, not making a fool out of herself. "Thank you both," she said, nodding earnestly. "I'm sure we'll be... all right." Perhaps Kasiya was right - winning a gym battle would be a rather confidence-inspiring way to end her losing streak.

"Best ice cream in Kanto," the brunette read, glancing at her two companions as they seemed to be interested in judging things. Feeling like jumping on the proverbial bandwagon, Hayley grinned cheekily. "I bet it's not better than my Nana's homemade ice cream." Regardless, ice cream was ice cream, and Hayley wanted something loaded with chocolate and whipped cream. She gave her thanks again as Mike acted the part of the gentleman, offering to pay for all of their orders. Kaylee, still riding happily atop her trainer's head, didn't seem to have much of an opinion, but she intended to make Hayley share hers. "I would like a banana split, with extra chocolate sauce and whipped cream, please?"

Once their orders had been fulfilled, they found a table to sit at. Hayley, eyes comically wide at the size of the sundae Kasiya had ordered, had only just set her banana split down when Kaylee hopped onto the table, little yellow paw snaking out as she snatched the cherry that had been nestled atop the crown of whipped cream. "Hey!" Hayley objected, but the Pikachu had already stuffed the cherry into her mouth, stem and all. "Manners, please!" the brunette scoffed, quickly recalling the bratty electric type into her Pokeball. "No more for you!" Now that she no longer had to share with entitled yellow rodents, Hayley started in on her banana split, moaning with absolute pleasure with the first bite. "Okay I dunno about the best but, it's definitely, definitely very good," she said, giving Mike a very curious look at his reaction to his ice cream. "Brain freeze?" she inquired with a giggle.
