She JUST grew into a kid and already Anisia wanted to go and show everyone at the mansion. It couldn't have been at least an hour yet! Kiita gave a small chuckle to herself. Well, her baby was growing, and she couldn't prevent that. She leaned back on the couch in one of the living rooms, a small smile crossing her lips. "Just don't get lost!" The protector called to the cinnamon girl.

"I wooon't!" Ani called back over her shoulder, finally convincing Kiita to let her wander around Aylee's estate. It was big. Real big. But she was bigger now too! She looked left and right for any sign of someone. Anyone! Flitch, Yuki, Aard...anyone that might be here. She doubted anyone would be outside...it was pretty chilly. Fall definitely made it clear it had come.

Where to start looking for others? That was the only problem with the mansion. It was so big, you couldn't tell if someone else was around! Ani began to roam the floor's halls, hoping this place wasn't as deserted as it sounded.

Banda's house was boring.

Granted, it was much nice than the House in that he didn't have to deal with SO many family members, but it was so...quiet. And a lot smaller. A whoooole lot smaller. That was to be expected, though, as Banda was the one living there, and didn't have much money to his name. It had it's perks and its downfalls. But only after living away from home for a bit did Lyrus realize just how much he depending on his 'brothers' for company.

Haha, screw them.

And off to the mansion it was! For the best of company was certainly not to be found with Jax, but with his own kind. And maybe, just maybe, Kilah or Mignon or Mae or someone would be around, and the day would get that much better.

No such luck. The yard was empty when he arrived so, after waiting for a short while, he decided to brave the indoors once more and started inside to look around. Out of habit, one hand flipped his knife open and shut, open and shut, over and over again while he 'searched'. "Oiiii, anyone around?"

The unexpected call made Anisia give a small, startled jump. She turned around and looked, "I am!" She call back as she turned back toward where she came from and began to walk. The boy's voice didn't sound like anyone she could recognize. This made her curiousity heighten a little more as Ani continued her search for the unfamiliar boy. "Where are you?"

Ahha, success! Someone was here after all! Even if he couldn't quite place who that someone was. Following the voice down the hall, he turned a corner and nearly ran into Anisia. "I'm right--Oh. Hi." Blinking, he took a small step back and offered a faint grin in greeting.

Remembering his manners, he held out a hand, but paused when he realized he was still holding the knife and, quickly flipping it closed, pocketed it instead. "Sorry about that. Don't think I've met you before. I'm Lyrus." Nope, he hadn't met this one before. He would have remembered--she had three eyes. It wasn't something you would forget. Not that it was a bad thing.

"Oh sorr-" Anisia took a step back as well after running into -well almost running into- the one she was seeking out. She gave the boy a friendly smile, but it began to fade a little once she saw the knife. In truth, it disturbed her some. What had he been using it for? Why would he be keep a knife with him?

After a minute of pausing, she realized she was just staring and regained herself. "Oh, I'm Anisia. But people call me Ani." The cinnamon girl finally replied with another smile. "Its nice to meet you, Lyrus." Anisia added.

"Nice to meet you, too," he replied with a nod. And mentally kicked himself. Why on earth was he being so nice? Was he really so starved for company that he would treat this new girl all happy cheery at first meeting!? Or maybe it had something to do with the fact that his two best friends in the world were girls, and the other girls he had met thus far had been pretty cool too.

Most of the guys were dumbasses.

However, his smile faded slightly when he caught the look she gave his knife. Ahh, this was a wussy one. Pity. Brushing it off, he withdrew his hand from his pocket and folded his arms across his chest, quirking a brow at cinnamon girl. "It's weird. Usually I've at least heard of a Sin when I meet them, but you'd a kid already and I've never heard of you before. Do you know Akilah or Mignon? Or Maelon?" Not that he and Mae had really discussed friendships or anything, but still.

"We were traveling for a while." Anisia explained, "We just got back a few days ago." And she had no words to describe how great it felt to be back here with the rest of the Sin'aeis. She was back and meeting new people again.

And speaking of people, Ani could recall Yukito mentioning Kilah's and Mignon's names...though he said something like she should only really meet Mignon. "I've heard of them. And I think I've met Maelon before...it wasn't for too long though. They your friends? Are they here?" She asked with a smile.

"That explains it." And it did. Who knew how long she had been gone. It was perfectly reasonable for him to..never have heard of her. Especially since she didn't seem to know any of his friend. "Well, welcome back, then." Or something. Lyrus had never been on a long trip before. Many of his family members had, including Banda, but he himself hadn't gone anywhere for more than a day at a time, and those trips were usually just nearby anyway.

Brightening up somewhat, he nodded. "Yeah, they're pretty cool. But they're not here today, I think. I'd actually come looking for them, but..." He shrugged, then added, "Not that it's not good to meet someone else, I guess. Who're your friends, if you don't know those three?" Granted, there were many other Sins that Lyrus wasn't as close too, or just hadn't seen in a while. Maybe she knew some of them.

Anisia smiled, "Thanks. Its really good to be back. I don't like traveling...I'd rather stay in one place...at least for a while, anyway." Then she gave a small smirk, "Always good to get the extra attention from Kiita though. She usually feels so guilty when we get back from places...it takes her a while to get over it."

She began to walk a few steps and motioned for him to follow, "Lets walk. I haven't been around the whole mansion and wanna see the rest of it." She said before answering his next question.

"My friends are Yukito, Aard, Flitch, Ciaran...I don't know too many other Sin. That, I can blame on the traveling we do, which is why Kiita always feels bad." Anisia began to peek into a few doors they passed, wondering if theres anything interesting in this place.

Lyrus graced her with a dry laugh, shrugging idly. "My guardians'll sometimes suck up when they first get back. Bring me a present or some crap like that. But they forget about me pretty quickly after that." Again he shrugged, slipping his hands into his pockets. "But now I live with my older 'brother' instead, so I don't need to worry about that anymore. And he's a complete suck up." He flashed a toothy grin.

With a nod, he started off at her side, walking 'boredly' to inspect the mansion. Actually, he was pretty curious as well. He hadn't seen most of it. The better partof his time here was sent outside. But she didn't have to know that. "I know Yukito," he piped up, grin returning. "But I haven't seen him in a while. He's pretty cool. He fixed my hand for me when this fox thing bit it. I know Aard too," he added thoughtfully, pausing. After a moment, he laughed softly, smirking. "He's a loser."

Anisia also laughed a little, "Well, thats good that you live with him now. Kiita just can't seem to let go of her guilt for some reason. But I'm not complaining." She said with a grin. "Most of my siblings are younger than me...well, two of my older ones aren't even over a foot tall. Then I have another who's never around the house. Other than that, they're younger."

"I like Yukito. He's really nice. I talked to him a few weeks ago." She smiled. "Hey!" Ani said with a laugh, "Aard isn't a loser!" She really didn't think he was. He was one of her good friends, but she did find his comment funny. The girl wasn't going to force him to change his opinion...not like she would be able to anyway. "I've known him as long as I've known Yuki. How come you don't like him?" She asked curiously, looking over her shoulder at him then closing the door and continuing to walk. If he didn't like him, he must have a reason not to.

"Most of mine are older... Lots older. I'm an uncle a few times over already." Looking thoughtful, he withdrew one hand from his pocket and idly counted out on his fingers how many nieces and nephews he had. But ran out of fingers and lost count. How many shorties was Isto on now? And didn't Jack have a new daughter or something? Grimacing faintly, he let his hand fall. "I think I'm technically the youngest, according to when Moo adopted each of us, but I have a few siblings who seem younger than me."

"I haven't seen Yuki since before I grew," he continued after a beat, then grinned. "Wonder how he'd take it. And he is too." Laughing, Lyrus picked up the pace and withdrew his other hand from his pocket, the knife again clasped in it. While he spoke, he flipped it open and closed, open and closed. Habit. "Aard's a complete wuss. I managed to scare the crap out of him while I was still a toddler just by telling him I'd put glass in peoples' food. And he stutters, and he's...Well, he's just a loser."

"An uncle already? You can't even be a year old yet!" Anisia said. "Looking at how the oldest of the family is acting, I don't think I'll be having any nieces or nephews soon. And the other really small ones I mentioned earlier...their breeder of sorts, like Chaco, isn't around anymore. And their kind don't seem to pop up anymore either." She rambled. "So no more new additions unless Kiita decides to take in yet another sort of pet or kid. Which is really likely. I can't see WHY she would want to take in so many though."

A small frown crossed her lips momentarily before she made it go away. She didn't like how he kept calling Aard a loser, but she wouldn't say something that'd make them get into an arguement. After all, Lyrus seemed like someone she'd enjoy hanging out with...so far, anyway. And if Yukito liked him, he must be a good Sin. "I'd be scared too. Its not something people like to hear from others, you know." She wasn't now though. She had the feeling he wouldn't do that...unless he somehow magically appeared into their house one morning.

Anisia glanced at the knife for a moment, but it didn't really bother her anymore. If anything, it just made her wonder. "Why do you carry that knife around?" She finally asked.

"My birthday's in February," he replied with a grin. "But they're much older than me, as I said. I mean, the big brother I live with is more like my guardian than my real one. He raised me, not Moo." Stupid Moo. She probably still thought she was a princess or some crap like that. "We have a huge family... It's really irritating. I'm glad I don't live with them anymore." Some of the time. Until the quiet set in.

If he caught her frown, he didn't comment. These were his opinions and, even if she disagreed, he wasn't going to change them. In his book, Aard was a complete loser. Of course, Ani seemed really nice... In that she wouldn't beat another with a baton for being jealous, for example. A different sort of friend than Mignon and Kilah were. He could see someone like her getting along with Aard...maybe. "I haven't really done that," he admitted slowly. "I only said it to scare. I've thought about it, but I wouldn't really feed anyone glass."

With the acception of maybe Jaxom. And Momoro. And Lex.

"Knife?" He blinked, then glanced to his hand, only then realizing he was actually holding the weapon. Shrugging, he went back to snapping it open and shut. "Habit, I guess. When I was younger, I really wanted some kind of weapon, 'cause all I had was these glass roses that I made. And then Kilah gave me a dagged, but it's really irritating to carry around. So when I got this knife for my child quest, I took to carrying it around instead. Never know when you might need one."

"Mine's January 15th! I'll be sure to drop something by for you when it comes up!" She said with a cheery smile. "I'm not sure if I'm doing anything big for my birthday...honestly, Kiita has missed quite a few of the others' birthdays, so I'm not even sure she'll remember." Anisia could only give a small shrug, then let the topic of family drop.

"Thats good to hear." She said, with a nod. "I really don't think I could intentionally hurt someone. Unless I was like, blinded by anger or something. I don't get angry easily though." Another topic came to her head, "Speaking of scaring, are you trick-or-treating this Halloween?" She asked.

"That's true. I guess it could be handy in some cases." Like if you were camping or something. She wouldn't understand carrying it around in places like the mansion though. Her life was just full of flowers and good things. She never had to worry about having enemies or something. If Lyrus had enemies anyway...would Aard count as one? Probably.

"You used to make glass roses? They must be beautiful!" Ani's brown eyes seemed to shine a little more, "Thats what most of my quests had to do with. Flowers. I'd like to see one of your roses sometime!"

"February 17th. You're older than me," he laughed, snapping his knife closed. Replacing it in his pocket, he continued, "I'll be sure to get you something, too. I.. don't know if I'm gonna do anything. It's still a while away, and I guess it depends on stuff closer to then. Moo had a big party for my sister when she turned one, but I don't live with Moo anymore, and she doesn't remember me, so I doubt that'll happen. Maybe Banda'll surprise me, though," he finished, looking hopeful. One could never know.

"You and Kilah might not get along so well." He flashed a toothy grin, chuckling. "Not that she just lashes out without cause, but she'll beat the snot out of people if they bug her. At all. Or acts like she will." For a moment he paused, then, rolling his eyes, he coninued, "She's all talk, for the most part, but very believeable. And then it's usually me and Mignon who actually fight back." Jaxom's broken wrist, for example.

"I think I am," he answered with a nod. "But I don't know what I'm gonna go as yet. We went to the costume store, but I didn't like anything there, so me an' Banda are going to make my costume. I just haven't decided what to do yet. What about you?"

And then the roses. Lyrus' pride and joy. His grin softened to a proud smile, and he nodded, 'designing' one with his hands while he described it. "I still make them, and they're getting better. At first they were just shards or glass hooked together in a sort of vague flower...but now I'm getting better at actually shaping the glass an' such, and they're really nice. See, I have these glass discs, and I break them and reshape the shards into petals , and usually just hook some of the thinner pieces back together for the stem and... I'd be happy to show you!" Finally, someone appreciated them!

"Not by much though! Just about a month. And I just grew today...how long have you been a kid for?" Anisia asked with a small smile on her face. "And don't worry! If Banda doesn't, I will!" She said with a laugh. "It'll have lots of confetti and sweets! Like cookies! I hope you like cookies. I think my friend Flitch is crazy for not liking them!" She added randomly. "Oh, and what would you like for your birthday? I don't want to get you something you wouldn't like..."

"Well, maybe we would? I don't know. I'll be sure not to er...bother...Kilah if I ever do meet her. Yukito told me how I'd probably like Mignon though." This Kilah person didn't seem like someone she was all too excited to meet. She wasn't sure how she could handle the situation...nobody's ever really been mean to her before.

"Oh definitely! I love anything sweet. And the more candy, the better!" Anisia said with a chuckle. "I've decided to go as a genie. Nothing terribly crazy or original, but I'm sure I'm going to have fun." She said with a nod.

"Oh wow. They sound so pretty. I can't wait to see them!" Flowers were such beautiful things to her...which is why she kept all of hers from her previous quests. Ani gave Lyrus a smile. She could see the proudness in his own.

Then the next door caught her eye. For some reason, she felt the need to open it and see what was inside. She walked toward it and peeked inside to find

...the Jungle Plant Room.

"Just today?" He blinked, then quirked a brow. "Really? I guess it's been about a month or so since I grew. Wish I'd known you sooner," he added after a moment. "I always thought I was broken 'cause Kilah and Mignon grew so long before me. Would've been nice to know I wasn't the only slow grower."

Briefly he fell silent, looking thoughtful, then blinked and grinned, snapping back to the discussion. "Thanks a lot! And yeah, I do like cookies. Have you ever had cookie cake? It's much better than regular cake." Even if Banda didn't agree. But Banda was weird. "Um... I dunno. I guess I'd like just about anything. I like glass stuff, though. And knives." And shinies in general. Lovely fancy decorative expensive things...mmm.... Anyway. "What would you like for yours?"

And another subject change. "I only heard about Halloween a few days back, so I still don't really get the whole thing," he admitted, probably something he wouldn't even have told Kilah. She was likely to make fun of him for it. Not that he would have minded much--it was Kilah, after all. "There's candy involved?" That definitely made it worth it! "I bet you'll make a good genie. Me an' Banda are gonna try and come up with a good costume this evening. He had to work today."

Without thought he followed her to to the door and, on a whim, pushed it open the rest of the way and stepped inside. And paused. What the heck was this place? All these weird plants...inside? He grinned. "Want to explore?"

"Isn't that weird? I'm older but growing slower." Anisia gave a little more thought about the aging process. "I wish I would've met you sooner too." She could understand him thinking he was broken. She had thought the same. "I used to think that too. Aard and I are the same age, and he grew way before me. I always felt a little left behind since most of my friends were taller and I guess you could say, 'older.'"

"No problem! It'd be fun. And I don't think I've tried a cookie cake before. I'll have to get Kiita to buy one...it sounds good!" Ani said with a laugh. "I like things every girl would like." She replied, then paused. She wasn't sure if Akilah and Mignon were girly like her...and Lyrus only seemed to talk about them...did he know what girly things she was talking about? "Uhm. Stuffed animals, real animals, flowers, jewelery, anything really." The girl added with a smile.

Anisia entered after the lamb boy and looked over his shoulder to look at the...whatever room this was. It looked like some sort of garden...a very twisted oen at that. "Sure!" She said, returning his grin. "You lead!" She added.

"Chaco told me everyone ages at their own pace," Lyrus replied reassuringly. "But I also knew you had to have another quest before you'd get the one that made you grow. And I got that quest, but, as far as could tell, nothing happened when I finished it. So I started thinking I had screwed up and broken myself when my child quest never came. But then I grew." And damn, had that been a relief. "I felt the same way. I've known Kilah and Mignon since we were babies, and they've always grown way before me.. It was just upsetting."

"You have to try cookie cake," he exclaimed, suddenly brightening. "It's -great-! We haven't gotten any for a while, though. Acia's birthday was the last time--she's my sister. I'll have to bug Banda about it." He paused. Things every girl would like. Yes, he was very glad Ani had specified. Otherwise he would've gotten her a baton or dagger or something. Or maybe jewelry. So he was close. "Good! I'm sure I'll find something you'll like."

'You lead.' Lyrus positively beamed. That was one of the worst things about being best friends with Kilah--She was mafia leader, he was second in command. And then at home, Jaxom was leader, Lyrus was....er...enemy? In any case, it was good for him to have a chance every so often. Nodding his agreement, he started into the room, not bothered with most of the plants, but pausing every so often as a particularly strange one caught his eye. "I've never seen half of these before."

"Oh, I didn't know how many quests you had to have before a growing quest." This was new information to Anisia. Was it the same number each time? Probably not. Guess she'd just have to find out when they came along. She didn't expect getting another quest anytime soon though, since she just finished one a few hours ago. Oh well.

"Thats what kind of cake I'll have to get you for your birthday then!" Ani decided, smiling to him. "Maybe me and Kiita can make you one, if we can get a recipe." Then again, Kiita wasn't the best cook out there...hm. Maybe it'd be better if they just bought one.

This girl was a follower. She couldn't picture herself leading in most cases. It was always easier just to go along with someone. As she walked alongside Lyrus, her eyes wandered about. Some of the plants...disturbed her a little. "I've never seen a lot of these plants before...they're really...wild." Ani commented, "Do you think anything else is in here?" Meaning some sort of rabid animal or something.

He shrugged. "I only knew 'cause of Mignon and Kilah. I don't know for any older yet." Though he had no doubt that Kilah and Mignon would grow before him. He didn't mind so much anymore, though. There were lots of people his age and younger, and now he knew he wasn't broken, -and- had friends who would be growing as slowly as he did. Life was good.

"We have to have it sometime before then, though," he decided with a nod. "Because you don't even know if you like it. But I'm sure you will. Everyone likes cookie cake." Except for Banda, as forementioned. But, also as before, Banda was weird. So he didn't count.

This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. "Some of them are pretty strange.... I dunno. It seems like the kind of place where an animal or something would live, but at the same time it doesn't...'cause it's inside." Lyrus was used to big fancy mansions--Moo had one. But jungles inside of said mansions were just unusual.

Catching a movement out of the corner of his eye, he quickly turned towards it, but frowned when all he found was a new plant--a strange variation of a venus flytrap, though he didn't know it. One of the traps had closed over something. ....He poked at it. "This one moved."

"I like any deserts! Cake or cookies, as long as its sweet." Anisia said with a small laugh. Her and her sweet tooth. Someone could probably buy their way into her heart with just chocolate alone. "And if you like it that much, it must be good!" She added with a nod. "Whenever you get your hands on another one, just gimme a call."

"I didn't expect to find a garden...if you could call it that...inside a mansion. They have one outside already." It was becoming clear she seemed a little nervous. And it only heightened when Lyrus pointed out one of the plants moved. "W-what? It moved?!" Ani began to play with her fingers uncertainly.

"Will do," he promised, grinning. However, his attention quickly returned to the little plant. He eyed the closed trap, then glanced to a nearby open one, marveling at the red center. And, on a whim, he poked it, snatching his hand back as the trap glided closed. "Did you see that!? The plant tried to bite me!"

Coolest. Thing. Ever.

Still marveling at the little plant, he resumed, "Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. How do the plants grow in here?" He wasn't really expecting a reply. It was certainly a strange place... Pulling his attention from the plant, he gestured for her to follow and set off exploring once more. There must be some other cool plants in here somwhere! Bigger ones.. The fly trap was neat, but too small to hold his attention for long.

"Whoa! Thats crazy!" Anisia said. Gaia had weird things, but she's never seen a plant move before! Let alone try to eat someone's finger! Though she had to admit, the trap did catch her interest. "...Its pretty cool though." She finally admitted after a pause. 'Cause it was. But she wasn't gonna touch it! No way!

"You don't think all the plants in here can move, do you?" She asked, as she passed a pile of vines while following the lamb boy. "Do you think there are bigger ones like that one you were poking earlier?" That wouldn't be good.

...

Who would keep a giant, kid-eating plant in their house anyway?!

"I dunno." He shrugged and, without really thinking, withdrew his knife from his pocket, casually flipping it open and shut. "I definitely saw that one move, but it just closed, I think. I doubt the plants themself can, like...more from place to place or anything." Of course, the trees in the Forest could. Lyrus wasn't allowed to go into the forest. Even Loony!Moo had warned him against it, and he took that seriously. Moo didn't remember much these days unless it was absolutely imperitive.

But, bigger ones... "There might be bigger ones. The little one tried to bite me.. It probably eats bugs or something. I don't think a bigger one could find anything to eat around here..." What would a bigger one eat, at that? He grimaced. Best not to think about that right now.

"Lets hope they can't really move from place to place." Anisia said, more to herself than to Lyrus. She felt funny in this place. She was probably being paranoid though...thinking she was being stalked. By what, a leaf? That's just silly. Though in place like this...she honestly wouldn't be too surprised.

"I don't think there'd be many bugs in here...maybe a few. Or maybe one of the gardeners comes in here and just...lets a bucket of bugs loose or something." The idea sounded gross to her. Picking up bugs from outside and bringing a thing full of them inside.

Anisia stopped to take a look at some pink flowers that seemed to quiver every now and then in unison.

Why would there be bugs? They were in a garden, after all... Only they weren't, Lyrus realized, snapping back to reality. They were inside of a building. Glancing around, Lyrus shot a glare to a bunch of purple flowers hanging from a vine, from which a sickly sweet smell issued. Blasted things mussing his thoughts. Brushing aside the vine, he continued through the plants, but paused as another flower caught his eye.

It was easily the most beautiful blossom he had ever seen: a deep, blood red shade, something of a large orchid, laced with dewdrops... Or what looked like dewdrops. Lyrus didn't bother to remember he was still inside and they couldn't be. The flower rose on a single thin stem from the floor, where a circle of short, velvety looking grass surrounded it, only adding to the flower's grace.

Lyrus wanted that flower.

Not for himself, of course... He could give to it Ani or something. Yeah, that'd work. Without bothering to think it through, he stepped over and onto the circle of grass, bending to reach for the flower. However, a slight shift in the floor made him pause, and he frowned, straightening up and taking a small step back. Or tried to. His feet were stuck fast to the 'grass'.

"Oh hell n--"

The trap fell shut.

How cute they were, the little quivering pink flowers. Ani began to wonder why there weren't plants like these outside of the room. She was beginning to feel tempted into picking one of them, but she decided otherwise and let her attention wander elsewhere. She glanced around to make sure she wasn't being separated from her newfound friend, only...she didn't see him.

"Lyr-?"

'Oh hell n-'

It took a minute too long for Anisia to realize what just happened. "LYRUUS!" She cried, running forward toward the giant plant that just ate her friend. "Nononono!!" She didn't know what to do! She began to panic. Mygodaplantateherfriendhe'sgonnadie!

Looking around, she spotted a stray branch that looked like she could lift. Rushing toward it, she picked it up and carried it to the giant plant again. Then she began to wack it, "Let.Go.Of.HIM!" She shouted at it. After giving it a few good wacks, she began to kick the base of it.

Unfortunately, she didn't know if she was hurting Lyrus in the process of beating it up.

Lyrus panicked. There was no way in hell that he was going to sit around and let this plant eat him! However, he quickly realized that squirming did no good--with the plant as it was, it just meant more stick-grass latching onto him, and put him in a very uncomfortable position inside of the plant. And it was getting tighter. He screamed.

But afterwards, he forced himself to calm down somewhat. He wasn't going to get out if he kept freaking like that. What to do, what to do, what to--OW. Someone was hitting him! And then he heard Ani, and his anger faded. He could deal with a few bruises if it meant getting out of here.

Only it didn't seem to be helping. Indeed, the plant was retaliating in its own way--tightening all the more in an effort to keep its meal. This wasn't going to work. It was tight, and dark, and close, and--DAMMIT, Lyrus did NOT like this one bit. Renewing his squirms only earned him a knick on the wrist from his knife, which he had managed to keep hold of. He yelped, cursed, blinked...and shifted his hand as well as he could to cut a short tear through the plant, shoving the knife through afterwards, along with as much of his hand as he could fit. It was a start, anyway.

Deep breath, and shout: "ANI, take the knife!"

She was panicking. Badly. To the point of tears. He can't die! He can't die! She kept thinking fiercely to herself. She wouldn't let this overgrown weed take her friend away! Ani tried her hardest to keep from sobbing and crying. She was so useless at a time like this. She needed to calm down and think. She couldn't concentrate if she was crying.

She could run and get someone. But it might be too late by the time she got back. He needs air and soon. Her beating only seemed to make it worse. Oh god, what is she supposed to DO?!

Anisia snapped to attention as soon as she heard him. She rushed over and grabbed the knife at its handle, "I'll get you out!" She called to him. She was shaking from fear though. It was hard for her.

How to use the knife? Cut a line down and let him slip through it? Keep stabbing the stupid thing until it lets loose? But she might hurt him. She couldn't bare it if she did that. Only she'd feel worse if he died.

Without another thought, Ani put the blade halfway into the plant and decided to slice down. Only halfway though, hopefully to avoid cutting Lyrus.

Had she heard him!? Yes! She had taken the knife, haha! And---wait. Wait.

.....He couldn't breathe. He couldn't BREATHE. Tugging his hand back in, Lyrus shifted as best he could to shove the plant away. But it didn't work. Again he screamed, only afterwards realizing that was about the stupidest thing he could do given the situation. The plant tightened.

He couldn't breathe. Hecouldn'tbreathehecouldn'tbreathehecouldn'tbreathehecouldn'tbreathehecouldn't-- LIGHT!

Lyrus almost cried in relief as a long cut appeared in the plant near his side. There was light now, and air...even if the plant was to tight for him to actually breathe right. But that was hope! Wrenching one arm free, he shoved it through the gap to hold it open, hand groping at the bottom of the cut as he tried to tear it further. Words escaped him from then on. Ani would have to figure out the rest on her own.

HIS ARM! Thank the heavens, his ARM! Anisia never thought she would ever be happier to see it! After cutting through the plant vertically, the cinnamon girl grabbed his hand with her free one to make sure he wouldn't get sucked back into it. He was going to get out if it was the last thing she did!

Then she began to cut the knife horizontally to make a big cross on that side of the plant. "If I cut you I'm sorry!" She apologized to him as she finished off. Ani dropped the knife and used both hands to cling to the one that was outside the plant. "Push away from the plant with your feet and toward the hole if you can!" She said to him. As her heart raced, she began to pull him away from the giant trap.

Lyrus wasn't exactly thinking straight. He felt all light headed, mind wandering around on things that really weren't all that important. Such as the fact that his mouth was wide open while he strived for air. But he didn't care about air anymore. Who needed air? No, he was busy chastising himself for looking like a fish out of water. Not that anyone could see him.

And then someone grabbed his hand, and he blinked, focusing on that person. Oh, it was Ani! He had almost forgotten about her. Nonetheless, his hand was like a vice on hers, and, though his mind was slow to analyze her orders, eventually they clicked and he reacted, using both legs and his other arm to shove himself free of the plant.

There was one agonizing moment where the plant held, but just as quickly it tore open, and Lyrus literally fell free, collapsing on the floor as his legs gave way beneath him. Air swept back to his lungs, and Lyrus breathed a sigh of relief, head spinning both from the narrow escape and the return of oxygen. A moment passed before Lyrus realized his eyes were close and opened them, searching briefly before locking his gaze on Ani. He grinned.

Anisia fell back onto the floor with a small thud as the plant suddenly tore open and finally Lyrus came falling out of it. Her first thought was the little pain she had where she fell, but then she saw him.

"OHMYGOD,LYRUUUS!"

She sat up and quickly hugged him tightly as if he might get eaten again. "I thought you were going to die I was so scared I might have cut you I didn't think you were going to get out I didn't know what to do..." A jumble of words came out of her mouth. "Are you okay are you hurt did I cut you with the knife?" She asked, again the words just pouring out.

That was a really scary experience for her. Realizing she was holding onto him a little too tightly she loosened and eventually let go, wiping away the few, unnoticed tears that had made their way down her cheek.

Lyrus automatically returned the embrace, but most of her words evaded him, mind wandering over what had just happened as if it hadn't quite understood the first time. Suddenly, he tensed. He had almost gotten eaten. Shock set it, and Lyrus realized he was shaking and near tears himself. He could feel a faint sting near his waist, and his wrist was still bleeding from where he had cut it earlier, but he didn't much care. He'd had worse.

A few deep breaths later, Lyrus straightened up and nodded slightly, releasing his deathgrip on the girl and gracing her with a warm, rather apologetic smile, voice shakey at best. "I'm alright, yeah, uh-" Pausing, he cleared his thought, then resumed somewhat more confidently, "Sorry about...that. And thanks. A lot." Somewhat awkward, but Lyrus wasn't used to thanking people for, well, anything. Let alone people who he had just met that day.

Anisia opened her mouth to reply, about to say 'Its no problem!' like she usually would in a normal conversation. But...that would probably be lying. Because it sort of had been a problem. She didn't need to say that now though. "Your welcome." She finally said, swallowing a little.

She returned his smile with her own, then stood up and held out her hand so she could help him to his feet. "Lets get out of here." She said with a last look at the plant that almost ate Lyrus. After this little event, she didn't feel the need to explore any further than they did.

Taking her head, he climbed to his feet, swaying slightly before his legs decided to hold. He nodded his agreement and, without releasing her hand, picked up his knife with his free one and started for the door at her side. Don't look back, don't look bad; Lyrus thought he might throw up if he looked back at what remained of the giant trap. Best not to think about that just yet.

Goddamnwherewasthatbloodydoorhewassickofplants.

And there it was. Once they were out of the room, Lyrus closed the door behind them and slumped back against it, sighing heavily. "Well, that was.. exciting."

Anisia gave him a weak smile as he held her hand and lead her outside of the room. She hoped they never came across this room again...without an experienced lion tamer and a big whip or something. That was a crazy way of getting to know someone. She certainly never thought that would happen!

"I don't know about you, but I don't think I'm going to be mentioning that to Kiita any time soon." Ani replied, leaning back against the door as well. "Who would keep something like that in their house anyway?!" She thought aloud and whether she noticed it or not, her tone of voice sounded a little angered. Lyrus could have died.

The girl paused, then looked toward his way, "How did you get trapped by it anyway?" She asked curiously.

"Banda'll ask." Lyrus didn't exactly look as if nothing had happened. Not only were there odd splotches of the velvety plant still stuck to his shirt here and there, but there was also a long tear across his shirt, as well as a shallow scrape beneath it. It wasn't enough to bother him unduly, but there would be no hiding it from his 'guardian'.

Moo would probably keep a plant like that in her house, Lyrus mused. He had always thought Aylee was a loon. Apparently she was worse than he thought if she was sinking to Moo's level. Pleased with her 'outburst', Lyrus settled down to let her rant, absently wiping blood off his wrist, then blinked and glanced back to her when the expected tirade vanished in favor of her question. Apparently he wasn't used to 'nice' girls.

He grimaced. Suddenly feeling foolish, he shrugged and returned his attention to the cut, muttering his reply just loud enough for her to hear. "There was a really nice flower. It was a trick, I guess. A lure. I went to pick it and the plant got me."

"Will you get into trouble?" She asked, lowering to sit on the floor and beginning to play with her skirt. If Kiita finds out, she surely wouldn't be able to go places by herself without supervision...more specific, Kiita's supervision. That wouldn't be fun.

For the first time, Anisia spotted the blood while he was wiping his wrist. All three of her eyes going wide, she automatically asked, "Did I do that?" Even without his answer, a feeling of guilt crept in.

A flower? They did all that...a flower? Ani caught herself before she almost gave him a strange look. She probably would have done the same if she saw one she really liked. Instead of giving him the look, she smiled amusedly, "So tell me about the really nice flower that we had to cut up a plant for." She said with a small chuckle.

"Nah." Lyrus actually laughed, shaking his head. "Banda'll get worried, be glad that I'm not dead, and shower me in presents because he'll blame all this on himself somehow. Stuff like this happens to me pretty often, anyway." He shrugged, the paused. "Well...I've never been attacked by a plant before, but you know what I mean. Fights and rescues and crud." It did happen pretty often, now that he thought about it. Never this drastic, of course.

"Hmm? Oh, no." Smiling reassuringly, he shook his head, letting his hand fall. "That was me. When I was still in the flower. Good thing, too, or I wouldn't have remembered my knife." He didn't even want to begin to think what might have happened in that situation.

Lyrus flushed. It wasn't his fault he...hadn't been paying attention! Oh come on, who would expect a giant plant to pop up and try to eat them? Really? "It was just a nice flower," he muttered evasively. He didn't much feel like going into detail and sounding even stupider.

"This is the first time something's happened like this to me." Anisia said, trying to recall if something...but failing. Yes, this really was her first time. And it scared her to death. "You must have a really exciting life then." Her life was full of siblings and deserts. She found this whole experience...well, something similar to interesting.

She could only sigh with relief when she was told she didn't cut him. "Oh, good...well, I'm not saying cutting yourself was good...well you know what I mean." She said.

Ani couldn't wipe the amused grin off her face and laugh a little. "Well, at least you have another idea for your next glass flower? Unless you only do roses..." She said, turning her head again to give him another smile.

"Eh, not really." He shrugged, chuckling softly and relaxing a bit. "I just have a good friend with a tendancy to get in trouble, and an older brother who I..er...fight with a lot. Ends up with some pretty strange situations. But day to day life isn't all that interesting." It was really dull, actually. Especially nowadays. "I know what you mean," he assured her, grinning.

A new glass flower... Huh, he hadn't thought of that. "I never done anything but roses," he admitted slowly, then smiled. "It'd be a challenge. Especially to do that flower. But I'm gonna make it." He grinned. "Something to remember today by."

Anisia wasn't going to point out that the flower he was going to make was something that would remind him of the day he almost got eaten...but if he was so distracted by it, it must have been a very pretty flower. "Something to remember the day we met!" She added with a smile. "I'm sure it'll turn out nicely, even though I didn't get to see it. And when you finish it, I can finally see this 'really nice flower.'"

The girl stood again and began to stretch her arms above her head a little. "So. Do you want to explore the mansion some more or are you going to call it a day?" She asked. If she were in his condition, she'd probably want to call it quits, but she didn't want to make it seem like she didn't want to spend any more time with him.

True, it would remind him that he had almost gotten eaten. But it was a pretty cool adventure...thing, when you thought about it. He hadn't died, after all, so it was alright, and would make for good stories later on. He didn't intend to keep the flower after he made it, anyway. He grinned. "I think you'll like it. I'll try to color it, too, so it'll be more realistic." Colored glass was always fun.

"Eh..." He hesitated. On one side, he was tired, and he REALLY wanted a shower. The bites and pieces of plant stuck to his clothes were a bit unnerving after all that. However, at the same time, he was having fun just talking with her, and didn't want to offend her or anything by heading home. They could always meet up again, he reasoned. Sooner or later. After he finished the flower. "I think I'm going to head home, actually... Banda'll be getting back soon, and I want to start on that flower before I forget what it looks like."

And then, you know, there was the risk that another room might hold some similar threat. No more giant plants for today, pleezkthanx.

"Show me as soooon as you get done!" Anisia said brightly, trying to lighten the mood a little after their little encounter. "Then you'll have to let me try some of that cookie cake!" She added with a smile.

"Sounds good." She completely understood why he wanted to head home. Who would want to walk through another door to only get almost-eaten again? Gods only know what other types of things Aylee would be keeping in this mansion of hers.

Unsure of how to say goodbye, she stood there for a minute silently. "So uhm, I guess I'll see you later." Ani said, then gave him a quick hug before beginning to walk back to the living room where Kiita would be waiting.

Laughing, he nodded his agreement. "Will do! And I'll bring cookie cake with it." A whole big thank you cookie cake. He'd make Banda go buy it as soon as he finished the flower! Neither of them could cook very well.

Lost in his planning, it wasn't until she hugged him that he snapped back to the present, quirking a brow as she started away. For a moment he remained where he stood, then, smiling awkward, he murmured a 'See you' of his own and started away, off for home again.

It was finished. Lyrus sat back with a sigh, critically eyeing his creation. The flower was simply amazing, identical in every aspect to the one that had lured him into the trap, right down to the dewy tears quivering on its petals. The orchid, if it could be called such, was of clouded glass, perfectly molded beneath Lyrus' hands and 'pens', whereas the stem and leaves were clear and of a much simpler design so as not to distract from the bloom.

It was magnificent.

He had spent the better part of the past two days working on it, breaking only for meals and sleep at Banda's insistance. But it had been well worth it. This blossom was easily his most amazing accomplishment to date, crafted with a skill far beyond anything he had expected of himself. He doubted he could ever duplicate it.

Rising to his feet, he retrieved the wooden 'pen' and leaned out over the statue, carefully inspecting it for any minor imperfections he might have missed. So involved was he in his task that he failed to notice the arrival of his 'guardian'.

"Lyrus, I--Oh.." Banda froze, awestruck, in the doorway, staring wide-eyed over at the boy and his creation.

Lyrus jumped with the unexpected greeting and dropped his pen on the table, wheeling around to face his older brother. Relaxing somewhat at Banda's expression, he cracked a grin and stepped aside, gesturing to the blossom. "I finished."

A moment passed in silence. Suddenly paranoid, Lyrus half turned back towards the flower, eyes searching it for any mishap. "It's good, right? I can start over, I guess. Or color it, or--"

"No, no..." Snappy back to his sense, Banda interrupted him and stepped over to the table. He smiled. "It's wonderful! I didn't know... Wow. No, don't color it. It's best this way."

Inwardly preening, Lyrus nodded his agreement and retrieved his pen. "That's what I thought, too. 'Cause the light catches it, see?" Stepping back to the window, he pulled open the blinds, lighting both the room and the flower, and earning himself another astonished gasp from Banda.

"Truely amazing," the SkullMonkey awarded him, stepped closer to admire the bloom. "Very well done, and so realistic... This is that flower that tricked you, you said? I can see why." Shaking his head in open amazement, he straightened up and hooked his thumbs in his pockets. "It's beautiful, Lyrus. Where're you going to put it?"

"I'm giving it away," came the calm reply, as if Lyrus was actually generous and spent this much time on every gift he gave, few as they were. "It's for Anisia."

Banda quirked a brow. "Anisia," he repeated, glancing from the flower to Lyrus and back. Then, shaking his head slightly, but nonetheless smiling, he fixed his eyes on the lamb Sin. "And what's the occasion?"

Lyrus shrugged. "She kept the plant from eating me." Offering no further explanation, he carefully picked up the plant and headed out of the room. "I'munna bring it to her now. Bye."

The SkullMonkey just shook his head, watching him go and looking more than a little confused. Oh well...maybe he would explain when he got home.

So, I went to the mansion again a couple days back. Met this girl named Anisia. Uh.

She was the only one there, so we talked and stuff. Decided to explore the place.

Aylee's mansion if weird. It's got all sorts of freaky s**t in there. For example, we found this one room that said 'Jungle Plants' and decided to look in there.

It was kinda cool at first. All sorts of weird plants that I've never seen before. Flowers and spikey leaves and bug eating things. Kilah would've hated it. Her and flowers don't mix, you know? But I thought it was cool. Ani and I looked around for a while, found some neat stuff.

And then I saw this one plant, right? It looked.. Well, it's hard to explain. Sorta orchidy, I guess, and all red and stuff. It was just amazing. So, without thinking, I went to pick it.

Stupid of me, right? But if you'd have seen this plant, you'd have done the same.

Anyway, I hadn't even touched it when the 'ground' snapped up and trapped me. Turns out it was this giant venus flytrap sorta thing. So I was stuck and couldn't breathe, and Ani was freaking out and trying to get me free. I finally managed to get my knife out to her, and she cut me out the rest of the way, but it was close.

Real exciting, though.

So Ani saved me, I guess, and we decided to stop exploring. She wanted to know what the flower that lured me looked like, so I told her I'd make one out of glass for her. And I've been doing that since, mostly.

It came out real good. Better than anything else I've done, I guess. Banda really liked it and seemed surprised when I said I was giving it away. I can give stuff away! Damn, he acts like I'm greedy or something.

I'm not greedy, I just like my stuff.

It's a good thing.

So I brought it to her house, but I haven't seen her since and don't know if she likes it or anything. I hope she does. A lot.

But don't tell Banda, 'cause he's been looking at me funny anyway.

"I didn't do it!"

"I didn't do it!"

"I didn't do it!"

How many times had she repeated that, and to how many people? She didn't care to count. And, sure, she did do it, but it obviously wasn't her fault! One of those brat sisters (or maybe Kotoki) had done something to her spell to mess it up--she wasn't to blame.

It was a relief to get away from her family. Even if she did have to wear that stupid teal outfit like Noyama's and hang out with that group of stupid girls from her island who were visiting and who all wore the same thing and pretty much looked and sounded exactly the same in the stupid mall's "food court" place.

"I think he said something about you!" One of the four purple-haired girls giggled. They all spoke English, but the island language was easier for them. Besides, it was more fun. You could talk about people, and they wouldn't even know what you were saying! Giggle.

Despite being 12 in reality, Kilah easily passed as a teenager and didn't mind playing as one so long as this group of babbling morons kept buying her stuff. The girl who was being spoken to made a face and nudged the other playfully, sticking her tougne out.

"So Kilah, did you think about getting a tan?" One asked suddenly. "Your skin is really pale."

"Is it?" Kilah yawned, spinning the straw in her milkshake around. "I hadn't noticed..." Morons. At least they had money...

Malls were stupid. Malls were stupid and boring and didn't have any of the interesting stuff like at the weird little foreign stores they usually visited. Why Banda had chosen to drag him to the mall, Lyrus would never know. They certainly didn't need anything, and it wasn't the sort of place Banda would normally want to go--especially since they had taken Venoch with them. But here they were.

Scowling, Lyrus shot a glare up ahead at his 'brother' and the demon curled up on his shoulders. Blasted noisy malls. He couldn't even play with his knife--Banda had made him leave it home. His KNIFE. Lyrus never left his knife anywhere! It was making him nervous, jumpy. Around each corner could be someone waiting to attack and slit his neck, and he wouldn't be able to do a thing about it because his bloody knife was at the bloody apartment!

Lyrus hated the mall.

Sighing heavily, and forgetting Banda couldn't hear, Lyrus let his gaze wander the area. Boring clothes store, some video game place, shoes, more clothes, food court... Kilah? He blinked. The mall was certainly not the kind of place he'd have expected her to be around. ...Oh well. "Oi, Kilah! S'that you?"

"That's Jaxom, isn't it?" One of them accused immediatly. Kilah snorted. It probably shouldn't have amused her, but for a reason even she didn't know it did.

"That'd be Lyrus," she answered in English, leaning back in her chair and waving in no particular direction. "Hey, Lyrus!" Kilah called across the many tables, chairs and people to him. It sucked they wouldn't let Gizmo in here.

Not that she needed him with at least one of these girls dragging her around by the arm. They were like eye dogs themselves, except they talked and giggled and gawked at every boy and stuff like that.

Maybe throwing a few babies in the volcano hadn't been such a bad idea after all. It would help weed out the stupid ones like these.

Thankfully, Lyrus wasn't near enough to catch the other girl's words. Even in another language, Jaxom was Jaxom, and had he heard that name, he likely would have just followed after Banda after all.

As it was, he returned the wave, ignoring the fact that Kilah couldn't see, and, leaving the oblivious Banda, hurried over to the table and pulled up a chair for himself, sinking down between two of the girls and otherwise ignoring them. "Never thought I'd see you at the mall. Not that I'm ever here myself... Banda's looking for something. How've you been?"

"Actually, I come here a lot," Kilah admitted with a chuckle. "My friend Morty pierced my nose here once. It fell out, but Lucky won't let me do it again until I'm older." That's why she was here so much. Trying to sweet talk the owner of that lovely shop with all those earrings to do it for her anyway. He never agreed, and even when she told him her "mother" couldn't write and therefore couldn't provide permission he wasn't swayed in the slightest.

One of the two girls beside Lyrus glared lightly. "He's rude."

"I think he's kinda cute," the one on the left said jokingly. The other three 'ew'ed in unison.

"He's like ten! Gross!"

"I meant cute in the little kid way!" The other teenager defended. It was interesting when you thought about it. They didn't look much older than Noyama and Noharu, but acted so much different. That island really was changing, apparently.

"I've been better," Kilah answered, ignoring the other females. "Our house burned down." And it so totally wasn't her fault. "What about you?"

"I see..." Nose piercing? He could vaguely remember her mentioning that before, but didn't care enough to dwell on it. He would never get one, anyway. Maybe a regular earring or something, 'cause they were shiny and neat and it'd look cool with his horn, but not in his nose. That was kind of gross when you thought about it.

There was a brief pause while Lyrus glanced around at the girls, actually acknowledging their presence, but more out of annoyance that they were saying things he couldn't understand than any desire to talk with them. Once they had stopped ewing, he returned his attention to Kilah, grimacing. "Your house burnt down? Where're you living now, then?"

"I'm staying with Banda now," he chirped smugly, reclining back in his chair. "So things're good. Finally got away from Moo and Jax and crap." He paused, expression darkening somewhat, a shrugged. "I heard Jaxom grew. Haven't seen him since, though." And don't want to, the stupid p***k.

"I don't know. Lucky'll figure something out. She's smart." And scarey. Kilah didn't dare stick around to wait for her to come home. No one believed her when she said she didn't do it. The evidence was awfully overwhelming. Whatever. She didn't really want to think about it.

Another thing she didn't want to think about was Jax. Stupid...moron. "Ah," she said casually, almost boredly. What did it matter if he didn't see him anymore? Sometimes she could swear he was trying to start something. "You four, go away."

The group of girls whined as they gathered their things from the table and left. No one from the island dared to tell Momoro's future wife no. Of course, as far as they knew she actually had interest in him.

"I'd volunteer Banda's house, but it's tiny." He sighed. It was annoyingly small after the magnificence of the House. The apartment only had two bedrooms, a small kitchen, and a combined living/dining room. Lyrus had already booted Venoch to have a room of his own. The demon didn't mind. He stayed with Banda now.

He quirked a brow as the girls departed, watching them go and waiting until they were out of hearing range to continue. He didn't know why Kilah had sent them away, not did he particularly care. He preferred them gone. And he could make this work to his advantage. "Yeah, I heard from Isto. He also said Jax has a new girlfriend or something. Another Guardian he met."

A lie. Lyrus didn't care. If there was even the slightest chance that Kilah still liked jaxom in that way, he wanted it gone. Call it jealousy, call it greed, call it whatever. He just didn't like sharing a friend with his p***k of a brother.

Alright. Now she was sure he was trying to start s**t. She hadn't seen his brother in who knows how long, why couldn't he just let it go? She listened in silence, trying to look as careless as she could. The fact she didn't have eyes was for once a good thing--it was easier to fake an expression without them.

Drumming her fingers on the chair handle, she rested her elbow on the table and her head on her palm. "That's...nice," she said sarcastically in a way that almost seemed to be warning him. "Did you catch her name?"

"Eydie," Lyrus replied without missing a beat. He had expected the question. And Eydie -was- a real Guardian. She even lived with him--or with Moo, anyway. Part of Lenta's family. But Eydie had been stuck as a baby forever for some strange reason, even though she and Jaxom shared a birthday, so they idea of them ever hooking up was particularly laughable.

Not that he laughed. That would screw up everything. "I've met her once or twice. She's a b***h," he added. And she was. Demonic little wretch. Like a female Venoch, except less prone to slicing things open.

"But anyway," And time for a subject change. All casual like. "Have you met Anisia?"

It was hard to believe him for a few reasons, and those reasons were probably why she was so doubtful about it. For one, it was hard to believe anyone could put up with Jax for very long. He was all fine and good at first, but he got old quick. Besides, if he did have a 'girlfriend' it was only to make her jealous. Amusing, if anything.

But then what did she care?

"No," she answered, fiddling boredly with the straw again. "Why?"

"Just curious." That was all, really. He hadn't expected her to have. Maybe heard of the cinnamon girl, but not met her--Ani had said she didn't know Kilah or Mignon, after all. "I met her a few days back, s'all."

A pause while he traced a design on the table with one finger, and then, "She saved me from this giant plant. There's a room at the mansion, and we were exploring, and..." he shrugged. It was too much trouble to bother with the full story right now. "Well, she got me out of the plant, anyway."

Ah. So she was a Sin'aeis. That was-- Kilah paused, 'tsk'ing angrily at the sudden memory. "I know what room you're talking about. The one with all the plants, I've been there. That big a** fly trap or whatever almost ate me when I was toddler." Oh, Lord, how she loathed that thing to no end. It wasn't safe in that room! Chaco should burn it. Maybe she'd do it herself. "Like I needed another reason to hate flowers," she muttered as an after thought.

"Anyway," the girl continued, twirling the straw around and around in the glass again--for some reason it really helped pass the time. "I've never heard of her." Which kind of surprised her. Normally she'd at least heard of a person. "Sounds cool."

"Yeah! That's the one that got me." Well, he didn't feel so stupid anymore. And that blasted lure-flower hadn't helped. Of course, it wouldn't have tempted Kilah, but had she been able to see, he was sure it would've. It was just that nice of a flower, even if she hated them. So it was perfectly reasonable for him to, you know, nearly get eaten by a plant.

Why did Aylee have that room, anyway? ...And what did she feed the plants?

"She's pretty cool," Lyrus replied evasively, shrugging. "A lot like Mignon, I think. But less inclined to beating people with batons." Meaning she was nice in not-so-nice terms. But flat out telling Kilah someone was really nice generally made Kilah think of that person as a wuss... Which, really, Anisia probably was, especially since she was friends with Aard. But Lyrus could get over that. She had chopped him out of a plant, after all.

Kilah nodded understandingly. That plant was the damn devil. Now that she knew it was there she planned to revenge on the damn thing. One day. When she was older, and had more access to sharp objects she could kill it with.

Still listening, she 'hm' occasionally, eventually lifting her head up a bit and giving him one of those looks. "I don't think Mignon and I would've gotten along as well as we do now if we hadn't known each other as babies," she informed him in monotone. Perhaps it was a hint to drop the subject before she started thinking this girl Lyrus seemed to like so much wasn't so cool after all. Honestly, she was beginning to sound like another Yukito... Ick.

Come to think of it. "I barely see her anymore." Mignon, that was. It hadn't crossed her mind more than once, but the prescene of someone she had forever considered her best friend was becoming more and more rare.

Lyrus frowned, good mood vanishing in an instant. He knew that look, and he read the hint, but he was not at all inclined to drop the subject. Of course, he had expected something like this, hence his reasoning behind mentioning the plant fight first. But she didn't have to be so blunt about it. "You could give her a chance, anyway," he snapped, more to himself than to Kilah.

For a brief while he didn't bother to reply, merely eyeing Kilah's drink and debating going to get one for himself. And then he remembered that he didn't have any money, and that Banda wasn't nearby at present. Nevermind, then. "You don't really need to, do you? You cover the bitchy side, and those island girls're the nice side. Why should you and Mignon be friends anymore?" He didn't mean a word of it, of course, but he wasn't in the best of moods after Kilah's reaction to Ani. So piss her off it was.

Again, Lyrus? Sigh. Leaning back, she held one hand up and just as bluntly said, "Look, you're becoming increasingly easy to piss off. I didn't say anything bad about her, I don't know her. I'm only saying I don't want to be forced into contact with anyone. I don't like Yukito and we still talk despite the fact you do." It wasn't that she was happy with that, she wasn't. Pansy needed to go burn. But if she could deal with Lyrus liking him what was one more?

"I don't know those girls names." Hell, she didn't even want them here. The only reason she hadn't told them to 'piss off' was because they obeyed her every command and gave her money and stuff. Where someone from that island got money for things here she didn't know, but then didn't care enough to ask. "I don't know," she admitted flatly. "I seem to be thinking that about more than just her recently. Certain others like to start things and be unreasonable."

Had it been any other day she would've yelled right back at him, but not today. Considering everything that had happened arguing was the last thing she was interested in. Even if it was Aard she'd have hesitated, if only for a second. "You're awfully defensive about it," she pointed out. "You like her?"

She did have a point. However, that had been his arguement back when Kilah had hidden his 'relationship' with Jaxom from him. So he didn't have to listen to reason because she was being hypocritical. "I never said you had to meet her, I just don't like you swearin' off people before you meet them." Which was partially true given the situation. For some people, he probably wouldn't have cared.

He pulled a face at Kilah, but didn't bother to grace her with a reply. She wouldn't just stop being friends with him. And today he could make all the rude hand gestures he wanted, because Gizmo wasn't here to warn her. Bwaha.

"No," he snapped instead, scowling and huncing down over the table, arms folded on top of it. He paused, then muttered "Maybe," and after a beat sighed heavily and rested his chin on his arms. "I don't know. No. Banda says I do, but I don't think I do. So no, right?" Right. Right? Now he had confused himself.

"Don't ask me. As you so go out of your way to prove I'm not the best with this kind of thing." Damn Jax. Casting him aside completely she still wasn't any help with this sort of thing. Ani-whatever sounded more like Mignon than her. "You should talk to Mignon, she'll prolly be able to help you more than I will."

It wasn't just her who could hear those girls coming back. They were so damn loud seperately, deafening together. It was disgusting, really. Noyama seemed like a God-send in comparison. She wouldn't lie and say she wasn't slightly relieved they returned.

"Let's go," she immediatly insisted, rising to her feet. Not before pulling a lovely twenty dollar bill out of her pocket and tossing it out on the table. "Here, buy her something or...something. Consider it a farewell present, too, because Lucky's likely to kill me." That wasn't completely untrue, unfortunately.

Waving, she grabbed one of the girls arms and was led away. Couldn't catch a break anywhere today, and she'd have to face the reality outside that which was the mall eventually...

"Mignon, right," he mumbled, more than himself than to Kilah. However, with the return of the girls and the gift of the money, he glanced up somewhat, frowning faintly once more. She was leaving? Just like that? Sighing, he watched her go, then climbed to his feet and picked up the money, starting away. Buy her a gift nothing--he was getting a snack. And then off to search the mall for Banda. Wouldn't that be delightful.

Another day, another bored streak. Banda was at work, Venoch was a p***k, and Lyrus had retreated to the (relative) safety of the Sin'aeis mansion. As long as he wasn't inside with the man eating plants, it was a nice place to be. Relaxing, sitting around, doing absolutely nothing...bored out of his mind....

Lyrus' first attempt at soothing his boredom had failed. Panpipes were only exciting for so long. But he had something better now: Designing his sword for his Halloween costume. He had finally decided what to go as and, as Banda was making most of the costume, decided to contribute a creation of his own: a glass sword.

Swords were a lot harder than roses.

The lamb Sin glared down at the glass shards set carefully on the ground before him, the remanants of his previous few attempts. They were all too small... The glass broke if he tried to shape it to a sharp enough point. Of course, these were merely models for the big thing, but if he didn't have anything to go by, the result could be all lopsided and whatnot.

How frustrating.

On her own this time. Earlier she managed to convince Kiita she could walk to the mansion alone. It wasn't hard finding her way here. She'd been doing it most of her life, so it wasn't anything new or out of the ordinary. The walk was always nice anyway, even on a fall day like this. Ani found it peaceful and it gave her time to reflect on random things.

Last time she had visited the mansion, she bumped into Lyrus and had to save him from that plant. It made her wonder why nobody put up a word of caution or something. Well, Gaia was crazy like that sometimes...okay well, most of the time.

Who would she meet today, she wondered. Part of her hoped to meet up with one of her friends again, another part of her was hoping more of the other Sin were there.

But before she could enter the mansion, something shiny caught her eyes. Turning her head, she spotted Lyrus and some glass on the ground in front of him. With a smile, she held up her hand and waved, "Hi Lyrus!"

Sjajan was, surprisingly, not in a good mood and though it was a nice day for fall, she didn't notice, scowling at the ground beneath her feet instead as she approached the mansion. Her hands were shoved deep into her pockets, further evidence of her mood, since usually she was seen launching rocks into things with her slingshot.

As she got closer, she heard a cheery female laugh, an unfamiliar one and looked up, blinking in surprise. Who was that? Pretty girl, and naturally, older. Sjajan rarely met people her age, but at least she could do more with them then when she was a baby. And there was Lyrus too! He'd... Grown. A lot. And gotten hair?

Jani quickened her pace until she was next to the girl, smiling a little bit and feeling the smallest bit better.

"Lyrus! Yah 'airs nice!"

She turned her brown eyes to the girl to find... Three eyes.

"Hoo're yah? Yah're preddy!"

The voice distracted him and, for the upteenth time that morning, Lyrus dropped the tiny sword he was crafting. Snarling under his breath, he snatched up one of the unaltered glass pieces and made as if to throw it at the new arrival, but froze when he realized who it was and let the glass fall back to the ground.

No throwing glass at Anisia.

"Hi Ani!" he replied with a wave, suddenly in a much better mood. "How're you today? It--" And he paused, gaze turning to the younger girl who had just arrived.

He grinned. "Thanks. Guess I wasn't broken, huh?" Out of the corner of his eye he glanced back to Anisia while Jani addressed her, but chose to refrain from comment. He'd never hear the end of it if Banda found out.

Ani watched Lyrus's reaction with her eyes widening a little and could only take a startled step back. But when he greeted her back, his tone of voice told her it was okay. Maybe she had surprised him. So instead of saying something about it, she gave him another smile, "I'm doin' goo-"

But before she could finish, another girl had popped up next to her side. Smaller and younger. As she complimented Lyrus, she couldn't help but giggle. "I'm Anisia! But Ani for short." She replied. "Oh, and thank you! You're cute too." She added with a smile, "Whats your name?"

Jani had finally learned how to say her own name, though the 'Sj' sound was difficult for a todd-no, it was pretty much difficult for everyone but her mother. Stupid Indu.

"Ahm Sjajan, ya kin call meh Jani."

Still, as she heard the other girl's nickname, she blinked up at her almost in an instintive sort of fear and stepped slightly away.

"Anny?"

Jani was not getting along with Anny, at the moment. Not that they were getting along in the first place...

Ani and Jani are talking. Be polite, or interrupt? Lyrus really wanted to interrupt, but then.. Well, he and Anisia had been talking first, and Jani had interrupted them! Therefore it was perfectly reasonable that he resume the conversation they had been having before.

"So, uh..." Not that he really had anything to say. "Did you see the, er...flower, Ani?" Slightly hopeful. Maybe too hopeful? She had seen it, right? He had delivered it to the right place? She hadn't mentioned it. He would have mentioned it if it had been a gift to him.

Maybe she thought he had just bought it? It kind of looked that way, once Banda had helped with the stand and all. But he HADN'T! Paranoiaparanoiaparanoia. It was all Lyrus could do to keep a smile on his face and refrain from toying with his pocket knife.

Anisia frowned a little as Jani stepped away, "Uhm, yeah...but you can still call me Anisia if you want." She said, slightly confused. What was wrong with her nickname? Not used to getting this type of reaction toward her name, she turned her attention to Lyrus.

At the mentioning of the flower, Ani's frown turned upside down. Her facial expression brightening within seconds, "Oh Lyrus, its beautiful! Its so beautiful! I can't believe you could make things like that!" She said, her eyes shining. It had been the most gorgeous thing someone could make her. "I love it." Anisia added, giving him a nice smile.

What she didn't love, however, was how Kiita reacted to the flower. "Who is this Lyrus boy?" and "How long have you known him?" and "Why did he give you this?" And of course, her little dragon sister had to pipe in too, "Oooh, a booy?"

Jani's eyes sparkled at the mention of a flower, and the strained expression on Lyrus' face. She wasn't at all upset he'd interrupted, not when she'd felt so uncomfortable. However, since this Ani had a different reaction to this sort of thing, she decided that maybe nicknames had nothing to do with who you were and moved closer to the two older children.

"Ah fower? Lyrus 'ave gif?"

How sweet of him, and slightly out of character, from what she knew. Why'd he do it? Had to have been an ulterior motive... Interesting. Neme had been getting presents lately, so had Indu. Indu got them because it was her birthday, but Neme got them because... People had what Korist called 'crushes' on her. Trying to find out which one, she smiled and peered at Ani a little slyly.

"S'joor birrfday?"

Choking back a relieved sigh, Lyrus relaxed and genuinely smiled. Straightening up somewhat, he folded his arms across his chest with a smirk. "Good. I'm glad you like it." And damn, was he. It would've really sucked if she had hated it after he went to all that trouble, or if it had broken or he had brought it to the wrong house or something. But he didn't have to worry anymore.

"Yeeeeah," he mumbled after a moment, eyeing Jani somewhat warily. What, he wasn't allow to give presents? And whyever not?! He was just being nice! ....Actually, that was terribly out of character for him. Oh well. "No, she chopped me out of a plant when it tried to eat me, so it was a thank you thing."

That was all. Yahuh.

Ani gave Jani a small smile as she moved closer again. She still didn't understand why Jani reacted the way she did, but she didn't mention it again. She felt it was good the toddler stepped closer again. She'd have to ask later though, the cinnamon girl decided.

Anisia nodded as a response to Jani's first question, "Yup! But its not my birthday for a while. Lyrus already said why." She said, looking to him to give him a smile too.

"I didn't think it would turn out that way! Its so pretty. It looks like an adult did it!" She continued to compliment. "I'm keeping it in a safe place so nobody will break it...or touch it." Ani added. If someone touched it, they were bound to break it. So no touchy.

Lyrus was pleased.

Practice, apparently, did help. Grinning, he peered down at the set of panpipes in his hands and, after adjusting their position somewhat, begaun the simple tune once more. It was nothing complex, of course, but it was a quick tempo and the notes were all right--that was an amazing accomplishment for the lamb Sin. Learning panpipes was hard when your instructor couldn't hear.

Banda was at work and had taken Venoch with him, so the empty house hhad quickly chased Lyrus outdoors. At present, the lamb Sin was seated beneath one of the trees in the garden of the mansion, using the nice weather and lack of company to his advantage.

Wrapping up the song, he paused briefly to glance over to Vin, quirking a brow. "Well?" The flit crooned his approval, eyes whirling a cheery blue-green. Smirking with pride, Lyrus began again, this time adding a few extra trills here and there to make things more interesting. Practice makes perfect.

Good times.

Yukito's ears twitched back and forth as he went about the watering of the flowers in the garden and the picking of the ones that he would need later for a couple of potions that he was wanting to fiddle with. Roses it seemed were the main ingredient in a love potion, how interesting since it seemed they were also the ones that people gave out to each other on all occasions to show that they cared.

He lifted his head as he caught a few trills of music and his tail started to flick back and forth to the sounds. He wondered who that was, Vana maybe? She seemed more into singing though then instruments but one never knew right? He carried the watering can over to set it back down next to the edge of the garden where he had found it and decided to go in search of the music. It was a lovely sound after all.

Needless to say when he found who was making it he was a little in awe, he hadn't known that Lyrus played an instrument. How neat. He found himself standing there, listening to the sounds and sort of swaying to the music unconsciously.

Lyrus could have gone on for a while without noticing Yuki, and likely would have done so had not Vin been much more perceptive than he. A few confused chirps from the flit successfully interrupted his tune and, growling lightly, Lyrus dropped the pipes onto his lap, swiping idly at the flit. "Be quiet, Vin! I'm trying to--" The flit took to the air, and Lyrus scowled, eyes following him upward.

However, on the way, he paused, finally catching sight of the white dragon. That explained it. He grimaced faintly, but soon fixed a smile on his face, deciding this may not be such a bad thing. Climbing to his feet, he picked up the panpipes and started over to the dragon, waving slightly with his free hand. "Liked it?"

Yukito nodded his head, "It was wonderful." He told him with a smile, tail wagging. He had quite enjoyed listening to the lamb boy's song and was a little saddened at its ending when he had been noticed. Maybe he should have tried to be more stealthy about how he came over to listen? No, he supposed not. Being bright white didn't make for good camo now did it?

"I hope I didn't disturb your practice." He said, he would feel bad if he had gotten in Lyrus's way or something.

Good, he was getting better, then! Lyrus grinned. Now all he had to do was find a way to have Banda hear again.... Heh. Easier said than done. Ah well, perhaps he could bother Acia about it or something... "Thanks. And no, I was gonna wrap it up soon anyway." Not entirely a lie. Who knew when he would have gotten bored with it and gone home?

"How've you been?" he continued, tilting his head slightly. "It's been.. a while, I guess. Anything interesting happen?"

"Not to much has been going on late, mostly more learning from the books that I borrow from the clinic." He said, he was of late getting a lot more serious about his learning of potions and doctoring. It was a shame though that it seemd he couldn't catch up with either of the doctors that ran the clinic. He really wanted to learn more from them but for now the books would have to do.

He gave Lyrus a smile, "I really am getting the hang of it I think. I have been helping out the Sin'aeis with wounds and colds and such so I must be at least half way decent." Nothing like the two that took care of Dante though. That was what he was hoping to one day become.

"Books..." Lyrus grimaced. He could read and write, of course, but he wasn't very fond of either. He read only when it was absolutely required, and wrote in his journal to keep Banda happy...or when he got really bored or had something important to say. He preferred more of a hands-on learning experiance, hence why he did all of his glass sculpting from scratch. Life was more interesting that way.

"To each his own, I guess." He had heard Banda say that once or twice, and it seemed to fit well. "So you're gonna be a doctor, then? It suits you. I haven't forgotten when you fixed my hand." He glanced down at the hand in question, where the scar from Momoro's bite was barely visable beneath countless smaller others. Glass was tricky. He was lucky he healed quickly. "I don't know what I wanna do yet."

Yukito looked at his hand too glad that the scar left from the animal bite was minimal. He figured had it been now he could do better for Lyrus then just a bit of first aid but he had done well for what he had had to work with. His tail swished a little and he smiled, "I'm sure that you will figure it out when the time comes. I just discovered early that I liked helping people." He told him, people and flowers anyways.

"So how have things been of late?" He hadn't seen Lyrus for a while now. He had gotten bigger, had gotten hair even, "I like your hair." He comment aloud. It was a pretty color, he had flowers in his garden that color.

Lyrus... Well, it wasn't that he didn't -like- helping people, persay. And he'd do it if the situation arose, or if the person was his friend or something. But for the most part he could care less about the masses. He had more important things to worry about than sick people staying sick. Though he did respect Yuki for his ambition--and skill at it. "Yeah, I'll figure it out eventually." He had plenty of time to think about it. No worries.

"Thanks," he replied with a grin, eyes flicking up towards his hair. He got that a lot. But it was to be expected, as he hadn't had hair before. "Things have been alright, I guess. I found Banda and moved in with him, so I'm not living at Moo's anymore. Thank the gods for that..." Stupid Moo.

He looked over at Lyrus tilting his head to the side, curious about what had prompted the move. He looked over at him closely then smiled, "You moved huh? We were at one point thinking about it but ended up that plans changed. I was a little disapointed where we were moving I would have been closer to the clinic and all the stuff in it." He said, "What about you? Did you have reasons for the move?"

He was a little curious was all.

"Yup." And he'd never been happier. Well, almost. Actually, Banda's house was pretty dull when Banda wasn't around. But Ven was good company, if prone to violent outbursts, and when Banda was there it was a lot better than Moo's house ever was.

"My brothers are jackasses," Lyrus replied with a shrug. "And Moo forgot about me. Banda used to take care of me, before he got kicked out. So I finally found him again and moved in with him. S'all there is to it." And, you know, Jaxom was gonna grow soon and Lyrus didn't want to be murdered when that happened.

Well that made total sense, to want to be closer to the one that had taken care of him. He nodded his head, "Ahh. I see. And I understand the thing about brothers too. Mine can be a bit of a pain at times too." No doubt why he was glad to have the excuses of his garden, clinic work, studying, and herb gathering to get him away from home at times. It was much to loud there most days.

Bit of a pain. Lyrus rolled his eyes. That was an understatement. Lyrus hadn't had a moment of peace since he had shoved Jaxom out of the tree and Jax had broken his wrist. Of course, he hadn't had much peace before that, and Jax had had it coming, but still. Anyway, changing subjects: "You going to that Halloween thing coming up?"

Yukito nodded, "Yep, one of my brothers is coming along as well to help out with the work. He's mostly going to try to see his twin though. Less cause he wants to be there. He doesn't like people very much." He said then gave a bit of a smile, he had his own costume all ready to go and everything! He tail started to swish back and forth, "I think it sounds like fun and will get to see everyone I hope. I haven't gotten out and about much as of late myself." To much studying he supposed.

He looked over to Lyrus, "How about you?" He wondered if Lyrus would be going, that would be cool. Made him curious about the sort of costume he would be wearing but didn't ask as he was trying to keep his own a secret. Mostly cause it would be so funny that way.

Not all that much has happened. I mean, nothing as exciting as attack by plants or anything, you know? But some stuff, I guess.

I've been to the mansion a couple more times, saw more people. And then I ran into Kilah at the mall not long ago. That was...interesting, I guess.

She was with a bunch of those girls from that island. They're all a load of butts. They're just idiots, I think. Sit there and talk in that other language and giggle and crap. Stupid things.

Kilah was the same as ever. I sorta mentioned Ani to her and she didn't seem to like her much, which bothered me more than I thought it would, and then we talked some more and she mentioned something about liking Ani and I said I didn't know, which is true, 'cause I don't.

And, uh, she gave me $20 and I got dinner. And that's it.

So...Yeah. And then I saw Anisia and Jani at the center, and I think I'da liked it more if Jani wasn't there, but that's alright 'cause she's pretty cool and hasn't seen me since I grew. So I got compliments and crud. She likes my hair.

And then Ani really liked the flower I made, which is great. She was going on about how awesome and wonderful it is and stuff. So I don't have to worry anymore. Not that I was, because I knew it was great, because I'm great and because Banda said it was amazing and he's an artist.

So I rock, and that's that.

Moving on.

I also say Yuki. We talked about our families, brothes, Halloween, all sorts of crud. Was pretty cool. Good to see him again and all. Again, first since I grew. And again, he liked my hair.

And, uh, that's really it. Kinda pissed at Kilah, kinda hoping to see Ani soon. I really need to talk to Mignon, I think. She'd understand this crap.

User Image I've had a lot of free time lately, now that Halloween's over and all. Oh, I never wrote about that.It was cool I guess. My costume was freaking awesome. I went as a sultan. Banda made the clothes, and I made the sword. Best s**t ever.

Trick-or-treating got old fast, but I got a lot of candy, which made up for it. We trick-or-treated at the Sin'aeis mansion, ran into a few people. Mostly I stayed and helped Banda give out candy. Ven and I got to split the leftovers. And that was Halloween.

Uh. Oh, right, so, lots of free time, okay? Don't feel like going to the center, so I've been hanging out a lot with Banda. He's pretty cool for an old deaf guy.

Well, he's not -really- old. Pretty young, actually. But he's an adult, and months older than me, so yeah.

Back on subject, Banda got me this neat microscope kinda thing. It's like a magnifying glass, but magic, so it's much stronger. I just have to think and it zooms as much of little as I need it to. Cool, right?

You've no idea. I went and looked at one of my little worlds with it, and there're -people- there. Not real people, but tiny...holograms, sort of. There's a whole civilization of hologram people! A whole world!

It's so ******** cool, man. And all of the worlds are like that, but the people are different. And they react to stuff you do!

Like, okay, I got bored, right? So I poured sand reeeeaaaal slow on one of the worlds--the cactus one, figuring it wouldn't hurt, 'cause it's a desert anyway. The sand grains were HUGE compared to the hologram people. Half of the people got crushed, and the other half ran around screaming.

So ******** sweet, right?

And then you get bored, turn off the world, and stick it back in that makeshift solar system. And that's that. It's all magic and all fake, so it's not like I'm murdering millions of innocents or anything.

I like being god.

Venoch's a b***h.

I ******** hate him.

I never did, but today I finally saw Banda's arms...Hell, I knew he was hurt, but it's -horrible-. He's all torn up and bloody =, and today he only showed me cause Ven hurt one of his hands and he couldn't clean it up himself.

His -hand-! Banda's an artist! He needs his hands! He already can't hear! I mean, damn...

It's just really sad, you know? Today Banda was crying. -Crying!- And I had to clean up his hand and help him bandage it. We did his arms, too, because I insisted on it.

They're nasty. Some spots look greenish. I think they're infected, and I told Banda to go to the doctor, but he said he didn't need to.

I'm worried about him.

And I'm going to ******** kill Venoch when he gets home.

On another note, I've been toying more with my worlds. Rearranging them in the solar system and such. The hologram people are fun to watch. Especially when 'unexplained' natural disasters take them by surprise.

I've been trying t find a way to hear them, cause I know they're making sounds, but the magnifier's only for looking. Banda says we can probably find some way to add a speaker to the magnifier.

Speaking of Banda, he's calling. I'ma go help him make dinner.

Christmas has to be the best holiday ever.

I mean, at first I was thinking: 'Oh cool, I get presents' and 'gag, why do we have to go to Moo's?', but it was really a lot of fun.

We got up early on Christmas morning and opened presents from this fat Santa guy, most of which were weird clothes. Then me and Banda and Ven (I didn't kill him after all) made this huge breakfast together and ate -all- of it. Bacon and eggs and sausage and waffles and pancakes and toast and all sorts of good s**t. (We ended up skipping lunch.)

Next we went and opened presents from each other. Banda got me two new worlds, which is ******** awesome, and then Ven got me a big leathery egg. (I made Banda a glass flower kinda like Ani's, but smaller, and got Ven this spiked leather collar.) Supposedly it's gonna hatch within the next few days.

I'm not sure if I'm excited or terrified, knowing Ven.

We all just lazed around for a bit and watched Christmas shows on TV, then we go dressed up and went to Moo's.

It was actually...well, fun. Jack and Isto came over with their families and Kama was actually there, but not being a butt! Tayn grew, Acia grew, Adroi's just turned one, and even Jaxom was being less of an a** than usual.

It was just a lot better than expected. I spent most of my time talking with Isto's daughter Violet and Jaxom, of all people. Violet's pretty nice. One of her legs is made of metal--her real one got hurt really bad in a car wreck when she was little and they had to take it off. And then Isto adopted her, and she's been living with him for a while. So it's cool.

I wonder why I don't have any sisters. I mean, there's Acia, yeah. And I guess Tia and Miire sort of count. But they're all -tiny-. It's just weird. There aren't any normal sized girls in the family except for Moo. But girls're generally pretty irritating, so maybe that's why.

You know, most girls. Not my best friends. Or Ani.

Hell, most of my friends are girls, aren't they?

Life's weird.

Anyway, Christmas. It was cool. We didn't exchange gifts at Moo's 'cause the family's huge and half of us don't have money, but it was fun just hanging out and seeing everyone. I did get a present from Moo, though. She's this...sorta fox-ish, cat-ish thing that looks like a Christmas tree ornament and is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I think Moo's trying to make up for giving Jaxom a dragon.

I don't want a dragon anyway. They're too much trouble.

And I like my present better. She's certainly prettier, and doesn't eat as much. I've named her Klinnah.

Oh, and Jax gave me a box that had a kitten in it when I opened it. It's a real kitten, and it talks like Atear does. But it's not super powerful, and it's really freaking sarcastic, so I can't decide if he's being an a** or not. Guess we'll find out sooner or later.

I found another egg in my room when I got home. I don't know who it's from. It hasn't hatched yet.

I can't wait until next Christmas.

It's like 3 o'clock in the morning, which means it's been a completely different year for a few hours now. A whole different year! And that means it's almost my birthday. Or, well, n a couple of months, anyway. But that's close.

We -just- got home. We stayed up later and went and got ice cream around 11, and then we went to see the fireworks at midnight. We met up with Moo there (and Kama, Tayn, Adroi, Jax, and Coen) and shot off a bunch of fireworks of our own.

Me and Jax had bottle rocket wars, and Ven set Tayn's tail on fire. Then Tayn screamed and ran around and accidently lit a bunch of those black cat snappers. ******** sweet, man.

So yeah, we just got home. I'm tired. Thus far, the new year's looking good, but I'm gonn sleep now.

Happy New Year!

Noyama
Karoko decided she didn't like dogs too much after her first visit alone to this place. She was forever thankful to that Mignon girl for chasing that stupid werewolf away. And, alright, so werewolves and dogs were different, and Kaiyumi was only protecting her home (or in her mind she was).

Even so, for such a nervous girl it was almost tramatizing. Luckily, the second time she'd come, looking for Lyrus and the other boy, Jaxom or something, Noharu had agreed to come with her.

It only took her one hiss to scare Kaiyumi into running back into the mansion, and she hadn't bothered the bat girl since.

Unfortunately, since that time she hadn't been able to locate the two remaining people Kilah had wanted her to find. She found the situation with Jaxom particularly odd, as she'd spoken of him so bitterly.

But, hey, what she found had his name carved into it, so it must be for him.

"Hello?" the child echoed as she slowly creeked open the mansions doors.

Moofuls
Venoch was insane. The demonic SM had had another of his spats, Lyrus had gotten caugt up in the crossfire, and before he knew it Banda was pushing him out the door and warning him to stay away until the demon calmed down. Lyrus wasn't terribly bothered. A few cuts on the arm never hurt anyone. He was more worried about Banda than anything.

But he had escaped as instructed, wandering the streets aimlessly for a couple of hours before remembering the mansion and heading over. A brief exploration of the house turned up no one, but he hadn't exactly expected anyone to be there. It was New Years Day. People had better things to do.

Muttering absently to himself, he sunk down to sit against the wall near the front door, pulling his knife from his pocket and lazily flipping it open and closed. Nothing to do, nothing to do... After the ordeal with the giant plants, Lyrus was hesitant to explore the mansion in depth. At least, not without someone here in case something should happen. It was cold outside, he didn't think it was safe to go home yet... Boredom set in.

Thus, he was cheered considerably with Karoko's arrival, even if he didn't recognize the bat girl at first. He waved faintly in greeting with his free hand, flicking the knife closed and setting it on the floor beside himself. "Hey, uh... Oh, you. Is Kilah with you?"

Noyama
Run and hide!

It was always her first instinct. Even if Lyrus had helped her not to long ago, when she was younger, he was still, like everyone but Noharu and perhaps her only sister Onoway, considered a threat to her life.

Her hads quivered as they held the cloth protectively, but other than that she showed no signs of being nervous. Hearing his question, she frowned, eyes temporarily falling downward.

She knew it'd react differently than Mignon, or at least hoped so. She couldn't take another reaction like that. "No," Karoko answered, trying to stay monotone to avoid that upset voice she'd been using too much lately. "Akilah's dead."

Moofuls
Even taller, she was still scared of him? Tch. Wussy bat thing. Nice girl all in all, yes, but there was no reason to be scared of him. Not really, anyway. Or, not for her. He rolled his eyes, sinking back against the wall and reaching for his knife.

Only to freeze, grey skin paling nearly to white with her words. His hand hovered over the folded knife, eyes rising once more to fix on Karoko. He didn't look upset, persay, but stunned, confused, all but daring her to take back the words. She had to be lying. Kilah got in all sorts of trouble, and Kilah, bitchy Kilah, always pulled out of it and made off just fine. Just fine. She had to be just fine.

Finally snapping out of it, he let his muscles relax and scooped up the knife, nervously flipping it open and closed, open and closed. "She finally kicked the bucket, eh? Can't say I saw that coming. But I guess she took on someone a bit too big for her. ******** arrogant jackass."

He paused, dark eyes fixed on the blade. Open and shut, open and shut. Lyrus sighed. "And I s'pose that's why you're here?"

Noyama
No one can fight the ocean, Karoko thought, but her voice didn't echo her mind. "She died for the sake of Gizmo," was all she said at first. And, she'd heard she'd lost her eyes for him as well. Karoko wasn't sure if she could do something like that for anyone. Maybe even Noharu.

"Yes," she responded, a bit more formal than originally intended. "She asked I give something to a few you. Mignon and you, and there was something I found for, um, your brother as well she hadn't mentioned."

"I'm aware you two aren't on the best terms," Karoko quickly continued, shifting nervously. She could hear well, not as good as Kilah but well, and sometimes she wondered if the Sin'aeis realized how loud she spoke. Everyone in the house probably knew everything about her! "However..."

Moofuls
Anyone could fight the ocean. It didn't mean they would win, but they could certainly try. And had Lyrus known the literal cause of death, his thoughts would have been along those lines. Kilah wouldn't just lay down and drown. She'd have swum around in circles and beat up seven sharks or some such s**t. Maybe a giant squid would have finished her off. But Kilah would have fought.

As it was, he did not know of her death-by-ocean, merely that she had saved Gizmo with it. Still, that was Kilah for you. Stupid b***h.

Snapping back with Karoko's 'Yes', he flipped the blade shut for good and pocketed it, straightening up with a scowl. "Yeah, I'll give him the damn whateveritis." Despite his and Kilah's 'agreement' on their friendships, it still made his blood boil to know she liked Jaxom. That was just disgusting. Pink haired, stick-up-his-a**, ******** Jaxom. "Least I can do, after all."

Noyama
Actually, Karoko took it back. Everyone in the house knew about Jaxom and Aard, and other people she complained about, but no one knew a damn thing about her, except Lucky and Gizmo maybe.

Karoko realized quickly the harsh feelings Lyrus had for Jaxom were stronger than she'd originally thought. How could one hate their own family so much? "If it makes you feel better, she called him a...very unkind name before she died." It confused her to know end, Kilah's opinion on this Jaxom person.

"Anyway..." Her voice trailed off. Unfolding the large cloth she'd been keeping everything in, she held out a piece of paper. Best get Jaxom out of the way now. In black it had written simple: Thank you, Jaxom. I'll bring it back to you.

"This is all I found for him," she said, a bit distressed. "Lucky said she didn't write it, and no one in the house has hand writing similar to this. I don't know how she would've managed to write it on her own. Also, I tried to find what the 'it' was she wrote about here, but there aren't any hints anywhere."

Moofuls
Jaxom wasn't family. Not by blood, anyway. None of his so-called family was, so Lyrus didn't have to think of or treat them as family. Hell, he didn't even live with them anymore. He lived with Banda and Venoch. They were his family, not pink-haired puss boy.

He accepted the paper without a word and, with no regard for Jaxom's privacy, read through the brief message. Frowning faintly, he quirked a brow. Kilah had written something? Normally? And what the hell was 'it'?

Finally shrugging, he folded and pocketed the note, patting his pocket afterwards as added reassurance to Karoko. "I'll get it to him. Thanks."

Noyama
"Mm." That had gone better than it could've, Karoko noted. On to what she considered a more important matter. Careful not to drop it, as it felt like it might shatter even on grass if she did, she held a large, white, oddly-shaped jewel out.

"This is what she left for you. Also..." From her pocket she withdraw a small recorder, holding that out too. "She recorded one of these for you and one for Mignon. If you touch it, it'll start playing. I...I tried to listen to it," she admitted guilty, ears lowering. "She's got some sort of spell on it, though, and if I try to pick it up when it's not wrapped in this cloth it burns my hands." And she still had burns on her left as proof, too.

What she didn't understand is why, if she managed to write for Jaxom, she couldn't write for her two closet friends. Let alone how she could manage to curse a tape recorder.

Moofuls
Lyrus reached for the jewel, eyes widening appreciatively to the strange object. Carefully he set it on his lap, one hand remaining holding it on the off chance that he might shift and it slip. He took a moment longer to admire the odd jewel, trying to decide what it might be made of, but finally gave up and reached for the recorder.

"One for me and Mignon, huh? And all I have to do is touch it?" He looked skeptical, but that, at least, was an improvement over pale and nauseated. He seemed to be taking the knews of Kilah's demise fairly well. It hadn't all clicked yet. He plucked the recorder from her hand, sitting back to listen.

Noyama
And, as Karoko had said, Akilah Ann Kther's voice immediatly burst from the object:

"Yo. Luckily I think I have time to do one of these for you, too. Noyama's pretty pissed at me. I smashed a bottle over this kids head. Oh man, it was great, haha.

Anyway, if you're listening to this it means I didn't come back from that damn Island place I'm about to head to again. There's reasons, I doubt you'd be interested. I'm sure you know what I'm going to say: Take care of Mignon, blahblah. And, yeah, I know what you're thinking. Blahblah she doesn't need it.

Whatever. I gave you one of the best things I have, which would be that gem you've hopefully got right now. It doesn't do anything. Yet.

It's called a 'spell gem'. They're wicked cool. You can like, program them I guess, to do something specific. This one time I cast a barrier spell on one of them and set it outside Twila's room. She was locked in for seven hours. Oh man.

Right, well, that's all. And...take care of yourself, too."

And that was that.

Moofuls
And that was that. Lyrus was quiet, staring forelornly down at the recorder in his hand, the reality of what had happened sinking in. This was the last he would ever hear Kilah. And she had expected it to be the last, but she hadn't sounded worried at all. She'd been normal. Same old Kilah, off to face her doom at that ******** island.

Lyrus looked like he was about to be sick. It was just him and Mignon now. No more Kilah to aruge with over stupid subjects. No more skydiving buddy. No more making plans to murder Aard.

He set the recorder down on the floor, attention turning to the gem on his lap. A spell gem, huh? And what was he supposed to do with it? He couldn't do magic. He just played with glass and daggers. But it was the thought that counted, he supposed.

Nodding absently to himself, as if reestablishing this point, he finally looked back up, once again drawn and pale. "Yeah, well. I think I'm gonna go home now, if that's all?"

Noyama
The girl hesitated, briefly stunned. Once, she'd spoken with Kilah about her friends. Her only two, it seemed, though she had seen her with others. From the stories, she'd hadn't been expecting him to...look like this. "Yes," she confirmed, trying to keep her own voice from shaking.

Before he could move, she turned herself and hurried down the road. Only a few steps into it, her hand came up to her face to try and shield the tears, or more preferablely prevent them. What have you done, Akilah?

As expected, Noharu was waiting with her arms crossed down by the road. Standing impatiently, watching the cars go by. "God damn, it's about damn ti--" The teenagers words cut off as her daughter suddenly clung to her, sobbing loudly.

"Let's go home," Noharu finished, shaking her head.

Damn that little b***h. Even in death, she was still ruining peoples lives.

Moofuls
And Karoko was gone. Crying, from what he could tell. It wasn't such a bad idea, really. But Lyrus didn't cry. He hadn't for a long time, and he wasn't going to over Kilah. That'd just piss her off, anyway.

Picking up the recorder, he pocketed it and climbed to his feet, the spell gem carefully held with both hands. A final glance around the room, and he headed out the door after Karoko, from there turning and starting back for Banda's. Maybe he'd get lucky and Ven wouldn't have killed his guardian.

Lyrus couldn't deal with another death today.
